Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!
1. The hardest thing about recapping any sort of trip or vacation is definitely going through all your pictures and trying to figure out what to include and what to say. I always tell myself that I won’t take a tonne of pictures since I’m up in the mountains so often anyways, and then I end up with about 200 that I have to sort through. But how do you not take a picture of this?
Or this?
Or this?
Or this?
Impossible. I probably could have done without this one, though π
2. I could also probably invest in a new set of riding gear since I basically look the same in every picture I post, but if it ain’t broke… Hi! π
3. And to avoid getting broke(n), try to obey the signs, no matter how tempted you might be to do otherwise…
4. Because they usually know what they’re talking about. Paradise, aptly named.
5. Speaking of signs… you know you’re in for an exciting time when you come across one of these at the head of your hiking trail…
It probably should have dissuaded us from going any further, buuuut there was a sizeable bunch of us and we were well equipped with bear spray. Luckily, no cougars. Nothing but gorgeous tranquil views.
6. We did come face to face with a bear, though! Buuuuuut it wasn’t really the kind I like to see π
There was also a lynx that ran across the highway a few car lengths in front of us, but I didn’t manage to pull out the phone fast enough to snap a picture, and since there’s no #proof, it didn’t happen π
7. This did, though. I cheated on Starbucks. I regret nothing.
8. … except for maybe not waiting an extra month to order my Erin Condren Life Planner* (referral link!). This has nothing to do with my weekend in the mountains, but I just wanted to let my fellow Canadian and international readers know that shipping prices have been reduced a tonne for the ECLP. So if you’ve been thinking about getting one but didn’t want to pay the crazy shipping fees, now is definitely a better time to do it! I know we’re already 1 month into 2015 , buuuuut there’s still a good 11 months to go, and this planner is seriously amazing. You can read my full review here, and click here* to save $10 off your first order if you decide that you want one too!
(*referral links! If you click on them, you’ll get $10 off your first purchase and I’ll get $10 credited to my account. Thanks for being awesome and showing me and Spoons your support!)
9. Alrighty, that’s it for me today. Happy Thursday to your friendly faces! Go and rock some socks off! π
10. Wait, wait. Nope. One more thing before I go. I just wanted to send a huge shoutout and thank you to everyone who sent me a Tweet, comment, or Instagram picture saying they made and loved the Vegan Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Oatmeal Cookies I posted yesterday. You guys really do know how to make a girl feel special. Alright… now bye!
No questionsβ¦ just tell me whatever comes to your mind! π

The pictures you post of the mountains are GORGEOUS! You’re making me want to brave the cold and go skiing/hiking asap π
AJ @ NutriFitMama
Ok, there is never a dull moment where you live- OMG avalanche danger? Wild animals?! Oh the adrenaline rush just walking around outside π And I am a huge fan of McDonald’s coffee. So good. It actually tastes better than Starbucks’ (regular) coffee BUT I love my Peppermint Mochas from Starbucks.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
And that’s saying nothing about the fact that, to control the avalanches in the ski areas, they regularly set off dynamite around the mountain so you’ll be skiing and hear an explosion go off in the distance. It’s a great time π
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job
Those pictures are amazing! I don’t even like the snow and cold, but I would brave it for those views π
Hope you had a great time!
Emma @ Life's A Runner
I definitely think that the banana picture was the best one of all. Is that horrible? Probably. But now I want to go skiing!
Alecia
Those pictures are GORGEOUS!! I’m in love with nature shots.
Sabrina @ Nutritiously Sweet
These pictures look gorgeous! Makes me miss Vermont, Massachusettes, is pretty too but just doesn’t have that magic as more North does π
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I’m going to assume that it’s at least a little bit warmer though… which isn’t a horrible thing!
cait @pieceofcait
wow those photos are breathtaking girl!!!!! makes me want to ski.. and I dont even like too π haha, happy thursday!!!
Suzy
We have cougar sightings at the kids’ elementary school at pick-up and drop-off every day! π Hehehe… I’m a brat.
Shashi at RunninSrilankan
It’s nice to see your adorable face – no matter what the “gear” around it might be!
Those ARE gorgeous views indeed! I am thinking if I came across that sign I might have chosen a cup of hot cocoa by the fireside with a side of your Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Oatmeal Cookies!
I haven’t ever eaten at McDonalds – but I have drunk there – and ooh – their coffee is just so darn good!
Sarah @ Sarah's on the Run
I’m not sure how I missed those cookies yesterday but I definitely know what I’m baking this weekend! They look amazing!
Jessie @ Just Jessie
Loving the pics from your trip! And I just got my EC planner yesterday as my birthday present to myself (then again everything I’ve bought in January has been a “birthday present”) and OMG I love it already. I need to go buy like 5,000 pens, stickers, washi tape, etc. like right now.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
The obsession is real! I can’t even tell you how many hours I’ve spent on Etsy and YouTube lately… all devoted to getting new ideas for my planner π
Angela @ HonestlyAngela
Your photos of the mountains are beautiful! No wonder you have a hard time deciding what to use.
That’s for the heads up about the planner! This would make the perfect birthday present for my mom!
Bridget
I go on my snowboarding trip to Wausau, WI next weekend!!! This post made me super excited. My scenery (in WI) will not be nearly as beautiful as what you see up in Canada!!
EVA
Oh my gosh! Sorry to butt in, but I’m from WI! It’s definitely no mountains, but up north in the winter is so beautiful with all of the frozen over lakes and whatnot! I’m used to camping in Eagle River every summer, but it’s even more naturally incredible in the winter (despite the arctic temperatures!)
Chelsea @ Raw N' Toned
Seeing all this snow makes me super jealous! I really hope where I end up moving to this summer snows this winter! It’s so pretty, and I would love for once to just be able to go out in it!
Tina Muir
Your trips are always so beautiful! You live THE live and I love it! Liking the level of ripeness for your banana might I add! Have a wonderful day my friend!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Thanks, Tina! Happy Thursday to ya π
Brittany @ Delights and Delectables
I totally agree. Trying to pick out pics for a post after vacation is tough. Looks absolutely gorgeous girl!
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment
That view! You actually are able to make snow look glamorous. Makes me want to consider braving the cold!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
It’s all about how you look at it π
Julie @ Running in a Skirt
Mountain trips are so nice! What gorgeous pictures.
I always end up posting WAY too many pictures post vaca too.
Thanks for the link up today!
Erin @ The Almond Eater
McDonald’s coffee is actually pretty good….sometimes I hate admitting that so I’m glad you did it for me. Your mountain photos are always so pretty, so whatever you do, never stop posting them π
Kathy @thepandapost
Those pictures are amazing and I am very jealous! π
Kate @ Baking in Yoga Pants
Those views and those cookies, the good life I tell ya π
Becky @ Olives n Wine
I just made your cookies this morning π I loveeeee that they’re egg free so I could eat the dough, hehe! And man, I just bought a Plum Paper planner… I’ve heard they’re very similar to the EC ones but I wish I would have seen your discount first!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Aww poop. I’ve heard lots of great things about the Plum Paper planner too, though! Lots of people actually end up preferring them over the EC, so you never know!
Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious
Those mountains are gorgeous! Almostakes me want to brave the cold!
Susie @ SuzLyfe
I think that you are basically doing us all a service by posting those pictures. Just so spectacular! Love recipes and all that, but those pictures, I would be just fine with them!
Chelsea
From the small amount of time we have spent hiking in Canada
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Way to leave me hanging! π
Chelsea
Haaahahahaha. I must have seen a shiny object and gotten distracted!!!!!
“From the small amount of time we spent hiking in Canada I know they mean business with those warning signs!”
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
I’m pretty sure the #publicbanana was my favorite photo followed closely by the selfie. I appreciate them both.
I would love to see a bear up close-ish…not too close but just enough to be exciting.
Bananas are still ripening on the counter…they’re getting closer.
Hollie
I agree that I think posting after vacations is always rough. I hate looking through photos and thinking, gosh I had a great time…now I’m back in real life. LOL, I’m glad you enjoyed your time there and it really looked like a lot of fun.
Michele@paleorunningmomma
Great photos! Your weekend looks pretty perfect and you look so happy π my version of snow is not nearly as glamorous π
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Don’t worry — mine usually isn’t either π
Lisa @ Running Out Of Wine
Looks like another beautiful trip! And that actually looks like the perfect banana.
I definitely need to try those cookies as some point!
[email protected]
Awesome pictures. So jealous.
Love it when you share your pictures of the snowy mountains in Canada. π
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
hahahaha people kept telling me to be concerned about bears out here, but then I just kept telling them why cougars were way worse. I’ve told Chef-friend multiple times how much a cougar could mess me up. So basically, i just fill him in on all the ways Alberta could kill me. He’s not impressed.
Khushboo
Way to make us jealous of your weekend, girl ;)- looks breathtakingly beautiful! I need to get on board with the McDonalds coffee- if someone else said it was good, I’d be skeptic but given our mutual love for java, I know you are a legit source. I’m thinking about making some baked treats for a few girlfriends on Valentine’s to spread the love- adding these cookies to my list for sure….obv I’ll let you know how the turn out :)!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Please do! And McD’s coffee is good in the sense that it’s no fuss, no muss. It’s just straight up good normal coffee, which I can appreciate after some of the “artisan” nightmares I’ve had…
Liz S.
Picturesque setting! Wow!
Lucie@FitSwissChick
On my list: Snowboarding with Spoons in Canada. Put it on your list too, k?
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Right under “Snowboarding with Lucie in the Alps” <3
Sara @ Lake Shore Runner
Your trip looks amazing! And those cookies – yum. They basically have all my favorite things in it – just need some PB ha. Bookmarking for later!
Andrea @ The Pineapple Cake
I’m so glad you included all of those vacation photos because I just love looking at other people’s vacay photos. Especially cold climates. I’m such a travel in the winter kind of person!
Those banana cookies look fantastic!! I saw those yesterday and have been contemplating breaking this whole paleo thing just to try them. Vegan is healthy right?
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
π It can be! Although Oreos are vegan soooo… there’s that. But baking at home with high quality ingredients is always a good thing. Everyone needs cookies in their life π
Arman @ thebigmansworld
I didn’t see a picture of you on here. Just a ghost.
McDonalds coffee = my saving grace during a 10 hour drive. okay, fine it was a gas station.
4.30 no no.
