1. Since I’ve been all about the honesty lately, there’s something I’d really like to get off my chest. Ahem. I’ve been drinking instant coffee lately…
Why am I ashamed to admit it? Because of how prissy I can be when it come to how I like my coffee when I’m out. That and instant coffee just feels like it belongs on the lowest rung of the coffee ladder… it’s like wine from a box. But I can’t help it! My Keurig is broken so I initially turned to instant coffee because I was too impatient to wait for my French press to brew, but now? I kind of like it… I am properly ashamed 😳
2. I also really like taking a tumbler full of coffee with me when I go on my morning walks…
I don’t know what it is, but there’s something about having coffee (or really, anything to hold and eat/drink) that makes my walks so much more enjoyable. Now all I need is a cuter tumbler…
3. But at least I have the most adorable napkins!
I saw these at the store the other day and had to pick them up – I’ve been referring to coffee as the nectar of the gods for years now, so these were basically made for me. That and the only other napkins I had were Christmas themed ones, which made having people over at any other time of the year a little awkward.
4. Can we just talk about my nails for a second? I am in love with this color…
Essie’s Full Steam Ahead
… and can you believe that those babies are a full 3 days old? I know I’ve basically done nothing but complain about Essie polishes and their tendency to chip faster than anything, but they must be improving their formula or something because I’m really impressed with my newest ones.
5. I’m currently sitting in Starbucks while I write this… The girl sitting at the table on my right side is left-handed and it’s making me jealous (although her biology homework is not). I always wanted to be left-handed… For whatever reason, lefties always seemed way cooler to me. As it stands, I’m a boring rightie.
6. The guy sitting at the table on my left side is seriously consumed by an epic game of Tetris. We’re talking sweat-on-the-brow, mad concentration here. I love Tetris. And Snake. And Pacman. And Pong. Oh, how I miss those good old 8-bit 80’s arcade games.
7. At least I have Candy Crush!
Although, to be honest, I’m really starting to consider that a not-so-good thing. The number of hours that I’ve devoted to this game is getting a little ridiculous… And I’m pretty sure that I’m going to end up breaking my phone if I keep tossing it around as a result of my frustration. I’m currently on level 62, and it’s gotten to the point where I’m constantly going back to play earlier levels to make myself feel better. And don’t even get me started on the chocolate… my view of the delicious treat is forever tainted.
8. I don’t know what it is, but I’ve been crazy thirsty lately – sometimes it’s not even noon yet and I’ve already made it through most of the minimum daily water requirements. It hasn’t even been that hot so… I really have no idea what’s up. Hopefully it settles down, though – making a trip to the bathroom every 30 minutes is getting to be a bit of a pain.
9. I haven’t come across any new songs that have wowed me lately, so let’s see what iPod shuffle brings up…
[youtube=”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SHNE8vaLEY&w=560&h=315″]
10. And last but not least, guess where I’ll be headed in September?!? Healthy Living Summit!!!
I’ve been wanting to attend a blogger meet-up for a few years now, but I always chickened out at the last minute… only to completely regret it afterwards. Not this time – this time I’ll be there. To be honest, I’m mostly interested in finally being able to meet some of the amazing ladies that I’ve gotten so close to over the years, but picking up a few blogging tips and tricks wouldn’t hurt either, I suppose.
Have an awesome Thursday, you guys! 😀
. – . – . – .
Are you right-handed, left-handed, or ambidextrous?
Who else is going to HLS?
Nausheen @ 15 & Eating clean
I love my Keurig! I don’t know how I ever enjoyed coffee before I got it 🙂 I’ve had too many failed attempts with instant coffee (cough, cough Starbucks Via packs) to ever consider it again
Kay
haha I started using instant too! I got rid of my tiny coffee maker and was like ‘making coffee on the stove makes so much more sense” until I didn’t feel like it and then instant coffee makes SO much sense. I haven’t told anyone. 😉
Eating 4 Balance
Someday I’d love to go HLS. It seems like such a fun event!
I’m a righty despite trying to force myself to learn writing left-handed… that epically failed 😛
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
😆 I remember trying to do that as well. But yeah… epic failure.
Liz @ The Girl on Fire Now
I brew using a Keurig filter that lets me put in real coffee
I’m right handed, but my twin is ambidexterous (but uses her left hand a lot more than her right)
I’m not going to HLS, but I wish I was!
Hollie
I don’t mind instant coffee at all. I used to not be a fan until I just realized I didn’t add as much creamer…I am pretty unbiased as far as coffee goes. (No judgement here!).
I wanted to go to Healthy Living Summit (actually I say that every year really) but can never commit due to traveling and other plans and by the time I could it’s far too late. I wouldn’t even know until mid August! But have fun. 🙂
Susan
They have gotten wayyyy better with instant coffee. As long as it doesn’t come in one of those plastic tubes, like at the airport, I’m good with instant!
Thirst may be related to the coffee? I always feel thirsty when I drink it. Dehydrate/rehydrate. I’ve heard you need a cup of water for a cup of coffee, but for me it’s like a 1:2 ratio.
Congrats on making the decision to go to the summit! I bet you will have a lot of fun : )
Lucie@FitSwissChick
So jealous on HLS!! Would love to be there too!!
And yi have that Essie color too, it’s so pretty!! I absolutely love Essie since it is the only polish that stays for almost 4 days on my nails. Amazing.
I am a boring rightie, like you. Sisters.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
It would have been -amazing- if you could be there! Hopefully some day <3
AC
I actually don’t drink coffee at home any more (I start my day with tea instead) but I used to do French press. I’m a righty as well but have always wanted to be ambidextrous! And I’ve never been to a blogging conference and frankly (no offense to anyone out there), I’ve never really wanted to go to one. They’re expensive and I feel like I’d rather use that money on a “real” vacation…but I’m sure you’ll have an amazing time. I’d check one out if it was where I already lived for sure!
Nicole @ FruitnFitness
My mom drinks instant coffee all the time, sometimes ill take it to work with me. It’s sometimes a nice hot beverage choice. I really like using instant coffee in baking.
Jen @ SavedbytheKale
I use a Keurig and also use a coffee pot sometimes. I just bought some Trader Joes coffee and I am excited to try it out! I’ve never had instant coffee but have always wondered what it tastes like. 🙂 Essie polish chips faster with me too. OPI seems to last longer. Oh also wanted to tell you that you’ve got me hooked on Gossip Girl. I just finished Season 1 in record time and just started season 2! 🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Eeeee! I miss that show! You’re seriously going to love it… It gets a little strange near the middle, but then picks up again in the last couple of seasons.
Lauren
Lucky girl for going to the HLS! Awesome! I’m glad you decided to go this year! I’m sure you’ll have a blast!
I’m definitely a Keurig drinker now-a-days along with Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks. I used to drink the instant VIA Starbucks and I loved them! Instant coffee is convenient and you can make it as strong as you want… in an instant 😉 Plus, I suck at making drip coffee.
I’m a boring righty with brown eyes and brown hair. Totally ordinary. Woof.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
So I’m a righty with brown hair and brown eyes too… you saying I’m boring? 😛 And I seriously loved the VIAs… but after I finished up my box, I figured I should get rid of some of the other coffee cluttering up my cupboards. I’ll be going back when I’m through with this jar though.
Catherine
I’ve always wanted to be a leftie, too! I think it’s b/c so many creative ppl (actors, artists) are left-handed, but I’ve always been jealous.
That Essie color is so pretty! I always get chips on the 2nd day, though; maybe they have improved their formula.
One day, I’d love to do a blogger meet up, but I feel like I’m still too much of a newbie/amateur just yet. Hope you have a blast when you go to HLS!
Katie @ running4cupcakes
Yeah so excited you are going to HLS becasuse 1. I’ll be there 2. I’m presenting on a blogger panel 3. I am from St. Paul and love the area 4. You will have so much fun!!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I seriously can’t wait! Hopefully I’ll see you there!
Elizabeth@myneonrunningshoes
Ahh!!! You’re going to HLS?? I’ll see you there 🙂 I’m so excited!!!!! P.S. I love that nail color!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Woo! Totally looking forward to meeting you 😀
Katie @ running4cupcakes
For sure! You can plan on it. 🙂
Elizabeth@myneonrunningshoes
I’m actually giving a presentation… and I’m super nervous. Feel free to provide moral support!
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
So clearly, I’m going to ignore the coffee question. :-p
I can’t remember if I’ve ever told you this, but I’m left-handed. In fact, both my parents (although my mom writes with her right hand after being forced to as a child…she holds a pen so weirdly now) and my brother and I are. An entire family of southpaws! I pretty much reveled in that when I was kid as one of those ‘look-at-how-special-I-am!” things….I mean, I always got the special scissors with the green handle, so clearly I knew I was important 😉
And HLS yaaaaaaaaaaay! I’m excited. And I’m going to be reminding you of this excitement for the next three months soooooooo be prepared for that. <3
Casey @ Salted Plates
See you at HLS 13!
Jess
Even if I was a mainstream blogger, I don’t think I’d go to the HLS…simply because I know I wouldn’t be able to bite my tongue and would most likely yell a few home truths at certain people. Also, from recaps from last year no-one seemed to enjoy it that much when it came down to it – a lot of bloggers seemed upset, triggered and generally set back in their opinion of themselves. I’m sure you’ll be fine and will indeed have a great time, but I’d prepare in advance for there to be some very sick looking people there, despite the ‘healthy’ image they portray of themselves on their blogs.
I’d go to a UK blogger equivalent if there ever was one because the majority seem to take blogging less seriously and be less…intense, than some US bloggers. There isn’t this militant ‘you must love yourself’ movement for one thing 😛
I’m right handed but my left side is much stronger – I can lift more with my left side and I do everything else except write as a leftie (tennis for example).
Well, I drink instant coffee and like it, but that’s because my Dad buys a fancy Italian Blend so it’s not quite ‘instant’ instant coffee…Starbucks and the like actually kill my stomach so I’m fine with being a coffee philistine!
xxx
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Thanks for the heads up, Jess. That’s something I noticed from reading past recaps as well, and while it probably would have affected me negatively a few years ago, I think I’m finally in a good enough place for it not to make much of a difference. I just hope no one asks me to go running 😆
Ari @ The Pace of it All
My dad is a lefty… but he was a lefty back in the day when you weren’t allowed to be a lefty, he had the whole “hand put in a bag, you MUST write with your right hand” situation, which sucks.
Love that Essie shade, it’s so pretty. I haven’t painted my nails in ages because I got tired of them always chipping within one day. I like your napkins, they’re super pretty. And neat that you’re going to HLS!
Tamara
I’m a lefty!! I’ll admit that I love being one. 🙂
I only recently started drinking coffee again (mostly decaf Americanos) because I gave up all caffeine, including decaf with its trace amounts, a few years ago (for migraine frequency/severity reduction). But I missed it – more than chocolate! – so I started buying decaf again at the cafes. I may have to pick up some ground decaf coffee and bust out our french press… but maybe instant is the way to go?
I happen to think that tumbler is pretty cute. As are those napkins and that nail polish!!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I gave up coffee for a little over half a year, and I have to agree that it’s a lot worse than going without chocolate. I’ve started drinking some decaf as well, since I mostly do it for the taste, and I’ve found some pretty decent instant ones. At the end of the day, though, I love this stuff so much that there really isn’t any kind that I wouldn’t drink…
Tamara
I’ll probably check out some instant decaf, for those quick fixes… thanks! I didn’t think I was even that much a coffee person, but I really craved it after two years without!
Khushboo
LOVE that Essie shade- it automatically puts a smile on my face..so pretty! So I guess I have a confession to make too: as much as I love my coffee, instant coffee is my favorite…specifically Davidoff. I really recommend it so look out for it next time you’re in the supermarket! HLS will be such a blast- I would love to attend it one year but unfortunately it’s not on the cards for 2013. You better believe I will be relying on you (and Chelsea & Sam) for recaps!
Kat
Seriously I feel you on the potty trips. Every freakin 10 minutes it feels like over here!! And yet Im still soooo thirsty at the end of the day! Ive figured out that Im only drinking the minimum amount by the end of the day, so I guess I really need to up the h20 intake. I just pee so much already!!
That nail color is BEYOND fabulous. Like holy gorgeousness.
And you should get one of those picture tumblers!! And then we should have a meetup and take lots of pictures, and you can put my smiling face all over your tumbler, then its like your walking AND drinking coffee with me everyday! bahahahaha.
Rebecca
I wish I was going to the HLS – looks like a great conference. But hubby would never let me go and spend that kind of $$ on a blogging conference
I don’t like most instant coffees – I think I only liked the heavily sweetened ones
meredith
I am considering attending the Healthy Living Summit! Should I tell you that I am also left handed – as well as slightly ambidextrous. I play sports as a righty and can write pretty well with my right hand – better than most people who are actual righties lol….As for coffee, lately I have been using that personalized Kcup thingy where I can use the coffee grounds of choice rather than pay for the individual Kcups.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I’m going to not-so-subtly suggest that you go so that I can meet you 😉 And I used to use that personal Kcup thing as well, before my Keurig stopped working 🙁
Sarah @ A Refining Adventure
I’m the oldest of 5, and ALL of my brothers and sisters and my mom are all left-handed. Dad and I have to stick together. I really stinks, I always get elbowed at the dinner table. 😉
I LOVE Essie nail polish – best colors ever! Do you do anything special to get your polish to stay? I usually skip painting my nails at home because after I carefully paint each nail, they always ends up getting messed up or chipped in a matter of hours.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Sometimes I apply a base coat, but I’ll usually just apply a couple coats of polish and follow it up with a fast-drying top coat. I really like the one from Seche Vite or Sally Hansen.
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl
I am going to HLS, too!! It will be my first blogging conference and I am SUPER excited!! Maybe I can convince you to bring me some ketchup Pop Chips?? 😉
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Ohh yay! It’ll be nice to meet you 😀 And you may just be able to convince me 😉
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl
:)!!!
Caitlyn @ City and the Cubicle
haha i always secretly wanted to be left-handed too, just like my mom and sister are. jealous you get to go to HLS! love your napkins and polish color.
Sarah @pickyrunner
Jut wait until you hit 63. It will ruin your soul. I swear it’s not possible. Essie polish always chips instantly for me but they really do have the best colors. That one is no exception. Love it! I need to painting nails again soon…
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Just hit 63 actually, and yes… it’s ruining my soul 😡
Beth @ Mangoes and Miles
I’m left-handed…it’s not that cool. 😛 I had a friend in high school (we’re still kinda friends, we just don’t talk, like, ever) who was obsessed with lefties. It’s fine day-to-day, but it’s the little things that trip you up…like when you train your dog to walk on the opposite side that the rest of the family attempts to train her to walk on and then she gets confused and you end up tripping over her every 3 seconds when you’re walking her.
Aimée @Cinnamon Castle
I wish we had cool blogger meet ups in Australia! Jealous…
I’m ampidextrous! Little fun fact there! I write with my right hand, but do everything else with a mix of right and left.
I really want to buy an Essie nail polish, but they range from $20-$30 here, and that’s kind of excessive.
I’m so sensitive to caffiene that I can’t even drink decaf coffee anymore. Sad time ):
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
$20 for polish is pretty steep 😕 And do your caffeine sensitivities mean you can’t enjoy chocolate either?
Aimée @Cinnamon Castle
I can still have it, but one piece at a time ):
Tiff @ Love Sweat and Beers
Have fun at HLS! Where is it? I’ve never been to a blogging conference.
As for instant coffee, it’s not too bad if you whip it up with cold milk and little sweetener, but I rarely seem to get the portions right.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
It’ll be in Twin Cities, MN this year. I would say that you should totally go because it would be amazing to meet you, but I know that might be a little difficult with your little one on the way.
Ashley @ Eat Run Live Happy
awe! Have fun at the HLS! I wish I could go! It looks like so much fun!!!
Next year, next year.
I’m a righty but people always tell me I look like a lefty. Whatever that means???
My dad does everything (Throw a ball, hammer, ect) with his left hand but writes with his right hand. He blames it on his mother and his teachers for ‘not wanting him to be left handed”
Alyssa @ Road to RD
I’ve been super thirsty lately too! I can’t seem to go anywhere without a water bottle, because I’ll get dehydrated if I’m not drinking every 10 seconds. Weird!
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat
Awesome nail color…it’s a bit more understated than the one I’m currently wearing, but I’m loving it!
I’m not really a coffee drinker! I have it on occasion, but it’s pretty rare. I prefer tea. Oh yes…I’m right handed.
Katie @ KatieEnPursuit
Nooooo, you went instant!?!? I don’t know if I can be a loyal fan anymore 😉 Kidding! I’ve got a total aversion to instant after living in China for a year & only being able to drink instant, it obviously scarred me! And I’m a lefty, we can trade for a few days if you’re interested. Have a fab day lady!
Lisa
Pretty purple color!! I have a color pretty similar. And I heart it.
I can’t wait to go to HLS!!!! It will be way too much fun! We definitely will have a great time. I agree with Chelsea above. Let’s organize a Dinner. And can’t wait to chat more.
I’m left handed 🙂
And I try and brew my coffee at home, but Starbucks is just so much better haha. I do have their Starbucks coffee maker thing-y but hardly use it. Which I probably should oops.
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
I am absolutely down for this plan!
Chelsea @ Chelsea's Healthy Kitchen
I once had a really bad experience with instant coffee years ago (I can’t remember what brand it was, but it was awful!!), and I haven’t had it since haha. I make my coffee drip style.
Ahhh HLS! I’m so flipping excited to meet you finally!!! You, me, Sam and whoever else is going should organize a dinner outing on Saturday! 😀
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Hard to believe that it’s -finally- going to happen after all these years, eh? But yeah, the dinner thing has to happen. Actually, going to send you a quick e-mail in a sec…
Charlotte @ Commitness to Fitness
I’ve been noticing that essie isn’t chipping also! I didn’t know if it was just that I wasnt using my hands as much (if thats possible) or what but yeah my mani’s are lasting a good long while. they must have changed the formula. I’m loving it. and i love that color. i noticed in the picture with the coffee and was going to ask you what it was, so I was psyched when i scrolled down to #4 🙂 and 3 words: ugh the chocolate…
Christina
I drink instant, too! I don’t have time during the week to get my coffee machine out, and always run out and never replace fresh coffee anyway. At work we have cafetieres but sometimes I need my coffee NOW! Not in 5 minutes when it’s finally finished brewing or whatever it does. Yeah, I’m impatient…
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Hehe! Another big thing for me is that I don’t like to deal with the coffee grinds. I’m not supposed to pour them down the sink, and fishing them out of the bottom of the French press is just a hassle.
Jemma @ Celery and Cupcakes
I love that nail colour! Pretty pastels are my fave right now.
Jessie
My twin brother is a lefty and I’ve always envied him.. oh and so is Joshua! You & I may not be lefties, but at least were hottttt!! 🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
😆 😆 Love you, girl!
