It’s Thursday, and you know what that means! π π π
1. You know that exciting news I mentioned at the end of yesterday’s post? Time to spill the beans… this girl’s going to Disneyland! π π Come Saturday morning, I’ll be hopping on a plane bound for LAX and looking forward to enjoying 5 days in sunny California.
Here’s the story… My mom had a bunch of vacation days that she needed to use up before March, so about a month ago we started looking at a few places that we might want to take a quick trip to. We couldn’t really decide on a place to go, so when I got asked to write a post for Disney, I casually brought up the idea of going to Disneyland, not really thinking anyone would be too interested. Lo and behold, Mom loved the idea, and we ended up booking our trip that same day. Can.not.WAIT.
2. Is it sad that, as excited as I am to visit the Magic Kingdom, I’m almost equally as excited to go here?
(not here here, since that particular Chipotle is in Vegas, but I need a burrito bowl in my life)
3. β¦ and here?…
(circa 2012)
4. What can I say? It’s not easy living up here in the foodie wasteland that is Canada (or anywhere that isn’t the States, for that matter). This is what I’m currently losing sleep over…
That would be my jar of Justin’s maple almond butterβ¦ or what’s left of it. I picked up a couple of jars the last time I was down in the States for HLS, and the only reason they’ve lasted this long is because I’ve been doing some serious rationing and rotating. You better believe that I’ll be travelling with a half-empty suitcase so that I can stock up on some of my favourite foods while I’m down there! How many jars of AB do you think I would need to last me for at least 6 months?..
5. In other grocery-related news, look what my snack tooth made me do…
Cinnamon Puffins — Enjoy Life crunchy rice cereal — Mediterranean Snacks cucumber dill baked lentil chips — Enjoy Life mountain mambo trail mix — Dr. Kracker pumpkin seed cheddar crispbread — Belsoy dark chocolate pudding
6. In other travel-related news, the dates and location were finally announced for Blend 2014, so Park City, Utah is where I’ll be from June 6-8 this year. After spending enough time kicking myself for not going in the past, I made it a point to attend this year, so if you need me, that’s where I’ll be.
7. As for where I’ve beenβ¦ in the elevator taking selfies of myself in boarding gear snowboarding. Lots and lots of snowboarding…
The weather in these parts has been insanely warm for January (a few degrees above freezing), so I’ve been spending as much time on the hill as I can manage.
8. The only downside to all this boarding is the fact that my appetite has been out.of.control, which might partially explain #5… and the fact that half of the things in that haul are already gone. Oops? π―
9. Some advice… DO NOT try to swallow vitamins while chewing gum. Trust meβ¦ just don’t do it.
10. DO share your random thoughts with me! It’s become one of the highlights of my Thursdays π
Miranda @ Lovely Wife Lovely Life
So, so jealous!! I’m not going on a trip until June when I go on my bachelorette party, and then July for my honeymoon! Late winter is the best time to go on vacation because it gets ya out of the cold, dreary weather! π
Alex @ Kenzie Life
Yeah Chipotle! Probably the best thing to come out of Colorado…besides the Fray…and Celestial Seasonings…and One Republic. I think it’s a tie π Try the salad dressing when you get a burrito bowl, it usually comes with the salads (the only difference between a salad and burrito bowl is the lettuce is on the bottom in a salad and on top in the bowl) but it’s worth asking for because it makes it about 10 times better π Hope you have an awesome trip!
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
I’m definitely jealous of your Disney trip! That’d be so much fun as an adult. I’ve been to Disneyland before, but I was three months old so I’m going to go ahead and say that that doesn’t count.
And I’ve had such a freakin’ craving for Puffins this week, but I haven’t made it out to the grocery store yet. But yeees, stock up on the ALL the almond butters!!
And as for Blend….I VOLUNTEER! π
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries
Awww YAY!
YAY for TWO reasons: 1) Disneyland; 2) BLEND! I’m hoping to go to Blend this year. I mean, after all, it’s a 45 minute drive from where I live! Hopefully I’ll get to meet you!
P.S. Loving how successful your “Thinking Out Loud” link up has become! You rock, girlfriend!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
OMIGOODNESS! Sorry for the caps, but I’m really hoping you’ll end up going because I would -love- to meet you!
Mary Frances
Girl, I’m loving your snack tooth! And I couldn’t agree more – whenever I ski, I feel like I eat all.the.time. You are so cute in your elevator selfies! π I can’t wait to hear how Disney goes! Emjoy the weather for me, ‘k? Oh, and I think I’d need have the store if I was buying six months worth …
Melanie @ BeautifullyNutty
That is one delicious snack bundle right there.
Emma @ Life's A Runner
I saw Justin’s Almond Butter in a Starbucks Bistro Box once and bought it solely for that – it was the honey, not the maple, but was still ah-mazing. Have an fantastic time in Disneyland! Don’t forget to take a picture with Mickey. π
Kate @ Quarter Century Southern Living
Enjoy your trip to Disneyland! I hope it is all things magical π
You will absolutely love Blend! The location is beautiful and it was so fun to meet so many amazing ladies!!
Carly @ Snack Therapy
Is it weird if I come crash your Disneyland adventure? Yes? Damn.
You’ll have the BEST time at Blend. I likely won’t be going, because that weekend marks the start of finals week. Yes, we have Saturday finals. Yes, it’s the dumbest thing ever. Sigh.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Well there goes my happy mood π₯
Jen @ SavedbytheKale
I love Chipotle and Whole Foods! Everytime I visit a city with Whole Foods I have to to go and do a restock on all my favorite things. I still cannot make my mind up about the Blend Retreat…..argh!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Can I make up your mind for you? π
Jen @ SavedbytheKale
Please, please do!!!
MIZ
NO WAY!!
Id be so so so excited to get to the KINGDOM too!!
Chelsea
Ahhh yay!!! So excited for you!! As far as Chipotle’s…we have one ABOUT TO OPEN right beside my office. I plan to eat there…every day. And Whole Foods?! You mean heaven?! Ours is 2 hours away, but we try to get there often. Luckily we can buy Justin’s locally. If you ever need a shipment of American goodies just let me know…my husband is addicted to Canadian kitkats π
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Are they different from American Kitkats?
Chelsea
Yes! They taste amazing. American KitKats taste a lot like … plastic! The chocolate tastes really cheap. Canadian ones have an awesome rich flavor. (same goes for most of their chocolate!)
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Whaaaaat? We might have to look into this…
Chelsea
π I did a taste comparison video a few months back of a lot of Canadian candy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0Hz4uwenIA
Canadian wins hands down.
Kim @ Racing Bananas
I’m so jealous of your trip to Disneyland! I keep casually bringing it up in my life – and no one is interested. But I’m definitely planning on going to Blend this year, and Park City, UT, is amazing, so I’m totally looking forward to that (and meeting awesome blends in real life!).
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Woo! π It’ll be great to meet you, lady!
Caitlin
Omg that mountain mix thing is AMAZING!! The boys and I go through bags of that like it’s our job. I pick out the chocolate chips for Peanut, the dried fruit and chocolate chips for Big Kid, and then I eat whatever is left (keeping a few chocolate chips and pieces of dried fruit for me too π ). Sooo good!! Have a blast in Disneyland, girl!! Super jealous of that one but also very excited π Enjoy stocking up on all your favorites, too! Definitely something that I’m doing this weekend π
Kelly @ Kelly Runs for Food
Linked up today! I’m super super jealous you’re going to Disneyland (and somewhere warm)! We may do Disney World (in Florida) for our vacation this year and May seems way too far away!
Cori @ olivetorun
Woot Woot! Exciting! I hope you all have a great time in the Magical land π
Andrea @ Pencils and Pancakes
That’s like me when I go home and I can get to a WEgmans….stock up on EVERYTHING
Erin @ The Almond Eater
I tried to link up and I thought it worked but apparently not. Help me? It’s ok….I’m 99% sure I did something wrong. Ahhh well….
Disneyland?? AHHHH that’s going to be so much fun. Almost as fun as that Chipotle trip π And Blend hmmhmm I will have to look into it. It’s been in the back of my mind for awhile but I only get so many vacation days soooo…..we’ll see.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Sorry I didn’t get to your comment in time, but it looks like you made things work. And it’s only one weekend π You can swing it!
TiffLovesweatandbeers
Disney Land, yaaaay! Take me with yououou!! On the other hand, don’t take me snowboarding though. I’m a wimp in the cold.
Tina Muir
Great thoughts! It is so funny how foodies get so excited about the idea of a particular food. My coworkers get mad (or laugh) at me when we go on a trip and I am looking up all the places I wanna eat to make the most of it….so we dont end up at McDonalds, but to them it really has no implication on their life…..in fact they said if they could eat a pill that fed them for the rest of their lives…they would!!!!! That blows my mind! They are men though π
So excited for you to have a great time in Disney, and so very jealous! I understand your missing food pains of Canada, I have a similar thing with what I miss from home, my suitcase is always 60% food from England! Have a wonderful time!
Nicole @ FruitnFitness
Disneyland is so exciting! As is getting to go to all your favorite US stores. I hope you make sutre to stock up on some Justins almond butter! Question: Why would you try to swallow vitamins while chewing gum?
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
π That’s a very good question. And I have no answer other than pure laziness…
Alex @ therunwithin
waitttt is there room in your suitcase for one more? for real. I could so go for some disney land fun. I have been craving a vacation lately which is so unlike me. I don’t know, the lack of routine just really speaks to me right now. ps you always have the best snacks. yummy
Elise @ 9toFit.com
and my jealousy continues about all your snowboarding.. you look bada$$ chica in that pic lol
Ashley @ Kick Ash Mom
I want to go to Disney! That’s awesome! I always love your snowboarding pics. I tell ya what, snow boarding gear makes a person look very cool.
Hollie
Wow that is seriously so exciting and have fun this weekend. I really want to go to California myself (obviously why I’m self promoting myself like no ones business).
Chipotle is the best seriously. You won’t regret it.
PoPpy @ Persistence Over Perfection
Oooh Disney, how exciting! I’ve never been, but would like to! Hope you have a fab time π
Jessie
Ah! I had a feeling after your post you’d be heading to Disney soon. I’m so excited for you! You & your Momma are gonna have an absolute blast. Can’t wait to hear all about it once you return & of course see all your food goodies. Perhaps you should bring an empty suitcase along to treck it all back? π
Kelly @ Femme Fitale
So exciting about Disney and Cali!!! Happy packing and planning. It’ll be nice to escape the AB winter!
Oh, and speaking of foodie wastelands…come venture through an aisle at an Australia grocery store. Then you’ll feel better about the Superstore and Safeway. Ask Arman. It’s ridiculous.
So glad I could finally participate in this link up π woot!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Oh I definitely know how bad it can be — I have to deal with it when I go visit my family in Europe, which has amazing food, but is definitely lacking on cereals and nut butters.
Liz S.
Yahoo!!!! Have a blast, girl π
Kim @ Hungry Healthy Girl
How exciting! You’re going to have so much fun and get so many goodies. I’ve been contemplating going to Blend too, but that time is really hard for me. My son will be going on a school trip, so I’ll have to find out when he has to leave (it’s around that time). Hopefully, I can make it happen!
Meg @ Meg Go Run
I am excited you get to go to Disney because I know you love it! :o)
Lucie@FitSwissChick
Awww, so jealous of your trip to Disneyland!! Take tons of pics, so I can live through you ok?
Ugh, June….that’s probably too early for me to attend a conference π π I definitely would need a little more time to gather the money together…..
I will be up on the slopes Friday next week! I can NOT wait.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Well that just gives me a huge sad face π₯ And can you believe that I’m actually going to -miss- the snow while I’m gone? A week without boarding will be tough…
Shawn @ Fruity 'N' Nutty
How exciting! I haven’t been to Disneyland in years and would love to go again some day. I always get so jealous of the foods American healthy living bloggers can get so easily but are extremely hard to find everywhere else.
Hope you have fun on your trip!
shashi @ http://runninsrilankan.com
Yay for the Disneyland trip! And the simultaneous Whole Foods and Chipotle trips!
I am impressed at how long you made those jars of Justins last!
Have a lovely day, lovely lady!
Ms.J
Eeeeee you going to Disney again!! Pack me in your suitcase??
My roasted almond butter just breathed its last spoonful π ..and I only get the white almond butter over here which isn’t bad, but you know..the grass is always greener..!
Ohmygosh the pudding I get comes in exactly the same packaging (colors, writing etc) but its called Alpro not Belsoy. Weird.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I think it’s just American vs. European versions of the same company.
Ksenija @ With An Open Mind
How exciting that right after writing your love letter to Disneyland, you can actually go there. You should at least get free entries for the free advertising π I hope you have an awesome time and make sure to eat a Chipotle burrito for me too! Somehow people are to keen to spend there money on partying here and not so keen to spend it on eating out. I really have to make the girls to fetch some Thai food, or at least some classic French food with me soon.
Arman @ thebigmansworld
I’ve told you before but I love your ToL posts because it is perfectly suited to Aussie time. Actually, I logged on randomly to see it pop up in ze bloglovin…vibing again!
Stoked to hear the D-land is in the books and even more stoked that the two foodie meccas are being visited….do me a favour and force them to come to Australia. Yep, Australia before Canada. You guys are like a skip away!
Save a seat for me at Blend.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
You know I love you, but I’m going to have to be selfish about this oneβ¦ Canada first!
