EeeeEeee. Thank you guys for all of the congrats on my new place! ๐
It’s so nice to share my excitement with others, and I wish more than anything that I could invite you all over for a housewarming party. Unfortunately, I can’t (unless you happen to be in the neighborhood in mid September)… BUT I promise to give you tour as soon as I move in, and then take you along on all of my decorating shenanigans. It’ll be good times, I promise.
But enough about that. There’s been too much talk of life around these parts lately, and not enough food. So let’s cut to the chase and get to the good stuff. It isย WIAW, after all…
… and it all started with my absolute favorite ย breakfast…
[Eggy bananafied steel cut oats topped with almond butter and pudding]
I hope you guys aren’t getting too tired of seeing this sucker around, because I can’t honestly see myself getting tired of eating him any time soon. He’s me reason for getting out of bed in the morning. My reason for living. He’s what gives me the strength to make it through each day!
Whooaaaa-kay, Amanda. Let’s not get too carried away here.
Ahem. Where was I? Ahh yes… After spending the majority of the morning stalking food blogs, getting decorating ideas from magazines, and almost spilling a bottle of pink nail polish all over my laptop keyboard (definitely a close call), it was time for aย pre-workout snack…
[Cottage cheese mixed with vanilla protein powder and cocoa. Banana and almond butter]
… which was yet another repeat offender. BUT, today’s workout was something new, at least. It was my first time doing workout B of stage 2 of the NROLFW plan; and promise not to laugh when I tell you that, prior to my workout, I spent a good 30 minutes trying to figure out how to do most of the moves in it? ๐ I’m still kind of a noobie when it comes to strength training, so I’ve got a lot to learn…
One thing I doย know a good deal about, though, is how to fuel myself properly; and since you’re supposed to take in a high protein meal after working your muscles,ย lunchย was just that…
[Greek yogurt with ย Kashi Honey Sunshine, Puffins, and trail mix.ย Mango tofu protein pudding]
… butย dessertย was just for fun…
Oh, and it was also an attempt to distract me from how much pain my poor shaky limbs were in. Very ow. Workout 1, Amanda 0. BUT… I win in the end anyways, because even though I get my butt whooped, I’ll be completely ripped before you know it…
… [in my dreams]…
Shoosh, head – don’t be so snarky.
Aaaaand I promise that I’ll [attempt to] stop talking to myself, now. Please don’t call the men in white coats to come get me. I just tend to get a little craz[ier] when I get excited. But I’m harmless, really ๐
… for nowย anyways…
A little bit more of this crazy running around might just send me over the edge. I thought things would get easier once I actually found a place that I liked, but thus far, the opposite has been true. Countless condo viewings have been replaced with numerous meetings, endless document signings, and a host of other legal mumbo jumbo that I absolutely can’t stand. Can we just skip to the part where I get to move in? Please? My sanity is at stake here.ย Le sigh…ย Welcome to adult life.
But at least I’ve had plenty of good snacks to help keep me grounded…
[Chocolate pudding and strawberries]
[Chocolate chip cookie dough balls. Baked lentil chips & Hummus]
And I usually manage to finish everything beforeย dinner…
[Sweet and savory oats with cottage cheese, avocado, and jam]
… so at least I can enjoy that in peace and have a nice quiet evening at home to relax and unwind… only so that I can do it all again tomorrow ๐ Good times, though. No complaints.
And now it’s time for a bit of blog stalking, some more snacking (I’m thinking popcorn with coconut oil, cinnamon, and brown sugar), and then off to bed. Happy Wednesday, loves!
. – . – . – .
What do you enjoy more? Food or life based posts?
What was the last thing you ate?
Hannah @ A Dash of Drivel
I like food recipe posts, with a little bit of life thrown in. “Shoosh, head โ donโt be so snarky” made me laugh out loud…I say that to myself all the time ๐
Tiff
I’m happy to hear you got a good workout. That’s always a nice, accomplished kind of feeling.
The last thing I ate was coffee n’ organic milk. Doesn’t count? Then I guess kashi golean and honey bunches of oats mixed together with unsweetened almond milk. I just can’t ever get used to almond milk in my coffee!
kabochafashion
Ohh I will never ever get sick of seeing your beautiful food…ever ever…:)
I love ALL of your posts lovely – you are one of my fave bloggers of all time so no matter what you post, I’m going to love it! <3 But a balance of life and food is always good because they go hand in hand I guess, food is a part of life and keeps us going! ๐ Plus there is more to life than just food, as yummy as it is hehe!
Khushboo Thadani
Your oats always look so good! I am about to go replicate your breakfast but will have to improvise and use vanilla alpro yogurt instead of pudding!
buttonss - Cherie
You always take such nice photos of your food. And I really like the cute heart bowl you use for your oats.
Try maple syrup on your popcorn! Cant go wrong with maple syrup.. (I bought a new one just three days ago and its almost all gone.. I put it on EVERYTHING)
I like both kinds of posts to be honest. Both are interesting.
Last thing I ate was a salad of carrot, zucchini, edamame, spinach, avo and a few other veges tossed together with some hummus.
See, Im going to dinner with friends tonight, they booked the table for 8 o clock, so I wont be eating till like 8:30 – 9… which is way late for me, I usually eat at 6:00. So this salad was my pre dinner snack to make me last, but not fill me up too much ๐
Amanda @ Running with Spoons
Maple syrup on popcorn? Oooo now there’s something to try! I sometimes dip my popcorn into honey and LOVE how that tastes, so I’m gonna have to give maple syrup a try.
Laura Agar Wilson
I really need to try some of those puddings they look amazing. I love a mix of food and life posts as I find both as equally interesting! I do love getting inspired by your meals though! Last thing I ate was a surprising breakfast assembled from the contents of my freezer and a new little thing I made up that tastes yummy – frozen blueberries, rhubarb compote, muffin and coconut vanilla ‘yoghurt’ ๐
vegan aphrodite
Your eats are always my favorits- I never ever get tired ๐ I really like that almost all of them is a little chocolate-y or nutbutter-y!
I cant wait to get to see your new place, and Im so excited to see your “style”! I have a feeling it is really good ๐
I just woke up, so the last thing I ate was the chocolate tart last night- so sorry it is all gone
๐
Have a wonderful day Amanda <3
ittybitsofbalance
Oo! I found those lentil chips at TJ Maxx the other day (go figure..) and they were SO delicious! What did you think?
The last thing I ate was a hugeee hunk of watermelon ๐
Amanda @ Running with Spoons
I love them! They were a bit different at first, but became addicting pretty darn quick. I still wanna try some of the other flavors!
Nicole
“Eggy Bananafied”…haha, Love it! I think I like food posts best, mostly because I’m the type of person that could eat nearly the same thing everyday for the rest of my life and not care. Food posts give me good ideas and recipes!
Kristie
I’m a teeny bit behind the times but CONGRATS on the new place! Woooooo! I’m not even kidding when I say I’m SO excited to see what it looks like and how you decorate it. If your decor skills are any match for your FOOD decor skills, I have a feeling your place is going to be instant fab.
I love food and life posts all mixed into one big happy picture filled message of delight. You’re great at that. Keep em coming!
Last thing I ate: a bowl of mixed greens and….popcorn with salsa ranch dressing. As a bedtime snack. Gotta honour those random cravings!
Katy
I will never get sick of seeing your pudding oats as I know that I can only just imagine how they taste each time they appear. I like a nice balance between foodie and life posts ๐
The last thing I ate was an apple. It may sound boring but it was OH SO satisfying because I was feeling hungry AND thirsty and there’s nothing like a juicy apple to quench your thirst and (partially) fill you up. Although if I was eating an apple on an empty stomach I’d be starving after having finished it! Always eat apples with other foooooooooooood!!!!!!!
xxx
Tori (Fresh Fruition)
Your eats look scrumptious! I love love love those puddings. Definitely a new favorite! I adore mixing them with a splash of milk and warming them up to turn them to sauce as a topping if I’m feeling… well.. SAUCY. Was that cheesy? Sorry.
I’m feeling you on that Greek yogurt. So many toppings you can’t even see the yogurt beneath it. That’s how I roll. The yogurt is merely a nutritious vehicle for the crack- errrrrrr- Puffins. Yeah, Puffins. That’s what I meant.
By the way- how’s that workout plan working for your arms? I have tiny, tiny little arms from Irish dancing (all the muscle goes to your legs), and I’m considering giving that book a go! I’m a little intimidated, though. Like you I’ve never really done any strength training! You’re so inspiring!
I’m a big fan of mixing food with life in posts- shoot, you’ve seen mine. I try to write posts that I would personally love to read, and that means a good balance of everything usually. But girlie, I would read your blog even if you up and changed it to American football analyzations (and oh. my. gosh. does football instantly turn me off). You are seriously a BRILLIANT writer. Please get to publishing that book of yours, because I would buy it in a heartbeat.
And since I was away when you found out your exciting news, here’a goes:
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW PLACE! Eeeeee! I’m seriously so so so excited for you. Can I come live in your closet? Wait, no. Your pantry? Yes- pantry would be better.
“What happened to all those muffins I just baked?” Oops.
The last thing I ate- a good-sized bowl of soy chocolate ice cream while my dad ate a good-sized bowl of vanilla cow ice cream. Nom.
Ok, this comment is getting a bit excessive. I’ll stop now…
No wait, one more thing!
Love you, chica! ๐
Amanda @ Running with Spoons
Eeehehe. Oh girlie your comments always make me smile. Love you ๐ And I’m feeling you on the arms… I have little chicken arms as well, but they’re getting better! My upper body strength has definitely improved, and I’ve been noticing more definition in my arms, so yay for lifting! I was intimidated in the beginning too, but you should definitely give it a try! You might be surprised at how much you like it. I fell in loveeee.
Oh, and don’t worry. I don’t plan to take up football analysis any time soon. That’s one sport I don’t care too much for, either…
Tori (Fresh Fruition)
Good thing on the football. PHEW!
And I ought to give it a go! I’d love to have a little bit of definition in the arm department.
Jenn L @ Peas and Crayons
I think i’ll join your for popcorn =) Happy WIAW Amanda! thanks for making me hungry as always! hehe <3
In Sweetness and In Health
Oh my gosh all of your stuff looks delicious :). Pudding in oatmeal sounds amazing…I should try that! I think I would enjoy more food-based posts if I was better in the kitchen. Perhaps that day will eventually come
Corey @ Learning Patience
Love food and life posts..I mean blogging is about you and you journey right? Not about what everyone else…SO happy you scored your new home! Xoxo
jranolajoyce
honey chocolate avocado pudding turned vegan ice cream!

AMAY ZING
ahhh!! ๐
Maria @ Beautiful Busy Bee
I like food recipe posts, especially if the photos are good like yours always are ๐ but I prefer life posts because they lift my mood. I just ate an oatmeal raisin cookie.
Kate Wason
Just started reading your blog – I’m a huge fan! your personal story is so inspiring, you’ve really come a long way ๐
CONGRATULATIONS on the new condo! your very own? no obnoxious roommates? That must be so exciting! I’m about to move into my very first apartment too…but my two new roommates were there first. baby steps haha!
I wouldn’t be able to pick whether I like food or life posts better- I think they’re best combined ๐
The last thing I ate? cinnamon raisin toast with copious amounts of crunchy peanut butter. strawberries and blueberries topped with vanilla frozen yogurt on the side. No judgement about your food-repeating offenses – I’ve been committing this one every night for a few years now haha!
~Kate
Amanda @ Running with Spoons
Thank you, Kate! And thanks for taking the time to say hello ๐
Jen
Ah, I just bought baked lentil chips from TJ’s a few minutes ago. They’re my favorite. Mine aren’t cucumber-dill flavored, though. Those sound yummmmm. I think a mix of food and life is what I find most entertaining when I read blogs. I love to see what people eat, but I like knowing the person behind the food as well! And seriously girl, I’m the worst repeat offender ever, so no shame in eating the same breakfast every morning. Humans are creatures of habit by nature. We find. We like. We stick. ๐
Jess@HealthyExposures
Getting your own place is definitely a big step into adulthood ๐ You must be so excited!! It’ll be mid-september before you even know it. It is, after all, almost August. Eep!
And whenever I’ve got a new workout planned I always spend ample time prior watching the move and then doing it myself, lol.
I love food AND life posts ๐
Kaila @ healthyhelperblog!
What a delicious day! I especially love those snacks!
Carey @ Positively Blonde
Congratulations on your new place!! I recently got a food processor, so I’m very excited to give the chocolate chip cookie dough balls a try!!!
Tessa @ Amazing Asset
I definitely NEVER tire of seeing your eats…they always look so pretty and tasty, keep em coming! I also do enjoy the life posts of course, so what you got going on right now is perfectt
Lauren @ What Lauren Likes
I never get tired of seeing your eats haha! I just ate a toast with pbutter with banana and dried figs ๐ so good!
sarah
I look forward to ALL your posts!
I thought I was the only 1 who took an age getting strength moves right!-took me aaages to stop falling over during stability ball jack knives and have the ball roll away to the other end of the gym(embarrassing!)
Last thing I ate = cocoa eggy steelies, topped with prunes(love), crunchy pb and caramel pudding- twas scrumptious! And I’m about to eat these salt & vinegar flax, poppyseed potato chip thingies, yum.
All your eats look picture perfectly drool inducing as usual!
Xxx
keepnthefaith
I think you do a GREAT job of mixing life and food posts. I always love how you tie them both together ๐
Lisa Fine
[1] I like the combination posts, to learn more about your life, and to get new ideas for the lovely-looking food. Speaking of which, and you’ve probably mentioned it before – any good protein powder recommendations?
[2] Last thing I ate – Newman’s Own Milk Chocolate. We always keeps a stash of chocolate in the house, and I bought Steve a bar of this one yesterday. So delicious!
Have a good night!
Amanda @ Running with Spoons
The protein powder I use is Proteins+ from Genuine Health http://www.genuinehealth.com/ It’s one of the only ones that I can find in stores around here that doesn’t have a bunch of extra added chemicals, and I love the taste ๐
cleaneatingchelsey
I loooove all your eats today – for real, I want all of it!
VeggieGirl
I enjoy both types of posts on YOUR blog, but not on most people’s ๐
Last thing I ate = a Bonk Breaker High Protein PBJ bar.
Rachel
your pictures are always so awesome! and I love hearing about both, food and life. Hmm best thing I ate today? probably some high-protein vegan g-free cheesecake. yes.
Sara K
Loving the looks of the sweet n savoury oats. Last thing I ate: half a rotisserie chicken with 4 types of hummus and a rocket/tomato salad
sarah (onedayiwillseethesun)
well i would say both I think a balace between the two is just right. loving the oat ideas!!
Sarah - feeedingbrainandbody
Wow, that was a close call with the pink nailpolish. I have spilt (spilled?) plenty of food things on my laptop keyboard it’s a mess. Those baked lentil chips were dill flavored ( I pay close attention to them pictures) I love dill! I like both the life and food posts, a little bit of both makes the perfect recipe for good blog reading ๐
Alexandra
Yay! Super stoked for the condo tour m’dear! ๐ Your pre-workout snack has my heart a-smilin’, isn’t cottage cheese with protein powder THE BOMB?! Just like your love affair with glorious eggy oats, I can’t ever, EVER get enough of my cottage cheese gloops. ๐
I enjoy posts about both food and life, especially when the two intertwine. Food can make life so delicious and grand, it feels amazing to have a healthy relationship with my fuel again! ๐
Amanda @ Running with Spoons
Yes! Adding protein powder to cottage cheese rocks my socks. And I have you to thank for that one ๐
Cait @ beyond bananas
Ahhh totally looking forward to the tour!! Loving that lovely salad beast and your thoughts on being soar. The workout may win the battle but YOU will win the war. Goo girl!
Katie
I enjoy any of your posts darling! Yay for a good workout!
And the whole reason I get out of bed is breakfast too! I heart breakfast : ) its the best meal of the day to me!
I just had a salad full of veggies, hummus, and cottage cheese!
Love you! Have a great night girl! xo
Alrxis
Yum! I need to hop on the eggified oats but it’s still too hot out for those! I love posts about both! I think decorating and food go hand in hand ๐
The last thing I ate was my soy banana homemade pudding delish!
debbiecutieface
hey, don’t feel bad about repeating your breakfast…I eat the exact same thing for breakfast every single day because it’s just so good.
I definitely enjoy life based posts more…but I do love me some food photography ๐ Like yours, because you’re an amazing photographer.
Cassie
congrats again! i’m a sucker for the same eats as well. i need to get that book, i’m an even bigger newbie (i’ll come to you when i can’t figure anything out lol ๐
Jenny
I would never get tired of your awesome eats! Those oats and cereal mixes are amazing ๐ I think I enjoy a combination of both. Last thing I ate were pork chops and zucchini ๐
