1. Let’s kick off this week’s randomness with some random facts, shall we?
1. But the real question is… why would you want to hunt unicorns?!
2. … Gross. I will no longer be shaking anyone’s hand.
3. Mind = boggled.
4. You better believe I’m trying this the next time I pop open a bottle of champagne.
5. Think about that the next time you’re temped to buy a quick snack…
2. And here’s a random fact about me… As much as I love the smell that scented candles give the air in my home, I have to admit that my favourite part is blowing them out and getting a whiff of the smoke. I’m also partial to the smell of gasoline and paint. And no, I don’t use them for cheap highs.
3. Also… I can’t sleep with my closet door open at night. Laugh all you like, but I saw Monsters Inc… I know what goes down when the lights go out. And you know that creepy feeling that you get when you’re walking up stairs from the basement and feel like something is going to grab you and drag you back? Yeah… totally get that one too.
4. Fact: fresh flowers make everything better (even if nothing was wrong to begin with). I make it a point to always try and have fresh flowers in my home because not only do they smell and look good, but they add such a positive energy to any room.
5. I really need to stop making a habit out of eavesdropping on other people’s conversations… but I can’t help it – sometimes there’s good wisdom to be learned! The other day I heard a guy standing in line behind me say: “if every day is the same as the day before, then life is passing you by.” Deep, random stranger. Real deep.
6. I apologize if you’ve left a comment in the last little while that hasn’t shown up on the site. I used to sift through my spam comments on a pretty regular basis to make sure that no real bodies accidentally found themselves stuck in there, but I’ve basically given up on it because the sheer volume of spam has been getting a little out of hand lately. It might not be too bad if I could read Chinese (apologies if this isn’t actually Chinese), but I can’t, and it gets a little tedious to filter through when ¾ of your spam looks like this…
Err. Kate Spade? What?
7. I need an intervention. I’ve been listening to this song nonstop for about a week now and I’m worried that I’m going to get sick of it. Help.me.please.

8. Coffee makes for a fantastic study aid… until you spill it on your notes.
At least it made them smell good…
9. Quick beauty tip for you guys. Take a small spray bottle (3 oz or so), fill it with water, add ~6 drops of tea tree oil, and shake it up. Then you can spray it on your face throughout the day, spot clean your makeup brushes, or even spray it on your pillow case before you go to sleep. The tea tree oil will help fight bacteria that can cause acne, and it’s just a great way to refresh your skin.
10. Happy Thursday! Make sure to smile today because… well… why not? 😀

I love that picture of the candle with the smoke! You have such great photography skills!
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
I’m completely skeeved out by the bathroom fact. So gross.
I cannot sleep with the closet door open either. The only difference is I’m thinking of Poltergeist instead of Monsters Inc, although I did love that movie.
I’m a huge fresh flower junkie. Thankfully, we have all kinds growing in our yard, so in the summertime I’m able to just cut some from the yard and save a few bucks. Last week, I cut and brought in some lavender; looks pretty and smells good.
Nicole @ FruitnFitness
I love the smell of tea tree oil, I will have to try spraying my pillow at night. Overhearing strangers…. I hear things on a daily basis that I never ever would have wanted to.
Arman @ thebigmansworld
Some of those facts…… :s
Our notebooks look the same, the number of text books I’ve been unable to resell purely due to coffee stains is ridiculous. But coffee is a given with any study in my eyes 😉 I strangely really enjoy the smell of burnt food. The taste of it on the other hand, not so much!
Ari @ The Pace of it All
Ewww with the handwashing. Come on now people!! I could read useless facts all day lol.
Ditto on the closet by the way. But that could be partially because my cat would go in there and have a party. But also the whole something could be lurking in there. Ha!
Nice tip about the tea tree oil… I need some. I have a pimple that refuses to leave. 3 weeks it’s been hanging out. Uncool.

Japanese spam? Nice. You mentioned your obsession with bags and you got some bag spam. If you need nice cheap outlet bags, that’s where you can find some. Probably in Japanese… 😀 You can always distinguish Japanese from Chinese by the randomly appearing groups of simpler symbols in the text. Chinese is kanji only. Japanese has 2 alphabets too to make it more… fun (not).
I like the smell of cement…
As for flowers, isn’t easier to just buy some plants that bloom all year long? Like saintpaulia (african violet), for example. If you find the right conditions for it, it blooms literally nonstop. I don’t like bouquets because they die too quickly 🙁
Chelsea @ Chelsea's Healthy Kitchen
Oh gosh, coffee and studying/school seriously don’t mix. Once I spilled my entire cup of Starbucks on my entire binder of physics notes in the middle of class – it was super awkward and super messy! Luckily my notes eventually dried, but they were a pain to study from because they were so stained haha.
Also I love eavesdropping and fully admit to doing it all the time. Sometimes I’ll pretend to be listening to my music at the gym, but really I’ll be listening to people at the gym talking about their latest diet and thoughts on the latest Dr. Oz episode (meanwhile I’m trying not to laugh my butt off). <– I swear I'm not a complete creep!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Oh man… I’d be so tempted to rewrite all my notes if that happened… but that’s just crazy talk 😯
Brittany @ Delights and Delectables
I love the smell of gasoline! I have been getting those chinese or whatever comments too! Crazy!
Sarah @ Feeeding the Brain and Body
I am totally the same way when it comes to blowing out candles, I love that smoke smell! I the smell of gasoline brings me right back to the good old days of going on my grandpa’s motor boat! I totally feel you with the spam, I keep getting the same thing. I think mine is Korean though because one time my browser asked if I wanted it translated!
Eating 4 Balance
That bathroom fact just cannot be true… I hope that includes impoverished countries where they don’t have restrooms and sinks. If not- uck.
HAHAHA. You don’t know how long I was trying to read that sentence backwards and just couldn’t get what it was trying to say. It turns out you leave the words the same and just reverse their order. I thought you literally had to reverse the letters too, like with Hannah or racecar. Lol.
I sleep with my closet door closed too.
Angela
I LOVE the new True North blend at Starbucks! Reminds me of Tim Hortons.
Liz @ The Girl on Fire Now
I love the smell of gasoline and candles too! And no, I don’t get high either
You have really great handwriting! (Random, but I just noticed it on your notes)
Jessica @ Prayers and Apples
LOL i actually knew that about the raisins! bc raisins are my favorite food (i know – wierd!) and i’ve dropped them in champagne before (accidentally… and looong story lol)
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
!! And it actually works?!
De @ Cooking for the Other Half
I am the same way with my bathroom door that connects to my bedroom — it has to be shut! It creeps me out to have the door ajar.
Your spam is pretty awesome.
Also I love your handwriting!
Maria @ Pappa Don't Preach
I’m the same way about closets at night. Must. be. shut. I also can’t go to bed with dirty dishes in the sink. They will get washed no matter how tired I am.
My spam has been looking the same!! Ugh. So obnoxious. Select all, delete. I try to pay attention but I may have missed some myself. 🙁
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Dishes in the sink is a big one for me too! Sometimes I’ll leave ’em if I’m to tired, but during the day? I hate having any in there.
Elizabeth@myneonrunningshoes
Thanks for the beauty tip… I need all of those I can get 😉
Natalie @ Lift,Sleep, Eat
I LOVE the smell of blowing candles out as well! I also love the smell of sun tan lotion; it just reminds me of being on holiday & the slightly less normal smell of things burning…
lindsay
i’ll burn out candles with you anyday.
p.s.
that was my japanese writing comment.
😉
Laura Agar Wilson (@lauraagarwilson)
So weird that you mentioned that about candles, I had exactly the same thought today when I blew mine out!
