1. First and foremost, a huge congrats to both Katie and Courtney, who both recently announced that they’ll be welcoming tiny bundles of joy in the coming year. So, so happy for them!
2. Remember how I said I was going to bake snickerdoodles last night? Yeeeaaah, it didn’t happen – but these did…
What can I say? I’m a complete sucker for chocolate, but the snickerdoodles craving is still going pretty strong, so I’m thinking that those will definitely be next on my list.
3. Speaking of lists, guess who knocked a few people off their hit Christmas list!
4. I don’t know what came over me, but this morning I got hit with the random but brilliant idea of doing a somersault – it had been years since I had attempted one, and I guess I was curious if I still had it in me. Turns out I don’t. Not only did I possibly almost break my neck, but I ended up having to sit on the floor for a minute or two trying to collect my bearings after rolling straight into a wall. Nice, Amanda… real nice.
5. Another recent fail? Not paying close enough attention to food labels. I know I’ve been pretty subtle about it, but I have a pretty serious addiction to Kashi Cinnamon Harvest. I was in the store the other day and saw that Kashi cereals were on sale, so I decided to pick up a few extra boxes – can never have too many boxes lying around, right? Wrong. Turns out I wasn’t paying enough attention and I ended up picking up the wrong kind…
Let me tell you, there’s a huge difference between the two, and no, adding cinnamon just doesn’t cut it.
6. While we’re on the topic of cinnamon, is it strange that I get actual cravings for the stuff? A lot of the time, I’ll make meal choices based on what I can add cinnamon to, and sometimes I’ll even try adding cinnamon to the most random things just because I need a fix. Wow. That sounds a lot less crazy in my head…
7. It’s also kind of crazy how long I’ve been listening to this song on repeat. Ob.sessed.
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eu-xFvLaE68&w=560&h=315]
8. I’m thinking about trying out a new blogging schedule and switching to posting in the mornings rather than the evenings. I’ll probably give it a shot next week and see how things go, so I hope you guys won’t mind the switched up posting times.
9. Speaking of time, who the heck can’t spare the five seconds it takes to collect their crap and throw it in the trash on their way out? Like seriously? And don’t even get me started on people who litter… *eye twitch*…
10. On a happier note, please tell me you guys have seen the 25 Funniest AutoCorrects of 2012. If you’re not easily offended, and not in some place where people are going to seriously consider committing you for laughing like a crazy person, I highly recommend that you check it out. I about died laughing the first time I went through it… I’m talking sore abs, tears streaming down my face, unable to breathe type laughing. Go. Go now!
11. Hi! Happy Thursday!
. – . – . – .
Can you do somersaults and cartwheels?
Ever get random cravings for certain herbs/spices?
What songs have you been loving lately?
Is the world going to end tomorrow?
Lisa
I’m trying to get my sister to teach me how to do handstands and walkovers, since she’s a cheerleader and they always look like so much fun to do hah. They freak me out though! I’m a cinnamon-a-holic too! It’s insane how I crave it and I can actually use it on anything!! Mmmm…I read those auto corrects and was just sitting by myself laughing my head off, feeling really cool obviously. SO dang funny!
Allison @ Life's a Bowl
Haha you are hilarious and beautiful, hi hi- gorgeous picture girl! Ryan sent me the link to those autocorrects this morning and I couldn’t stop laughing 😛 He proposed some McDonkadonk or chicken… for dinner tonight 😉 I hope you have an fab Friday!
P.S. If it’s strange to crave cinnamon we’re both doomed… Thank goodness for Costco’s bulk buying, you betcha I get my cinnamon stash there!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table
You crack me up! Now I want to try a somersault… and a cartwheel. I did a flip off the lat pulldown bar the my gym a few weeks ago. It was jut me and my trainer late at night… he was like WFT?! I tried to get him to video tape it, but he refused. something about a bad example… LOL!
Devon @ Health in Equilibrium
I dump enormous amounts of cinnamon on top of a lot of my food. Most people would gag, but I know you get it 😉 Nice work on the somersault too. Sometimes I like to see whether or not I can still do a cartwheel and then realize that I need to have a lot of open space because my aim is not good.
Molly@This Life Is Sparkling
I used to take gymnastic and was a cheerleader for a few years, so I had a few tumbling skills, but I haven’t tried any in about three or four years. I bet if I tried to do a cartwheel I’d look like a complete fool. And I love cinnamon too. I add it to so much.
And cookie baking is the best!
Kat
Snickerdoodles sounds seriously yummy right now. I love the cinnamon and sugar on top of them 🙂
And I looove that Imagine Dragons song!! I actually knew of it before the album became popular because it was on a commercial for a show. I looked it up and instantly downloaded it.
And you sure know how to shop lady! Holy smokes!
Megan @ runningonjava
Radioactive is such a great song! Imagine Dragons is an awesome band – keep listening! I can’t stand people who don’t pick up their trash, either. Ooooh a new blogging schedule? I’m okay with it! Even though it wouldn’t effect me much due to our rather large time difference 🙂
Olivia @ Life As Liv
Yay for your shopping success! I went yesterday and checked those final gifts off my list, thank the lord. It’s a huge weight off my shoulders and now I can just enjoy my family. PS, you’re so pretty! I love that picture of you. 🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Aww, thanks hun <3
Meghan @ After the Ivy League
Haha! I haven’t attempted a somersault in quite some time also, but I used to be pretty damn good at them back when I was 11. So I imagine I’d still be just as awesome. Don’t really want to test that theory though…and thanks for the link up to those autocorrects. Had me cracking up in the office this morning! 🙂 Oh and I completely agree about the Starbucks thing, drives me nuts when people are that lazy and inconsiderate. It takes approximately 10 seconds of effort to throw your stuff away, just do it!
lucie
Oh. my. God. I just read the autocorrects. I am dying.
Tiff @ Love Sweat and Beers
Mmmmm, cookies! Want!
People who can’t throw away their trash make me so mad. It’s so much more than just making a mess. It’s like telling other people you think you’re better than the staff or the other people waiting to use the table. So selfish!
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin
Mmm you can’t go wrong with chocolate chip cookies! I like snickerdoodles, but chocolate chip will always be my favourite.
Hahaha your story about the somersault made me laugh so hard! I actually can’t remember the last time I did a somersault or cartwheel either… I used to be pretty good at cartwheels though because I took gymnastics. It’s been years since then though!
sara @ fitcupcaker
Omg ive totally been craving cinnamon lately. Isnt it weird How i crave almond milk too. I Just found your blog and i love it!
lucie
I tried adding cinnamon to eggs the other day. It’s strange, but really good!! 🙂 Ah, Cartwheel. Thing is, that it doesn’t look like a cartwheel when I do it, more like a injured spider shortly before death. The cookies look delicious!!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Haha! Injured spider about to die… Oh girl, that cracked me up big time – that’s probably exactly what I’d look like too.
Jessie
Ha Ha, bummer about both the failed cart-wheel & cereal. I can’t even imagine how crazy you must be going w/o your beloved kashi cereal. You poor poor thing. Thank goodness for those cookies to help wipe away your sorrow =)
Sara @my less serious life
buying the wrong cereal like that sounds tragic! can you add cinnamon and sweetener to them like agave? or maybe just head back to the store. cereal is a vital part of life for sure!!!
Khushboo
Wait a sec, it’s NOT normal to crave cinnamon? Whoops! I sometimes just eat it straight up on a spoon to get my fix! Tell me you add it to your Starbucks cappuccinos? Froth + cinnamon = heaven! Also as you’re a chocolate fan, you NEED to try the Green & Black Mayan variety (if you haven’t already)- dark chocolate with cinnamon kinda rocks! And just for the record, it’s Friday morning in London right now and the world is still up and running….here’s hoping I haven’t spoken too soon ;)!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Chocolate and coffee recommendations? Have I told you lately that I love you? 😀
Sara @ Nourish and Flourish
I completely understand the spice craving issue! However, in my case, the addiction is with garlic rather than cinnamon (although I adore cinnamon, too). As you already know, I occasionally carry a garlic shaker in my handbag, just *in case* I find myself eating at Whole Foods or another take-out type place. If whatever I’m eating is savory, then it automatically tastes better with garlic. 😀 The only problem with this habit? When the cap slips off while you’re walking, you’re left with quite a stinky mess in your handbag. Sigh. :-p
Huge props to you for attempting that somersault. I hadn’t realized it until I read this post, but it’s been *years* since I’ve done anything even remotely gymnastics related. Now I kinda want to try… 😉
I’m off to check out those 25 auto-corrects! <3
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Hehe, I remember reading about your garlic fiasco… Have you managed to get the smell out yet?
Laura Agar Wilson (@lauraagarwilson)
Those cookies look gooooddd! I just have Christmas songs going round my head quite a lot at the moment, Fairytale of New York being a big one! I can’t do any kind of gymnastics, even when I was a child I just couldn’t do that stuff 🙁
Missy
OH…hello, former gymnast and cheerleader here and never have I ever been more depressed to realize I can’t do that no more…however, if I decide I want to? Anything is possible with work. Just not natural like it used to be…( not yet).
Also…me thinks you may get creative with the cereal mistake…if you’re feeling randy for cooking…blend it up in a food processor and use it to “coat” …well anything…fried or faux fried….zucchini? onions? potato fritters? you get it,
and …cinnamon in ALL the things. LOL.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
!! Coating things!! Missy, you’re a genius. I think that’s what I’m going to end up doing… in addition to practicing my somersaults because it’s kind of depressing that I can’t do them anymore…
Shelly
cartwheels, no; somersaults, yes – and backwards too!
Suzanne @ Fit Minded Mom
Oh my goodness, I literally have tears running down my face right now laughing at some of the auto corrects. Thank you so much because I NEEDED to laugh like that tonight. Ahhhh, good stuff!!
Kaitlin
I just wanted to comment because I am IN TEARS over that hilarious link!! Hahahaha that made my night. Always enjoy reading your blog 🙂
Brittany @ GOtheXtraMile
Who isn’t a sucker for chocolate? Can I have a cookie? ;D I just laughed out loud at the somersault… now you make me want to try one. I was a cheerleader practically my whole life, so I think I could still do one! The world is not going to end ! haha
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl
I LOVE cinnamon! It is especially good on whole wheat toast that has been smothered in peanut butter or almond butter. I also love adding pumpkin pie seasoning to my toast, too! 🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Have you ever tried putting coconut butter/oil on toast and then sprinkling it with cinnamon? Seriously so darned good.
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl
I have not tried that, but I recently jumped on the coconut oil bandwagon so I will definitely have to try that!
Sam
Hi! OMG, that 25 funniest autocorrects had me in tears it was so funny. Here I am up at 2 am after having a panic, and I read this. Off to bed again happy now, thank you!!
On buying the wrong cereal – I have done that so many times. Just this week I meant to buy Bramley apples for cooking and ended up with a different variety. No idea how. Le sigh. Needless to say my hazelnut and apple cake did not turn out quite the way I wanted!
Alyssa
My boyfriend and I read the Autocorrect website last night and we were just dying!! SO FUNNY! Oh, how I hate when I get the wrong thing at the grocery store… it seriously puts me in a bad mood… I’ve never heard that song before but it is great, downloading it now! One song that I can always listen to is Never Going Back Again by Fleetwood Mac. It is just amazing. Summersaults and I have never gotten along. I can do a headstand but have never been able to do a good summersault… sigh. Fortunately, its not something I desire to do on a daily basis because if it was, I would have a lot of holes in my walls! Hope the world doesn’t end tomorrow, my life is just gettin’ good!!
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
I saw that auto correct thing this morning…I thought I was dying I was laughing so hard. God, that was too funny!
I did gymnastics when I was a kid, but it has been a VERY long time since I’ve attempted to do anything gymnastics-like. If I tried to do a cartwheel now, I’d probably pull something.
The world is not going to end tomorrow – when I was in Mexico last May, we did a tour of a Mayan village/ the ruins at Coba. The (Mayan) tour guide explained to us that it was a misinterpretations – tomorrow was fortold to be beginning of a new era in the Mayan religion, not the end of the world itself.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Awwr you mean that when midnight hits, I can’t eat all the cookies I baked without having to worry about the consequent stomach ache? Drat…
Caitlin
That is an absolutely gorgeous picture of you hun…and I just fell off the couch laughing at the auto corrects so thank you for causing me to break my bum….
Jess
Looking at those gifts, you must make some serious dough at the family business, girl! And you have some good taste in brands 🙂
Somersaults sound tempting right now! Cart wheels on the other hand…. uh, quite literally…. ha. No thanks! Used to be the cart wheel queen and when I tried one over the summer I couldn’t believe how weak my back was! Ugh!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
After my somersault fiasco, I’m basically terrified of even attempting a cartwheel. I got lucky the first time, but there’s no sense in tempting fate 😯
Hollie
LOL you are hilarious and doing the somersault is something I probably (I’m surprised I haven’t) would do. You really got some awesome gifts today and I’m a wee (or a lot) but jealous that I’m not on your list 😉 tee hee. Also the last photo of you is gorgeous!
Hayley @ Running on Pumpkin
Oh my goodness thank you for showing me that website I am seriously crying laughing over here. Hahahahaha made my evening.
Alex @ therunwithin
holy crap I love that song, how I never heard it before? teach me some of your music listening ways, I am always looking for new tips and tricks. I tend to not be good at the whole explore yourself thing. I like to steal off others, hehe. Somersaults, I give you credit. Those scared me when I was little and they still do now. I have an irrational fear of snapping my neck, no joke. I was a crazy child. Oh boy do I hate mistakes like those, you get the plain or yucky flavor instead of what you actually wanted. That is like when I get the kettle corn popcorn instead of butter. Total bad move.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I might have to try and pawn this cereal off on someone who’ll take it because I can’t see myself getting through another couple boxes… It makes my mornings so much less enjoyable 🙁
Shreya @ rushofendorphins
I can see your gift recipients with a big smile on their faces – those look like some great presents!
Recently I’ve been listening to Portishead’s Dummy on repeat. Can’t get enough!
Sarah @PickyRunner
Ahhh I would be so disappointed if I got the wrong cereal too! I love Kashi Cinnamon. Oh so delicious. But when the craving for chocolate hits, you can’t argue with that! I like posting in the mornings too. You just get used to writing them the night before 🙂
Brittany
I haven’t done a somersault OR a cartwheel in SO long. Looks like I’ve found my challenge for the evening. I am obsessed with this song too. Thank you for adding back to my obsession. I think I am addicted to cayenne. I put it on EVERYTHING. I started to use it so much I felt like I may be tearing up my esophagus. Oops. Time to take a break from the hot spices haha. I LOVE the idea of posting in the morning. That’s when I do the majority of my blog reading, so DOOO ITT!! No..the world is not going to end. If it does, I’ll eat my words while I eat platters of cookies in heaven.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Eep! Even the thought of eating that much cayenne pepper makes me cringe. I’m the biggest wimp when it comes to spicy food – it tears up my insides like nothing else!
Miss Polkadot
Haha, I’m probably the most unathletic person in the world. I was able to do backward rolls for, like, a day and somehow unlearned (?!) it overnight :D. Let’s not even talk about somersaults and cartwheels.
Nooo, the world isn’t ending tomorrow. I can say from experience because it’s the 21st already over here . Having come home late/early in the morning from a Girls’ Night at a friend’s I can say everything’s as calm and peaceful as any other day.
Cinnamon cravings are totally normal and yes, I started adding it to my go-to curry because I couldn’t get enough of it :).
Matt @ The Athlete's Plate
I hope the world doesn’t end tomorrow! I just bought a new car. LOL.
Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life
Aww, thanks Amanda! 🙂
Jo @ LivingMintGreen
Lol!! I recently tried to do a cartwheel and a headstand. Neither worked very well. I had to prop myself against a wall, and my cartwheel looked like a deconstructed/pathetic ninja move. Damn aging body…
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Right?! I think I’m going to have to start practicing ’till I get it because the thought is kind of depressing!
