Happy Friday Eve! 😀
1. I’m happy to report that the wooden spoon situation has been rectified. Voila!
A shiny spiffy new set of ligneous (thank you, thesaurus) spoons! I went out to pick some up earlier this week, because the idea of Running With Spoons lacking spoons is kind of blasphemous. I like them so far, but they feel too new — they need to have a little more of that weathered, beat-up feel to them. Time to get cooking, I guess…
2. And lookit what else I picked up! A bag of Hershey’s Eggies!
Remember how I was lamenting the fact that my beloved Mini Eggs want to kill me “may contain traces of peanuts?” I found an alternative! They’re not quite as good as Mini Eggs (Google it… most people agree), but I can actually eat them so that’s a win in my books. Easter is saved! 😀
3. Please tell me I’m not the only one who gets a good giggle out of this…
You’d think they could have picked a better name 😆 Okay. Growing up now…
4. Remember how I mentioned that I started going back to Bux to get my work done? Well, I think I’ve been in there everyday for the past two weeks… This is my life — from one extreme to the other. But I can’t help it! I have my favourite booth right by a big window and I love sitting there sipping my coffee with the sun shining on my face — boosts my creativity. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
5. Speaking of Starbucks, the last time I was in there, I noticed that the barista making my drink had a lipstick stain on her teeth… so I told her. It felt a little awkward, but I figured it was worse to let her spend who knows how much longer walking around like that. Us girls gotta look out for each other, right? Right.
6. I literally fell out of bed the other morning. I woke up facing the wrong direction (I usually sleep on my right side facing the edge of my bed), and I must have been a little closer to the edge than I realized because when I tried to roll over to grab my phone and check the time, I rolled right off 😯 I do not recommend this as a good way to wake yourself up in the morning — I have a bruise on my shoulder and carpet burn on my knee…
7. So I’ve become one of those people… I’ve started drinking from mason jars…
But before you judge me, hear me out… I was super thirsty the other day but my tumbler was in another room and all my favourite cups were waiting to go through the dishwasher. I noticed a mason jar just hanging out on the counter, and I was feeling super lazy so I went for it and poured myself a glass (jar?!?). I have to admit it’s kind of fun — the grooves at the top make for an interesting drinking experience. Is it weird to notice things like that? Probably. But it is what it is.
8. I need your help! My recipe page is getting a bit messy and I’m looking for a better way to organize it — one that includes categories and pictures of all the dishes. Any advice on how I can go about doing that? Plugins? Magic wands? Snapping my fingers and making it happen?
9. T minus 2 days until I get to see these gorgeous sights again…
I’m heading up to the mountains again on Saturday morning for what’ll probably be my last chance to snowboard this season. Can.not.wait.
10. And I hope you don’t mind if I leave you with a little taste of what’s coming up tomorrow…

Haha falling out of bed is the worst. I’ve definitely done that before. Lately I’ve been running into EVERYTHING so I have bruises all over my legs. It’s painful being clumsy. Seeing those eggies makes me want to go buy my favorite starburst jellybeans… I haven’t had any easter candy yet this year which is kind of a problem.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Gah don’t even get me started on jellybeans. They have these sour ones that aren’t really sour that come out around this time of the year, and I have absolutely no control around them. Might have to stock up on a few bags when the sales hit.
Kate @ Baking in Yoga Pants
Carpet burn is the worst!
And drinking out of a Mason Jar is basically my favorite thing to do. Okay, maybe not my favorite, but I love it. It feels so old fashioned. Like sitting on my porch, drinking sweet tea out of a mason jar. Okay, I’m done 🙂
Chelsea @ A Fit LittleOne
Those little “Eggies” just sound weird haha Seriously, I’ve never heard of them before. And I couldn’t help but laugh at the brand name, they should look into getting that fixed for us immature one’s sake. And yay for the snow!!! I wish I had snow like that closer to me!! Well I wish I also had a snow board haha And that booth at starbucks by the window, goregous view!! I would want to go there everyday to work too!! Can.Not.Wait. for those little chocolate balls tomorrow!!!
lindsay
chocolate bites, wooden spoons, mason jars… i think you read my mind this morning. Love them all!
do not love your poor knee though
Megan (The Lyons' Share)
Can’t wait to hear more comments on recipe organization (respond about this part, people!!! :)) – I so desperately need that!
Amy@Long Drive Journey
I ran INTO my bed the other night. I usually turn the overhead light off before getting into bed, but I forgot that night. So I got up, turned it off, and must have turned the corner a little too close because I ran into the foot of my bed. The corner. And then I fell on the ground. It was awesome (and by awesome I mean awful) and my leg still hurts!
You know, I realized that I don’t actually know what you do when you mention work! You are taking some classes…right? And do you blog full time? Can’t believe I don’t know these things!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
😆 Probably because I don’t talk about them since they don’t have anything to do with the healthy living world. We have a family business that I help manage, and I’m in the process of starting my own health/nutrition coaching business as well.
Katie @ Daily Cup of Kate
I would totally appreciate someone telling me I have lipstick on my teeth! Cant wait for your new recipe!
Nichole
I hope you having an amazing last time snowboarding! Have fun! Those fudge bites look amazing! I cannot wait!
JenB
I know so many people rave about those Cadbury mini eggs, but they just don’t appeal to me at all. I mean I will eat them, but they do not tempt me. Of course there are PLENTY of other Easter treats that do. I love the Whoppers mini robin eggs!
I like your books behind the mason jar in the picture. I have not jumped on the drinking out of a mason jar trend … first, I don’t know that I have any laying around, and the feel of the ridges would just be too weird.
Ashley
Teehee…Double D.
I drink out of mason jars…but only because I broke all my regular drinking glasses…oopsies!
Kim@hungryhealthygirl
Tomorrow looks delicious! I use the plugin and site recipage to organize my recipes. It’s really easy to use and I’ve been pretty happy with it.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I have a Recipage page as well, but I was looking for something for my regular recipe page, especially since I’ve heard that Recipage isn’t great for SEO.
Kim @ Hungry Healthy Girl
Oh…. I’ll be interested to see what you come up with. I may want a separate page as well. 😉
Brittany
1. Mini Eggs are so good. I’m glad you found an alternative!
2. Those protein bite looks delicious. Can’t wait for the recipe. 🙂
Lisa C.
Oh, girl, those snowy mountains…..no, it’s spriiiiing! We are getting up to 70F this weekend just in time for Little League Opening Day! 3 of my 4 boys are playing. I can’t wait!!!
TiffLovesweatandbeers
Oh you’re such a tease! 😉 I totally bought some mason jars not long ago. They look perfect for lemonade!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
And iced coffee 😀
Shannon
Oh no! Falling out of bed is the worst. Seeeriously like skipping a step in the dark – sorry about your injuries!
Yes, always tell a girl when she has food on her face or lipstick somewhere where it shouldn’t be. Good call, lady.
Thoooose chocolate protein bites look SO DELICIOUS. Can’t wait! 🙂 They look like brownies, for the love of chocolate…!
And that celery… bahahaha. Good one there too 😉
Caitlin
now that’s just mean to tease us with that 😉 Can’t wait for tomorrow! Aiii I used to fall out of bed all the time, so I feel your pain. Hasn’t happened in a while, though, so I probably just set myself up for that one tomorrow 😛
Shashi @ RunninSrilankan
Haha – yup, that celery could def. have been renamed-but, I did an ad for a company that called themselves “Double D Landscaping” because the owners names both started with “D”-took some convincing to get these guys to put their pictures in the ad as people might call them for the wrong reasons, otherwise 🙂
Yay on the procurement of the wooden spoons! And yes, us gals gotta stick together -I am sure that barista was glad you told her – wish I had tips on recipe organization but I don’t have any personal exp – I have seen some folks mention “ziplist” which is said to have a recipe saving feature too.
As for those protein bites – GAH – such a tease! 🙂
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
Don’t you feel just a little more legit with wooden spoons? Although you’re definitely right that they have to be broken in a little.
And yay for Mini Eggs that you can eat! I actually haven’t bought any yet…I’m waiting until after Easter weekend when they all go on mega sale.
I’m actually amazed that I don’t fall out of bed on a regular basis. Eric has a tendency to sleep right in the middle of the bed, so I have to continuously scoot over (I hate skin-on-skin contact when I’m trying to sleep…it makes me overheat!) and between him and the pug taking up all the room, I usually wake up balancing on the edge.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Well then you’ll be happy to know that I stick to my side and don’t tend to move around too much 😛
Ksenija @ With An Open Mind
Chocolate Fudge Protein Bites? And they look as if I don’t need an oven for it. I will be all over them 🙂 !
Regarding the recipe page – I faced a similar problem a few months ago (aka when I was posting recipes way more regularly) and searched for a solution which uses my categories for organizing recipes and showing excerpts with pictures. So far I am using WP Category Post List Widget, which does the job, but I am still on the lookout for one which allows to modify the design of the excerpts.
Ksenija @ With An Open Mind
oh, and “happy Friday” 😉 ?
Krista @ Tiny n Fit
I love the cadbury mini eggs- and the Reese’s ones, too! Not really of fan of peeps, though- way way too sweet for me. It’s weird though- it’s starting to feel like Spring, I see all the Easter stuff out, but it doesn’t feel like Easter time to me?
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I was literally just thinking about that yesterday. Easter is next week but it hardly feels like it at all. I have no idea why!
Heather @fitncookies
Haha so glad you got some spoons in your life! I never know what to do with awkward moments for others, haha. I’m glad you told her about the lipstick, though. I’d like someone to tell me. Mason jars are so fun; I have seen actual water glasses with lids and straws in them made from mason jars- brilliant idea. Ok those protein bites look incredible! Can’t wait to hear what’s in them 🙂
Megan @ The Skinny-Life
Are wodden spoons better to cook with? I’ve never owned one, but they sure are pretty! I love mason jars. I make overnight oats in mine, but they’re always nice for a smoothie too. Those balls look amazing! I saw them on instagram last night. I can’t wait for the recipe. I think you need to seriously consider an ecookbook.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
That’s what I’ve heard, but I haven’t had mine long enough to be able to tell. And an e-book is definitely on the to-do list… Now to find the time!
Erin @ The Almond Eater
Yay for being able to eat Easter eggs! And hey at least they are Hershey’s and not some weird random brand. Now that you mention it, I don’t think I’ve ever drank out of a mason jar other than a smoothie with a straw… but who’s the weird one me or you? lol I’m going to say ME and give it a try.
Jen @ Chase the Red Grape
Yay wooden spoons!!!! 🙂
Lauren-Kate
Those chocolate bites look so good – can’t wait for the recipe!
I bought some mason jars the other week so I could drink my smoothies on the train instead of downing a glass of brain freeze before I run out of the door… I need to use it!
That view of the mountains is stunning – wish I could join you – still need to learn to snowboard – I am not sure a little hill in London suffices…
meredith @ The Cookie ChRUNicles
I have a gift card to Starbucks yet choose to sit at Panera most mornings instead because I can’t stand how uncomfortable the chairs are at my local Bux. Disappointing isn’t it? Not to mention, the lighting at this one location is terrible for my computer screen. I should really head to a different location just to use my gift card.
Chelsea
I can’t believe you cook without wooden spoons!!! I use rhem for everrrrything. I’ve grown partial to darker stained bamboo ones. They feel all..hearty.
Your celery. That’s what she said.
Your mason jar?! Uhm. Love drinking out of mason jars. And these make it sooo amazing! http://cuppow.com/collections/cuppow-jar-drinking-lids
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
😯 I need those in my life.
Chelsea
They are especially amazing for on-the-go smoothies. I like the ones with the straw holes 🙂
Megan @ Meg Go Run
I have a funny wooden spoons story… at least I think it is funny. When I was a kid, I wanted to feel “old timey” so I would sometimes make oatmeal and eat it from a wooden spoon. I was so weird!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I used to roast marshmallows over my parents stove, so I don’t think you need to worry about being weird 😉
Lucie@FitSwissChick
Oh, I want Mini Eggs! I need to go to look for something similar in our supermarkets.
I will go on Easter again up to the Alps!! THIS will probably be my last time too. Sigh……I definitely need tp lan smarter next season, cause I missed way too many gorgeous snowboarding days.
And oh how I would love to hang out at bux with you all day!!
Amanda @ Diary of a Semi-Health Nut
Seriously wooden spoons are the best for cooking.
Mason jars are fun and I was late to the party too, but I can blame the BF for getting us started. He was actually drinking flavored water out of one and driving the other day..which looked weird because people apparently use those jars for moonshine haha
I use recipage for the recipe organization part. I found out a few months ago Recipage for recipes is bad for SEO so now I just put a link to the post in the recipage recipe and use a different app for the recipe on the post. Silly, but…SEO can be silly sometimes.
Arman @ thebigmansworld
Hahahahaha. Twinning. I have a ball recipe tomorrow too. Good vibrations?
And drinking out of Jars….who ARE you? I remember using them in kinder to clean my paintbrush! I wish the ‘starbucks’ hangouts were popular here- our coffee culture, while the taste is good, the notion does not promote chilling out there!
Gabi
Friday Eve is a wonderful new name for Thursday–it just sounds better right?! Maybe because it has Friday in it…so immediately us humans associate that with the best day of the week because the weekend is right around the corner..maybe 🙂
As for the spoons and breaking them in- so agree! At first it’s like they are wooden sticks that need character, and then they become the one thing we can’t stop thinking about when making a new recipe- “I just want to lick the spoon!”
Your relationship with Starbucks is like mine with Panera green tea. Having a usual table that sparks inspiration, and we MUST SIT THERE! Like high school too, when someone sits at your table..you feel betrayed..like someone took your spot..haha..
P.S. Never have participated in thinking out loud, but recently was inspired by a post that is really “me thinking out loud about our world” and I plan on making a submission next week.
Thanks Amanda,
Gabi
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Would love to have you join! Writing random stream of consciousness posts is definitely therapeutic. Happy Thursday, Gabi!
Ms.J
Ouch! Carpet burn is killers. Falling out of bed, drinking out of a mason jar, leaving us hanging with a fudgy(!) chocolate recipe…quite the norm yes 😉 .
Oh I’m sure you know the only way to thoroughly “break in” your..erm..ligineous? spoons is to chase someone around the house with it..and then give them a good rapping :p .
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Awwr but I don’t have anything to chase 🙁 The only living thing in my home (to my knowledge) is one plant, and he’s not all that active.
Christine@ Apple of My Eye
Glad Easter is saved for you! I’ve actually never tried those mini eggs before, but I guess you can’t miss what you never had ;). I’ll have to keep my eye out for them! Hahaha the immature college student in me is loving the crude name. And for celery? I think they’re purposefully trying to bring phallic images to mind.
Those balls (this post is just filled with inappropriate references) look delicious! CAN’TTTT WAIT for the recipe!
