Thursday already? Say it ain’t so!
1. Hello, hello from gorgeous Hawaii!
Just checking in to say goodbye and let you guys know that I’m not coming back home. Take care, friends!
2. Juuuuuuust kidding… but oh how I wish I wasn’t. I love it here. I’ll share more deets of the things we did when I do my recaps, but for now I can say that even just hanging out at the resort has been a blast…
3. And the weather — ohhhh the weather! Can you believe that I legit forgot what it feels like to be outside for longer than 2 minutes at a time? It’s been ~24ΒΊC/75ΒΊF, which is apparently a little cold by their standards, but it feels amazing to me. Although I’m still getting used to their strange way of measuring the weather π
4. Unfortunately, I’ll have to go home eventually — I can’t leave poor Douglas to fend for himself…
I left him hanging out in a bowl of water, so hopefully he survives the week. I’ve already killed him a handful of times, and while I’ve always managed to revive him, I don’t know how many lives he has and I’d rather not push my luck.
5. Remember how I was complaining about airports, layovers, and the 6.5 hour flight I had to get through to get over here? It didn’t actually end up being that bad. The flight was a bit bumpy, but I still managed to catch a few hours of sleep at some point… and they had these mini tablets for rent, so I grabbed one of those and watched The Hobbit 2 (~3 hrs) and Gravity (1.5 hours). 6.5 hours down in the blink of an eye. I’ll take it.
6. Speaking of movies, lookit what I came across while browsing through some magazines I found in the airplane seat pocket…
Did you know they’re turning Gone Girl into a movie? Add this to the list of books-to-movies that I need to see.
7. Also, did you know that…
… because I had no idea π― I can almost spell out my name, but seeing as there’s no ‘D,’ I’d have to mod it to Aman’ai or something… which doesn’t sound too bad, actually.
8. Guess what I remembered to bring! My cinnamon shaker π
I wasn’t about to make the same mistake again after leaving it at home on my last trip, and my classy 6 AM hotel room breakfasts have been so much better as a result.
9. Another thing that’s been so much better? My skin and hair. I knew Alberta air was dry, but I didn’t realize how dry until I came here… I’m seriously running out of reasons to go back home… Mom, take care of Douglas.
10. Once again, you guys are going to have to forgive me for not being the best linkup host this week. I always try to comment on all the posts that link up with ToL, but Iβm not sure how Iβll manage it this time around since I’m not spending a lot of time on the computer while I’m away. Iβll do my best to catch up when I get back, thoughβ¦ I miss you guys!

I am speechless. Those Hawaii photos are breath and obviously speech taking! I went to Hawaii once but it definitely did not look as phenomenal as what you’re experiencing right now! Go get off the computer and ENJOY π

All of your pictures have me really wishing that I was going somewhere warm for Spring Break! Today in the restrooms at school there was a girl telling her friend step by step how shew as going to get ready for vacation: 1. Go home. 2. Tan. 3. Pick out swimsuit. Then after that she kind of trailed off and repeated it a few times. Somehow she is going to end up in Floridia though. It must be the tan π
Gina @ Health, Love, and Chocolate
I’m thinking Aman’ai should be your blogger persona. Although if I’m being honest it looks veryyy similar to Arman’s name bahah. Funny story: I chose my dog’s name while I was in Hawaii the week before we got him by spinning the big tower thing that holds all the name keychains in the gift shops. Keep on enjoying yourself in beautiful Kauai!
Julie
Oh I’ve never been to Hawaii – the closest is this Hawaiian dressing I just bought – and had no idea that they had so few letters!
Lindsay
How about we just all move to Hawaii and start our own blogger village?!!! Peanut free
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Sounds like perfection to me π We can open up a Healthy Bites factory — I volunteer as taste-tester.
Morganne @ NutButterRunner
Soak up some extra sun for me! My kabocha tan isn’t quite working out π
Karey @ Nutty About Health
OMG, those pictures… seriously can’t believe how gorgeous it looks there! I am so envious right now… I need some sun & tropical weather in my life.
I didn’t know they were doing a movie of Gone Girl! I had started to read it, but it was a bit slow, IMO… so I started reading Grain Brain instead. LOL
Have a great time!!! π
Leigha @ Minougirl
First, please send some of that heat to Michigan… today it was 25F and I was outside in shorts! I’m so jealous of you right now. I’ve always wanted to go to Hawaii! I never knew that about the alphabet. I think my name would be Lei’ha. Maybe Leia!

Love Kauai so much! I hate to say that you’ll have the Hawaii bug all the time… And want to keep going back to explore the other islands too.
Hopefully you’ll get a chance to venture out of the resort area/lihue because Kauai has so much to offer. Do not miss going north (even if it’s rainy) and stopping at Hanalei Bay. Most amazing beach I’ve been to out of all the beaches I’ve been to on 3 Hawaiian islands.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Oh I definitely have the bug — I visited Oahu last year, and I’m planning on Maui for my next trip. We went south to Poipu and Waimea today, and we’re planning on heading north tomorrow. Hopefully the weather improves a bit — it’s been raining on and off all day.
Chelsea
I can not even begin to tell you how much I wish I was in Hawaii Right.Now. It looks stinkin amazing. I hope you have a FABULOUS time. And, I’m so glad you remembered to bring the cinnamon! π
Kelly @ Femme Fitale
Umm, love that the cinnamon shaker made the journey as well. Too funny!
Don’t worry. Douglas, like his name, looks to be very robust! I think he’ll recuperate just fine. I can totally understand not wanting to ever leave Hawaii, though!!! (At least until the frigid temperature leave you guys alone in AB). Enjoy!!! π
Jenn@ Mark My Miles!
So glad that you are having a great time in Hawaii. I’m sad I missed the link up this week but will attend the TOL party next week : )
Angie @ A Mother's Pace
Wow! Those pictures! It looks like you are having a wonderful trip. Enjoy your week!
Ellie@Fit for the soul
Oh girrllllll take it allllll in!!!!! I totally feel the same way…when I was in Kauai my hair and skin were just, AMAZING! And I know you don’t really like fish, but I gotta tell ya….the fish there is sooooo amazing and fresh! I’m kind of hoping you give it a try! (or two, or three) π Take care and say hello to the island for moi.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I tried some fish and just couldn’t do it… I’ll definitely say hello for you though π
Courtney @RunningforCupcakes
Oh my gosh those pictures are gorgeous!! I would never come back if I was you!!
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat
Ahhh, it’s SO beautiful! Those pics are totally make me crave warm sun and beaches! I definitely need to get there sometime in my life.
Have a wonderful time!!!
Ashley @ Brocblog
Ahh Im so jealous Ive never been to hawaii but now that I live on the west coast I’m just going to steal a boat and make a vacation out of it. Im sure it will work.
Gemma @ Retired Cardio Queen
1. Hawaii looks beautiful! So jealous – I have always wanted to go there. I figure I’ll go for my honeymoon π
2. I always kill plants. You are lucky you are able to revive them, I have never been so lucky lol.
3. Gone Girl is a great book and I have been anxiously awaiting the movie! I can’t wait till it comes out. I think it will make a great movie.
4. It is so amazing that you brought cinnamon with you! Such a great idea.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I’ve actually only been lucky with this plant. I think that’s why I keep it around — I don’t have to fuss over it too, too much.
Anna
Hawaii looks incredible. 75 F sounds so blissful right now! Have an amazing rest of the trip and if you decide to stay I’ll miss you but will definitely understand π
Mollie @Sprinkles of Life
Soooo jealous of your week in Hawaii! So ready to get outta these cold Midwest temps!! Although I do only have a few more days to wait. 10 to be exact until I’m flying to warm Punta Cana!
Nicole @ FruitnFitness
Um I’m kinda major jealous of your Hawaii time right now. The pictures are amazing! I can’t wait to read lots more Hawaii recaps. I’m currently looking out the window at snow. I’m so sick of the cold.
Megan @ The Skinny-Life
OMG – your pictures are incredible! I want to be in Hawaii with you! Enjoy your trip. The blog will be here when you get back.
Ashley @MilesonOats
I thank you for making my heart palpitate at 7:00 am after showing me that article. I LOVE GONE GIRL. Sistas a nut job, but that movie is going to be brilliant (hopefully). Meet me half way and let’s have a movie date shall we? I pick….California or Seattle. Because we are either near Disneyland or the Pike Place Market.
I read the weather detector and it made me smile, so thank you for sharing that with us. If it were in Arizona it would say something like, “If the sun is out, it’s hot as hell, and your feet are on fire.” I wish I could lay on the beach, although…I’d probably come back home looking like Akons sister. Oh well, bring on the coconuts! π
Lauren
I am so jealous right now I am biting my tongue not to FREAK OUT over the gorgeous weather you’re surrounded by right meow. π Poor Douglas. Hopefully we can pull out more lives… If not, I’m sure you can replace him easily like a goldfish! Glad you’re having a great time!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Right ‘meow?’ I sense some cattiness on your part π
Dixya @ Food, Pleasure, and Health
gorgeous pictures..very interesting stuff on Hawaii.
Rachel @ Undercover Diva: A Sitcom
I wanna go back to Hawai’i! Enjoy the rest of your trip π
Megan (The Lyons' Share)
Keep enjoying! The pictures look STUNNING!
Cassie
It looks so pretty there!
Katie @ Daily Cup of Kate
So jealous you are in Hawaii! We were in Maui exactly a year ago π And cannot wait to see Gone Girl– yay!!!
Heather Murphy
So jealous! It’s beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing the pictures, and I know you are having the best time! I wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to wait out the winter in Hawaii! When I retire I plan on living on an island during the winter months. One day..
Christine@ Apple of My Eye
ARGH I’m so jealous of you right now. When I was younger, I used to go to Maui every year with my sister and all of my cousins and we always had SUCH a great time. My parents own a few condos that we rent out on the Big Island as well, so hopefully I can get over there this summer sometime! The weather looks beautiful and I hope you’re enjoying those quiet mornings! Nothing better than a cup of coffee and some tropical birds singing π
Cassie
SO JEALOUS OF HAWAII. What airline did you fly – that’s so interesting you could rent a tablet to watch movies! I finally watched Pitch Perfect when I went to Hawaii last year.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I flew with Westjet. Their older planes have the screens in the back of the seats, but apparently they’re now making them without so that they can rent out tablets. So much better this way.
Davida @ The Healthy Maven
Ugh how can I hate and love you so much at the same time?!?!
Which Marriott are you staying at?! If it’s the same one I did then I know we are soulmates fo lyfe. Next time I see your face you better have a tan.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
We’re at the Kauai Marriott on Kalipaki Beach. And can you believe that after two days in the sun, I’ve only managed to go from Casper-esque to off-white? Ridiculous. Today and tomorrow is rain, so hopefully I’ll manage a few last-minute rays.
