Happy What I Ate Wednesday, friendly faces!
I know. Youāre shocked. I am too. Itās been about a month (!!!) since Iāve participated in the WIAW party, which is crazy considering I used to do it every.single.week. But donāt you worry ā Iām still eating!
Breakfastā¦ Iām still eatingā¦ smoothies and cereals.
A peaches ānā cream protein smoothie (recipe coming soon!) alongside a bowl of Enjoy Life chocolate granola.
Waitā¦ what?! No oats?! No oats, friends. No oats. Actually, I havenāt been eating oats on a regular basis for about a month or so. Iāll have them every once in a while when the mood strikes, but definitely not daily like I did for so long. Why? No reason, really ā our relationship had just run its course so I decided to start seeing other people breakfasts. Weāre still good friends, though And Iāve got to say that starting the day with a refreshing peach smoothie aināt half badā¦ as long as I have something solid to go with them, because I very much enjoy chewing.
Morning snackā¦ Iām still eatingā¦ homemade [un]baked goods.
A chocolate chip cookie dough [bar]ā¦ and some grapes.
You guyssssssā¦ I can.NOT get enough of this cookie dough. I think this is the first time that I made any kind of bites/balls without using dates as a base, and Iāve got to say that Iām a huge fan. HUGE. Itās the texture that does it for me ā soooo doughy and justā¦ ungh! No words. Only inappropriate noises. And they get even better the longer they sit, too. Save me [from me].
Lunchā¦ Iām still eatingā¦ snack plates.
Dr.Kracker Seedlander crispbread, Barney Butter almond butter, The Good Beanās chocolate crunchy chickpeas, baby carrots, and dried figs.
My sweet tooth was in high-gear yesterday and I just didnāt find myself wanting anything savoury when lunch time rolled aroundā¦ hence the plate full of things that I could happily dip in almond butter All I can say is thank goodness Iām at a place where I can eat what I want to eat instead of what I think I should eatā¦ so much more satisfying that way.
Afternoon snackā¦ Iām still eatingā¦ frozen treats.
I had a mini panic attack when I looked in my freezer yesterday and realized that was out of my beloved ice cream sandwiches. Thankfully, a little more digging lead to the discovery of the sole surviving cocoa pop, which hit the spot juuuuust right. Actually, the bottom half tastes exactly like a fudgsicleā¦ which means that I might have to whip up another batch and make the entire thing chocolatey this time. So good.
Dinnerā¦ Iām still eatingā¦ cold leftovers.
A bowl of Chickpea Avocado Pasta Salad.
Not gonna lie ā cooking has been a huge struggle for me lately. Maybe itās the warm weather, or the fact that Iāve had too many other things keeping me busy, but the last thing Iāve wanted to do has been spend more time in the kitchen than I have to. Thank goodness that recipe development pulls me away from brinners and pizzas at least once every little while. Check out my latest post over at Savory Style for this deeee-lish dish. Itās cool, creamy, loaded with flavour, and perfect for those hot summer days!
Evening snackā¦ Iām still eatingā¦ yogurt messes.
A yogurt mess made with plain Greek yogurt, fruit (banana & peach), cereal (I forget exactly what I threw in there), vanilla almond milk, and cinnamon.
Confession: I eat yogurt messes purely as an excuse to eat more cereal. I like yogurt well enough, but my cereal cravings have been off.the.charts lately, and while Iām perfectly content to sit there repeatedly dipping my hand into an open box, I do occasionally like to transfer it to a bowl and spruce things upā¦ especially since doing so makes it a super satisfying snack.
And thatās that! See you guys tomorrow for Thinking Out Loud!
Do you prefer fruity or chocolatey/vanilla-y smoothies?
Was yesterday more sweet or savoury for you?
Andā¦ anyone else feeling a total lack of motivation in the kitchen?

Leftoversācold leftovers are the best. Iām in the process of settling into my new place so I totally feel you on the lack of motivation to cook. Iāve been snacking and eating out more than usual these daysā¦oh and sipping on smoothiesāfruit based smoothies. Those are my favorite. I like to add either vegetables in them as wellā¦got to get my veggies! Iām totally a sweets person and tend gravitate towards them but the nutritionist in me is telling me to hold back and fight the urge these days.
omg I SOOOO feel you on the lack of motivation in the kitchen!! Well, no wonder after the Ninja disaster lol
Though I must say your meals donāt look unmotivated at all! I am officially in love with your snack plates.
I have to admit, Iām a little shocked that youāve been mixing up your breakfasts! Iāve come to associate oats with Amanda ;).
And ughhhhhh. Cooking lately has been a big struggle for me as well. Iām currently in Hawaii and, even though we have a fully stocked kitchen, I donāt see myself cooking much at all
. Iām gonna have to get my butt to work once I get back to get more recipes done for SS and AOME!
Have a wonderful day, love!
Your food always looks so darn good. I have been really into smoothies lately too. I find itās practically he only way I can make sure to get enough fruits and veggies into my day! I tend to lean towards more savoury snack-like things throughout the day ā crackers with hummus, chips with salsa, toast, nuts, etc. and have noticed that my veggie intake is especially low. Enter carrots and spinach in my morning smoothiesā¦ Gotta do what you gotta do!
That peaches n cream smoothie sounds amazing! I cannot wait for the recipe. I have been looking to add more variety into my days and I think this would be the perfect thing to venture into trying!
I love fruity smoothies, but every once in a while I like throwing some cacao powder in with āem to change it up. Yesterday (who am I kidding ā this whole week) has been totalyl sweet. Definitely more sweet than savory!
Iāve also found myself drifting away from oatsā¦ Itās super odd for me since I was so obsessed with them. Iām craving Greek yogurt with frozen berries these daysā¦
I just found your blog through WIAW! Its beautiful! I love the design and the color. And OMG your food pictures! They are amazing! New fan over here!
Aww! Well thanks so much for taking the time to say hi, Erin
I reallllyyyy enjoy cold leftovers. I donāt own a microwave, and whenever someone finds this out they ask me, āHOW DO YOU HEAT YOUR FOOD!?ā As if it were a first world problem. I simply tell them that most my meals are cooked the day of, and that I LOVE cold leftovers if I donāt finish!! EASY ENOUGH! I am still lusting over your cookie dough ballsā¦
I took a good hard look at those figs and was wondering if they were mini-turkish hens! But somehow, even if they were little naked hens on a plate- they looked damn good.
My meals have been more savory since my budget kinda dwindled down the ābuy all the chocolates, peanut butters, and interesting foodsā fund. However, I always make room for something sweet before bed. And your pasta bowl has me smitten right now about now. Next time I pick up avocados and pasta, I am recreating your dish and Iāll pretend youāll be joining me at my apartment sized table for 2! (only seating 1)
Independence is bliss.
Amen to that
Why does everybody have to post pictures of popsicles when I keep forgetting to buy molds?! Actuallyā¦ Iāll be at my parents for some time now and I wonder if those old molds from waaay back in the day ā read: my childhood ā are still hiding somewhereā¦ Iāll be on the hunt tomorrow because itās seriously late already and I have a feeling my family wouldnāt appreciate being woken up by me rambling around in the kitchen ;).
And yes, I hear you on the lack of kitchen motivation. But Iāll blame moving and feeling like everything I wanted to make would have required a trip to the grocery which obviously isnāt the smartest move before a move [can you tell Iām feeling pun-y today?!].
Iām with you in that smoothie boat. I need something to chew so it actually feels like I had a meal.
Looks like a load of delicious eats!
YES I need something to chew on when I have a smoothieā¦sometimes I have a spoonful of peanut butter on the side to do a double dip. Yes Iām weird like thatā¦Itās so hot in Texas, so I am all about quick meals that are ready in 15 minutes. Iāve been all about savory latelyā¦but I think I need to fulfill the sweet tooth soon!
Iām about to go whip up some pasta for dinner, and seeing that made me extra hungryyyyy
My sweet tooth was raging yesterday too. Those days are tough!! That popsicle looks delicious! Happy Wednesday!!
I have made the cookie dough 3 times already nowā¦SO GOOD!!! Thank you for the recipe!
Woohoo! Glad you like āem, Shannon! Thanks for letting me know
Okay, you are practically forcing me to make that cookie dough. I want to make inappropriate noises too! lol
Iām shocked you parted ways with oats for so long now but that smoothie looks like a great stand in. And I love adding cereal to my yogurt. Itās like a much better version of granola!
Iām glad Iām not the only one who is āStill Eatingā many of the same things sinceā¦.well for a long time!
Oh yum to that chickpea avocado pasta salad! I am heading over to check out the recipe right now!
Iām ALWAYS lacking motivation to cook ā warm, cold, sunny, rainy, itās all the same
I know, I walked down the cereal isle at Target yesterday and wanted it ALL, but left with nothing
Yesterday was a mix of both, dessert for dinner, then an actual unhealthy (re: fast food) dinner! Ugh! Oh well, todayās a new day! Happy eating! xoxo, ganeeban
smoothies and balls.. i think weāre on the same eating train! YES!
āYogurt messāā¦.lol! So delicious looking! I hear you about not wanting to spend so much time in the kitchenā¦.I havenāt been making as many interesting dishes lately!
Aaaaaah so glad the snack plates are back!! You know how I feel about some SNACKS!
Iām either chocolate or fruityā¦itās depending on my mood.
Yesterday was a sweet and savory sandwich. Sweet for breakfast, savory lunch and dinner, sweet bedtime snack.
Hope your having a beautiful day!
That pasta salad looks perfect! I will have to try that at my next cook out. I prefer savory over sweet everyday of the week!
That peach smoothie looks fantastic! The variety of fruit is one of my favorite things about summer.
My smoothies are usually fruit based but I always use bourbon vanilla extract. It is NOT an optional ingredient. Yesterday was a pretty balanced. Lately I have been finding if I eat something sweet at the next feeding time I crave something savory and vice versa.
Yogurt and cereal before bed is fab!
I definitely am more chocolate smoothieā¦ and I seriously need to try that pasta salad, it looks so good!! I have to chew too, which is why Iāve started adding granola/nuts/hemp seeds/carob chips to my smoothies and turning them into a bowl. Canāt wait to see the recipe!
No oats! Who are you, and what have done with Spoons? I demand an explanation.
Actually that breakfast looks an awful lot like mine. I started the day with a fruit and kale filled smoothie on my way into the office. Now Iām enjoying a little break at the office, eating my granola, yogurt and blueberries, while I catch up with your blog.
You know my feelings on pasta. Cannot. Get. Enough so I will happily check out your newest Savory creation and then promptly add it to my growing list of foods to make. Thankfully Iām still spending some time in the kitchen despite the summer time kitchen blues which hit most folks right about now. Iāve got plans to do something indecent to kohlrabi. Expect good things.
Chocolately/fruity smoothies for sure! I love to just add a tablespoon or so of cocoa powder to a fruit smoothieā¦ so tasty!
Yogurt messes are the bomb! I like to do the acai packets in mine. Iām seriously obsessed with them lately. I must try your new cookie dough balls recipe. They sound and look amazing!
You know, I -still- havenāt tried acai, and I keep hearing so many good things! Must.hunt.it.down.
The peaches and cream smoothie looks amazing <3 I can't wait for the recipe! I love smoothies for breakfast, but I need carbs with them as well ā no matter how many veggies and fruits I put in, I'm always hungry an hour later.
I think I love a little bit of fruit with a bit of chocolate ESPECIALLY a chocolate covered banana! Yesterday was definitely a Mexican day for me. I think I had Mexican for every meal except for my oatmeal before bedā¦ And I probably would have had it again if it wouldnāt be extremely uncomfortable burping up salsa while trying to sleep. Eep. Lol
Iām ALWAYS unmotivated to make myself things which require more than 10 minutes or a grill to prepare. Iām a weee bit lazy.
