Goooood morning! Happy Tuesday to ya!
I usually write up my posts the evening before I post them, but I found myself in a bit of a [turkey-induced] food coma last night, so we’ll just have to see what kind of randomness I can come up with this morning.
This feels nice, having coffee and breakfast with you guys. We should do it more often. Although I should probably warn you — I eat breakfast ridiculously early sometimes, which probably has a lot to do with the fact that I wake up ridiculously early sometimes. Like today? Breakfast at 5 AM after waking up at 3:30. Don’t even ask — I woke up from a really strange dream and wasn’t able to fall back asleep. The kicker is that now I can’t even remember what my dream was about, or I’d tell you and you could go all psychoanalytic on me. Bugger. What I do know is that it’s probably going to end up being a very long day. I mean, when 8 AM hits and you’ve already been up for more than 4 hours? You really start running out of things to do…
And because I’m kind of running out of things to talk about (this is why I don’t write my posts in the morning), I’m eternally grateful to Alysia over at Slim Sanity for providing me with some material 😉 She tagged me with the Sunshine Award last week, and answering questions seems like something I can get my brain to do…
. – . – . – .
1. What food do you eat most often? I’m pretty sure almond butter takes the cake for this one with the multiple appearances it makes throughout the day, but bananas come in a close second. And yogurt….
2. What movie have you watched the most times? Oh geez. Honestly, probably some sort of Disney film. I actually really want to say The Lion King because I remember going through a phase as a kid where I pretty much watched it every day. Actually, I can probably still recite it word for word…
3. If you were an animal, what would it be? A cat. Sleeping, eating, pampering, and being prone to occasional bouts of craziness? Sounds like my kind of life. And this picture of me being a creeper and taking pictures of my neighbours’ pets is the only cat picture I could find on Spoons…
4. How many siblings do you have? Zero. I’m one of the few people I know that doesn’t have any brothers or sisters. We’re a dying breed!
5. Would you rather go on a tropical cruise or whale watching (something in the arctic)? Are we talking about something like an Alaskan cruise? Because if so, then I’d rather go that route. But if we’re talking about being on a gorgeous cruise ship in the tropics vs. a tiny tugboat in frigid waters, then cruise ship wins.
6. If you could go to dinner with any celebrity, who would you choose? Jennifer Lawrence, not only is she freaking hilarious, but I love a girl who loves food.
7. iPhone or Android? iPhone, but I’m rocking the 4, which doesn’t even let me upgrade to iOS7. Sad face.
8. What was your favourite subject in school? Philosophy, followed by English. Apparently I’m a glutton for punishment. Hellooooo essay writing up the wazoo. Loved the material, though.
9. What is your dream job? A writer. I’d love to write a book someday, and have a handful of ideas and drafts started, but motivation definitely waxes and wanes for that one. My second choice is a health and nutrition counsellor, which is what I’m currently training for.
10. What is your favourite thing about yourself? That I have a kind heart and genuinely care about people. That and my pinky finger on my left hand is kind of awesome… just sayin’ 😉
Yay for random breakfast musings! Hope you guys have an awesome day, and I’ll see ya tomorrow!
. – . – . – .
What time were you up this morning?
What was breakfast?
Pick a question (or two) and answer! Pretty please? 😀
Alex @ therunwithin
I am rocking the 4 iphone too. I hopefully can get this cracked phone a facelift. it is embarrassing how bad it is. hm… the one food i eat the most is probably carrots.
Hollie
We would be great breakfast dates since I eat ridiculously early as well. Breakfast for me was coffee and a bagel. Nice and relaxing. 🙂
Julianne @ LifeOffLeash
I’m an only child too! And yes we are a rare breed. Did you ever want a sibling? I really didn’t care too much until I became an adult. Boo.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Yup! It was the same for me… I actually loved it when I was younger, but now I would really love having a brother or sister, especially because the only family I have over here is my mom and dad.
Jaclyn @ Grateful Mountain Mumma
Well, nice to have brekky with you too! I am also in a food coma from two enormous and delicious turkey dinners this weekend. Happy Thanksgiving!
I am a suuuuper early riser as well…usually I awake around 4am and lay in bed wondering why I am up so early. It’s ironic because I have a ten month old son who sleeps through until 7am and here I am up and attem way earlier. Lots of times I check blogs at that time (yes I have my iphone with me…baaaad!) or I watch a Netflix or check FB. I am hoping to break that habit before I head back to teaching in January after my maternity leave. I should start working on that now, I suppose…
Have a wonderful Tuesday! I love Jennifer Lawrence as well, she seems so down-to-earth and genuine.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well! And I have the same bad habit of using my phone to check my e-mail/blogs as soon as I wake up… I swear I might be able to fall back asleep if I didn’t, but I just love getting an early start to the day.
Amy @ The Little Honey Bee
I love Q&As… especially with my blends 🙂 Oh girl the fact that you said Disney movies… AMAZING! I have probably seen Mulan too many times to count. That girl is seriously motivational! I slept in this morning until 6am (usually 4:45am for my workout but I’m resting!) breakfast was homemade muesli with oats, raisins and some diced plums. Actually wasn’t very satisfying… it needed some nut butter.
Davida @ The Healthy Maven
Girllll email me if you’re not able to sleep and bored…there’s a 95% chance I’m up too. Sleeping ain’t my strong suit.
I’m the youngest of 4 kids, which as it turns out is also a dying breed. Why are 2-3 kids all the rage these days? You’ve never met 4 more different children in your life though.
Sunnie@ModernGirlNutrition
I remember when that cat picture! That was too funny. Your oats look awesome as usual 🙂
Lauren
I woke up at 7:14 today, but I would definitely wake up a few days with you if it meant good conversation and coffee. Loads of coffee. Speaking of coffee, it’s always my breakfast of choice. There’s something about coffee which makes waking up less dreadful.
Lets go on a cruise together. Or a Disney trip. Or a tropical vacation. Pretty, please? I need girl time and a vacation… And money for these things. Lol
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
That would seriously be amazing. Let’s put it on the bucket list, kk?
Jen @ The Existential Broccoli
I was up at 5 am this morning for a 6 am client, and that was plenty early for me. Thankfully, that’s only once a week! I wish I could consistently wake up as early as you do, but I’m just not a morning person.
The Lion King came out the day before my 11th birthday on VHS, and I also went through a phase of watching it almost every day. Same with The Little Mermaid. I can probably recite them both from memory. Love me some Disney!
I’m an only child, too… there aren’t many of us!
Kelly @ Kelly Runs for Food
I’ve been having those nights where I wake up for no good reason and get back to sleep! Luckily, I’m usually up at 4:30 anyway for gym time so it works out. I’m on the road for work so I “slept in” until 5:30 to work out. I’ve been piecing my food together all morning thanks to granola bars from gas stations and snacks I packed before getting in the car!
Morgan
Ah I was on a steady wake up a 4am schedule for a few years due to a previous job. It does make for a very long day! I was up at 5:35am this morning to work out (cardio tabatas for 30 mins) while drinking my coffee (tsk, tsk I know) followed by a Sun Warrior Vanilla protein shake with 1 tbsp. PB2 mixed in and the delicious Pumpkin Oatmeal Cups that Brittany from Eating Bird Food posted last week! Power breakfast right there. I am an iphone user all the way, and a tropical cruise alllll the way. Sunshine please!
Christine @ Gotta Eat Green
You would be an amazing writer! Write a book.. I’ll buy it!! Haha. The food I eat most often is probably bananas.. or spinach. What a combo, eh? 😉
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
It works! People do it in smoothies all the time 😉
Alisha @ Alisha's Appetite
3:30 am?!!!! I would definitely crash and burn a few hours later. If I get less than 8 hours of sleep a night I am not one to talk to the next day! 🙂 And I just love JLaw- she’s gorgeous, real and loves food. I mean cmon! Have a great Tuesday!!
Tamara
Celebrity dinner dream guest: Kristen Bell!! I just adore her.
Food I eat most: probably oats (followed by banana, eggs, and spinach, in some random order).
Catherine @ foodiecology
I had oats for breakfast too, but they weren’t nearly as photogenic as yours. (They also were microwaved at work, so I’m doing my best, ha.)
I am also an only child and was an English/philosophy double major (total glutton for punishment, especially since both”senior seminars,” kind of like an undergrad thesis or capstone project, fell during the same semester!). I really think being an only child contributed to my love of writing, since I was often finding ways to entertain myself.
Gotta agree that Jennifer Lawrence’s love of food only amplifies her awesomeness!
Have a great day!
Sophie @ life's philosophie
I was up at 5:50 this morning for a run. I wish I could spend less time waking up before my runs! I end up waking up 30 minutes before I get moving. Breakfast is being enjoyed right now: plain 0% fage yogurt with granola, honey and walnuts. If I could go to dinner with any celebrity it would be Jennifer Lawrence or Emma Stone. I want to be BFF with them.
Kim@hungryhealthygirl
YES!! You totally need to be a writer and I think that everyone I read your posts!!
meredith @ The Cookie ChRUNicles
I am always up early to0 – today I was wide awake at 4 am and forced myself to stay in bed until 5. It is a good day when I can keep breakfast from happening until at least 6 am lol…I am an only child as well! So much in common.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
😆 It’s definitely a feat when I can put breakfast off until 6 AM… especially because it usually means I’m ready to eat lunch at 10:30.
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
I 100% think that you should write a book. You have such a great writing style that I think you could really do it! I’d read it 😉
My plan was to get up at 6:30 this morning, but I was actually up around 6:00 when I felt a certain pug licking my face…he decided that it was an early morning, apparently. Breakfast was a yogurt bowl consumed out of the yogurt container on the train. Classy!
I’d answer Jennifer Lawrence too – she seems like the kind of person you could chat with over nachos and beer (except wine or cider for me).
Jessie
If only we lived in the same time zone – we could totally keep each other entertained when we’re both wide awake at 4:00 in the morning. We could even enjoy a glass off coffee (well water for me, I dislike coffee.. i know i know, please don’t hate me) & some breakfast together.
Ashley {Whole Foods New Body}
I love that you would be a cat!! I think I could definitely handle a life eating, sleeping and being pampered! Sounds like perfection!
Natasha
Happy Belated Canadian Thanksgiving 🙂
I actually used to wake up super early too! Now I’m usually up around 5:30 or 6, which is better!!
I definitely think that you would be a fantastic writer. You have a way with words that keeps me reading your blog!
For breakfast this morning I’ve just had coffee, but oatmeal or some kashi go lean cereal will probably make an appearance soon.
The movie that I have watched the most in my life is super random, but it’s Troy with Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom. I used to have a major celebrity crush on Orlando Bloom when I was younger, and therefore watched that movie ALL THE TIME.
My favorite thing about myself is my ability to empathize with people and understand their perspective. I’m very self-aware and aware of others around me, which is why I always try to be really nice to otehrs. I also can’t hold a grudge for more than an hour because I finally break down and think to myself that whoever “wronged me” probably had something going on that made them upset, so it really isn’t their fault. Sometimes do people “walk over me?” Ya, probably. But I don’t care. I feel horrible if I’m mean to another person, so I’ll continue to do what I do!
Have a great day 🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
That’s a beautiful quality to have! Don’t let other people determine who you are or dull your shine — the world needs more kindness!
Hillary
We have at least two things in common! I’m an only child too, and I can’t seem to sleep past 4 am lately… hmmm. Love your blog!
Sarah
I was up at 3:45 a.m. as I am most mornings. Breakfast was Ezekiel bread toasted and topped w/pumpkin, almond butter, and banana slices plus a bowl of greek yogurt w/berries and chia seeds. Followed by a mug of tea. I have always been an early riser. I love the quite stillness of the pre-dawn hours.
I would like to be a house cat, spending my days stretching out in sun spots , napping, and feeling smugly superior to humans.
Have a great (long) day Amanda! Love your blog, it never disappoints.
Sarah
Oops! Don’t I feel dumb/ that’s quiet not quite.
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat
I would totally be a cat too! In fact, when I was little, I hated school and I always told my mom that I wished I was a cat because then I wouldn’t have to go to school. Thinking back on it…it’s pretty funny!
I woke up around 7:45 this morning because I’m off of work again today! Yay! I haven’t eaten breakfast yet, but it’s a toss up between oatmeal and pancakes!
Ksenija @ Health Ninja
I’d love to hear more about your writing ambitions, girl. It’s a passion of mine too (and I bet of most other bloggers 😉 ) and I’ve been working on some kind of book since I am 12 or so … yeah, it won’t probably happen before I am retiring and have nothing else to do but write the whole day, but still it’s fun and an amazing outlet… I also noticed that since I am writing the blog the urge to write a book grew a lot smaller.
Carly @ Snack Therapy
Oh. My. Gorsh. You are crazy for waking up at 3:30! Pop some Benadryl and get yo booty back to sleep! At least you’ll be able to end your work day early, right? That’s something!
I was (am) up at 5:45… Well, it’s now 5:55, actually, but you know. Have a great day, you almond butter fiend.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Confession: I sort of love waking up so early and getting things done before most people wake up. Confession 2: I usually nap in the afternoon 😉
Taylor
I though I was up early! 5am to make it to cycling before work for me…but then lots of coffee through out the day!
I love Jennifer Lawrence and would definitely want to meet her as well. I am actually hoping to work within entertainment so who knows maybe one day I will meet her 🙂
Alex @ Kenzie Life
I was a philosophy major in college and nothing makes me happier than sitting in the library writing papers. Seriously, I’m not kidding. Now I’m going back for a degree in Psychology and it’s so weird having to study for exams instead of writing papers! Breakfast this morning is a veganized version of your pumpkin muffins topped with earth balance. I love the sweet/salty combo! Hope you’re able to get some rest tonight to make up for what you missed!
Beth @ Mangoes and Miles
The only time I’ve been up at 3:30am was to catch our flight from Yellowstone back home (we were staying about 2.5 hours away from the airport, so…yeah). I can’t imagine doing that on a regular day. Having dinner with Jennifer Lawrence would be too awesome. Can I be invited? 😉 Also, that’s weird that the 4 doesn’t let you upgrade…my friend has a 3GS and he was able to without any trouble?
Heather Murphy
I wish my phone wouldn’t have let me upgrade it because I am not a fan! I am getting more used to it now, but at first it really messed with my apps and it was so frustrating! It is always so hard for me to go back to bed if I wake up in the middle of the night/ early morning. I have you make it though the day even with the early wake up call!
Parita @ myinnershakti
I was up at 5 am this morning, but breakfast came later at around 6:45 (post-workout). Vishnu and I both had our beloved mocha protein shake (with spinach of course). YUM.
And my dream job is to be a food critic, more specifically a vegetarian food critic. Eat food and write about it? Yes please!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
That would definitely be an awesome job, but I have the -hardest- time trying to figure out how to describe a dish, so I’m not sure I’d be any good at it.
Lucie
I would look like a hangoverish witch if I would sleep that little like you do. Lack of sleep really doesn’t support my apperance at ALL. 10 years ago, sleep sounded boring and useless to me, but today? Bliss. Though I must say I could definitely use those additional hours in my day! So I woke up at 4:55 but woken up by my alarm clock….
And Yayyyyy for Lion King!!! I absolutely LOVE this movie and I can still watch it over and over. I even had a mug, a bedcover and an agenda with Lion King on it 🙂 And if I wouldn’t be over 30 years old, I think I still would….
Erin @ The Almond Eater
Girl you wake up early! I was up at 5:30 this morning and thought thaaaat was early. Breakfast was overnight oats–so simple!
What food to I eat most often? Almonds. And granola bars (I’m loving Luna lately).
How many siblings do I have? One brother, one half sister, 4 step siblings—that’s a mouthful.
Kelly @ Femme Fitale
I just wanted to say that you most definitely should follow your dreams of becoming a writer, Amanda. You have a wonderful talent, and I’m not just saying that!!!
Kelly @ Femme Fitale
Oh, and if I could be any animal… it’s definitely a toss up between cat and dog. I think DOG. You get out of the house a little more often.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Awwr thanks so much, Kelly! I’d love to make it happen, the only question is… how? 😯
Becky @ Olives n Wine
Arghhh… My darn phone always hits submit too early. Sorry ’bout that! Anyways, I woke up at 4:30 this morning. Shockingly I wasn’t even slightly tired so I got up and fit in a quick workout. Maybe it was the 10 hours of sleep I got the past few nights that made up for it 😉 As for being an only child, I plan on adding to that group in a few years! Kids are just so darn expensive and I’d prefer if my body were only invaded once 😉 Happy Tuesday lady!!
Kelsey @ Ramblings of Change
I woke up around 6:20 but ended up falling asleep on the couch again! So I’m up now for good, at 7:30. My morning class was cancelled today, so I’m going to relax a little this morning. Plus, its storming here…I love it.
I would choose Jennifer Lawrence as well for dinner. I wish she could be my best friend! My dream job is to be a life coach, and I’m really excited to start that journey!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
A life coach? That’s awesome! Are you taking any courses for it?
Kelsey @ Ramblings of Change
Sort of? There is a facilitating health lifestyle change course in my course load right now, but otherwise, I haven’t really had the time to look into it! I’m hoping to do that in the beginning of 2014 and get a true plan set up for myself! I love the thought of approaching the whole life, so we will see what I come up with!
Becky @ Olives n Wine
I
Sarah @PickyRunner
Your pinky finger. That’s a good answer! You can’t upgrade the iPhone 4? I only have the 4, not even the 4s, and I was able to do it! There were some bugs at first but I think they’ve worked themselves out. I slept until 7:45 this morning, the latest I’ve slept in weeks!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Hmm… maybe it’d work if I plugged it in to a computer, but nothing shows up just on the settings screen. And to be honest, I’ve kind of been putting it off anyways after hearing about the bugs and wonky battery life. It sure is pretty though…
Lisa
We seem to be having the same sleep schedule. Mine has been wonky for sure. Early morning, late nights. Sleep is just not my forte it seems.
And YOU should definitely be a writer!!! I honestly can’t believe some people make it as professional writers and you are not one of them. Seriously, you are such a talented and amazing writer.
You can tell in your words that you have a true passion for it.
I love Jennifer Lawrence too, she’s just so awkward that it’s awesome.
Breakfast for me was a bowl of pumpkin oats (shocker). With almond butter…I must admit, I probably eat that most often as well.
Samantha @ 10,000 Squats
Wow you wake up early!! What time to you usually go to bed if you’re up at 5am? I thought I was an early riser with my wake up at 7am but you’ve got me beat. Breakfast will be an avocado and hard boiled egg in about 2 hours. Tasty!
If I could go to dinner with any celebrity it would be Justin Timberlake! Then he’d take me home and sweep me off my feet. Haha. My fiance and I have a deal about this ever happening of course. His is Britney Spears. Grosssss…
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I usually go to bed around 10 or 10:30… any earlier than that, and I just end up waking up even earlier 😯 And JT is a good choice… him and Britney used to be an item, so I guess you and your fiance’s swap makes sense 😉
