1. Before I get into the good stuff, there’s a very important issue that needs settling… What do you call these?
I know they’re mandarin oranges, but I’ve always called them Christmas oranges since they’re the most popular around this time of year. I thought it was a widely accepted name for them, but apparently not? I’ve had more than a handful of people give me funny looks when I told them that I love Christmas oranges…
2. At least there’s no debate over what to call these:
Chocolate cake loaf with chocolate glaze.
Freaking delicious pretty much sums it up nicely. I think I’ve been in a constant sugar coma for the past 3 days, and it looks like I’m in danger of falling into a permanent one because…
3. … Santa is trying to ruin my waistline was lovely to me this year:
I’ve wanted one of these for as long as I can remember, and I seriously can’t wait for all the cookies to be gone (which may or may not be why I’m eating so many), so that I can whip up something fresh. Any suggestions?
4. Remember how the only thing on my Christmas list was a pair of Tory Burch riding boots?
Squee! And this Kate Spade bag completely blew me away…
Suffice to say, I feel ridiculously blessed.
5. That being the case, I decided to forgo all Boxing Day shopping. It seemed a little ridiculous to go out and buy more stuff when I didn’t really need it. I did end up braving the mall, but it was only to see The Hobbit (which wasn’t as good as I’d hoped it would be) and visit the Apple store because…
6. My phone finally met its end…
If you remember, the front was a little beat up before…
… but there was no saving it this time – the whole back threatened to fall apart at any moment, and I was carrying it around in a Ziploc baggie to prevent glass shards from getting everywhere. It’s nice not having to worry about slicing my finger open, but I kind of miss the cracks on the front of my old one… they added character.
7. Speaking of old, lookit what I found while I was going through my room the other day…
I may or may not have squealed like a little girl when I discovered this little gem. I’ll be honest here – I’m kind of wondering [and hoping] that it still works. Remember back when digital pets were all the rage?
8. They definitely don’t replace real pets though. Kaiah says hi.
9. I saw this on Lindsay’s blog the other day and got such a kick out of it that I couldn’t help but share… You guys can just call me Perky Angel-Pants from now on.
10. I’m almost afraid to admit this, but… I’m kind of happy that Christmas is over 😯 Don’t hate me! I usually experience a hefty dose of post-Christmas blues, but this year I’m just really looking forward to getting back into my normal routine. And speaking of which, it’s time for work!
. – . – . – .
What’s your elf name?
What was your favorite Christmas present this year?
Do you have post-Christmas blues? Or are you happy it’s all over?
Did you have a Tamagotchi? I think these guys were circa late 90’s? The first time I ‘raised’ mine, I got the best pet, but after that I started neglecting it so I only got the crappy ones.
Angela @ Health's Angel
Just found your blog!
Your Christmas gifts are gorgeous. Those boots and that bag, wow! I got a few kitchen gadgets from Santa as well and I can’t wait to try them out. The holidays are always fun but I’m ready to get back into my normal routine. My body is telling me enough with the loads of sugar and alcohol for awhile, haha.
Kaity @ kaityscooking
Ahhh ur gonna love your kitchen aid I got mine for my bday and find myself always askin friends if I could make them desserts lol my best gift was my vitamix I’m obsessed with it now! I’m ad Xmas is over I ate only cookies this past wk n am excited to get back to. Normal eating too !
Tessa @ Amazing Asset
I actually call them clemetines and have never even heard of Christmas oranges before…where have I been? Hrmm well anyway you call them, they are flippen delicious and great during this time of the year…. especially because berries and such are gross right now
Um so yeah, I am going to come over to your house and steal those boots. That’s okay right 😉 Seriously though, I love them, so cute and they go with anything! Sorry to hear about your phone though 🙁 time for a new one fooo shooo
Tessa @ Amazing Asset
OH! and my elf name is Sugar Plum Monkey-Buns! Try not to be too jealous hehe
Matt @ The Athlete's Plate
Time for an iPhone 5!
Rachel @ Eat, Learn, Discover!
I believe Christmas oranges are satsumas – and I don’t even celebrate (Jewish), but they are indeed delicious! As much as I love the Christmas/holiday season, I’m usually more than happy that it’s over – plus, that means my birthday is only weeks away!
I love post-holiday shopping, it’s the best time for sales on winter things. Especially since I don’t get presents, it’s a great time to scope out some end-of-year or birthday splurges 🙂
Olivia @ Life As Liv
Hi, I’m Elfie Plum-Pants, nice to meet you! That Kate Spade bag is so. gorgeous. You are definitely one blessed girl. 🙂
Jess(ica)
Well I guess from now on you can call me Puddin’ Pickle Pants…or Jess will still work fine as well 😉
I always call those Clementines. But Christmas oranges is cute 🙂
My favorite Christmas present I haven’t gotten just yet, as it’s coming from my boyfriend and he’s out of town with his family for the holidays. But I’m sure gonna love it when I do get it: it’s a panini press, for all those wonderful sandwiches I’ll be making to celebrate my steps recovery. So yay me.
Omg…I had a Tamagotchi…and a Giga Pet…and a Nano baby…and a BFF pet (I don’t think many people remember those, they were rare, but I had one). Suffice to say, I bought into the craze that were the virtual companion toys. lol
Those boots are to die for. Seriously. Me and my twin sister have a mild obsession with boots. It’s kinda ridiculous how many we’ve got.
The thing that I don’t like about Christmas, is Christmas actually getting here, if that makes any sense. I’m the most holly jolly person alive in the days leading up to it, but on Christmas, my Christmas spirit begins to get smaller and smaller. I hate when it’s over, and I get sad that I have to wait so long before the season comes around again.
Miss Polkadot
Elvis Angel-Pants? Not sure how I like it 😀 …
Ooooh, clementines! Funny how you mention them because we hardly had them when I was a child for no specific reason and I’ve just started fancying them this very season. Do they make anybody else think of the song “Oh my darling, Clementine”?!
I never had a Tamagotchi – nor a Furby which I fancied for a while when they were “cool” – because my parents didn’t allow a lot of things like that. But we had a lot of pets all throughout our childhood. In the end nothing could ever replace the cuddliness, ability to listen to your problems and love a real companion animal can give you. Plus, how cute could a plastic toy be compared to my guinea pig Flipper or your Kaiah? She’s such a cutie – don’t hesitate to post more pictures of her :). How old is she?
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Awwr you have a guinea pig? So cute! And Kaiah is 9, although she still acts like she’s a puppy!
clemmy
Whoa, nice gifts girl!!!
i had a tamagotchi too… ohmygod, i loved that thing. but i left it at home when i went to school one day and my mum couldnt figure out how to feed/play.care for it, so when it KEPT beeping she got so mad that she hid it in the laundry cupboard and i didnt find it till… well… lets just say, it was too late! 🙁
it taught me how to care for something tho, cos i think pretty soon after that i bought a hamster (mum agreed, on the condition that it didnt beep!!!)
Glad you had a good christmas… roll on New Years!
Nicole
Buddy Angel-Pants? Meh, the January part saved me I guess! 😉
And while I’m sad that the whole gift-giving experience ends so quickly, I’m definitely happy to get back into a routine. As much as I hate to admit it, a kink in my exercise routine and far too many sweets lying around the house is not exactly my favorite thing anymore… I was a good sport for the past couple days, but considering I’m one who can’t say no to good food, I’m rather relieved that I won’t be so tempted to devour whole cakes anymore 😀
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Another January baby? Squee! When’s your birthday?
Nicole
Haha, January 13! I used to brag about sharing Orlando Bloom’s birthday, but…. not so much anymore, haha.
Lisa
Christmas oranges!!! I think we went over this one;) haha, me and you call them Christmas oranges. It’s a must. Your boots are kind of the greatest things ever! I love them so much! Tamagochi! I was SO obsessed over those, I had like 5 at a time. I forgot about those guys. Kaiah is the cutest! Oh my, what type of dog is she?
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
We actually have no idea what she is. She’s some kind of mixie that we got at the shelter when she was just a puppy. They said shepherd cross, but we’re thinking that she probably has some elkhound in her, as well as some border collie. Out of a litter of 5 pups, one other looked liked Kaiah, and the other three were black and white.
Aimee
Funny- I’ve always called those oranges clementines! Never heard f Christmas oranges!
Love your boots – I got the brown Frye boots I’ve been wanting for years!
Although the holidays were fun I’m happy getting back to my normal routine!
Caitlin
My elf name is bubbles pickle pants…i’m sitting outside target right now dying of laughter because of this hahaha…and i wantttttt your kitchen aid!! Hoping to talk the boy into that for our first big kitchen purchase sooner rather than later!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Ooo good luck with the negotiations! Offer to make lots of cookies!
Caitlin
I like the way you think 😉
Lucie
Love that Kate spade bag, so darn pretty!!! And I can’t wait for your self-made cookies coming up on the blog. I got new black pumps and new runners from asics for xmas. Love shoes 🙂 aaaah, Tamagotchi! I think it was mod 90’s, mine died, I was too lazy. What’s that with the Elf names? Never heard of it….slow Swiss again 🙂
lindsay
okay ms perky pants, those are clementines, right? and those digital pets!! AHHHHHH, i remember those. I think i need one again. LOL!
Khushboo
Just call me Cookie Toe-Bells – haha LOVE it…thanks for the laugh! I also really love your boots- super hot! If Tory Burch boots are anything like their pumps, you’re in for some serious comfort! Although we didn’t really do Christmas gifts this year, I did buy myself one which I love – a Michael Kors bag…can’t wait to start using it! Hope you had a great day at work! As sad as I am that the festivities are coming to an end, I sure am excited about 2013 starting!
Oh and I call those oranges “clementines”…chances are I am wrong ha!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
!!! An MK bag! Squee! I can’t even tell you how much time I spent in Michael Kors stores when I was in Vegas – I seriously love his bags. Which one did you get?!
Khushboo

What you think? 🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Love that one! And love that you went with that color 😀
andrea
Omg. I loved my little Tamagotchi 🙂
xoxo Perky Sugarplum 🙂
Ashley @ AlmostVegGirlie
Haha I guess I’m Perky Superplum! I actually squealed a little bit too when I saw the picture of your Tamagotchi because I totally had one too and I wonder if I still have mine…
I’m definitely sad that Christmas is over. I was sick during the holiday which made it feel a lot less like Christmas, but now that I’m feeling better I’m planning on doing a whole lot of baking that I was planning to do earlier–bring on the belated sugar coma!
Molly@This Life Is Sparkling
I call them “cuties” but they’re technically clementines. I love them! And I kinda feel the same way about Christmas being over. I’m ready to back into routine and eat less sugar which seems to be popping up every where I turn 😉
Liz (formerly VeggieGirl)
1.) I call those clementines – sweet little oranges 😀
2.) AWESOME gifts! Especially love the Tory Burch boots especially (I’ve been wearing the same snow boots for 5 years and they’re Tory Burch – such a great brand).
3.) Tamagotchis!!!! Loved those digital pets back in the day, hahaha.
4.) My Elf Name is Tinker McJingles (or Squeezy McJingles, if I go by Elizabeth). That is hilarious.
Meghan @ After the Ivy League
Your Christmas gifts look so amazing! Definitely blessed 🙂 I’ve wanted a Kitchen Aid mixer too for the longest time, but am waiting patiently until I have a “real” kitchen in a “real” house. Who knows how long that will be. And I agree, I had a case of the post-Christmas blues yesterday, but today I’m ready to get back to my normal routine. Kind of comforting in a way.
Danielle @ Clean Food Creative Fitness
I call them clementines but I like the name Christmas oranges 😉 I love that Kate Spade bag you got too. Such a great gift!
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin
I’m in a sugar coma too – we have tins full of homemade cookies on our counter so I’ve been snacking on them non-stop for the past few days. 😛
And that’s awesome that you got a stand mixer for Christmas! I bet you’re going to be making lots of delicious things with it. 😀 One of my favourite gifts that I received was a Cuisinart 12 cup food processor. I can’t wait to make my own almond butter with it!
I’m a bit sad that Christmas is over… I miss the magic of the holidays already! Also now that Christmas is over, it means my internship and masters application deadlines are approaching. Eek!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Eek! Good luck with your app’s, girl! I know the whole process can be kind of rough, but try not to stress too much!
Alex @ therunwithin
dude that mixer!! oh wow a foodie girls heaven. the boots are amazing as well, you can’t go wrong with that company. I call them clementines, we always get one of those with a quarter in our stockings. a strange tradition but done every year.
Sarah (Shh...Fit Happens)
I totally had post Christmas blues yesterday! I also call them clementines! From: Elvis Sugar Socks 🙂 That was so cute and fun!
Rachel
I call them clementines haha maybe I’m wrong though lol either way, they’re delicious! omg those boots are gorgeous!! I need a new pair of boots, but figure I should stop spending money for a little bit to catch up on what I spent over Christmas 😉 haha
Madi
I call those orange things Clementines! Or cuties…because they are SODARNCUTE!
Hayley @ Running on Pumpkin
I call those oranges “cuties”! That’s what it says on these boxes of them at the store. I’ve been in a sugar coma for the past week as well. I had vegetables yesterday and felt weird because I can’t remember the last time I had them in abundance. Um…THOSE BOOTS. Gorgeous. I love Tory Burch everything and I think those boots are stunning. I used to love those little digital pets. Now those would be seen as ancient to little kids with their extremely high tech stuff.
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl
Hahaha…my elf name is Tootsie Plum-Pants!! Thanks for the laugh!
In regards to #1…I call them Cuties! (the brand I buy) or mandarin oranges. I prefer Cuties though because it is more fun to say and, well…cute! 🙂
It looks like somebody is going to be very stylish after opening her Christmas gifts this year ;).
Suzanne @ Fit Minded Mom
My elf name is Elvis Monkey-Buns :-).
I have the same exact mixer that I got a couple years ago and I am in love with it. It makes baking SO much easier!!
AS for the oranges, I call them clementines or cuties. I have never heard them called Christmas oranges but I get it…especially since we used to get them in our stockings as kids!!
The boots are beautiful!! You were treated VERY nicely!!
Sara@fitcupcaker
I also got the exact same kitchenaid mixer!!
Sara@fitcupcaker
I put this elf name on a previous post too. I’m Elvis sparkley toes!! I just call them tangerines or Clementine but I like Christmas oranges better!
Nicky
Awh bless! I’ve never heard anyone call them a Christmas orange but that’s cute!! It depends whether it has seeds in or not, if they don’t have any then it’s a satsuma otherwise it’s a tangerine 😉
Looks like you got some great presents!! Love the boots and bag – very much my style too!! I was very spoilt this year with alsorts from a kindle HD fire to a juicer to loads of clothes and jewellery…I didn’t get one thing that I didn’t like! 🙂
I’m definitely happy that Christmas is over, despite how much I do love the day but the whole build up to it was getting a bit much with everyone going crazy in the shops and I do like my routine. Although with my birthday and New Year coming up it doesn’t last long at the moment until it’s all FULLY over!!
Eeeee I used to LOVE my tamagotchi!! Ahh the good old days..I think I had a chick or something? It’s safe to say it did die a few times…oopsss!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
You deserve to be spoiled, girlie 😛 And when’s your birthday!? Mine is coming up soon as well, and I definitely know what you mean about it not being FULLY over until all the birthday festivities are done.
Sarah @PickyRunner
I won’t lie… I made my mom take my digipet to work with her when I was at school so it wouldn’t die… I miss that thing! I wonder if I still have them.
Those Tory Burch boots are SO NICE!!! Oh my gosh I’m practically drooling over them. You weren’t kidding, you made out well this Christmas 🙂
Alexandra
I’ve never heard of them being called Christmas oranges! I just thought they were tangerines haha!! I like Christmas oranges much better though 😉
AHH I love that elf name thingy too! How fun! I’m Perky Floppy Feet hahaha 😉
PS– Can I come give Kaiah a hug? She just looks SO FLUFFY and cuddly!! <3
Chelsie S
Aw man. I got the loser elf name … Bubbles Plum-Pants. 🙁
Just going to go play in the lame corner by myself now. 😉
I know you had a fabulous time. Can’t wait to see how you put the mixer to good use!!
whiness
“Christmas orange” is quite a good name, mandarin oranges always remind me of Christmas and winter 🙂
Well, now my name is Porky Monkey-Buns. Nice, hahah 😛
I still didn’t get gifts from my parents & grandparents because they’re currently far aways from me. But my friends managed to get me before Christmas some beautiful things that made me full of hapiness, for example bed-warmer, books and oh, coffee <3 I must confess I'm addicted to coffee.
And well, I'm extremely happy it's over! I unfortunately had to spent Christmas without my family and it was nothing I would like to repeat!
Take care :3 Your dog is sooo cute!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Awwr I’m sorry to hear that you had so spend Christmas away from your family – I hope that some time with friends made things at least a little more bearable.
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
Elvis Sparkly-Toes….I love it. :-p
I’m a little happy to get back to routine too! As nice as Christmas is, I enjoy my routine for a reason. So cool that you got a stand mixer! I know you’ll be making up some awesome recipes with it.
lisa fine
I’m Tinker Toe-Bells. Haha.
It’s so different to see your posts up in the morning, but it’s good. I’m curious – have you seen a difference in your stats now that you’re posting in the morning? I’ve been an afternoon poster a lot lately, and keep thinking that I should get posts ready for the next morning instead…
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Haven’t seen a difference in stats, but they’ve been off anyways with the holidays so it’s too early to tell. I really do prefer posting in the mornings, though… it just works better with my schedule. You can always give it a try and see if you like it!
Sara @my less serious life
haha and you can call me Elivs McJingles! amanda that mixer is beautiful – i have one (not quite as nice as your new beauty), but it make baking so much more efficient and enjoyable. i hope to see a lot of new muffin recipes up on your blog! 🙂 merry christmas.
