Last day of June! What the whaaaat?!?! π―
I know I say this almost every month, but I’m going to say it again because June in particular feels like it went by in the blink of an eye. Where the heck is time going?!? Are we realizing that there are only 6 months left until Christmas? Which means I’ll be decorating in 4.5? Crazy.
But here we are — the last day of June — and that means it’s time for another monthly favourites post!
June was good to me on the breakfast front… I discovered the wonderfulness that is chia oats towards the end of May, and it was pretty much love at first bite…
They replaced eggy oats as my breakfast of choice, and while I may start to switch things up a little bit, they definitely won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. So fluffy. So voluminous. So good.
If you recall, May saw me [completely] obsessed with Popchips, and while I still love them, I’ve added these Blue Diamond Nut Thins into my crispy chip/cracker rotation as well.
What I love most about them is that they’re so crispy, so light, and absolutely perfect for dipping. And speaking of dipping, lookit what else I came across this month!
Skotidakis tzatziki dip! I’m not sure how long this has been in stores around these parts, but it was the first time I saw it, which means it called for an [inner] happy dance in the store aisle. I’m honestly not sure if I’ve ever had tzatziki dip before, so while I can’t tell you how this one tastes in comparison to others, I can say that it’s super tasty and super creamy… and perfect for dipping chips, veggies, and fingers into.
And because I like to save the best for last, this is the part where I admit that ice cream sandwiches have been the love of my [foodie] life this month…
… specifically the vanilla sandwiches from Chapman’s and these mini coconut sandwiches from SO Delicious. Absolutely smitten.
Switching gears to foods that came out of my kitchen this month, blog recipes this month included…
Flourless Almond Butter & Jelly Muffins
Banana Oat Greek Yogurt Muffins (you guys LOVED these!!)
Egg & Veggie Quinoa Pie || Chocolate Chunk Orange Bread || Deviled Egg Dip for Savory Style.
I haven’t really been buying any new makeup for the past little while, which I guess means that I’ve found my holy grail products. I mean, I did buy some new shampoo, but I’ve only used it once so it’s kind of too early to toss it into a favourites post. I don’t want to leave you guys high and dry, though, so I thought I’d share just what those holy grail products are. Voila!
FACE: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder (Dim Light) || Maybelline Fit Me concealer (Light) || Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation (Beige) || MAC Studio Finish concealer (NC20)
CHEEKS: Benefit’s Coralista blush || Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer || MAC’s Mineralized Skinfinish (Soft and Gentle)
EYES: Urban Decay NAKED palette || Benefit’s They’re Real mascara || MAC paint pot (Painterly) || Maybelline’s Master Precise liquid eyeliner || NYX slim eye pencil (dark brown & gold)
I don’t wear everything on a daily basis, but those are the products that I keep in my main makeup bag and the ones I always turn to first.
No new makeup, no new books — what’s going on?! This is the first month in quite a while where I don’t have any new reads to share with you guys, and what I am going to share is going to make that look really bad, but I swear I’m not spending all of my time playing Farmville…
… only some of it π And it’s funny because I included another game (Candy Crush) in my June favourites post last year., so I guess it’s just a good time of the year for gaming? I dunno. What I do know is that this you should probably stay away from this game if you’ve never played it before, and if you have played it… well… then you probably know what I’m talking about. It was honestly one of those things I never thought I could get into because it never sounded that good, and now here I am taking it with me when I go out so I can keep up with my crops π Ridiculous. But fun.
June went by so quickly that I barely even remember it happening, but what I do remember is pretty darn good.
- My favourite part of June was, hands down, my trip to Utah for Blend. Meeting some of my favourite blends, spending time in the mountains, coming home with a crazy amount of swag… I’m already counting down the days until Blend ’15.
- My favourite post from June was definitely the one where I opened up about putting on a bit of weight and admitting that I won’t be working for a bikini body this summer. I may be carrying a few extra pounds, but I’m happy and healthy.
- Spoons hit over 2k likes on Facebook. Happy dance!
- Food talk (read: WIAW) involved:
- What my eats look like when life gets crazy
- and… eating things just because I feel like it
- … apparently I didn’t feel like talking about food much this month π―
- But lots of good stuff came out of my kitchen!
- Rice Krispie Stuffed Dates
- Flourless Almond Butter & Jelly Muffins
- No Bake Strawberry Cheesecake
- Banana Oat Greek Yogurt Muffins (already pinned over 4K times!!)
- Egg & Veggie Quinoa Pie (Savory Style)
- Chocolate Chunk Orange Bread (Savory Style)
- Deviled Egg Dip (Savory Style)
Here’s to an awesome July! π

What is this fallacy. You just came across tzatziki? That is standard kebab dip page!
I must admit, you know which post was my favourite of yours, but as for recipes…. Savoury style took my heart, sole and toast crusts.
Casey @ Casey the College Celiac
This was definitely an awesome month for you! My favorite part of June was definitely experimenting in the kitchen. I don’t know what was the most delicious – homemade hemp seed butter, pizza dough or nut-free granola! YUM!
Jen@HealthyFoodandFamily
I seriously can’t believe tomorrow is July!
Laur
My favorite type of dip… Hmm, do condiments count? Because I am the condiment queen. GIVE ME ALL THE MUSTARD AND KETCHUP. Otherwise, hummus… garlic variety just in case vampires, duh! ;o)
Girl, I need to get back into gaming. I miss Counterstrike, Call of Duty, and good ‘ole Nintendo 64. GIVE ME ALL THE GAMES. I’ve become too serious in my old age. I’m grumpy. Lol
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
An afternoon of gaming and lots of ice cream with sprinkles should cure that right up π
Tara @ Rovin' Rambler
I still need to try your Rice Krispie Stuffed Dates! They look so yummy and poppable.
My favorite thing about June, hands down, was a trip to Myanmar in the beginning of the month. It was stunningly gorgeous and so different from anywhere else I’ve traveled.
Kate
I can’t believe June is over already!! It’s shocking…
Love all the recipes! Definitely need to try out that no bake cheesecake ah!
Chelsea @ Chelsea's Healthy Kitchen
I haven’t tried that brand of tzatziki before, but I buy the President’s Choice one from time to time and I love it! Hummus is probably my #1 favourite dip though.
One awesome thing that happened this month was going camping with JZ and his friends this weekend – I had the best time!
Alisha @ Alisha's Appetite
favorite dip = salsa! But it has to be really spicy. Like I start sweating spicy π Best thing I did this month was my best friend’s wedding and visiting Toronto for the first time. Looks like you had an awesome month love!
She Rocks Fitness
I rescued a puppy and on Friday the 13th of June. I LOVE all dips, but guacamole is definitely my favorite…that counts as a dip right? I am totally not into games. Just not my thing. π Cannot believe tomorrow is July…what the heck???
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I had to go over and see your puppy, and omigosh — what a cutie!
Tiff @ Love, Sweat & Beers
Okay you win, I’m off to check out that cheesecake…
Marina @ Lazy for Diet
I did not even realize that June is over. I just today passed the final exam, which means that for me, summer has just begun. All I remember about June, I finished the first year of study at the university and participated in first race. Not so much for one month, huh?
Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves
Looks like an awesome month for ya, girl! I feel like June was one of the most jam-packed, fun months for a lot of people, including myself! Prom and graduation were pretty big, I guess..
Hummus is up there for favorite dips, but guac and spinach artichoke dip are probably my favorites!
Sam @ The Running Graduate
I thankfully got past my Farmville addiction a few years ago, but I’m still going strong on Candy Crush!
I’ve never been that huge of a dip person, but I love salsa and spinach and artichoke dip!!!
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries
You had so many delicious looking recipes throughout this month! Yum, yum!
Best thing that happened in June: BLEND Retreat for sure! My BODYPUMP training was definitely up there too. π
Kate @ Baking in Yoga Pants
Love your recaps and am so impressed by all your amazing recipes from the month! I too cannot believe it is already July tomorrow!
Ella
Awesome thing- just this morning, I found out I’ll be getting to review 3 gorgeous nail polishes for Birchbox in a video-SCORE!
Salsa/pico de gallo. I could eat it with a spoon. Sometimes I do π
I don’t really play any video games… I never feel like I have the time!
Have you heard of Tofutti?! Not sure if they’re sold in Canada, but when I was little they were the only ice cream sandwiches we bought. The ice cream is, you guessed it, tofu, but I SWEAR it is exactly like ice cream. I didn’t know it wasn’t a dairy treat until I was about 11 and decided to read the ingredients list. GASP! They are sooooo delicious and if you see them you should definitely try them.

Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I think I’ve seen Tofutti before but never actually tried their sandwiches. Maaaaaybe I’ll have to pick up a box to see how they stack up!
Jaclyn @ BumpSweat
How did I miss the rice-krispie stuffed dates?!? Those look incredible! The best part of June for me was vacation. I wish it could’ve lasted all month π
Megan @ The Skinny-Life
Tough call on the sauces! Hummus and salsa are a very close tie on my world. Where in the world did June go? It’s crazy to me that tomorrow is already July. Where has this year gone?
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I don’t think anyone knows! Everyone’s been saying the same thing about time flying…
Khushboo
It’s crazy that we are already halfway through 2014!! June looks like it was a super month for you, love those Nut Thins- I always stock up when I am in the Far East! June was an awesome month for me too- 2 highlights were definitely my trip to Paris and my birthday- can we go back and do June all over again? My favourite sauce of late is hummus- it never gets old!
Hollie
Wow it sounds like you had a great month. I cannot believe how fast June went by as well. I was just telling someone, hmm I wonder what races I’ll do in June and now I’m asking that for July too.
Liz @ I Heart Vegetables
Those stuffed dates are genius!
Kat
I seriously can’t believe we are almost into July. Its so freaking weird to think that Christmas is literally just months away now. Where oh where did the time go?
Ive been on the ice cream sandwich train lately too! Or ice cream bar I guess….
Chelsea @ A Fit LittleOne
I’ve never wanted an Ice Cream Sandwich so bad, until after seeing your post about them. Now to just find a gluten and lactose free one…..Or I could make my own….
Bethany @ Accidental Intentions
I’ve never been much of a gamer in any sense–video games, computer games, etc.–but I am OBSESSED with 2048. I’ve been playing for a month now and STILL haven’t won. Some day…
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
I love that dip! I can only ever find it at Costco around here though, so whenever I buy it I have to eat a TON of it and get a little sick of it. The jalepeno one is amazing…and I promise it’s not too spicy π Favourite kind of dip? Probably salsa or hummus.
Do I game? Yup…is it bad that I’m considering investing in a desktop computer (as soon as I can afford it) for the sole purpose of being able to get The Sims 4? And I finished Fallout 3 on XBOX 360 and am currently hooked on Fallout New Vegas…ya, I like my video games.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Is it a horrible thing that I’ve never actually played The Sims before? Do I need to change this? Can I afford another video game addiction? π―
Davida @ The Healthy Maven
NEVER HAD TZAZIKI BEFORE?! Glad that was replicated!! Love that suff.
Jen @ Pretty Little Grub
You had some great recipes this month. And I agree with a lot of your top makeup choices.
meredith @ The Cookie ChRUNicles
Oh how I used to love sweet and sour sauce from McDonalds! The best. I keep meaning to pick up a packet and then try to replicate my own at home. Something tells me it can never be as good as the real thing.
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More
Those rice krispie stuffed dates, how did I miss those?! WHOA BABY!
Cassie
I have never seen taziki dip before but now I feel like I’ve been missing out! Highlight of June was definitely my Portland trip, followed by seeing Jay-Z and Beyonce this weekend!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
You too!??! Okay, Davs was giving me a hard time for it, so I’m glad I’m not the only one π
Julie @ Coastal Runner Girl
Oh wow, so many great recipes to ‘pin’!!
Hmm I’d say my Baby Shower was a pretty awesome thing that happened in June π
Favorite dip is guacomole!
Lucie@FitSwissChick
You definitely are my recipe queen!! So much goodness in your kitchen, I really, REALLY want to move in with you!!
I LOVE Hummus and Tzatziki. Two of my favorite dips, but c’mon – there’s nothing that can beat dipping stuff in AB or chocolate sauce….. π
Beginning of June was my vacation in Spain – definitely a BIG highlight.
Jo @ Living Mint Green
Oooh favorite dipping sauce, eh? It’s a tie between hummus and guacamole. I eat them both daily. I tried sweet potato hummus yesterday!
Best part of June? Probably that time I went on a helicopter tour of the mountains. Hands down, one of the most amazing things I’ve done.
Sarah @ Feeeding the Brain and Body
I love chias in my oats but haven’t had them in ages! It’s always fun changing things up a bit so maybe I will try some again. I don’t know why but I normally tend to splurge on cosmetics in the fall but don’t buy much in the summer and spring. It may be because I don’t wear as much in the summer and my complexion is a completely different shade!
Kelly @ Kelly Runs for Food
All your beauty goodies are reminding me that I need to get some new makeup in my life. Also, love the nut thins. I’ve bought them a few times and the box always disappears in like a day!
Bridget
I LOVE mac’s mineralized skinfinish! It is my absolute favorite beauty product right now!
An awesome thing that happened in June is that I moved to Chicago (where I grew up)! My favorite dip has to be classic hummus. I have a weakness for dipping pretzels into hummus! So salty and delish! As far as video games are concerned, I am terrible at them. I do, however, love retro video games! I actually played paperboy on Super Nintendo last night!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I miss the old school video games like crazy! I actually still have my Nintendo and Super Nintendo hooked up so I can play them every now and again π And have you ever tried dipping pretzels into nut butter? Crazy addictive.
Bridget
Both of mine are plugged in too!!! I have not tried pretzels with almond butter… But guess what I’ll be snacking on today!!!!! Thanks for the idea!
Alex@Veggin' Out
I’m obsessed with nut thins too. I even have my mom hooked on them!
Tzatziki is definitely one of my favorite dips. When I was in Greece several summers ago, I ordered it at least once everyday and would eat a big bowl of it with pita bread as my meal. π
You came up with some pretty fantastic recipes this month, but I especially have my eye on those almond butter and jelly muffins!
Lauren
Amanda, your photos of food make it look like I can just pick a muffin off the screen – brilliant. Ah I so wish I could do that right now! Chia seeds in porridge are so good – hello volume and fluffiness! Best dip is guac without a doubt, closely followed by a thick home made hummus!
p.s. I cannot believe we are half way through the year. I need to start sorting my life out before Oz – scary!!
Michele @ paleorunningmomma
Your photos are all incredible. I think my favorite dip is either guacamole or some version of my homemade mayo, maybe the ranch kind. I’ve always been into ranch and paleo hasn’t stopped me!
Shashi @ runninsrilankan
You had some seriously good eats coming out of your kitchen – those muffins – that cheesecake – those dates! And some great ones for Savory Style.
My fav dip currently is hummus and tomato paste – so yum – and snacking on it helps keep my mild addiction to Bejeweled Blitz at bay π
Yikes – I cannot believe Christmas is 6 months away – time is flying by at warp speed! June marked my 1 year blogiversary and also was the month I registered for my very first food blogger conference!
Hope your week is off to a wonderful start! xx
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I can’t believe you’ve only been blogging for a year! You’re a pro π And which blogger conference are you going to be going to?!?
Shashi @ RunninSrilankan
Thanks sweet lady!
I will be going to TECHmunch http://techmunchconf.com/ – in September – Any chance you will be going?
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I don’t think so π I’ve never even heard of that one, but it sounds like it’s going to be good! I wish we had some conferences like that up here in Canada…
