Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!
1. What do you do when you’re well into April and it still feels like winter outside? You bring Spring inside…
What now, Mother Nature?!? Yeaaaaah… I thought so.
2. Please tell me you’ve seen this amazingness. It’s safe to say that I’d enjoy my treadmill workouts a whole lot more if I could do this. And now excuse me while I spend the rest of the day trying to get Uptown Funk out of my head… and possibly attempting to dance on my treadmill.
[youtube=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWu9o5zrj3g&w=640&h=427″]
3. Speaking of treadmills… I’m still running! I made it a goal to improve my running in 2015, and by golly (omg did I seriously just say that?!) I’m gonna do it! I don’t talk about running much on Spoons because I don’t really feel like I have a whole heck of a lot to say about it. There are so many amazing running blogs out there, with people training for marathons and ultras and what not, and I couldn’t even tell you how far or how fast I run. I don’t track or pace myself because that’s basically what killed the enjoyment for me in the past, so I just “left foot, right foot” it until I feel like I got a good workout in. I can tell that I’m improving, though, and that’s good enough for me [for now]!
4. So I finished reading The Husband’s Secret, and I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for an easy, entertaining, and relaxing read. It’s one of those books that you have a hard time putting down because you just want to find out what happens next… especially since there are a few different story lines cleverly interwoven throughout the book so you constantly have to wait a few chapters to find out how things turn out. Not gonna lie — I peeked ahead more times than I care to admit π Next up on the reading list is What Alice Forgot…
5. Here’s a tip for dealing with annoyingly green bananas: let them cozy up to some apples. The bananas in the picture [below] were straight up neon green yesterday, and while they’re still nowhere near the point where I’d consider eating them, they’re getting there a lot faster than they would be without the apples. Apparently it works even better if you stuff them both in a paper bag, but I haven’t had any of those since I used to make hand puppets out of them when I was a kid…
6. Speaking of being a little kid… why do I look all of 12 years old in this picture? And what kind of person takes pictures of people while they’re sleeping?!?! #creepers. At least I wasn’t drooling π
7. Those days where you’re craving something but you can’t quite figure out what it is, so you keep shovelling random foods in your face all day hoping to strike gold? The answer is almost always some kind of chocolate smoothie. You’re welcome.
8. So I’m still not back to chewing gum, which is weird considering I probably spent 32 of the 40 days of Lent counting down until I’d be able to again. I guess I just fell out of the habit and realized that I don’t really need it? Or maybe that would explain #7…
9. Why do these posts always end up wordier than I want them to be?
10. On that note… Bye! (Have a good one!) π
No questionsβ¦ just tell me whatever comes to your mind! π

Katie @ Talk Less, Say More
I bought some flowers for a friend’s mom this week who accepted packages for me while on the road but made sure to pick up some extras for me as well. They just spruce up the RV so nicely. π
Suzy
“What Alice Forgot” is on my list to read next!
Alanna @ Madeleines & Marathons
I love that treadmill video, except my first thought was that if I were to attempt such a thing I would totally break my neck! I can understand not wanting to track your runs. It can certainly be tedious getting everything all hooked up before a run. Sometimes you just wanna run and not worry about pace, distance or anything really.
Lesley
I just felt like running is my mindset right now too. I’ve had to back track a little bit with knocks and stuff but I just want to run without any pressure. The competitive side of me wants to sign up for races, but I’m taking my time.
Alyssa @ Renaissancerunnergirl
Beautiful flowers (in my favorite color!) And as for the running, I’m right there with you – now that I’ve been at it for two years, people keep asking what my new goal time or pace or race is, and I just say that I don’t have any except to keep being happy while I’m out on the trail!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I think that’s what matters the most! I have enough other stressful things to deal with — no use in adding something else to the list!
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job
I bought myself flowers this week bc whenever the weather starts to warm up I add them to my weekly shopping list. They make me happy and I love to have them around the house!
I stopped chewing gum too for awhile and then I kind of fell out of the habit. I used to have it every day, but now it’s a rare occurrence. Weird.
Annette@FitnessPerks
Those flowers are gorgeous! I want to dance on a TM like that one day π
Julie @ Running in a Skirt
Sometimes running just to run is the best! I wish could do the treadmill jig like that.
Melanie
I wish I could look that good on a treadmill…I hate even running on one in front of a mirror. It messes me up! Congrats on your running! It doesn’t matter what other people are doing…everyone had to start somewhere. π You got it!
Shashi at RunninSrilankan
I saw that Carson Dean chap on Ellen – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jk2BmLPauwI way way cool! And congrats on keeping on running, lady! And congrats of breaking the gum chewing habit! I need to try doing it next Lent for sure!
Tiff
Run Spoons, Ruuuuun! haha That is my #1 favorite movie of all time. π
And yeah, I would totally be on the treadmill all.the.time. if I had moves like that. I’d just like to do it some time to see the looks on the faces of folks at the gym.
Gretchen | Gretchruns
I know what you mean about the gum…I gave up pop for Lent and I have no desire to drink it at all now. I think it’s because the 40 days got it out of my system and now I don’t crave it. I’ll take that as a positive and will try to stop for good π Thanks for hosting, as always!! π
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
That’s awesome, Gretchen! Giving up pop is actually one of the best things you can do for your health π
Daisy @ Fit Wanderlust Runner
Those flowers are gorgeous! I used to get roses from my back yard to decorate my house. I love fresh flowers especially vibrant bouquets. if I could do a treadmill workout like that I would be uploading it on YouTube stat! He got to go on Ellen whi check I am totally envious of. π
Emily @My Healthyish Life
I saw that treadmill dance last week and loved it! I have a history of falling off the treadmill (damn shoelaces) so I’d be petrified to try anything like that haha. My parents sometimes take pictures of me sleeping in random places…I tend to sleep a lot π
Debbie
I never knew about the apple trick! I can’t believe you’re still getting winter weather. Will it ever give up?
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Knowing Alberta? Possibly in June π
Sabrina @NutritiouslySweet
Ugh yes! Where is spring π I love having fresh flowers in the house, makes me feel a lot better and brightens any room! π
AJ @ NutriFitMama
The flowers are pretty! I love lilies- they smell so good. That chocolate smoothie looks good too. I haven’t tried the bananas and apples in a bag thing, but I always keep mine with my apples anyways and they ripen in a decent amount of time usually. Have a great day!
Kaila at Healthy Helper Blog
Hey girl, the whole back-link issue happened again with my link! Sorry about that! Not sure what’s going on!
Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious
Who took the pic of you? Once I had a birthday party at my house, I fell asleep and some of the guys drew lipstick on my face and took pictures. Mouth open, drooling, the works!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
It was one of my [creeper] friends! And we actually used to do stuff like that when we were younger, but [thankfully] we seem to have matured… a little π
Sam @ The Running Graduate
Those flowers are so pretty! I should try the same thing. I wore a spring dress yesterday because we had the slightest hint of sun, but it started snowing last night so I don’t think it worked. Mother Nature is being so cruel this year!
Heather @Fit n Cookies
Those flowers are gorgeous! I think, maybe, spring is appearing?! I’m not sure. One day it snows and the next it’s nice out. Mother Nature needs to get her act together, ha. I did hear the trick about brown paper bags but it doesn’t always work for me! The life shelf of a perfect banana is far too short.
Susie @ SuzLyfe
Right now I actually can’t see the building across from us because there is so much fog and I can hear the precipitation against our window. Blarg. Stargazer lilies used to be my absolute favorite flower. Still one of them, to be sure. Asiatic lillies are just so incredible. Have a great day!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Is it weird that I’m kind of jealous you got that much fog? I find foggy days so cozy and mysterious, and we don’t get nearly enough of them over here!
Angie @ LoveTheRunning
That’s a great way to run! Keep it fun and enjoyable – what’s the point otherwise? Sometimes I watch my pace, sometimes I just run for a set duration without caring how far. It’s good to mix it up.
Stephanie @ My Freckled Life
LOVED The Husband’s Secret! I haven’t read What Alice Forgot yet, but I’ve heard excellent things. I actually just finished Big Little Lies (her newest one) and personally liked it even better than The Husband’s Secret! It was one of those books where I would be sitting in bed at 11pm still reading, and when my husband tried to turn off the light I legit yelled “BUT I NEED TO KNOW WHO DID IT!!!!” Of course she doesnt tell you until like 10 pages until the end!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I love books that leave me sleep deprived! I’ll definitely be picking up Big Little Lies when I finish this one π
Khushboo
Haha I saw that treadmill video a few days ago and it really cracked me up-working out never looked so fan! And I can 100% couch about that apples ripening up bananas quicker- even better is wrapping up the banks in newspapers and then storing it in a dark place. It works like a charm every time! And thank you for the suggestion on reading The Husband’s Secret – I downloaded it and read a quarter of it during my friend…definitely helped the time fly quicker!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
It’s good, eh?! I’m having a little trouble getting into What Alice Forgot as quickly, but I hear it picks it later on so I’m keeping at it.
Danielle @ Little Mama Big Life
Love that guy on the treadmill and wish I had half of his ability! Looks like way more fun than running on there!
Renee @ Bendiful Blog
First up I would just fall off that treadmill, I have zero coordination on one. I have a scar on my knee from the one time I feel off and tried to save myself….it wasn’t pretty LOL! Second your flowers are beautiful!! I wish mother nature would get the HINT it’s spring around here. I need it badly. Your hair is so shinny, I’m very jealous of that what’s your secret? And a chocolate smoothie is always in good taste Happy Thursday!
Brynn
I saw the treadmill dancer on Ellen this week, so amazing! It makes me want to try to dance too. That may be a bad idea, though.
Erin @ The Almond Eater
Must.try.banana trick! I get so mad when the only banana options are the store are super green. UGH. Oh and when I’m craving something, a smoothie almost always does the trick!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
#storyofmylife. I feel like I spent the entire winter battling with green bananas. Hopefully it won’t be that bad now that the weather is warming up!
Chelsea
We actually had a summer ish day yesterday and it was amazing!!
Totally didn’t know that banana trick. Will have to give it a try π
Happy Thursday!
Hollie
Ha there have been plenty of days I feel like I have no idea what I want to eat and then I keep eating until I figure it out.
We actually used to do that apple/banana trick as kids so I’m glad someone else knows about it.
meredith @ The Cookie ChRUNicles
remind me that I need to ask you if you got new running shoes yet. I feel like you would have told me but I will ask anyway lol. I always put my avocado near the bananas to help the avocado get ripe quicker – it works!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
π So. Uhm. Thanks for reminding me that I need to get new running shoes π
Miss Polkadot
The apple trick works … too well. That’s coming from me forgetting about that one banana I had stashed in my apple box and finding it at a very very overripe state. Woops.
On another note I hope I’ll be able to find these books in a library around here because I need new ones. Actually, I always do but that’s not a bad thing.
Michele @ paleorunningmomma
I’ve heard the banana trick but haven’t tried it, that’s pretty impressive so now I must! And good for you for the running! About to go out now and was thinking of bringing my watch but now I don’t want to, it really is nice to just not think about pace π
Arman @ thebigmansworld
…sorry for taking that photo. But on that note….#youngfacesunite?
I am doing that treadmill workout and if I fall off, I blame you.
GiselleR @ Diary of an ExSloth
Pics of the workout or it didn’t happen #fitnessblogger lol
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I second what Giselle said. I want photographic evidence.
Sara @ Lake Shore Runner
It feels like winter here too π Ugh I am so over it. I had no idea that putting your bananas next to apples in a fruit bowl helped ripen them. Good think I already do this! Happy Thursday π
