1. Ater 42 weeks (give or take), I finally got around to making a banner for my Thinking Out Loud posts…
Woop! I also made one for Sunday’s link love posts, aaaaaand tweaked the header at the top of my page (did you notice?! 😀)
2. Because you know you want to impress people with your knowledge of completely random facts…
1. If you ever find yourself regretting a poor decision, just imagine how that guy must feel…
2. And this is exactly why I don’t make my bed. Okay, it has more to do with the fact that I’m just lazy…
3. I knew I wasn’t alone in this!!
4. I’ve actually had this happen a few times, and yes… it feels amazing.
5. This is one of those examples of a situation where ignorance is bliss… Sorry to have ruined it for you.
3. You know those times where you wake up and it takes you a second to figure out where you are? Apparently phones experience the same problem…
I have my weather app set to “local,” and I guess I must have woken up in the Royal Mayfair Golf Club the other day. Either that, or my phone needs a morning shot of caffeine even more than I do.
4. Speaking of phones, guess what got moved to the black hole second page of my home screen…
Poor Candy Crush – I can’t even remember the last time I played. It was a short-lived affair that was fun while it lasted, but I’ve moved on to bigger and better things [read: puzzles… like whoa].
5. Welcome to my life…
You know how one of the things that people love most about being in a place where food is sold is the free samples? I wish I could say the same – the only things I can really try are fruits and veggies. Pesky peanuts… But at least I still have my beloved almond butter.
6. Speaking of almond butter, the picture I posted of my stash has officially become the highest liked picture in my Instagram gallery…
… with the second highest being an AB&J sandwich…
Not gonna lie – it warms my allergy-afflicted heart to see some AB love going around 🙂
7. I can’t help but feel a little nostalgic around this time of the year…
It’s been a couple of years since I’ve had to go back to school, and thus had to do any real school supply shopping, but I sure do miss it. I have no idea what’s so exciting about new notebooks, pens, and pencil cases, but it was always something I looked forward to. Never mind that I already had tonnes of perfectly good supplies laying around from previous years – I needed new ones. That is, at least until I got to university… then all my money went towards tuition and ridiculously overpriced textbooks.
8. Currently on repeat, both on my iPod and in my head…
[youtube=”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xih8l7YAT6g&w=560&h=315″]
9. I’m happy to report that after almost a week in my [brown thumb] care, my baby herbs are still alive and kickin’. Dare I say they may even be flourishing?
The only thing is… what the heck am I supposed to do with them? 😯 I have some ideas for the mint, but there’s no way I’ll be able to use that much basil… especially because I’m not the biggest fan of pesto. Yeah, I didn’t think really that one through… Anyone want some basil?
10. And to end things on a sweet and positive note…
Mmm donuts… Happy Thursday, friends!
. – . – . – .
Are you going back to school this year? What are you studying? If not, how long have you been done?
If you have Instagram, what kind of accounts do you follow? What pictures are your favourite? Food? Fitness? Fashion? Nature? All of the above? (<– me)
Nicole @ FruitnFitness
I like the new thinking out loud banner! I also loe the ab and ab sandwich Instagrams! I’m a huge fan of pesto and love how easy it is to make and freeze! My favorite way to eat pesto is with sweet potatoes!
Rachel @ Undercover Diva: A Sitcom
NOT a fan of donuts at all. I think they’re gross. I am going back to school this year for my final year of grad school! I’m getting my M.S. in Environmental Education with an emphasis in Marine Biology (my B.S. is in Marine Biology) in the spring! I follow food, fitness, friends, and nature accounts on Instagram. My food pictures get a LOT of love though!
Lauren
Good thing I don’t make my bed. Laziness pays of sometimes… 😛 I am NOT a fan of donuts (I know) but I told my mom the other day if I had to choose one it would be chocolate glazed WITH sprinkles. Must include sprinkles. It makes me extremely sad not to go back to school. Although I dreaded the school year, the first day of school was a different story. New outfit, backpack, and seeing friends for the first time since the last day of the previous year… Perfect. I definitely follow a lot of bloggers but my favorites are the pictures of people with their families or doing things you don’t expect. I’m not going to turn down any food porn either, though. 😀
[email protected]
OH! And make this http://www.skinnygirlsweeteners.com/tag/lemonade/ with your basil and mint tea with your mint leaves!
Alex @ Cookie Dough Katzen
Mmm are those your dougnuts and did you make them? So pretty! I like those facts. I always question some of them though, especially the stats-based ones. Happy Thursday!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I -wish- they were my donuts! I’m seriously considering investing in a donut pan though, because I’d really love to try making some homemade donuts.
kris
Loving the new banners girl! And LOL at #3!!
I do love a good donut every now and then! Especially chocolate munchkins from dunkin donuts. It might be because I rarely got to eat them so whenever I did it felt like a treat. I also used to buy those mini powdered donuts (the ones that come in a plastic pack of 5) at my cafeteria in middle school. Soo good, but probably so terrible for me…
Alysia @ Slim Sanity
I’m such a weirdo about organizing… all of the apps on my phone are in sorted folders. except for most of the main ones that come with the phone, plus instagram and twitter, hah!
I raaaarely ever eat donuts. Usually the only time I do is when we go back to Kyle’s parents, they’ll buy them on occasion. My favorite are the big cinnamon pecan ones with frosting. Go big or don’t eat a donut? haha
meredith
I always loved school supplies and the whole back to school section thing but now that my son is getting older (9), I am dreading school starting because it means homework enforcement and the school routine lol…I used to like a pink frosted donut from Dunkin Donuts when I was little because it was pink…my all-time favorite though is a chocolate crème-filled. I wouldn’t pass up a chocolate glazed though. I always loved the chocolate munchkins best, then the powdered so I could lick the powder and move on maybe to a crème filled. I avoided the jelly munchkins like the plague and probably still would.
Maria @ Pappa Don't Preach
Look at your fancy pants banners!!! I wish I was more talented in that arena…:(
mmm donuts!!! I used to go to Dunkin after drinking and get a strawberry frosted but always made sure they gave me a fresh one rather than the stale ones that had been sitting out. You know what would be GREAT? An almond butter and jelly donut! YES!
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
Number 2 – well, now I just feel better about my seeming inability to make my bed in the mornings. Laziness prevails :-p
And I’m kind of tempted to buy pens and pencils and the like…I mean, I’m going back to school in two weeks! Of course, everything I do is on my computer but I’ll likely just conveniently forget that fact that next time I’m in Walmart or Target…
And donuts – they’re not my favourite of pastries, but they’re pretty good. In fact, my boss brought in a box today…but there isn’t any sour cream glazed (the best donut ever. ever ever ever.) or chocolate glazed (the runner up) so I probably won’t bother. Plain chocolate and maple dip – you bore me.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I don’t think I’ve ever had a sour cream glazed! But I -do- love a good apple fritter. And what if you toss sprinkles on the chocolate/maple? Then you gotta love em, right? 😉
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
….touche. :-p
Alex@Veggin' Out
Well, I must say, I’m in the 70% that pretends like they have a life when they whip out their phones around strangers. At least I’m not alone hehe. And can I hop in my time machine and go back to 1976 and buy that stake? 58 billion sounds like a great deal 😉
And I hear you on the peanut allergy… I was allergic to peanuts (and all nuts, in fact) until a couple of years ago. I supposedly still have a slight allergy to peanuts, but my bucket loads of peanut butter since have luckily shown no signs of it.
AC
Lol how could someone dislike donuts? I haven’t had one in a while, but my favorite kind is the classic glazed. The ones coated in powdered sugar aren’t my favorite…you breathe on the donut and send the sugar all down your shirt, and I always end up coughing on the sugar since it’s quite dry…For me, it’s kind of like eating flour or cinnamon plain. But hey…I’m a weirdo
I’m sort of going back to school…taking some community college classes online part-time (just 2 or 3 a semester, starting with 2 in September). It’s been two years since I last took classes, and I’ll be starting with history and art history. I’m excited! But damn, books are so expensive!
On instagram, I love watching those super artsy photographers who take hipster pictures of their booties and skinny jeans juxtaposed against the sidewalk and stuff lol. I also like following people who post pretty baking pictures. I highly recommend hootlicious, emmatheyellow and little llama
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I checked out those IG accounts you recommended, and you’re right… gorgeous shots!
Christine@ Apple of My Eye
Love the new banner sign! SO cute! Which program do you use to create it? I’m thinking picmonkey, but don’t recognize the font!
Also, I have a condom in my hair at the moment ;). OH JOY!! Hahah you crack me up!
Love the sweet end note. Doughnuts have a soft spot in my heart and that adorable mug… I die 😀
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I actually broke down and bought Adobe Photoshop a little while ago. I used to toy around with graphic design waaaaay back in the day, so I’m kind of hoping to get into it a little more. If only the learning process wasn’t such a pain 😉 And the fonts were downloaded from dafont.com… it’s a great site for free fonts!
Amy@Long Drive Journey
My entire family LOVES candy crush, but I never got into it!
I, on the other hand, love donuts. Especially donut holes. Yum!
Katie @ Daily Cup of Kate
That song is so great! I also pretend to text/talk on my phone when I am in awkward situations and I am glad 70% of others do too so I dont feel like an idiot. I absolutely love donuts, but cant remember the last time I actually ate one? I guess I just am not around them ever! P.S. Cute banner and header!
Cori @ olivetorun
I don’t even like donuts but I want that mug. For Instagram or social media accounts I like to follow individuals who are inspirational, and are REAL life health and fitness examples… people who mix it up with quotes, pictures of their day to day, and also their healthy/fitness related habits.
Sarah @ Making Thyme for Health
1. The new banner is so creative, love it!
2. Ronald Wayne must feel like a huge jackass.
3. Not surprised that you almond butter sandwich is your most liked pic; you always make them look drool worthy.
4. Those donuts need to be in my face right now. I love donuts and the cute pink frosting is calling my name!
Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves
Poor Ronald Wayne…
I haven’t had donuts in a while, but I’m still a fan! I love apple fritters. So bad, but oh so good 😉
My friends and I would OBSESS over getting new school supplies. I’m a senior in high school so I still need supplies, but I have just lost my excitement over it. Perhaps it’s because I know my mom wouldn’t let me overlook the tons of supplies we already have just to get that cute planner from Target. *sigh*
On instagram–I probably like food pictures the most. But all of the above too!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Apple fritters are amazing. There are some pretty good healthified recipes you can find on the net if you want to try to make your own! I’ve actually been thinking about getting a donut pan so I can try my hand at homemade baked donuts.
Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves
Yes I love browsing the web for healthified treats! I have a little cake pop pan that I haven’t used all that much, so maybe I’ll make some donut holes 🙂
Kim@hungryhealthygirl
I’m a huge donut fan, but pretty much never give onto that indulgence. I need to try to come up with a good baked donut recipe! Love your new header tweaks!
Carly @ Snack Therapy
Fancy new header and banners! I love them. They’re so purdyyyy. I love donuts, especially cream-filled maple bars. As a kid, whenever my family would get donuts, my mom would get the maple bar and I’d always steal a bite. Geez, I’m feeling nostalgic just thinking about it!
Yes, I am going back to school this year… for the last time ever! (Well, technically I go “Back to School” each quarter, but still).
Olivia @ Liv Lives Life
Oh my gosh. I would be kicking myself (literally and mentally) every day if I was that Ronald Wayne guy. $58 billion…wow.
Amen to your number five. I didn’t realize your nut allergies were so bad that you had to regard those warnings, but still, I can relate. I almost never enjoy samples!
I love perusing the back-to-school section of stores. Often I’ll come out of there with notebooks and pens and highlighters that I don’t need, but I just love them! There is definitely a nostalgic element to it, though – you’re so right about that.
Your herbs look great! I’ll take some basil from you. 🙂 It’s my favorite!
I haven’t had a doughnut in ages (again, those darn allergies), but my favorite used to be cinnamon sugar. Yummmm.
Ashley @ Life and Fitness
Whenever I’m waiting for friends to arrive if I’m out to eat or something, ill pretend to text. But really all I am doing is deleting old pictures lol. Glad to see I’m not the only one who does it 🙂
Alexandra
You can use basil on pizza, in pizza/pasta sauce, in chicken and stuff but if you find yourself with more basil then you’ll ever need you can take the leaves, freeze them into ice cubes and it’ll stay fresh forever that way. Then (if you’re like me) once you’ve killed your basil plant you can just pop out an ice cube or two, let it melt and presto, fresh basil!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
That’s a really great idea. I’m -hoping- that I don’t kill my plant (mostly because I want to prove to myself that I’m not completely hopeless when it comes to taking care of plants), but there’s nothing wrong with taking precautionary measures.
Christina
I’m not a texter but I am a faux email-checker in awkward/lonely situations! Or I just scroll through Twitter…
Caitlin
Omg i keep telling joe he needs to take me back to school shopping 😛 it was always one of my favorite things to do each year…new clothes and shoes and books and notebooks and pens and markers and a backpack? Sign me up! He just shakes his head when i say this. I have no idea why 😉 everyone has posted donuts this week! I’m not normally a donut fan haha but don’t you know I’m now craving a chocolate cake donut with a vanilla glaze. I see that happening in my near future 😉 and that hair tie thing is wickedly disturbing…i’m officially checking where my hair bands came from tonight!
Tiff @ Love, Sweat, and Beers
I’ve never seen prettier donuts in my life. No joke. My fav are blueberry cake glazed. I can NEVER turn those down, but others are not too hard for me to walk by in the conference room… usually.
Also – I too get nostalgic this time of year. I mean, I hated going back to school after summer break, so I’m not sure why I get those warm n’ fuzzy feelings. Either way, I get ’em.
Kelsey @ Ramblings of Change
I’m going back for my last semester for a degree in Psychology, which is just a stepping stone of what I want to do down the line. I’d love to be a health/wellness coach/counselor! I still love to buy new school supplies! I already picked up a new binder for all my notes and some Sharpie liquid pencils!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
You sound so much like me! I got my degree in psych, worked in the field for a little while, and then decided I wanted to pursue being a health/wellness coach. So that’s what I’m studying right now, and I’m seriously loving it 🙂
Kelsey @ Ramblings of Change
That’s where I see myself going! How amazing and crazy is that! I’m excited to be done with my undergrad after this fall semester and then I’m going to take time to figure out my next plan of action!
Courtney
Candy Crush is the devil! LOL. I can’t beat level 327 so I quit playing it like a week ago.
Don’t even get me started on donuts! We have this place. That’s famous in RI called Allie’s Donuts. We love them so much we had donut cakes at our wedding instead of a regular cake!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
327?! Holy smokes, lady! I got to 93 before I quit 😛 And donut cakes?! Okay that sounds amazing… I’ll have to keep that in mind 😉
Beth @ Mangoes and Miles
Going along the 10% guy at Apple–there’s a quote somewhere that’s like, “When you’re having a bad day, just remember how the 12 publishers who turned Harry Potter down must feel.” 🙂 I’ll gladly take the basil off of your hands–I could eat pesto like I eat almond butter.
Ksenija @ Health Ninja
Mmmmh, the pink donut stash looks amazing – if I could choose I would go for a croissant or muffin before grabbing a donut, but from time to time I just need to get my favorite MC (the devil) Café cranberry filled donut fix – it’s divine. I would also love to take all of your basil and make some pesto, but you could also use it on pizza’s, in tomato based pasta sauces or cook some thai basil chicken *yum*!
Liz @ The Girl on Fire Now
I’m going into high school! I am so excited I can’t even describe it 🙂 My pencil case, notebooks, and dividers are already ready – I just need to finish the packet for my summer reading book (I love the book, despise the packet)
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Ooooo! High school was -such- an exciting time! You’re going to love it!
Pickyrunner
Mmmmmmm donuts! I can’t remember the last time I had one. I find it hilarious to see which pictures get the most likes on Instagram. The ones I think are absolutely awesome that I post usually get less likes than the food. I guess bloggers really like their blog trend foods? And candy crush. I started playing again this week after breaking up with it a month ago. I kind of missed it… But I also got tired of it. Sad day.
Amy @ The Little Honey Bee
I am actually surprised that the texting stat isn’t MORE than 70%… seriously I feel like everyone does this! I am not a huge donut fan but I love anything with cinnamon. How I wish I was going back to school… it feels so weird and I think I might just have to go to Staples for “work supply shopping”… that was the best part about school! hah
Khushboo
If Instagram is anything to go by, people just seem to love food…it’s always my foodie pics which tend to rack up the most likes. On the topic of food, I’m not the biggest donut fun despite how pretty they photograph. I must’ve overdone them as a kid because I used to have a glazed donut at least thrice a week since my school sold them.
I’m with you about stationary shopping- it’s the one thing I miss most about being in school. Between trapper keepers, notebooks, pens, gel pens, Jansport backpacks…it’s endless but SO much fun! I might have to go stationary shopping for my desk at home :)!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I’ve definitely noticed that my foodie picks rack up the most likes as well, which makes me sad because there are things other than food that I want to share! And I definitely used IIN as a reason to do a -little- but of stationary shopping. It was just a few pens, a binder, and paper, but it still felt pretty wonderful 🙂 Oh, and don’t worry about responding to my e-mail! I was just afraid that it got lost on the way, so I’m happy to hear that it wasn’t.
Ashley @ Eat Run Live Happy
Ewww and when I have a hair band around my wrist and my hands are holding up my pony tale I use my teeth to get the band off my wrist and around my hair. ew ew ew! Never again!
and of course I love donuts. My grandpa owned a bakery so I grew up in one! I remember I worked over night with him making all of them one night and by the time the store opened at 4am I was sleepy and my stomach hurt from eating so many through out the night!
Lucie
I am NOT going to buy a hairband in America. Thanks for the info 🙂 And I am SO number 3! Haha 🙂
Oh my Gosh, the Golf Club on your phone thing cracks me up. My phone has the same. I seem to wake up in Germany everyday. HELLO? 🙂
Ok, as for your leavies, just a few ideas: MINT: in water (warm or cold), in Quinoa salad, tea, on a vegetable quiche…. BASIL: In salads, in wraps, on your pizza, in an omelett…..
No donuts. But muffins, scones, bagels, breads…..yes.
Jo @ Living Mint Green
Ah haha, my phone has been confused lately too. It keeps saying I’m at this ghetto shopping mall that I haven’t set foot in oh, 10 years?
I still get that back to school feeling- September always feels like a fresh start, hey?
I’m more of a cupcake gal, but I’m IN LOVE with these potato-flour based glazed donuts/donut holes from a local bake shop. Oh! And I love those jelly filled donuts with the white powdery cocaine dust on top. AHHH
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I haven’t been able to eat one of those cocaine powder donuts ever since I accidentally breathed in while I was mid-bite and almost choked to death. But I do suddenly have this serious craving for donut holes…
Charlotte @ Commitness to Fitness
mmm donuts 🙂 happy thursday indeed 🙂 my fav are the chocolate glazed too. theres this place in boston though that gets crazy with flavors- bacon, lavender, hibiscus- its awesome and yet i still prefer a good ol’ chocolate glazed. also i always pretend to text to avoid awkward situations. always. and i love your new banner! nice work!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I’ve never had the pleasure of trying any crazy donuts – Tim Horton’s keeps things pretty simple 😉 Now I just have one more reason to make my way over to Boston one day.
Elizabeth @ myneonrunningshoes
Please share your donuts with me.
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat
Love your thinking out loud banner! I went back to school a few years ago to get my paralegal certification and I just graduated this past May. I was super excited to me done. Work full-time and going to school part-time is definitely not easy, but it was totally worth it.
Linz @ Itz Linz
haha i hate making my bed too! now i have a legit reason….. lol
