It’s Thursday and you know what that meansโฆ ๐
1. By the time you read this, I’ll either be: a) on my way to the airport, b) at the airport, c) on a plane, or d) back at home. It was great to get away for a little while (and go to Disneylanddddd!! ๐ ), but I always look forward to getting back to my own bed, kitchen, and routine.
2. That being said, I’m not looking forward to getting back to this…
(recycled pic, but it looks exactly the same)
Yupโฆ my Christmas tree is still up. I had every intention of taking it down before I left, but it just never happened. It’ll get doneโฆ eventuallyโฆ I hope ๐ฏ At least it adds a lovely touch of green to my home?
3. You’ll never believe my [bad] luck. I travelled over 1300 miles in hopes of picking up a jar a 6-month supply of Justin’s maple almond butter while I was down in Cali, but the two Whole Foods I visited didn’t have any in stock! I mean, they did, but it wasn’t the kind that’s peanut-free. Le boo. Ahh wellโฆ I still made out alright ๐
4. And at least I got to kiss Pluto ๐
5. And hang out with Dug! (any Up fans out there?)
6. I also may or may not have brought home a little souvenirโฆ because I am all of 12 years old at heart.
Meet Duffy the Disney Bear — Mickey’s teddy. I had no idea he existed until I saw him in the store window and fell in love. And don’t even try to tell me that you could resist that faceโฆ I won’t believe you.
7. And you won’t believe what I missed the most while I was gone. Not my bed; not my routine; not the familiarityโฆ but cinnamon. Mmm hmm. I almost picked up a shaker when I was in Whole Foods so that I’d be able to add it to my oats and yogurt. You know you’re an addict whenโฆ ๐ฏ
8. Actually, I take that backโฆ having constant internet connection is probably what I missed the most. I didn’t buy a data plan for my cell phone while I was gone, which means that the only place I could get online was the hotelโฆ aaaaaand the only time I was in the hotel was basically when I was sleeping. I’m all for disconnecting, but a week without texting and blogging is a little too long!
9. You guys are going to have to forgive me for not being the best linkup host this week. I always try to comment on all the posts that link up with ToL, but I’m not sure how I’ll manage it this time around since I’ll be travelling all day and won’t get home until later in the evening. I’ll do my best to catch up this weekend, though… I miss you guys!
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl
NO Maple AB?? That is SO wrong ๐ I’m sorry!
Tatum
I can totally relate to coming home to the kitchen + routine. That first breakfast home after vacation is THE BEST. Hope you had a great trip girl ๐
Cassie
I still love buying stuffed animals too! Of course, I don’t have anything to do with them once they get home, so… hmm. Problem?
Sarah @ Sarah Sincerely
Looks like a pretty wonderful trip! I love getting back home after a trip. Not that I didn’t enjoy the trip, I just like home too. ๐ I must say, I’m always so impressed that you take the time to comment on all the blogs that link up with you on Thursdays. So thoughtful and so encouraging. Hope you made it home safely!
Tamara
I love UP!! Safe travels to you. xo
Caitlin
Oh my gosh I feel like an old woman not knowing who that Disney character is from “Up”! I lost interest in animated movies awhile ago and I think the last one I saw that I really enjoyed immensely was “Finding Nemo”. I’m one of the few who hasn’t bothered to go see “Frozen” or even “Toy Story 3”.
Safe travels home!
Tiffany
Every time we get to visit California from my home in Alabama we always hit up the Trader Joes (don’t have one) and get a ton of their organic teas. They’re delicious and I can never get my hands on them back home. If it makes you feel any better I didn’t even put up a tree this year for that reason – we took 2 weeks out of town to visit family for Christmas and the last thing I wanted to do is come home to unpack AND take down a tree we didn’t even see on Christmas day. Call me the grinch LOL! Looks like you had fun – thanks for sharing the linkup.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I’m kind of sad that I didn’t make it to TJs yet again. Apparently my family doesn’t think that grocery shopping is a priority on the vacation to-do list ๐ก
Diana @sosmallsostrong
OOOOHHH the purchases look good! I can NOT have that much almond butter in my home..it wouldn’t stand a chance of surviving!! ๐
The bear is adorable, I hope you had a wonderful time on your trip.
Get Home Safe ..xoxo
Amy@Long Drive Journey
Hey girl hey! Glad you’ll be coming back soon! Safe travels!
cait @ pieceofcait
save travels back!
ugh love justins, just got a jar and already half way through! I neeeeed more ๐
Kelsey @ Ramblings of Change
I agree – I totally missed our little apartment and my routine while I was in FL, but loved being able to see my mama and just give myself time to relax. One con – she didn’t have internet so I felt pretty disconnected while I was gone, especially with blog reading & writing. And I had a plan to do so much with my blog. Darn. AND DUG?!?! Up is one of my favorites. Heck, I might have to watch it tonight when I have “me-night” since its “guys night” for my boyfriend…
Chelsea
I hope your travels home were safe an painless!
Your poor Christmas tree! Now I don’t feel so bad about still having my decorations box in my living room!
Not enough Justin’s, you need more!! Let me know when you run out ๐
That teddy bear?! Adorable!!! ๐
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Travels hoe were -bumpy- but relatively painless. And I’m trying to ration myself to make my butters last until my trip to Blend in June, buuuuuuut I don’t think it’s going to happen.
Chelsea
I’m always happy to replenish your stock. ๐
Brittany @ Delights and Delectables
I miss my routine and internet while I’m gone too, but I’m glad you got to disconnect for a wee bit! I travel with cinnamon everywhere I go!!! lol!
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat
Can’t wait to hear your Disneyland Recap! I’m kind of jealous of you being able to venture into some warm and sunny weather!
Bummer the Whole Foods wasn’t fully stocked with Justin’s maple almond butter. At least you were able to re-stock on a few things! I haven’t tried Biscoff yet. That’s something I definitely need to pick-up!
Carly @ Snack Therapy
Isn’t Disneyland just the best? I love it so so much. It just brings back amazing childhood memories. I’m so glad that you got to stock up at Whole Foods!
Safe travels home <3.
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
Ahhhh Whole Foods fail!! It looks like you managed alright though :-p and the cookie butter!! You’ll have to tell me how that is.
Disconnecting for an entire week would be a challenge. Hell, some days disconnecting for a few hours is hard enough. Buuuuuut I’m excited that you’ll be reconnected soon! <3
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I blame you for being behind some of my disconnecting woes ๐
Ang @ Nutty for Life
I didn’t know Mickey had a bear! That’s so cute and a really different souvenir. Looks like a really wonderful trip. I always love traveling but it amazes me how much I do want to get back to the “boring” daily routine after being away for a week or so. Once we went on vacay for two weeks, and by the end of it I really missed home/was going crazy. Also, let me know what Prince Charming said when you get a chance ๐
Chelsea @ A Fit LittleOne
Now I really want to go to Disneyland!!! I have gone in 13 years!!! Aw that’s poo they didn’t have any stock!!! And I find a bit weird that they weren’t better prepared :/. But at least you still got some goods ๐ Awww I love Doug! He was almost my favorite part of that movie haha
Danica @ It's Progression
I always miss my kitchen/”normal” meals when I travel, too ๐
Wishing you safe travels home today!!
Sarah @pickyrunner
So glad you had fun! I spy cookie butter and that makes me veryyyy excited ๐
Becky @ Olives n Wine
I’m so glad you’re having a blast in California! You’re going to have to share the DL so I know what to do when I finally make it to a Disney park ๐ And, I didn’t know that there were some types of Justin’s that had peanut in them? Do they have multiple factories?! Such a bummer!! If you tell me the peanut secrets, I can ship you a few jars ๐ Safe travels home! XOXO
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
They do have separate factories! #happydance They actually all used to contain traces of peanuts, but they changed it about a year ago I think? It was a good day when I found out ๐ The peanut-free ones have a slightly shorter label, a peanut-free symbol, and a note about being made in a peanut-free facility under the ingredients list.
Kim @ Racing Bananas
Yay for almond butter! Hope you had a fantastic trip ๐ I agree about unplugging – it’s nice to not be attached to my cell phone all the time, but a week without texting and blogging? That would be tough!!
Tina Muir
WOw! Looks like you had an incredible time! I am so jealous! Sorry about the nut butter though ๐ Since I have been off gluten free, I have been digging my spoon far into my trader joes cookie butter…..not good! I also tried a fried pb&j sandwich last night….it was AMAZING! Good thing I run 70 miles a week huh! Probably not the most nutritious foods, but if you can go on vacation to disney….athletes can splurge a little :p Right?
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Jar to spoon to mouth is probably my favourite way to eat nut butters — and grilled [ab]&js are amazing. I haven’t had one in way too long, and now that I’m back in my kitchen, it’s definitely time to change that…
Heather @fitncookies
I can’t wait to hear all about your trip! I’m sure it was so much fun! Safe travels home <3
Alex @ therunwithin
um I am dying to try the Barney butter flavors but I can’t find any near me. Sad day. Very sad day. I am pretty jealous of those pictures with characters, hope you had a great time lady
Hollie
I’m glad you had a great time! It honestly looks like a lot of fun.
I cannot believe they were sold out of all the nut butters. That just seems like a foodie sin LOL.
Elise @ 9toFit.com
I need to try out this Justin’s stuff! If it’s worth stockpiling it must be good
Erin @ The Almond Eater
I would definitely have a hard time disconnecting for an entire week. I feel like most people would, though. Your almond butter supply looks just like mine haha I always have at leassssst 4 jars in my cupboard at a time. Sounds like you had a great trip!
Ksenija @ With An Open Mind
We’ve missed you too! Your trip sounds super lovely, but still happy that you are back to a regular internet connection soon ๐ Guess I chose the right week to take a ToL-break and focus on my thesis. I hope I’ll manage to join in next week.
And how cute is this pic of you an Goofy!!! Though I would have totally preferred to kiss Dug, since Up is the most heart-touching Disney movie of all time!
Kim @ BusyBod
This is my first week linking up and I just wanted to say thanks so much for hosting! Writing without the pressure of structure was so liberating, such a fabulous idea.
Have a safe trip home snuggling Duffy ๐
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Thanks for joining, Kim! These are definitely some of my favourite posts to write for exactly the reason that you mentioned. And I love reading ’em because it’s a great way to get to know people ๐
Lucie@FitSwissChick
Oh NO!! Whole Foods was out of your favorite nutbutter?? Not acceptable. I still think you got a nice collection out of it…..
And welcome back!! Good to know you’re around again – I missed you!!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Miss youuuuu! It’s definitely weird to be out of the blogging loop for so long, and even weirder trying to get back into it ๐ Still need to reply to your e-mail — sorry, love!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
That is the best cinnamon! Way to stock up ๐ Even though I am sure that will only last a month or two, haha!
Meg @ Meg Go Run
Safe travels! ๐
Ms.J
I’ll say you made out alright with that sweet looking stash! The veiw from up in the clouds is glorious.
Oh yeah, Up is a winner and getting to hang with Dug must have been super cool ๐ .
I can’t go a day without cinnamon! Funny enough I did ‘survive’ on my last trip without it :p
I have to say I’ll be glad to have you ‘back’ ๐
Beth @ Mangoes and Miles
Boo for having to leave Disneyland and beautiful California! ๐ I can’t wait to hear all about it, though! I’ve had a severe case of the childhood magical things blues lately because Universal is building a giant Harry Potter extension and I don’t know the next I can get down to Orlando to see it.
I don’t know how anyone could NOT be a fan of Up. One of my favorite movies ever. Also, the Dug suit totally just looks like a giant stuffed animal. It’s fantastic.
Jessie
I had the SAME luck when it came to nut butters while I was visiting the States in September. Seriously, its like they knew we were coming & said Oh well sorry try again next year. JERKS!
Anyways, so happy you had such a wonderful time w/ your Momma in Disney. Looking forward to hearing all about your adventures ๐
Arman @ thebigmansworld
I love your scheduled posting time- it fits PERFECTLY to the time I sign off from blogging- but just in time to add my link and rant on here.
As if WF didn’t have the goodies….fail on their part. Also, where are those minnie mouse ears?! Ah well, YAY for being back in tech world. The morning routine can go back to normal ๐
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
The ears make an appearance in some pics! I just have to ninja those from the fam. And clearly you just need to start staying up an extra 4 hours so you can catch when I regularly post ๐
