Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!
1. Can.you.believe that this is the one HUNDREDth instalment of Thinking Out Loud?!? Because I can’t π― I published my very first ToL post all the way back in October of 2012, ending it with a classy…
“These posts are kind of fun. If no one objects, I think Iβll be doing them more often.”
… and I guess no one objected, because I’ve been doing them [almost??] every week since then. Truth be told, they’re my favourite posts both to read and write. To read because I think random thoughts are a great way to get to know someone better (which is why I started the linkup); and to write because I find it extremely relaxing to be able to spew out whatever random craziness happens to be going through my head without having to worry about the rhyme or reason behind it. So thank you for sticking with me and taking part in ToL over the years… whether that be by leaving your random thoughts in a comment or linking up your own posts. I kind of like you guys a lot.
2. I also kind of like this song…
[youtube=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDWGp0mrmXk&w=576&h=315″]
3. And these sugar snap peas…
If you would have told me there’d come a day where I’d willingly snack on [green] vegetables instead of cookies, I probably would have laughed myself sick. Well… that day has come. It all started innocently enough when I grabbed a handful out of boredom on the 13-hour drive to Whistler, and before I know it, I’m buying bag after bag when I get home. Seriously. I can go through a 2 lb. bag of these things in about… 2 or 3 days? And now you’re looking at me like I’m crazy, but I can’t help it — they’re addicting! I’ve tried the Snappea Crisps, and I can honestly say that I like these better because they’re crunchy and refreshing.
4. So I went to the mall this past weekend, all excited to pick up a new iPhone (I finally decided to go with the 6 in gold), only to come home with no iPhone and a few bags of makeup and clothes instead. But they didn’t have my size the one I wanted! I almost, almost caved and settled for one in space grey just so I could have it at.that.very.moment, but I had my heart set on a gold one since I’ve only ever had the black, and I decided to go the delayed gratification route and order one with my phone provider instead. It’s supposed to come sometime within the next week, so hopefully I can share that with you guys in ToL 101!

5. Squee! I feel like I’m getting my groove back! After dealing with a serious case of writer’s block, it’s nice to have the words flowing a little more freely. Thinking Out Loud is kind of amazing for that. Or maybe it’s the caffeine talking. Either way! It’s nice.
6. Speaking of caffeine… I once heard someone say that no one really likes the taste of coffee, and that the only reason people drink it is for the buzz. Guys… I’m not even joking when I say that I legit almost butted into the conversation (these were strangers sitting at the table next to me) to say that I’ll gladly drink straight up black decaf because I love the taste so much. And it’s true — I do. The buzz (which I sometimes don’t even get) is just a bonus.
7. “Can I borrow that leaf?” <– actual words spoken by me to my mom when I was over there for Thanksgiving this past weekend. This was the leaf in question…
… and I wanted to “borrow” (read: take it… Sorry, Mom!) because I figured it would make a good prop in blog pictures Also… Does anyone else ever have a good internal giggle when someone asks to borrow a piece of paper? As if they’re going to return it? No? Just me? Fine.
8. Speaking of Thanksgiving… this year was kind of a strange one for us because we didn’t actually have a turkey π― My family’s never been huge on turkey (mostly because of the leftovers), and when it came time to plan out the menu, no one really got enthusiastic about seeing a bird on the table, so we sacked the idea. It was our first time without one, and I had to admit that I didn’t really miss it at all. As long as there’s food and family, I’m a happy camper.
9. My iPhone came! My iPhone came!!!! Between writing point #4 and now (about 5 hours — I write sporadically throughout the day), the UPS guy paid me a visit and delivered my new phone! SQUEEEEE!!! I’m still in the process of setting everything up so I can’t say too much about just yet, but I can’t get over how much faster it is than my old phone. Holy.snap π― I’ll share more next week!
10. And lastly but not least-ly… I need your input on tomorrow’s recipe! Your choices are: pumpkin hot chocolate or a creamy chocolate smoothie that has yet to be creatively named. Chocolate is involved either way, so I’m basically just asking you if you prefer a hot drink or a cold one. Let me know in the comments, and I’ll see you tomorrow with whichever one gets more votes!
No questions… just tell me whatever comes to your mind! π

I remember getting my 5S and being amazed at how much faster it was!
Enjoy the new iPhone π
cait @pieceofcait
i cant wait to hear what you think of the iphone 6! I have an upgrade and still have 4S ! π
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I’m loving it so far! But then again, I had the 4 (not even the s), so this is a HUGE upgrade. It -is- a little big, but you get used to it pretty quick.
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment
100! That’s awesome! I am torn on the new i-Phone as well…
Thanks for hosting the link up!
Heather @fitncookies
I’ve been debating the new phones. Can’t decide if I want to bite the bullet, and the only real reason I am considering it is because my battery is awful on the 5! I love hot chocolate, so that pumpkin one sounds delicious π Being that I sub and the kids always need paper, I laugh inside everytime they say borrow. Actually, when Aaron asks to borrow something, most times I ask if he is going to return it π
Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves
Oh look at the iPhone 6 beauty! It’s huge! I’m looking forward to hearing what you think about it.
Also, happy 100th, ToL!!! I really wish I had the time to type up a post to join the party on such a special day, but I guess I’ll just wait for 101 π
Hmmm I say chocolate smoothie! Mostly because, for some reason, Boston has decided to stay in the high 70s/low 80s this week. What happened to fall?!
Karen
Your phone looks so beautiful… someday I will have an iPhone. And a Macbook. And everything else Apple make. But it’s not happening on a student budget… *sigh*
Also pleeeeeeeease do the hot chocolate! It’s too cold and dreary here for cold smoothie/shake things. Ireland is living up to its super-rainy reputation and I need warm cuddly things to make it less dull! π
Lucie@FitSwissChick
Love love loooove that song!!!
Hot Chocolate. Our weather here is grey and rainy, so I feel like I need a hot chocolate recipe soon!
And yay for the new phone. I have the 5 in gold which is great, but – and I feel bad by saying this but it’s true – after a year of having it, I am almost ready for e new one. I’m easily bored, obviously.
Irina
So jealous that your iPhone came so quickly!! I ordered mine (white + silver) last week and apparently it won’t even ship until end of October!!! Grrr….I want it right meow!
And how dare do people declare that coffee doesn’t taste good? I love drinking my coffee straight black and adore the sharp bitter taste. In fact, one of my favorite parts about drinking daily coffee is trying coffee from all around the world and seeing how the tastes differ.
P.S. – I vote for pumpkin hot chocolate π
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Awwrs! This past week feel like for.ev.er, so I totally feel you on the waiting bit. Hopefully it goes by quickly! And that’s actually one of my favourite parts about drinking black coffee as well — really being able to pick up on the subtleties.
Sky @ Blonde Freedom
Yayy for post 100!! I love this linkup! I can always come up for a post for this day even when I may be having writer’s block. I’m totally jelly of your gold iPhone. I have been obssessed with gold these last few months so I’m definitely a fan. And pumpkin hot chocolate sounds amazing!
Lisa @ Running Out Of Wine
TOL posts have become my favorite too! For all my other posts I need to go into them with some sort of topic, but on Thursdays I know I can just sit down and start typing and something will end up on the screen:) I hope you are enjoying the new phone! I am so with you on the coffee thing. I drink all my coffee black now (except an occasional treat from Starbucks) and I drink it just as much for the taste as for the caffeine. I feel bad for people who don’t like the taste of coffee but drink it anyway!
Chris
Pumpkin hot chocolate!! For sure. And hooray for the phone! Now go get a case so you don’t drop it and shatter it in the midst of all your excitement! =)
Michele @ paleorunningmomma
I’ve seen the iPhone 6 and the size amazed me! I also love the taste of black coffee, but didn’t until I stopped the artificial sweeteners. I used to put so much splenda in my coffee! Now just a little coconut milk is perfect for me.
Chelsea
HAPPY 100!!!!! π π π
I am very glad you stuck around doing them π
Snap peas = awesome
Pumpkin hit chocolate gets my vote…mainly because…PUMPKIN π
Jen @ Bagels to Broccoli
YAY for TOL #100!! So awesome. I also got the iPhone 6 in Gold, and it’s pretty good…but I feel like I’m always going to have it slip from my fingers and smash into pieces. Kinda slippery. But I feel fancyyy! π
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
That’s how I feel too! I need to put a case on it, but I haven’t been keen on any of the ones I’ve come across. Hopefully I don’t drop it before I find something I like π―
terri
Ha ha, that leaf is very pretty!
I vote for the pumpkin hot chocolate. That sounds perfect!
Kaila @healthyhelperblog!
NO TURKEY!? That’s my favorite Thanksgiving food! LOL What did you all have as your main course instead? π
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
We had honey roasted chicken. So… still a bird, but a smaller one π
Brittany
Ahhh so jealous of the iPhone!!! is that the plus? I like that it’s big but I also feel like it may be toooo big.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Nooo that’s just the regular one. The Plus is seriously way too big.
Katie @ Daily Cup of Kate
Oooh I would love to see both recipes but I have been all about smoothies lately, so I vote for that! Love the new gold iPhone. Scott just got his in the mail too!
Sarah
That is awesome your phone came while in the midst of writing this post! Definitely let us know how you like it π I completely agree with you, coffee tastes great. While I can see where people would drink it for the buzz, if you hate it then what is the point? I don’t really even feel anything when I drink it, if anything I feel more calm haha!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I’ve been known to fall asleep after a cup of coffee as well. Whoooops
Kelly @ Kelly Runs For Food
Congrats on the new iPhone! I really want one of the new ones, but I just got a 5!
Brynn
Congrats on the big 100! Let me say, I love the taste if coffee and drink decaf since I’m breast feeding because I like the taste that much. Coffee lovers unite!!
Susie @ SuzLyfe
Happy TOL Century! I wonder what the anniversary gift would be for that? I”m sure there are standards, but we are just going to pretend that it is the iPhone anniversary π
Laura @ Raise Your Garden
Speaking about the coffee buzz. My wife loves decaf coffee and I’ve always been on the side of “what’s the point?” She definitely likes the taste! I vote for the silver i phone.
Fran@BCDC
Hi Amanda! Finally made it here for my first Thinking Out Loud and I’m exited. Love the idea of snap peas as a snack. I need to get some of them. So happy that your iPhone came in. I’m thinking of moving to the iPhone from my Samsung Galaxy when my contract expires in April. Mainly for the option of Facetime. My husband has the iPhone and we may be spending some time away from each other in the coming year and I would like to have that option. I vote for pumpkin…I always vote for pumpkin! Have a great day!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Happy to have you this week, Fran! Hope that you’re feeling better π
Jen @ SavedbytheKale
Happy 100 TOL posts!!! I am up for a new iphone in December and I cannot wait, my current one is falling apart! My vote is for the Pumpkin Hot Chocolate π
Diana
I love your new iphone!
Writers block ….I usually read other blogs and get inspired or get some creative ideas π Seems like you are doing JUST FINE! π
I have asked to “borrow” weird things before too lol at the leaf!
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
I prefer to say champagne colored when talking about the ‘gold’ iPhone. It has a certain sophisticated ring to it and totally worth the delayed gratification.
I liked the song, and sugar snap peas are awesome, especially when they’re direct from the farmers market. I can actually tell a difference in texture and flavor when compared to my grocery story, and you know I love my store too. They’re super crunchy and sweet all at the same time. Yep, I snack on those during the summer and occasionally I’ll dip them into hummus, although mostly I eat them solo.
Happy 100 episodes and for starting a linkup that has been a roaring success. You have the Midas touch.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Can we say I have the “champaign” touch? π
Tina Muir
HAPPY 100th spoons! How exciting! That is crazy there have been 100 x 10 (isn) random thoughts since you started….plus many more from your readers! Love it! Here is to 200! Oh, and I am interested to see how you get on with the new iPhone!
meredith @ The Cookie ChRUNicles
So glad you are out of writers-block. And I am laughing about the leaf because just yesterday I was noticing how pretty the leaves are looking and I wanted to take them inside and do something with them. I think my son is too old for the leaf projects though.
Tiff @ Love, Sweat, & Beers
Congrats on the big 100! I had to participate in this week’s linkup. Oh, and that leaf is totally “borrow”-worth. π
Cat
Happy 100th ToL! Love your point about the taste of coffee – I once ordered decaf (because I too love the liquid so so much) and got a similar ‘why drink coffee then’ comment from my coffee date!
We don’t speak much any more.
I kid. Oh and just reading about your new iPhone is making me want one. I should never have abandoned for cursed no-app Nokia!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
“We donβt speak much any more.” <-- literally laughed out loud at that one π
Charlotte @ Commitness to Fitness
Pumpkin hot chocolate!!(im doing this comment in reverse) although the smoothie sounds amazing too. (both! :D) ) i just ordered the 6 in gold last night!! mines not coming til the 1st week in november though :/ talk about delayed gratification. Also that is one nice leaf:) also also CONGRATS on 100 TOLs! woo! im happy to be have been apart of them since july π
Shashi @ RunninSrilankan
CONGRATS on 100!!! And WOA – that was quick delivery on your iphone!
Btw, that leaf IS gorgeous – I can understand your mom wanting to borrow it…and since you mentioned “borrowing” -you know what – I forgot about that cup o sugar my neighbor “borrowed” π
I adore chocolate and pumpkin in baked goods – but I cannot imagine a pumpkin and chocolate drink – so would LURRRVVVE to see your pumpkin hot chocolate!
Happy TOL Thursday! Glad to hear you got over your writers block!
Khushboo
YAaaay on the new iPhone!! Mine should arrive tomorrow so I’m pretty sure I know where a huge chunk of my weekend is going! And I’m so with you about coffee- I love the taste & ritual of drinking the stuff…the occasional buzz (which doesn’t always hit) is just a pleasant side-effect- pleasant depending on the time of the day. I am sitting under an air conditioner and yet still feeling warm so my vote goes for the smoothie…please & thank you :)!
Andrea @ The Pineapple Cake
Answering question 10 first… it’s warming up in Australia so I vote for the cold drink… then again, i have a cold and pumpkin is always in season down here so hot chocolate sounds yummy as well. Wow. I didn’t answer that question at all. I’m no help. You’re recipes always look so yummy.
Yay for post 100, and yay for a new iphone. I love reading your TOL posts each week and joining in the link up meeting new bloggers. Thanks for hosting! π
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
And thank you for joining, Andrea! Hope that you feel better soon <3
Arman @ thebigmansworld
Glad Arman arrived in his shiny gold glory. And the poor leaf…did it rip en route home?
I purposely step on crunchy leaves. It’s so liberating. Big props to 100 posts- scream and shout. and let it all out.
