Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!
1. I’m so stoked that you guys like the Erin Condren giveaway!! And that so many of you are planner junkies in general 🤗 I don’t get too many chances to indulge my inner planner addict here on Spoons, so I always have a good time with those posts. Not that I don’t have a good time with the others, but food and health only make up part of my bundle of interests, so it’s nice to be able to share something different every now and then.
2. That being said, we’re getting back to the food for Spoons’ birthday on Saturday, and this is what we’ve got coming up…
I was actually going to do something a little more cake batter-y (so that I could use sprinkles, obvs), buuuuut then brownies happened. I’m not mad about it. Chocolate is never a bad idea. Unless you’re allergic to it. Or a dog. Then maybe it’s not such a great idea.
3. Now that I’m thinking about it, though, maybe I should have done some sort of muffin or loaf recipe since those seem to be the ones you guys like the most 😂
4. Anyways! After that, we’re jumping straight onto the pumpkin train. I know, I know – it seems a little early – but everyone is doing it. The Pumpkin Spice Latte is hitting Dunkin and McDonalds on August 29th and 31st, respectively, and while Bux hasn’t announced their launch date yet, it’ll most likely be the first week of September as well. The question is… are you ready for it?!? Because I’m thinking most of my city is since there was NO canned pumpkin at the store the last time I went to check.
5. I did pick up a box of this pumpkin tea, though…
I don’t know if it’s any good (let me know if you’ve tried it!), but I remember seeing it on a few blogs last year so I grabbed a box while I was down in Vegas since we don’t get this flavour up here in Canadaland. It smells very pumpkin spice-y. I quite like it, and I’m hoping it’ll be good for…
6. … the cold ass mornings! Holy snap. Maybe it’s just my neck of the woods, but the days are definitely getting colder. And shorter. I woke up the other day and it was only 6ºC (43ºF). It’ll warm up later in the day, but we’re still only hovering somewhere around 17ºC (63ºF). I’ve had to pull out the socks. And hoodie.
7. So I haven’t seen Suicide Squad yet (and I’m not sure I will to be completely honest), but I’m obsessed with a few of the songs from the soundtrack. Especially this one [that sounds way better through headphones than it does on crappy laptop speakers]….

8. And on that note, I hope you guys have an awesome Thursday! Make it an epic one 😎

Kelly @ Kelly Runs For Food
Lol I literally JUST finished typing my post for tomorrow in which I will rave about the Suicide Squad soundtrack…..Also, listening to it on Spotify at my desk at work too. It’s so good!
Also, not at all ready for pumpkin stuff yet. I need at least a couple weeks before I can embrace that!
Julie H
I love the harvest pumpkin tea! I bought it on clearance at Target last season and fell in love. When I couldn’t fin it in stores again, I turned to the trusty Amazon, who carries it year round. It’s a perfect tea with just a little bit of light cream in it. Hope you like it too since you’re probably not quite ready to break out your sleigh ride tea. 🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Ooo that’s good to hear! Especially the Amazon part, since it kind of drives me crazy when I fall in love with something and can’t get it anymore.
Jessie @ The Acquired Sass
I would love a few more cool mornings here. It was 59 degrees on Wednesday morning & it was beautiful and crisp, and I wanted pumpkin everything, but not enough to look up the dates when Pumpkin Mania would begin. I am already scouting Pinterest for new soup recipes to try & the best make at home PSL’s!
Beth
I read were the critics say Suicide Squad is a bomb. One of worst movies of the year so far. I have no idea what it’s about though and you can’t always trust the critics. I hope DD offers almond milk for their lattes. Pumpkin everything!! I’ve seen tons of products in the store with Pumpkin versions being offered for the season.
Abbie
Well, screw muffins and loaves, because those brownies look AMAZING! I can’t wait to see them. And no. It’s too early to have PSLs or anything else pumpkin or fall. We just got our summer weather thank you very much (besides the few days in April and May that were unseasonably hot). It finally in the 80s and 90s here, and I am living it up! I feel sorry for you though…that is chilly. I’m trying not to think about it because I am so not ready. I’m ready for three more months of this!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
It’s just warming up for you guys right now? Aww man that’s rough. I feel like we had a bit of an earlier spring, so we’re getting an earlier fall as well. It was so chilly the other day that I probably could have turned on the heater.
Emily Swanson
That’s so wonderful that Spoon’s birthday is coming up; I love when bloggers celebrate their blog-i-versaries! I’ve never seen that pumpkin spice tea; it looks good. It might taste good in a pumpkin bread too? (Not the tea bags, but the tea)
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I think it would! I’ve only ever tried cooking my oats in different liquids. I need to try it with some baking.
Meah
Fall is my favorite, so I’m totally ready for the pumpkin hype to get rollin’. But, let’s be real, I eat pumpkin and fall foods all year round. Sorry, not sorry 😉 . I was actually stoked when I went out side and my first thought was “I may need a little jacket”. I’m so over the sticky summer heat! I like Imagine Dragons, so I downloaded Sucker For Pain a few weeks ago and it’s definitely a good song for leg day.
xxMeah
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
That’s one of my favourites from the soundtrack! That one and Heathens.
Rachel @ athleticavocado
I’m one of those people who eat pumpkin year round but I still get excited when fall comes around because that means more cans available haha. And also, you can NEVER go wrong with brownies! Can’t wait to see that epic recipe 🙂
Victoria @ Minus Thirty Three
Omg, I’m SO ready for all thing pumpkins! 🙂 🙂
Also, I haven’t seen Suicide Squat yet either but is loving the soundtrack!
Rachael @ Catch me if you can
i am so ready for pumpkin spice I love it! that tea looks really good though Ill have to keep an eye out the next time im at the grocery store.i wish we were having cold snaps, its still 70’s in the morning 90’s in the afternoon, im definitely dreaming of cold weather.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I found the tea at Whole Foods, if that helps!
Lisa @ Lisa the Vegetarian
I’m ready for pumpkin everything! I have to admit, I’ve already started drinking pumpkin flavored coffee at home.
Lindsey @livinglovingrunner
I have no had the urge to even think about pumpkin yet…but now everyone is talking about it! I am ready for some cooler mornings…and less humidity for sure!!
Bethany (Lulu)
Oh my goodness, I can’t wait to start putting pumpkin in everything! Have you tried the pumpkin spiced Cherrios yet? I haven’t yet, but I hear they are amazing.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I haven’t but I’ve been seeing them on social media! I’m not even sure if we get them up here 😕
Jen Rawson, RD (@PrettyLilGrub)
I am SO not ready for pumpkin spice lattes. Not only because I don’t like them but because it means end of summer which I am really not willing to accept yet.
Sarah @ Foxy's Domestic Side
Here you guys are entering the cold season already and our hot season really hasn’t started yet! Our hot season is typically September and October and sometimes even November, wahhh!! We’ve had such a great summer so far with the temps, wish it would last forever! Can you do a post on your planner, if you decorate, show us some pages, I’d love to see! 🙂 Thanks.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
For sure, Sarah! A few people have actually asked for it, so I’ll try to sneak something in somewhere.
Kat
Maybe it’s because I live in Cali, but pumpkin has never NOT been on the shelves here. I never had issues finding it throughout the year – the only difference is that it’s like $2.99 a can instead of the $1.99 a can it can be when fall rolls around 😉 And ugh I am SOOOO ready for tea weather! It’s still in the 100s out here and while the mornings can be a bit brisk, by 8am the heat is up to 80!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
We always have pumpkin here too, but it seems to disappear faster around this time of the year 😆
Lesley
I’m not a fan of pumpkin, but that’s not the reason I’m not ready to see it in stores. Texas is still very much summer, and since pumpkin is hitting stores earlier every year, there’s a disconnect between still summer and pumpkin.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
That’s totally how I feel all the time, Lesley. I’m thinking about fall recipes already in the late summer because of the blog, so I feel like I never really know what season it is 😆
Catherine @ A Cup of Catherine
As much as I’m ready for fall, it’s just too darn early for pumpkin. Sorry 😉 It must be September at least….
I need to enter your Erin Condren giveaway. I had a Plum Paper planner this past year and I loved it…but it was a more budget-friendly option for me. Crossing my fingers I win 😉
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I’ve heard good things about Plum Paper Planners too! Have you looked into the Happy Planners they sell at places like Michaels? Those are pretty nice as well, and they have SO many neat accessories.
Laura @ This Runner's Recipes
Suicide Squad was ok – not bad but not great – but the soundtrack is fantastic. I’m excited for the mornings to get cool again! We’ve been in the mid-50s all summer but mornings in the 40s are the best.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
You guys seriously have the best weather over in the northwest. And gorgeous views. Basically, I’d love to live there 🙂
Heather @ Polyglot Jot
That tea looks yummy–i hope my store has it! I love pumpkin things but i try not to get started too early because my love of summer wins over all.
That being said, if it was 43 degrees in the morning, you better believe im starting pumpkin season!
michele @ paleorunningmomma
Funny that Diana had some similar pumpkin thoughts as you today! I think when I come back from the beach I’ll be ready for PSL madness 🙂
Ellen @ My Uncommon Everyday
Soooo ready for fall + pumpkin + apple flavors! It just warmed up from super nice temps here, but I think I’m still planning on recipe testing fall stuff today. 🙂 And those brownies look amazing!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I was recipe testing fall stuff all weekend as well, and it definitely messed with me to be smelling spices in my kitchen and seeing green leaves outside 😆 I hope all your testing worked out!
Jen @ Chase the Red Grape
Quick comment – I tried to link up but it says I don’t have a backlink (which I do!) – can you fish my entry out for me? 🙂 X
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Sorry about that, Jen! I have no idea why inlinkz likes to mess with some people, but I always try to check the entries right when I wake up and then regularly throughout the day just to make sure no one gets stuck in moderation.
Rachel
Admittedly I’m not a huge fan of pumpkin. But I love caramel apple and it’s almost the same. 😂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Lol! I’m personally with you on that one. I don’t mind pumpkin, but apple is definitely better. And I think what I like most about it is the spices anyways.
Julie @ Running in a Skirt
Ohhhhh those chocolate brownies look so good. Going over to check out the planner giveaway now! Thanks for hosting.
Jess @ Keeping It Real Food
I am way too excited for pumpkin.
Marina @ A Dancer's Live-It
Omg I NEED to see Suicide Squad too! Harley Quinn is my spirit animal hahah and YAY for pumpkin season, I can’t wait to see all the goodies coming up! 🙂
Morgan @ Morgan Manages Mommyhood
I’m loving the cold mornings here – we’ve had 50 degrees F here in NJ! I’m beyond ready fro fall and pumpkin – I cannot wait. It’s supposed to warm back up over the next few dayswhich is a bummer, though, ha!
heather @Lunging Through Life
I had pumpkin tea the other night- I won’t lie, haha. It was chilly and just felt appropriate. Now we’re back into the 90s so I’m wishing for that cooler weather again!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
You can have some of ours! It was so cold that I could have turned on the heater this morning…
Gretchen
I feel like last year, pumpkin mania hit WAY to early (like beginning of August) so I’m fine with September! As soon as I feel a nip in the air I want all the pumpkin!!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Things are coming out crazy early these days! I even say Christmas stuff making appearances in stores around the beginning of August!
Patricia @Sweet and Strong
I love pumpkin, but I like baking/cooking with it. I’m not sure about all the pumpkin flavored foods. And OMG why are erin’s planners so adorable, I have one but feel like I need more because they’re all so cute!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Right?! I’m seriously considering ordering a neutral one as well, just because I can’t decide which one I like better. And I’m with you on baking with pumpkin – some of the flavoured stuff just tastes way too artificial.
Michelle
Got to be honest….not really a pumpkin fan! I don’t strongly dislike it, it’s just never my first choice. In the fall I tend to favorite apple cider type things.
Looking forward to the brownie recipe. But I’m out of cocoa so better get some asap. What brand do you use? Never sure if I should splurge on an expensive kind of cocoa or just go with the basic stuff.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I use both Hershey’s natural and Camino’s Dutch-processed, and the difference in taste mainly depends on the kind of recipe I’m using it in. For things like smoothies and no-bake recipes, I prefer the Dutch-processed since it’s been alkalized and doesn’t taste so acidic… and also blends with liquids easier. For baking, I’ll usually go natural since any baking soda I add to the recipes helps neutralize the acidity. I can’t really say that I have a favourite, though!
Alicia @Bridges Through Life
Now that I got some smores m&ms and finished the bag, I guess it is time to say goodbye to summer and hello pumpkin and apple things. I am looking forward to apple picking in september and as far as pumpkin, looking out for the new pumpkin spice cheerios which so far I hear are only at Walmart.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I need to make it a point to go apple picking this year! I always think the season starts way later than it does, and I end up missing it completely.
Susie @ Suzlyfe
I bought pumpkin spic cheerios on Monday. I’m going to make myself wait a little bit to eat them (mostly becuase I had JUST opened another box of cereal the day before, but at the rate that I destroy cereal, it won’t be long). It has been gorgeous around here, andI want this weather to never end!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I’ve been seeing the pumpkin spice cereal on IG, but I’m pretty sure we won’t get it up here 😕
Chocolaterunsjudy
40s? Brrrr! Our mornings are cooler, but presently it’s 68 at 5:30 am & yet another heat wave is headed in our direction. And I need to go to my parents for a few days — no treadmill!
Yes, chocolate is always a good idea & so are brownies!
meredith @ cookie chrunicles
I can’t believe how cold it is by you already! that’s like crazy talk to me given how long it will take to be like that here in ny. I could use it for my morning runs though!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Oh it’s sososo cold here this weekend. To the [point where I probably should have turned the heater on, but I refuse to do it so early!
Hollie
I’m a huge pumpkin fan myself. I honestly cannot wait for it to get here! I’m really hoping I win an Erin Condren planner. I love her planners and I have been using them for a few years now. They keep me super motivated and organized.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I honestly have no idea what I’d do without mine, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you, Hollie!!
Courtney
YES, I am so ready for pumpkin season! I’m always super disappointed with pumpkin tea, though– but I end up trying them all anyway, and I haven’t tried that one!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I find I’m almost always disappointed with flavoured teas as well (especially the dessert ones), so I’m trying not to get my hopes up too high for this one.
Katie
We’ve had a few colder mornings (not really cold, but where the humidity had at least died down quite a bit and there was a slight chill) and it gave me hope…then yesterday the humidity returned and I couldn’t sleep with blankets again last night for fear of melting.
Katie
Those brownies look SO good!😍 Your flourless brownies recipe makes the BEST brownies I’ve ever had, so I’ll definitely be making the new brownies when you post the recipe on Saturday! Your banana oat greek yogurt muffins sure are one of my favourites, but you never know…the brownies could be on that list too! I’m all for bringing the pumpkin out! Otherwise if you wait until October, you’ve only got it for a month before we head into Christmas season and Pumpkin goes out the window again! Looking forward to the recipes!😄
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I know! I feel like, especially with blogging, you’ve got to think so far ahead in advance since it takes a while for recipes to pick up steam, and by the time they do, you might have missed the peak. That’s why I’m always messed up with my seasons 😆
