Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!
1. You’re going to have to excuse me for geeking out on you for a moment here, because the new Erin Condren 2016 Life Planners just launched this week, and I.am.in.LOVE. I mean, you guys know how obsessed I am with my current ECLP (read my review here), and the new ones have a tonne of awesome changes and improvements, including more personalization and even a limited rose gold edition…
[source]
Uhm… hello, lover. I know they might seem a tad pricey, but these things are worth every penny if you’re a planner/scrapbook fanatic. And if you sign up using my referral link* you can even get $10 off your first order. I may or may not already have one purchased for next year #obsessed.
(*if you sign up using my link, you get $10 off your first order and I get $10 credited to my account. Lots of love for your support!)
2. Speaking of “oh.my.god I need that in my life”… Tiff brought this to my attention…
[source]
It’s a Game of Thrones colouring book. For adults. Like… what?! It’s supposed to be a good one, apparently, and it’s even got Martin’s stamp of approval. The only thing is that it won’t be out until October. Sad face. BUT! there’s an online version you can mess around with if you’re feeling so inclined.
3. And speaking of adult colouring books… I’m still waiting for mine to get here, and I ordered it towards the end of April. Ugh. What is life. Apparently they didn’t expect them to be so popular, so they weren’t prepared for the mass quantities they had to ship out and had to print more. Adult colouring books… who knew?!
4. Please don’t hate me, but… it horrible that it’s not even summer yet and I’m already [kind of] wishing for winter? Or at least fall? Or any sort of reprieve from the hot weather? I probably don’t even have much right to complain since it’s nowhere near as hot here as it can get in other places, but daaaaaang… I don’t know how you guys do it! Mid to high 20’s (high 70’s to low 80’s) and I’m already dying!
5. And in addition to taking away my will to live ability to function like a normal human being, the heat’s gone and ninja’d my appetite too. Nothing sounds good, and I’ve pretty much been living off smoothies, salads, watermelon, and frozen bananas with almond butter.
6. Oh, and cookies… which I’ve actually been baking in my toaster oven because my place doesn’t need any help heating up π
7. Do people still use landlines these days? I ask because I have one, but I really have no idea why. I mean, the only people who have the number (which I can’t even really remember) are my parents, and they usually just call or text me on my cell anyways. It’s not like it costs a crazy amount, but I’m sure it adds up by the end of the year. Probably another one of those things I should get around to getting rid of…
8. I popped my homemade hummus cherry! Which is to say that I finally got around to making my own hummus at home. I have no idea what took me so long, but I think it had something to do with being worried that I wouldn’t like my homemade version as much as the ones in the store. Totally ungrounded — the homemade version rocked my socks off. And it was super easy and quick to whip up! I posted the recipe for this zesty lemon lime hummus over on Savory Style, so go check it out if you’re interested in whipping up your own too!
9. So I’m back to making my coffee at home again after a brief stint of being back in Starbucks, and I’m not sure if it’s coincidence or what, but I had the worst headache two days after I stopped going… and I never get headaches. Maybe it’s because the coffee in Bux is so much stronger than the one I make at home and I was going through caffeine withdrawals? Either way, that wasn’t a fun day, and I’m glad it’s over… whatever it was.
10. Happy Thursday, friendly faces! Have yourselves an awesome day π
No questionsβ¦ just tell me whatever comes to your mind! π

We haven’t had a landline for years. I’m surprised they actually still have land lines π
Those day planners are super cool. I already emailed your link to a couple of my girlfriends who are obsessed with day planners. They will probably been on there all day today designing their custom day planners. Every time I turn around they have a new one. Now they can make one that has everything in it they want! Thanks for sharing.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
And thanks for sharing my link, Cassandra! Hope Thursday’s been good to ya π
Melissa
Yum, the hummus looks great! I’ve always wanted to try making my own.
Shashi at RunninSrilankan
I am so happy that I am not the only one with a land line – though in my case, telemarketers are the only ones that call that thing – and we don’t ever answer it!
Am sorry you are melting – I get all lethargic in Winter – but summer, summer I love – it’s supposed to hit the 90’s F here by tomorrow! And that doesn’t stop me from baking either, or drinking HOT coffee…clearly, I’ve got issues! π
Happy TOL Thursday!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
If you do then I do too because hot coffee is the only thing I’ll go for!
Jessie @ Just Jessie
Girl, I adore you, but do NOT wish away summer already!!! I live for the days when it’s sunny and in the 80s. π I’m definitely not made to be a Wisconsin baby, that’s for sure.
Marcia
It’s been hot here for like 2 minutes so far so I have no complaints. Totally agree with you that homemade hummus rocks, however I bought a huge bucket of tahini and used maybe 2T of it so far. Why do they make such huge containers of it??
Toaster oven cookies = genius!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
That’s what I want to know!! I have the hardest time using up tahini as well, but there are some pretty awesome salad dressings and sauces you can make out of it!
Sabrina @ Nutritiously Sweet
Baking cookies in a toaster oven is genius! I don’t like the heat either. But I dont like below zero weather! I enjoy 45-75… other then that I’m like ick!!
Suzy
Weird about the headaches… are you still using Starbucks beans to brew your own?
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Yes ma’am! But I use a Keurig and can definitely feel that it’s a lot weaker than the one from Bux.
Laura @ Team Nutrition Genius
Oh that planner looks amazing!! I also LOVE adult coloring books (hope it arrives soon!), my inner kid needs a break from technology and the mad rush every day π
Jen @ Pretty Little Grub
It’s too soon to start thinking about 2016 but I love that Rose gold planner and kind of want it immediately. Dman you Amanda! π
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Me?! Blame EC! She’s the one who decided to make it limited edition, and I have no idea if that means it’s only available for a couple of months, or if you can still buy it in December. I’d rather not take any chances π
Kelly @ Kelly Runs For Food
Oh man, if the weather here stayed in the high 70s all summer I’d be in heaven. Heat index is in the high 90s this week down here! My appetite isn’t as strong in the summer months either. All I want are salads and smoothies. At least I’m craving healthy things for once haha. I’ll take it!
Lesley
I haven’t had a landline since I moved to Dallas 6 years ago. The only calls my parents’ landline would get were charities and telemarketers and I didn’t want that.
Alison @ Sweetly Petite
Don’t wish for winter! Enjoy the summer sun π on a completely different note, your hummus looks amazeballs!
Kelsey / A Turquoise Lining
Definitely more of a lover of fall/spring… Yes, the warmth is nice in the summer, but I hate being warm! Plus, I feel like my summer wardrobe shrunk, so I’m a little curious how that will all work out this summer.
tiff @ love, sweat, & beers
Allllllll the watermelon! π Oh, and I’m glad you like the coloring book idea. As soon as I saw it, I thought of you! Please excuse me while I geek out for a moment, but I already have a Halloween costume picked out for this year. I’m going as the mother of dragons, and yes, my boys will both need dragon costumes. (nerd)
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Oh.My.GOD. Now that’s just absolutely brilliant. You better be posting pics when it happens!
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment
Wow- you are really ahead of the game! I ca’t even thinking of buying a planner for next year yet I bought the Erin Condren after reading your review and I agree it’s pretty fantastic.
Julie @ Running in a Skirt
I just got the Enchanted Forest Coloring book and I’m kind of obsessed! Love it!! Thanks for the linkup!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Okay, that’s seriously making me think that mine got lost somewhere in the mail π₯
Heather@hungryforbalance
Sad face about the coloring books!!
I am totally with you about already being over hot weather (and it is not even technically summer yet)! I am not looking forward to next month when the temperature reach the upper 90s.
Thanks for hosting!
Liz @ I Heart Vegetables
Those planners are gorgeous!! And as far as homemade hummus goes, I’ve made some before but I have tried it again in years! I need to give it a shot again!
Sam @ See Sam Run
I can’t wait to order my new Erin Condren planner!! I think I’m going to stay with the vertical layout, because it works perfectly for my schedule. I have no idea what cover to get, though!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
The struggle is real! There are so many gorgeous ones. If you’re going for metallic, I think the turquoise is amazing, but from the classics, I really love the geodes, plaid, and viva espana.
Hollie
The coffee in Starbucks is always so much stronger. I can completely relate to that one. I’m glad you are enjoying your Thursday and I hope you continue too!
Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious
I haven’t owned a landline in j don’t know how long. I decided a long time ago it wasn’t worth the money because the only people that called me on it were marketers.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Truth! I don’t get many spammy calls since my number is unlisted, but it’s something my parent always complain about and I’m like… why not just get rid of it?
Erin @ The Almond Eater
Ha! My mom still has her landline but my dad got rid of his. I know this because I couldn’t get ahold of him the other day and tried calling that number and the kind operator told me the number was disconnected. Womppppp. But typically I NEVER call the home phone–and I obviously don’t have one myself!
Susie @ SuzLyfe
I absolutely use a day planner. My phone calendar just helps me get to appointments–my day planner has my life in it! I put notes in there on everything from what I ate (so that I can remember for later on in life) to doctors to where I go and what I make. It is like a mini diary!
Alyssa @ Renaissancerunnergirl
I love using old fashioned day planners even though phones are more convenient nowadays.. I have a polka dot Cath Kidston one π Writing these things down actually makes me more apt to remember!
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
I need more hummus in my life, which might be a strong possibility since I just scored a bundle of garlic scapes (insert squeal with a happy face emoji here). I’m thinking pesto and hummus for the win.
I think I want your coloring book to come as badly as you do. Maybe a good old fashioned puzzle in the meantime will help.
I’m glad the headaches are gone and I hope they stay away.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Whenever I hear you say “scapes,” I can’t help but think of Finding Nemo when Dory was all “Essscapay.” No idea…
Arman @ thebigmansworld
you are NOT complaining over Winter coming.
Also. Twinning with the hummus…although yours looks way prettier.
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
Agreed about this winter business. I pretended that entire bullet point didn’t exist. Blasphemous!
CARLA COLORS :-)
I waited forever for my day of the dead coloring book too.
whats up with that?!
but its here and I love.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
And I totally love that you colour π
Lucie@FitSwissChick
SUMMERRRR!!! Never too hot for me π The reason why I need to move!
Thank you for the link to the colorbooks. I will be the hero in my office. Everyone except me is obsessed – and the only reason is cause they keep forgetting to borrow me the DVD’s. I am not only the oldest, I am also totally out. But now I got some bonus points thanks to you <3
Sam @ Grapefruit & Granola
I’m so excited about the new EC planner but mine doesn’t run out until December π thinking about splurging anyway!!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Mine is good until next year as well! I’ll probably just let this new one sit and admire how pretty it is π
Brynn
Obsessed with the new rose gold EC planner! It is stunning. I have an EC for 2015, but I am thinking this beauty needs to be on deck for next year. I love a good planner, and EC is that, hands down.
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
Don’t you wish away my warm weather! I had the day off on Monday when we hit like 32 degrees, and I spent a good few hours in the backyard just reading and soaking it up. Loooove the heat.
It’s actually been years since I had a landline – my parents don’t even have one at their place anymore. I feel like they’re slowly being phased out?
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
My parents still have one, but the only real calls they get on it are spammy. I wonder if they’re going to set up a new one in their new place…
Michele @ paleorunningmomma
I hear you on the heat, we’re getting up to 90 today and I’m not a fan. I feel sluggish just thinking about it! Using the toaster oven to bake cookies is so smart though π too bad I don’t have a toaster oven! And those planners are gorgeous. I think I’m too superstitious to buy one for next year this early!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy
Noooooo! Don’t say the W word. I’m not a fan of running in heat, but man I do not want it gone, either! We still have a landline, but it’s through the internet so it doesn’t cost much. It would probably cost more to use our cells to call the people we do call – no unlimited minutes here – and my parents do NOT text; I wish they would.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
t took mine forever to jump on the bandwagon as well, but now I think they prier texting me to actually talking on the phone π
Lisa @ Running Out Of Wine
Noooo don’t wish away the summer! I am so worried that we aren’t gonna get a real summer since the weathers been so crazy. I may complain about the heat but I am SO not ready for the cold to come back! I haven’t had or used a landline in years. We have a phone jack but no actual phone or number. The last time I had one it was actually because it was cheaper to bundle phone, cable, and internet rather than paying separately, but I don’t think I even knew my own phone number.
Juli @1000lovelthings
You sparked a weird craving of frozen bananas with almond butter right now!
My in-laws are the only ones who ever call our landline. Whenever it rings I call Stefan to pick up! I actually don’t know why we still have it.
I love the homemade hummus! It’s way better than any store bought you can get here. Lime is one of my favorite flavors right now. I am goint to check out the recipe now π
Tom~ Raise Your Garden
Just tell you what’s on my mind? I love that question. Right now I’m making worm tubes for my garden. I had to go to a plumbing store to buy these huge tubes, the guys think I”m off my rocker. But I saved 50 bucks making each one myself. They increase circulation in my garden and feed the dirt. So food for my garden not myself this week. WE love watermelon too, eat one everyday!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
If you slice up some bananas, spread a little almond butter on them, dip them in melted chocolate, and freeze them, your world will be rocked π
Juli@1000lovelythings
This sounds like the best thing ever! I need to do this. Thanks!
