Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!
1. Hi, hi from up in the sky! Well, by the time you read this, I’ll hopefully already be hanging out in Vegas, but I’m actually writing this on the plane ride over there since I have about 2.5 hours to kill and nothing else to keep me occupied. Not that talking with you guys is a last resort, but I didn’t have a chance to pre-write this post so we’re doing a little on the fly ToLing from up in the sky today. Let’s see where this goes…
2. You know that “I know I’m forgetting something” feeling that you get right before you walk out your door? The one that plagues you all the way to the airport while you go through a mental inventory of all the things it could possibly be? Toothbrush? Check. Underwear? Check. Contacts? Check. Makeup? Check. Snacks?… Snacks?!?! Oh.crap. This may be the first time I’ve ever forgotten to take travel snacks with me, which makes me especially sad since I baked up a fresh batch of cookie dough protein granola bars just for the trip… only to leave them sitting on the kitchen counter at home. Sigh. But it’s okay. I got myself some of these…

3. Oooop. Hit some nasty turbulence. Is it weird that I actually enjoy turbulence because it makes me feel like I’m on a ride at an amusement park? Mmmm yeah. Probably a little weird. The only place I don’t enjoy it is if it catches me in the bathroom… then it just becomes a matter of life or death.
4. So I didn’t manage to get a window seat on this flight, which is one big fat fail. I completely forgot to check in early and reserve a seat online, and by the time I got around to it, the only ones left were in the aisle. Womp, womp. I’m not a big fan of not being able to see outside because it makes me feel a little claustrophobic and disoriented, but at least this flight is relatively short. Kind of.
5. And at least it introduced me to what may be my favourite new place on the plane to sit — the emergency exit row. You guys… the leg room here is insane…
6. You know what I’m kind of disappointed about? The fact that I didn’t manage to catch Britney Spears in Vegas. I’ll probably always have a soft spot for her since I basically of grew up with her music, and you’ve gotta admit that she has some catchy tunes. My workout playlist may or may not include a tonne of her songs, and don’t even try to tell me that yours doesn’t too…

7. The lady next to me is reading what I’m assuming is a harlequin romance novel called The Spanish Duke’s Virgin Bride. Mmkay. She’s also incredibly good at crosswords, which I can’t solve for the life of me. Go, lady, go.
8. Oooop. More turbulence. Actually, I think that’s the plane getting ready to land. Maybe? Yes! Alright, friendly faces — see you on the other side ground!
9. Soooo…. fast forward 3 hours and… we’re here!
That was seriously one of the bumpiest landings I’ve ever had… probably because we spent about 30 minutes circling around a storm that was hovering over Vegas. Eesh.
10. Alright, friendly faces, that’s it for me. I might be a little scarce over the next few days, but I’ll do my best to keep up with you and we’ll catch up when I’m back. Have a good one! π
No questionsβ¦ just tell me whatever comes to your mind! π

Kaila @healthyhelperblog!
We would be perfect plane buddies! I loooove the aisle seat and hate being closed in at the window! I like to be able to get up whenever I want. π
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment
Have a fabulous time in Las Vegas! You are going to have so much fun. Enjoy!
Laur
I love rollercoasters, so I LOVE take-offs on the airplane. My friend held my hand on our way to Puerto Rico and I was like, “GO PLANE, GO”! Hahah. I guess I’m weird, too, but I just think it gives me an edge. π
Love Britney. #sassy
Victoria at Ice Packs + Races
I will always have the same soft spot for Britney too!! Love the TOL from in the air π
Jessica @ Semi-Sweet Tooth
My name is Jessica and I just found this and was therefore unprepared. ARGH! Don’t worry, I’ll be back! Loving this idea!
And heck, if you can’t see B. Spears, then you may as well get jiggy wit it on the dance floor anyways. Have fun!! π
Hollie
Oddly enough I really like to sit in aisle and middle seats. I normally have to use the rest room on flights so it’s a lot easier for me to get out. Enjoy Vegas!
Niki @ Life With Niki
Love how you did this TOL up in the air- I am one of those people who absolutely loves airplanes and traveling! What I don’t understand however is how you forgot to pack snacks. I for one cannot even go to the mall without packing a snack… hanger is big issue if you cannot tell ;P.
Pshhhht I don’t listen to Britney Spears (whilst humming toxic)….
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job
I HATE turbulence. It’s a phobia I seem to have developed. I always pack a ton of snacks too like I’m afraid I will never be able to eat again when I fly. Hope you have a great trip!!
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West
Woohoo! Have a great time! π
Shashi at RunninSrilankan
Oooh I love me some watermelon – only thing is it makes me run to the loo and, being in the loo on a plane can be nerve racking, especially when turbulence hits!
I am a Brittany fan too – so I’m totally commiserating with you on not getting to see her – but, here’s hoping you have a blast this weekend, anyways!
Darlene
Lucky you. I love Vegas. Haven’t been in years, though. I love turbulence too. It makes the flight less boring. I like aisle seats and the first row – lot’s of leg room and you’re out of there fast.
Have fun on your trip.
Sarah @pickyrunner
Ahh such a cool picture from the sky! Have the best weekend!
Juli @1000lovelthings
Wishing you a fab time in Vegas! I’ll be there in a little over two months π
I always have this nagging feeling that I forgot something important. And then I check phone, passport and credit card (yes in this order) because if you have those three items nothing can go really wrong!
Suzy
Ohhh, I love Britney. I know what you mean about having a soft spot for her. Have fun in Vegas, baybeee!
Gretchen | Gretchruns
Have a great trip! And yes, you’re crazy for liking turbulence π I always get nervous and grab my fiance’s arm WAY too hard until it’s over. Other than that I’m a great plane rider!
Julie @ Running in a Skirt
Happy Vegas trip! I hope you have a great time! I’m sure you will find lots of yummy stuff to eat! The food there is insane.
jill conyers
Have a great trip Amanda! How did it go without travel snacks? That’s traveling 101.

Hope you have an amazing time in Vegas! Lynne and I were there in September last year, we stayed at the MGM Grand and had an amazing time. Are you doing the helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon? If not I SERIOUSLY recommend it!
BTW, Britney wasn’t there last year for us either. Boooo! We wanted to see her but got to see the Michael Jackson ONE show and also The Rat Pack!
Laura @ This Runner's Recipes
Have a great trip! Turbulence always wrecks my nerves during a flight, but I also hate roller coasters so it makes sense.
Marcia
Have a wonderful trip! Vegas is so much fun. I’ll be there in November. : )
Cody @ onehungryrunner
I love an exit row–soo much leg room π Have soo much fun in Vegas!!
Sarah @ Sarah's on the Run
Have fun in Vegas! I’m a terrible flyer so anytime there’s turbulence, I’m totally on edge. ha.
Heather@hungryforbalance
Have fun!
Arman @ thebigmansworld
I hope you fall in the fountain or get chased by Hello Kitty.
Susie @ SuzLyfe
I reallllly want to go to Vegas–I want to people watch, eat all the things, and sit by the pool. I’ll let my husband play poker (he is pretty darn decent). And please tell me the lure for WOMEN of stories about virgin brides? Or don’t, actually, I don’t care to know. Have a great time1
Becky @ Olives n Wine
I’m fairly certain every single time I land in Vegas we hit turbulence – yuck! Thankfully that’s usually one of the flights I’ve had a beverage or two so I’m not as freaked π Have so much fun even though you’ll be missing out on Ms. Spears!
Miss Polkadot
Wow, I’m impressed a simple flight inspired a whole post of fun random tidbits to share for you. Note to self: get better at noticing and remembering the little things. Honestly, I think I wasn’t meant to write random thought posts because they’re the hardest for me. There’s always that ‘does anybody really care about xyz?’ voice in my head. Hello, overthinking trait.
Enjoy your time in Vegas!
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
HAVE FUN IN VEGAS!!!
Don’t do anything I would do. Scratch that, do it all, minus the Britney part, although she is on my play list. On the last trip I took (Vegas too by the way), I forgot my vitamin C’s. I did bring some, just not enough. Apparently I miscounted my days. Good thing I don’t work with numbers for a living. Oh wait, oops.
Sam @ Grapefruit & Granola
Have fun on your trip! I am also a Britney lover from back in the day. Have you heard about her latest drama with Iggy Azalea? Don’t mess with Brit π
Debbie
Wow! It is awesome that they let you put your bag under the front seat. Normally when sitting by the emergency exit it is not allowed.
Have an amazing time in Vegas and share some pictures with us, please. π
Thank you so much for the awesome link party!
Michele @ paleorunningmomma
Yay! Hope you have tons of fun! I also have a sweet spot for Britney but I don’t listen to her songs currently, maybe that should change though now that you mention it. You also just reminded me that i did crazy amounts of crossword puzzles while in bedrest during my first pregancy. I can’t believe I was on bedrest pre smart phone, I’m guessing it would feel different now!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy
I almost always forget something. Our trip to Annapolis was a rare exception, except apparently I forgot my mojo, as I wrote about today. I prefer aisle seats! Easier access to the bathroom. Enjoy Vegas. I’d miss my race, but I would rather be there. π
Lisa @ Running Out Of Wine
Glad you made it safely! I like the window seat except that I hate having to climb over people to go to the bathroom. I love all that extra leg room in the exit row. Have a great trip!
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
Hell yes exit row leg room. I always go for window seats on planes, but I feel like I should be doing aisle because I have to get up and pee all the time. So you’re welcome for that little tidbit :-p
Also it’s 2:44 in the morning so you can probably guess where I am right now…
Morgan @ Morgan Manages Mommyhood
Have fun in Vegas!! I love that little bag of watermelon? I LOVE the exit rows. t
the best!- have a safe and awesome trip!
Daisy @ Fit Wanderlust Runner
Have a great time in Vegas! π
Laura @ Raise Your Garden
Oh my, I live in the U.S. and have never been to Vegas, here the food is great though!!!! Anyhow, I totally sympathize with packing, you forgot your snacks…..not good!!!! Now Amanda, I know you are a Sephora shopping, I am experiencing both acne and wrinkles…..bleh, help. Any suggestions of products to buy? I know you did a post on this before.
