Oh my dear, sweet almond butter; how do I love thee? Let me count the ways…
I love thee in my breakfast…
… where you make my morning bowl of oats, oat bran, chia seeds, Greek yogurt, and banana that much more creamy and enjoyable.
I love thee in my morning snack…
… even when you’re not technically in buttery form — you still taste pretty good solid, especially when you’ve been soaked overnight and paired with blueberries and white chocolate chips.
I [missed] thee in my lunch…
… where I had to replace you with avocado because I didn’t think you’d taste very good in a salad with chickpeas, cottage cheese, vinaigrette, and veggies. And while I could have had an almond butter and jelly sandwich, what I really wanted were some sweet potato nachos, so I went with those instead. Try not to be too upset with me.
I love thee in my afternoon snack…
… where you added the most wonderful texture and taste to my thick and creamy chocolate smoothie, which was especially refreshing after a gorgeous Canada Day afternoon walk in the park.
I love thee in my dinner…
… where you paired perfectly with the bowl of honey sweetened coconut basmati rice [and Greek yogurt] that I had in an effort to settle a wonky stomach. It worked… thank you.
I [missed] thee in my evening snack…
… buuuuuuut only for a moment because ice cream sandwiches don’t really leave a lot to be desired 😉

All your food looks amazing. I like the balance of healthy and treat in your morning snack!
Sky @ The Blonde In Black
If I wrote an ode to food it would be…pancakes! On a more literature focus I love Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Sonnet 43 has always been one of my favorites. Such a fun post! And ice cream sandwiches, man those things are good.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Woohoo! I was hoping someone would bring up the source of my inspiration 😀
Elle
Um, YES to those sweet potato nachos!!!
Bridget
Right now my ode would be to raw fish… Especially escolar and salmon! Yum!!! But I go through almond butter ode phases as well! Oh! And ode to eggs phases!
Jaclyn @ BumpSweat
My ode would be to sweet potatoes. I love them so much! In fact, I once ate them so often that I turned orange, oops! 🙂
Tatum | EATS From The Oil Patch Blog
I would’ have even judge you a little bit if you had put some AB on your ice cream sammy. Perfectly acceptable 😉
Laura
Love it! I feel like I’m saying an ode to almond/peanut butter all day long, too. I wonder how it would taste on an ice-cream sandwich!? I mean it’s no secret that pb is amazing in ice-cream and on Oreos, and an ice-cream sandwich is kind of the marriage of the two, no? Hmmmm….
Lauren @ Will Run for Boston
What brand of almond butter do you buy? Yours looks much smoother than the kind that I buy.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I have a few favourites! The one in the pictures is Barney Butter, but I’m also a HUGE fan of Maisie Jane’s and Justin’s.
Jen @ Chase the Red Grape
I love thee with a spoon out of the jar!
Almond butter, you are one of the joys of my life! (Is it weird to like a food this much??!! Haha!)
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Ehehe I’m probably not the best person to ask 😛
Jemma @ Celery and Cupcakes
ha1 Great ode to AB! I’ve been on a bit of a roll with it recently too. I think I prefer it to PB right now.
Laur
Almond butter gets all the lovin’. If I were to give an ode, it would be either coffee or Chipotle’s guacamole if I had to choose a food. Seriously, that stuff is crack. I could eat it all day long… Salads, toast, eggs, UGHGIVEMEALLTHEGUAC! :o)
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
You are too cute! Hard to say what my ‘ode’ food would be…probably eggs. Or chocolate. or peanut butter. All three? (but not together….)
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Or all three together in the form of cookies?!?!? 😛
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries
Mmm glad you were able to get some sweet potato nachos! So good, right?
I’d make an ode to peanut butterrrr!
Hollie
I actually haven’t had almond butter or peanut butter in roughly a month. I eat a ton of eggs so I guess I would do an ode to those.
Khushboo
Sooo I take it you are a fan of almond milk ;)..love the stuff too! If recent foods are anything to go by, I’d probably do an ode to spinach, only because I seem to go through bags like water. I’d also do an ode to dark chocolate because errrr…no excuse needed ;)! Love the sound of your dinner, girl!
Ilana
I love any and all posts about almond butter! It really works for any meal of the day! If there isn’t an almond butter ice cream sandwich out there, there needs to be 🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
#truestory Almond butter needs more love on the ice cream front — peanut butter always steals the show!
Ang @ Nutty for Life
My ode to food would be for sure for sure for sure peanut butter. You should have just put a little AB on that ice cream sammie! duhhhhhhh. I just nommed on Nuttzo for breakfast. I’ve had this jar since May and I might have od’d on it just now. Ooops.
Chelsea
The sweet rice for dinner = love. I went on a breakfast-kick with that this winter. With tons of cinnamon. Delish.
[email protected]
I haven’t lived! Honey sweetened coconut basmati rice and Greek yogurt? Bring on my dinner tonight! 🙂
Marjorie
Oh, I echo your love for AB! Sooo good. Confession: I can eat it by the spoonful straight out of the jar. Noms! Hope you are having a great week!
Kat
Man that almond butter sure does get around in your kitchen there, doesn’t it? 😉 Im totally like that with my peanut butter.
Seriously need to get on board with cooking things in coconut milk. Seriously started salivating at that! I can only imagine the creamy goodness that it produces.
Shashi @ runninsrilankan
Haha – Amanda – love this “ode” take on WIAW! So totally unique!
Am getting weak in the knees at the sound of those almonds “soaked overnight and paired with blueberries and white chocolate chips”! Ooooh so yum!
My ode would be to chocolate…but having said that…am sitting here thinking…it’s been 3 days since I last had any…that needs to change…am off to hunt down some or steal some off a coworkers desk 😉
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
3 days?!? From the AB + chocolate queen herself? That’s just not okay 😛
Kim @ Hungry Healthy Girl
Oh yes, the lovely almond butter! Very interesting rice idea. Loving the look of your sweet potato nachos… need those in my life ASAP!
Susie @ SuzLyfe
My ode would be to stone fruit. I adore peaches , cherries, plums, apricots… Thus summer is my jaaaaam. Next up would be ice cream, of course, the special k red berries and oat meal
Amy @ Long Drive Journey
Haha very cute. I was wondering how you were going to incorporate AB into every single meal you ate 😉
Katie @ Daily Cup of Kate
Ooh I never thought about adding AB to rice with yogurt?! Interesting!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
SO good! I adore sweet rice bowls, especially when some homemade applesauce is involved.
Miss Polkadot
Almond butter dressing! That’s all I can say about the salad though I’ve never tried it [not a salad person]. And dipping the ice cream sandwich into the AB jar. Because I’m all about furthering an almond butter addiction to every meal possible. After all I’ve been known to say there was no wrong combination when almond butter is involved and I don’t want to be proven wrong 😉 . Yes, my ode would be to almond butter, too.
By the way: I finally tried cooking rice and other grains in coconut milk and now fully understand why you’re fond of them. So good. Thanks for the inspiration.
Michele @ paleorunningmomma
I am probably alone on this but I would do an ode to sausage ! Can’t get enough of it, as you can probably see in my recipes 🙂
Your sweet potato nachos look awesome!
Brynn
Haha, awesome! I have never had sweet potato nachos and am pretty certain I am missing out big time.
Tina Muir
Oh you look like you go through a jar as quick as I do….gets kinda expensive, but sooooo worth it. I have been mixing golden syrup in mine recently, just a little! Do you have that in Canada? They don’t have it here, but I get my parents/friends to bring it over when they visit 🙂 If I did an ode to food….I am not sure I could pick…….would have to be chocolate I think!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I’m not sure about the golden syrup — I’ll have to keep my eyes open the next time I’m in the store. And have you ever tried making your own AB? I think that’s a little more cost-efficient.
Tina Muir
I already do 🙂 Thats what I was saying about adding the golden syrup- Lyles is the brand 🙂
Heather @fitncookies
Too funny. I’d give an ode to cookies because they are just too delicious not to, lol. For real, though, there isn’t one food I add onto everything. Hmm, I should work on that 😉
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I recommend chocolate 😛
meredith @The Cookie ChRUNicles
What you really need to be doing is adding a shmear of almond butter to the ice cream sandwich.
Sarah
All I gotta say is Ice Cream Sandwich + Nut Butter = Yum! So it needn’t be missing from that snack of yours 🙂
Tiff @ Love, Sweat, & Beers
Ain’t nothin’ wrong with sweet potato nachos. 🙂 Looks great!
Julie @ Coastal Runner Girl
Ha, cute post! 🙂 Those sweet potato nachos look amazingggg!
Kim @ Racing Bananas
This is too cute – love it (and almond butter – yum!!).
Lauren
That dinner looks weirdly amazing. Bananas or nut butter. Currently top nut butter is a battle between almond and cashew – so bloody good!
Christine@ Apple of My Eye
Ahhhh almond butter loooveess to tempt me by being so freakin’ delicious but costing an arm and a leg at the grocery store. For some reason I can’t bring myself to buy a jar since I know it’s only going to last a few days but costs around $10 😯
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Have you ever thought about trying to make your own? I’ve never done it, but I’ll be dabbling soon!
Megan @ The Skinny-Life
Chocolate…need I say more???
Arman @ thebigmansworld
Way to whore out the Almond butter.
But step back..that dinner? HONEY sweetened coconut basmati rice? Oh man.
An ode to potatoes, butter and cheese. The food form of Meghan, Heather and I.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I can’t believe you haven’t tried honey sweetened rice! You NEED to try it — and add butter and salt, obviously 😉
