1. My phone somehow fell out of my coat pocket when I was getting out of my car the other day, and I’m pretty sure I had a full blown panic attack when I got home and couldn’t find it. After scouring my car multiple times, making several rounds of all the rooms in my house, and dumping the entire contents of my purse onto the living room floor (finding a rogue Hershey’s Kiss in the process… win!), I was literally on the verge of tears when one final car search revealed it wedged in that annoying ½ inch gap between the car seat and the door. I may or may not have cried in relief.
2. I really don’t like packing my meals. Between work and volunteering, Wednesdays usually keep me out of the house for close to 12 hours, which means I have to take a whole days worth of eats along with me when I leave in the morning. This sucks for a couple of reasons. First, I’ve become quite bad at meal planning (which is ironic since I spent so many years doing it), and I always worry that I’m not going to bring enough… or that I’ll get a craving for something that I won’t have on hand. Second, I don’t have a cute lunchbox to carry it all around in… I think it might be time to invest in one.
3. I’m also thinking about getting a pair of these…
No. No I’m not. That is a complete lie. Yesterday I actually saw a real life, in the flesh, living, breathing human being wearing those pants. I came across them on the internet a few times, but never thought that I’d see them in person. There really are no words, just one simple question – why? 😯
4. Also… why are gift bags, birthday cards, tissue paper, and all other present packing materials so dang expensive?! I was shopping around for a nice way to wrap my mom’s presents and it would have cost me something like $20. Uhm… what? I’m sorry but I’d rather buy her another present than spend the money on something that’s essentially going to end up in the trash. Time to get creative…
5. Thank you to whoever was my 700th Twitter follower – seeing this kind of thing was just like… *eye twitch*… So close!
6. All you need is…
7. … and maybe a box of this…
Although, to be honest, it’s probably not something I’m going to pick up. I don’t know about you guys, but ingredients lists that are a mile long and full of things that I can hardly pronounce don’t exactly pull me in, especially when I read reviews saying the product is mediocre at best. I could really go for a cinnamon toast muffin though… time to get creative [in the kitchen].
8. I was stuck in traffic the other day when this song by The Offspring came on the radio. Talk about taking me all the way back to junior high…
[youtube=”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHfY6VTRUFk&w=560&h=315″]
9. There’s nothing worse than climbing into bed for the night, getting all comfy, cozy, and warm, and then realizing that you forgot your phone in the other room (aka: what happened to me last night). The fact that I actually climbed out of bed to go and grab it is just proof of how ridiculously attached to that thing I am #sadbuttrue
10. Kaiah says… Brrrr it’s cold.
With all the nice weather we’ve been having lately, I thought for sure that spring was here to stay, but it looks like winter is going to be a pain in the butt and grace us with some more snow for the next 4 days… I have to laugh to keep myself from crying. Happy Thursday!

Muscle-printed leggings. Thoughts? Would you ever wear them?
What are some bands that were/are the epitome of high school for you?
Do long, complicated ingredients lists turn you off from buying a product?
Rachel @ Undercover Diva: A Sitcom
I do panic when I lose my phone, but I love that “Do Not Disturb” button for at night. It totally strokes my Diva ego because it makes me feel like I’m saying “I’m too busy for you, try again later” but really, I’m just sleeping. I am a fan of printed leggings/hot pants, but even *I* wouldn’t wear those leggings..and that’s saying something if you’ve seen me dress before.
Liz (formerly VeggieGirl)
Oh yes, I definitely panic right away. Often I’ll think I don’t feel my cellphone in my coat pocket but it really is in there, hahaha.
The muscle leggings = weird. Cool for a medical school student though.
The Offspring! Love them. Blink 182 was my high school band crush 😀
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I remember Blink <3 I still listen to them from time to time.
Liz (formerly VeggieGirl)
Check out songs by +44 (Mark and Travis are in the band now). I recommend “When Your Heart Stops Beating” and “155.”
Meghan @ After the Ivy League
OMG losing your phone is seriously the scariest feeling in the world! And buy a lunchbox!! I got one for less than $10 at TJ Maxx and absolutely love it.
Victoria @ Reluctantly Skinny
ha! i can’t believe you actually saw someone wearing those! i’ve seen them on the internet, but never in real life. my fiancee and i argue every night over who is going to set the cell phone alarm and turn off the light once we’re in bed…i usually lose =(
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl
Oh my gosh, those pants are awful!! Seriously, what will they think of next?? I am afraid to even wonder…
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
Umm, I might have cried with you if you lost your phone! :-p
I saw those muffins the other day too and I was definitely tempted…but I decided it may be more fun to create my own version. Or wait until you do and copy the recipe :-p And like you said, with less creepy, unpronounceable additives. Might be happening in the near future. Or, I’ll just buy a box of cinnamon toast crunch. Either way.
Those pants are hideous. No, I certainly would not wear those. Muscles are under skin for a reason, dammit.
I hate packing meals…that might be the biggest benefit of living 10 minutes away from school, actually. I already carry so much stuff with me (laptop, books,) that if I want to bring food I want it to be as small and portable as possible. Although, a cute lunchbox would make that more bearable.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I’m going to have to do a copycat recipe soon, because I’ve seriously had those on the brain since I saw that box! And I’m kind of glad that the cereal version doesn’t have so much weird stuff in it… just wonderfully delicious swirls of cinnamon and sugar #childofthe90s
Brittany
I saw those muscles leggings in person BEFORE I ever saw them online, and I cannot lie..I think they are awesome. I would only want to wear them if I were running though, not for an everyday look. HAHA. I have tried detaching myself from my phone here and there lately, it’s been nice..but not enough! I would love to just shut it off for a couple days..
Ohhh man those muffins sound delicious, but yes..the ingredient list would make me shutter. I can’t wait for you to make some so I can snag the recipe! 😉
Alex @ Cookie Dough Katzen
Ah those pants are terrifying. And that cinnamon boxed recipe looks so good but you’re right about the weird ingredients. That helps me not want it!
kris
One time my brother lost his phone and had a major panic attack because he thought he dropped it on the street when he dropped me off at the airport. Good thing he figured it out when I was still on the ground and able to use “find my iphone” with his username/password to locate his phone. Which just so happened to have slipped into one of the cracks between his seat.
And those pants! – oh boyy. I haven’t quite had the pleasure of seeing them in real life like you. I’m just curious in what fashion they were wearing them. Like was it just casual? Or did they wear them as workout leggings? Regardless, I’m sure they received a few stares along the way.
The cinnamon toast crunch croque cannelle looks so delicious! – but im right there with ya. Foods with super long ingredients lists totally turn me off. Especially when I’m only on the 3rd or 4th ingredient and already can’t pronounce the word…
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Find my iPhone?! I had no idea such a thing existed! That would be super useful since I usually leave my phone on vibrate, so even if I tried to call myself to locate it, it would do me no good. As for the pants, they were just casually wearing them… like walking down the street with a normal jacket and all. Definitely required a double-take.
kris
Yep! And you can turn on an alert which makes your iphone beep whether its on vibrate or not. Totally helped me find my phone once when it was buried under a huge pile of clothes under my desk in my room. Guess it was my fault for the mess…but at least I found my phone! 🙂
meredith
#1- I absolutely freaked when I lost my iphone last month for 4 hours. It was found in the gym but not before I was a total wreck and walking around thinking I felt it vibrate in my bag, went reaching for it only to not have it and going to answer it when I heard someone else’s ringing. #2 – I have a thing against buying long list ingredient food items. I can’t believe what I used to eat. It is crazy when you stop to look at the list! #3 – I feel old when I hear bands like Green Day on the radio and think of my high school days.
Shira
Self Esteem! Amazing jam..I still totally know all the words… Also ‘Why don’t you get a job’..RHCP ‘Scar Tissue’ was an obsession, and Korn ‘freak on a leash’ and Blink 182 (for better or for worse!) also takes me back.. Jr. High memories 🙂 Love it.
Katie @ KatieEnPursuit
OMG I can’t believe you actually saw someone wearing those in real life! I’m dying to know what they look like on! The best place I’ve found for wrapping & gift-bags is the “Dollar Store”, contrary to the name, they’re not all a dollar, they are much cheaper than Target or anywhere. Quick questions — did you eat said “rogue Hershey’s Kiss”? I would’ve 🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Those pants definitely make you do a double take! They’re kind of neat looking, but in one of those “it’s so weird that I can’t look away” ways more than anything else. As for said rogue Kiss, I was a little distressed at the time, but it met its end shortly after.
Lift, Sleep, Eat
So stressful when you lose your phone..my phone went through a stage where it decided it just didnt wanna work and the screen kept randomly turning itself off! Was so distressing..I am pretty attached to mine but if push came to shove I do think I could live without out it.
Those leggings look cool online I think but I would never actually go out wearing any!
Ashley @ Life and Fitness
I freak out when I can’t find my phone. It’s really sad how addicted I am to it. I always pack meals when I am out of the house because my diet is so limited. Plus takeout is expensive haha.
sara @ fitcupcaker
those leggings are crazy!! Who would ever wear such a thing! And its still cold here and its way overdue for some warm weather!! I work 12 hr shifts at the hospital and packing is a nightmare for the same reasons- if im craving something I dont have I am at a loss 🙁 You should see my lunch box on those days!
Nicole @ Fruit 'N' Fitness
I have ‘lost’ my phone so many times only I eventually find it. Those pants are horrible!
Mary @ Travels with Mary
so I think I’m the only person in the world (other than that new friend you saw) who likes those pants. but don’t worry everyone, I don’t have the money to buy them!
Hollie
The amount I’ve lost my phone in that one inch crack is enough to annoy me at the very least. Glad you found it before it got any worse…ie taking the plunge and buying a new ones because that is what I would do if I couldn’t find it in 15 minutes LOL.
I absolutely hate packing my lunch as well (boo working world). I’m hoping to one day find a job that I can be more on the go and out of an office setting but that all depends I guess.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
It’s not even not having a phone as much as it is feeling totally violated by whoever would find my old one! All my pictures and music and notes. Gah! That stuff is personal!
Miss Polkadot
Ack, yes, number 2 … Don’t even ask how embarassed I feel lugging around a huge bag mostly filled with food for a day in class. It must really see ridiculous to everybody around. But if I have a whole day of classes starting too early I pack both breakfast, lunch as well as sweet and savoury snacks. Then again it’s not my fault the caferia’s offering mostly tasteless food and additionally doesn’t have long opening hours.
Thanks for posting a picture of Kaiah again – I’ve missed seeing her on your blog.
Not being able to find my phone is making me panic, too. Even worse was forgetting it at my parents’ house before leaving for the Berlin trip with my mum in February. So embarrassing to notice just how dependent I’m on it when not having it on hand for a mere one and a half days.
De @ Cooking for the Other Half
Ok there’s like a zillion things in this post I need to comment on:
#1) I would cry if I lost my phone too. Definitely.
#3) UM. THOSE PANTS. Frightening.
#5) I wish I had 700 followers! Poo. Jealous.
#7) That needs to get in my kitchen, and then my belly, immediately.
#10) So cute.
Tiff @ Love Sweat and Beers
Yes, yes, yes on number 4. Ugh… 5 bucks for a bag? $5 for tissue paper and/or ribbon? Oh, and I guess I’m supposed to get a $5 card to go with that, eh? I bet it would have been a nicer gift if I’d just spent an extra $15 on it. Geeeeeze. Drives me bonkers!
Oh, and as for the cute lunch box, be careful. I have a cute one, but it’s not quite big enough for a full day of eats. Sometimes a nice cloth tote is more effective.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Maybe I’ll just have to get two – a lunchbox and a dinnerbox 😆
Sarah @ Making Thyme for Health
I hate packing my meals too, it’s such a hassle! I love those pants! Why wouldn’t you like them?! 😉
Offspring def brings me back to junior high as well. So does Everclear.
Taryn
I have been wanting to eat Cap’n Crunch for over a year now, but every time I tell myself it’d be okay to get one box, I look at that ingredient list and change my mind. I’m waiting for the day someone else has a box at their house and I can have a small bowl to satisfy the craving hahah.
SD
I have got to know where my phone is at all times. . .can’t do without the darned thing. There’s just too much that it proves useful for; who is Jennifer Lawrence dating? grab phone. . emails? all on there. . twitter stalking, recipe searching. And for any awkward moment where you don’t know what to do with your hands or where to put your face? phone to the rescue 😉 . It’s the first time I’ve come across a leggings/pants like these. I’m all for funky crazy prints but this is just yuck!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Haha! Oh gosh the awkward moment savior – that’s probably what I love most about my phone.
Robyn
I’ve never seen those cinnamon toast crunch muffins but that was my favorite cereal as a kid…but obviously a horrible choice to eat sugar coated squares for breakfast. I would totally try to duplicate that in a real ingredient kind of way, like with foods you can actually pronounce 🙂 and those leggings are HIDEOUS
Kim @ Hungry Healthy Girl
I’m so glad you weren’t serious about the pants…ugh! I definitely steer clear of products with too many ingredients, but I think every once in a while it’s okay to indulge. However, YOU could probably do much better coming up with something delicious in your kitchen!
Christina
Those muscle pants are GROSS! Why would you buy them, haha. You’ve got to buy yourself a cute lunchbox – I have this one:
http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Insulated-spaceman-design-lunch-bag-/00/s/MzU3WDM2MA==/$T2eC16F,!)EE9s2ufE9RBQRzsNTbq!~~60_12.JPG
and it makes me happy to pack my lunch in the morning! Plus I feel super thrifty when it comes to saving money and not buying food while I’m out. Long ingredients definitely freak me out – I think because in the UK we are generally really simple with our ingredients lists (GENERALLY!) so it’s quite easy to buy food which is almost the same as the way you would make it at home, thankfully.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I definitely noticed that the last time I was in Europe – the food over there seems so much more “normal” and closer to something that you would make at home. Maybe that’s why a lot of it tastes better…
Courtney
That muffin mix looks delicious!! 😛
Caitlin
I completely and totally freak when i can’t find my phone. I will do nothing else until it has been located, too (minor problem when I’m already running late for work). I know no numbers, contact info or anything else anymore without that thing (sad but true). Wrapping paper and whatnot drives me up a wall! I hate how expensive it is and have started wrapping things in tissue paper because it’s cheaper. Oh and muscle printed leggings? Ewwwe no thank you!
Carly @ Snack Therapy
I have major freakout when I can’t find my precious phone. I definitely squeeze some tears out for dramatic effect. And I love that your cereal boxes have French writing on them! I find it so quaint for some reason.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Ha! And I love how your cereal boxes don’t. It’s so much less cluttered! Although I have to admit that I owe some of knowledge of French to reading cereal boxes as a kid…
Lauren
The ingredients list is the first thing I look at when I buy something at the store. Some times I cave but other times the foreign words just turn me off. Those leggings… My gosh. I didn’t think real people actually bought that print. I used to be really attached to my phone but it has lost it’s appeal within the past two years. I can leave it at home and if I realize when I’m out, it’s no longer a panic attack just, “Oops”.
Shreya @ rushofendorphins
I dropped my iphone in the toilet 2 years ago on a drunk night. Bad night and I never let myself lose that much control ever again hahah. I totally panic if I can’t find my phone! I’m not as attached to it as I used to be, but my mom paid for it so I’d feel extremely guilty if something happened to it!
And long ingredient lists freak me out. It’s not even about fearing them but more like why would anyone put that into this?
Anddddd speaking of the Offspring… Their tracks (along with bad religion) used to play in my head all the time because of an old Playstation game, Crazy Taxi! Hahaha my primary school friends would come over and we’d all play that game for hours and hours!
Vanessa
this is a random question…but what brand of the cinamon toast crunch do you buy? thanks
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
When I was in the States, I picked up Cascadian Farm Cinnamon Crunch, but otherwise I just get the normal one from General Mills whenever the craving hits.
Rachel
Those pants lol I’m surprised you actually saw someone in real life with them! Brave person? hahahaha That’s def something I’d never wear lol It’s crazy how attached I am to my phone too… it’s literally always by my side lol so I can totally understand the tears of joy 😉
Lucie
Oh, there are so many cute lunchboxes I can only recommend to invest in one!
These pants???? Oh my Gosh….WHO does that? Haha, I don’t even know if I should cry or laugh about these.
And I totally freak out if I can not find my phone. I DO place it in another room over night since I really don’t want to be distracted from sleep – and I totally think I don’t need it at night. But yes, I am attached too and I use a passcode.
Kaiah ist the cutest thing ever!!
Khushboo
Haha those leggings are HAWT, sign me up for a pair…NOT! Maybe for Halloween but for the rest of the year, I’m going to have to pass! Like you, I’m addicted to my iPhone…it sleeps right next to me. I’m just glad I’m not a doctor because I can’t imagine being anymore attached to it haha! I remember drooling over those cinnamon toast muffins so I’m kinda glad they got mediocre reviews. I’m not a fan at all of long ingredient lists- once in a while, they’re fine but it has no room in my everyday diet. If I can’t recognise an ingredient, how can I expect my body to?
molly @ heart, sole & cereal
i am SO addicted to my phone, and i know it’s a problem but i can’t help it. because tex and i communicate solely via text a lot of the time (i hate talking on the phone, ironically) i can’t go to bed without my phone because we text before i go to bed. i also use it for my alarm so i legit do need it near my bed. i agree that leaving it in another room is the worst feeling. now i want to make cinnamon toast crunch muffins so since i’m not as good at creating recipes as you are, could you please make some so that i can copy the recipe? it sounds amazing. i love cinnamon crunch bagels from panera and imagine muffins would be similarly awesome.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Ditto to loving texting but hating talking on the phone. I can’t last longer than 5 minutes before I’m thinking up excuses to hang up. And I’m starting to try and think up a recipe for those muffins, but it might be a few because I have some birthday baking for mom to do this weekend.
Sarah @PickyRunner
Oh my goodness I know some snarky comments would escape my mouth if I ever had to see someone wearing muscle pants. Followed by crying over losing my phone (it’s happened before). I don’t mind packing a lunch but that’s mostly because I eat the same things either way so it really makes no difference to me. I can see why people who actually eat real/intricate meals for lunch would make it difficult to pack one though. Carrots and a sandwich don’t take a lot of effort though 🙂
Megan @ runningonjava
I’m known for having full-blown panic attacks about my phone’s whereabouts when it’s in my pocket. I’m nuts. Oh gosh – those leggings….too much. You need a cute lunchbox! I like packing my lunch so much more when I have something cute to put my food in 🙂 Check out Target.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Our Target doesn’t open until May, and I’m not sure that I can wait that long!
Lisa
That’s happened to my phone too! Ah, panic is the right word to describe that feeling.
Haha, ick I’m glad you aren’t getting those pants, because they are certainly maybe the oddest things I’ve ever seen;)
Peace, love, and caffeine I’m obsessed with that mug. Now where did you find that, because that’s totally my jam.
Oh goodness, more snow for you!! Yikes. I’ll be praying for the good weather gods over in Edmonton, you guys deserve some more sunshine I think. Happy Thursday love!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
It’s definitely an awesome mug for us caffeine lovers. I found it in Chapters when I was there the other day – they’ve always got some pretty awesome home stuff.
Lisa
Definitely checking them out in Chapter’s next time I go, which I’ll have to do this weekend!
