Hey, hey! Happy Monday! 😀
I think that came across sounding a little more enthusiastic than I actually feel… After spending the last two days snowboarding, driving, and staying up far later than I’m used to, I.am.tired. How the heck did I used to do this all the time when I was younger?!? I have no idea, but I do know that I’m definitely going to need an extra cup of coffee or two to get through today.
I had a blasty blast, though, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. In fact, I may be able to do it again in a few weeks, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves and recap this last weekend first, shall we? And let’s do it selfie As We Speak style…
As we speak, I’m… trying to shake the feeling that I forgot something. Toothbrush? Check. Phone? Check. Underwear? Check. Hmm…
I’m also simultaneously admiring my eyelashes… Thank you, Maybelline.
As we speak, I’m… currently out of commission. No coffee = no talkie.
Here’s some random scenery instead…
As we speak, I’m… one step closer to becoming more human…
Thank you, dear friend…
As we speak, I’m… happy to be out of the car after a 3.5 hour drive and gearing up for a day on the slopes.
As we speak, I’m… keeping myself entertained on the [long] way up the mountain by snapping pictures on the chairlift. Note to self: do not take gloves off for extended periods of time when it’s cold and windy out. Ouch.
As we speak, I’m… strapping myself in at the top of the mountain, apparently with no idea that my picture was being taken…
As we speak, I’m… apparently feeling the need to snap a picture of the banana I was eating during an afternoon break in the lodge. Blogging habits die hard. It was a good banana.
As we speak, I’m… back on the slopes! And looking for my snowboard in the crazy amount of snow they had up there. Conditions.were.awesome.
As we speak, I’m… done for the day and calling dibs on my bed back at the hotel. The one by the window/patio is always mine.
As we speak, I’m… taking the ever-classy bathroom selfie [after winning my choice of beds]… I’m also singing the [annoying] #Selfie song in my head. But first… let me take a selfie…
As we speak, I’m… making hotel room oatmeal on Sunday morning. Please note the Starbucks cup that I saved from the day before and the cinnamon shaker that I brought from home. Now I just need to start remembering to bring salt…
As we speak, I’m… at it again for round two. I’m also secretly wondering what the heck I’m supposed to do with my hands. Oh posing… you make me feel all sorts of awkward…
As we speak, I’m… enjoying the views on the way home… for all of about 30 minutes before I started asking #arewethereyet?!? Why is it that the drive home always feels so much longer than the drive there?
And now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go ahead and eat everything in sight. Snowboarding cranks up my appetite like nothing else, so I see an epic day of eats ahead of me. Happy Monday, friends! Make it a good one! 😀
My mind is running a blank for questions, so tell me one awesome thing that happened this weekend.

The scenery there is so pretty! I might actually LIKE winter if it looked like that here. But instead I tend to be surrounded by gross brown slushy streets. 😛 Thank goodness spring seems to finally be here at last – it’s been above 10 degrees these past few days!
One awesome thing that happened this weekend was seeing my old roommates for the first time in like 8 months! We went to our old stompin’ grounds in London and tried to party it up like the good old days… except we couldn’t last past 1:30 am haha. Guess we’re getting old.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
It’s gross and slushy around Edmonton too — only nice up in the mountains. And I know what you mean about not being able to last as long as you used to… that’s exactly what I was thinking all weekend 😆
Christine@ Apple of My Eye
Ohh looks like a GREAT trip! I know what you mean when you say the drive back feels like it takes longer than the drive there. Guess you just get worn out and dread the drive back haha!
Hope you can get some extra rest <3
Leigha @ Minougirl
I can’t believe I didn’t go boarding this winter. That’s the first time in years! All those pics of the scenery are beautiful. Although I hate taking my phone out on the lift! Too risky – I’m prone to drop my phone!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I was kind of worried about that too, but mine is so old that I kind of need an excuse to get a new one 😉
Arman @ thebigmansworld
You did not just say you didn’t bring salt…. Who are you?! I love how we share the caffeine deprived face. As we speak…. Literally- I’m grateful. You know why 🙂
Liz @ I Heart Vegetables
Brrrrr I hope you’re having fun up there girl! It looks beautiful 🙂 Stay warm!
Kim
Awesome pictures!! I wish I liked skiing and snowboarding more!! It always looks so fun but its just so cold!! Ha
Nicole @ FruitnFitness
Those pictures of the slopes are beautiful! I’m not a fan of the snow but love how beautiful it can be. Love how you bring your own cinnamon shaker from home.
Bridget
As we speak… I am sitting at my desk (I’m a teacher). I am so happy I stumbled across your blog! My passion for nutrition is very similar to yours. What are your thoughts on stevia? I have recently tried adding it to my oatmeal, but can definitely live without it. I just don’t want to put anything harmful into my body. Thanks!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I don’t use stevia mostly because it doesn’t agree with my stomach — it bloats me up like crazy. That being said, I’ll still buy the occasional product that contains small amounts of it, but I don’t add it to any of my food. There’s not enough research out there to tell if it’s harmful or not, but I do know that a lot of people complain about it messing with their tastebuds and making them crave sweeter foods.
runnermamablogger
Your pictures are beautiful and it looks like you had fun.
Sky @ The Blonde In Black
As we speak I’m on my lunch break at work and I’m wishing it was still last week when I was on Spring Break. I still can’t believe all the snow and that you are still boarding!! Last week I was at a pool in my bikini haha
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
😆 I honestly couldn’t even imagine that kind of weather in March. Maaaaaybe in July if we’re lucky 😉
Lauren @ LoveChocolateLife
As we speak I’m sitting at a desk at work (shhh don’t tell anyone I am reading blogs). Being on the mountains is 100xs better than this !!! 🙂 glad you had fun. I love skiing but am SO READY for spring 🙂
Meg
I love your blog and am a long-time reader :). Great post and love the selfies but girl, in the interests of body image, smile with your teeth! You’ll be even more inspiring, I promise!
Marina @ Lazy for Diet
As we speak, I admire these landscapes that you showed. Also I don’t understand why I still didn’t start being engaged in a snowboard… Though I too live in the northern country!
Kim @FITsiqe
As we speak… I’m eating chicken, in an office with no windows, wishing I was skiing with you or enjoying the spring weather that FINALLY arrived here instead. Love the pictures, what resort were you at?
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
We went to Marmot Basin in Jasper 🙂
Lauren
As we speak I’m… finishing my last drop of coffee and considering a tiny break down because I want more!!!
I always love the beds by the windows/patio because I love to look outside while I’m falling asleep and being steps away from the patio in the morning <3 PLUS if you're at a location with a beach (!!!) you can hear the waves! Love it so much!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Ohh that would have been lovely. Unfortunately, I was right by the heater 😆
Ange @ Cowgirl Runs
One day I’ll get to the mountains. It’s ridiculous that I rarely go seeing as I’m an hour away :S
I suppose the one good thing to all this never ending snow is good ski conditions 🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Girl you crazy! I’d be up there every weekend if I could! The 3-4 hour drive is kind of killer though 😯
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
I love how you made sure to include a banana picture in there :-p it’s like a blogging rule! Glad you had a good weekend love!
Currently, I’m…reading blogs as a means of procrastination from thesis edits. Dammit, should probably get back to that…
Megan @ The Skinny-Life
As we speak, I’m sitting at the hospital with my Mom and catching up on work and my favorite blogs. The scenery there is gorgeous! It looks cold for this AZ girl though. Lol…
Jen @ Chase the Red Grape
As we speak I am cursing you for getting the selfie song in my head!!! Only joking!!! 🙂
As we speak I am catching up in blogs and enjoying some natural yogurt with cranberries, dates and coconut – yum!
Maria @ The Good Life
You are too adorable! Looks like you are having an awesome day except for the cold weather! Enjoy and be safe!
Kelly @ Kelly Runs For Food
Love all your views! Even though I’m very much over winter, I can still appreciate how pretty those mountains are.
As we speak I’m crunching numbers at work (while also reading blogs, apparently….) and heading off to a meeting!
Jess @dearhealthyness
Love the view!!! I’ve never snowboard before, but that’s on my bucket list!!
Megan (The Lyons' Share)
OMG that song … I hate it, but every time it comes on I kind of can’t stop listening. Turning on other music now to get it out of my head! As we speak, I’m a little jealous of your boarding adventures and sad I didn’t make it out skiing this year, but also grateful for the gorgeous spring weather we have in Texas!
Chelsea
As we speak I’m…trying to figure out how to dodge out for lunch to go to the Chipotle that opened TODAY.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Beyond jealous…
Chelsea
I was WAY too impatient to wait. So, it hasn’t happened yet. But..soon.
Miss Polkadot
Okay, so I’ve never been the hugest fan of winter sports but the pictures of the chairlifts alone bring back a plethora of memories. The ski holidays in the French alps with my grandparents and other relatives. Being out on the slopes all day. Returning to giant pots of pesto pasta prepared by my grandma and sitting together chatting all evening. It’s been so long! Anyway, I’m glad to hear you had a ‘blasty blast’ and fingers crossed for a repeat soon!
As we speak I’m supposed to work on a press information paper but I… needed a break?! A little bit of blog reading to keep myself entertained and my thoughts inspired. Just the way you do, right?
Sarah @pickyrunner
Reading your trips about snowboarding makes me miss my weekends skiing growing up. Until I became serious about swimming, we used to go to a resort a few hours away almost every weekend and I loved it. I don’t miss being cold all the time though! As we speak I should be studying for nutrition but instead I’m drinking hot chocolate and catching up on blogs. No surprise there.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
😆 It happens. I’m almost always doing something that I’m not supposed to be. Trying to become proficient at multitasking ended up giving me ADD 😯
Amy@Long Drive Journey
Haha there is snow where I am today, too, but I am not happy about it. I did take one picture to accompany a text message entitled “fml”.
Glad you had a fun weekend!
Nichole
The slopes look incredible!
Jo @ Living Mint Green
As we speak… I’m standing in my kitchen with no pants on. Dreading putting pants on. UGH.
One thing that happened this weekend – I got to hang out with my BFF and drink wine/watch Sex & The City in bed. It was perfect. 🙂
meredith @ The Cookie ChRUNicles
As we speak I am looking for my next cup of coffee. It has already been a long morning….I like to think I introduced you (by total accident) to that awful selfie song.
Ms.J
I swear I was there with you!..got to love this kinda posts 🙂 .
Wow that is quite the Winter Wonderland right there.
I must say, you rock snow boarding gear just fabulously Amanda 😉 .
As we speak..I’m taking one of several blog-reading breaks at work *shhhh*. Keeps me happy and a million x more productive somehow!
Yep..travelling home = kills me. We need to work on that teleporting powers of yours 😀 !
Krista @ Tiny n Fit
I had the best weekend- I finally got some sleep! As we speak I’m doing a far-too-complicated report for work on a Monday. Boo. But the good sleep I had makes it (almost) worth it!)
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Oh girl I hear ya! I actually managed to get a decent amount of sleep last night and felt fabulous today. Now if only I can keep this up on a regular basis!
Sarah @ Feeeding the Brain and Body
Yes, I’m excited to see someone else that brings a cinnamon shaker away with them on vacations…my family thinks I’m obsessed. I always grab extra salt packets at fast foods so I have them in my bag if I forget my own salt! I think we would make great traveling buddies because my motel room table always looks the same at breakfast and no coffee = no talkie! The scenery photos are incredible!!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Ooo that’s actually a great idea! Those little salt packets would definitely be a lifesaver. I’ve only ever thought to ninja honey from Starbucks 😆
Ang @ Nutty for Life
I seriously love these posts. They’re so cute! Glad you had a fun weekend, you BA snowboarder you.
Lucie@FitSwissChick
Awww I WISHSHSHSHSH I could have joined you on the slopes!! With almost 20 degrees celsius the snow in the swiss alps is melting like crazy 🙁
Looks like such a great weekend. I have a very similar snowboardjacket 🙂 sisters
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I don’t think we’ve ever had temps like that at this time of the year! We’ll probably still have snow for another month or so 😆 Wouldn’t it be nice if it would be warm in the city and always snowy in the mountains? I need to find a place like that…
Ksenija @ With An Open Mind
What an epic weekend! It makes me really want to try snowboarding myself when I see your recaps, lady. And isn’t a post with mostly pictures nice for a change from time to time 😉 I always enjoy it after a long trip when pictures say more then words and I can relax for a bit. Especially when I need to get up before dawn to finish a paper before going to class… I hope I can manage to get a decent weekend recap together this evening.
Megan @ Meg Go Run
I love those silly pics of you. You’re gorgeous!
Erin @ The Almond Eater
Ahhh I love it! Glad you had a great time snowboarding. As we speak I’m…. waiting for the coffee to be made at work (oh and reading this blog… :)) because I am in dire need of some!
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat
As we speak…I’m off from work today!
As we speak…I’m lying in bed and catching up on all my favorite blogs.
Looks like a fun weekend! Love the scenery!
Jan @ Sprouts n Squats
As we speak I am sitting in a hotel room and needing to be already in bed sleeping but I’m being naughty and staying up late to read blogs.
As we speak I am jealous of all your snow pics and it kind of makes me miss how I used to go skiing once a year with family.
As we speak I am ready for this week to be over and to get my arm cast off 🙂
