Aaaaand cue the Friday happy dance! 😀
Although I have to admit that the fact that it’s Friday is somewhat bittersweet for me – it just means that it’ll be time to head back home soon, and I’m not quite sure that I’m ready to say goodbye to BC…
IÂ am, however, ready to say goodbye to extended periods of sitting in the car, especially when they involve driving on a “highway” that’s so twisty and hilly that the max speed in a lot of stretches is about 40 kph (25 mph). And I wouldn’t mind having access to a kitchen again… As tasty as food on the road can be, there’s something to be said about a warm home-cooked meal, especially around this time of the year.
I was browsing through my recipes here on Spoons the other day, when I realized that a good chunk of them are centered around fall flavours. Apparently, I just get inspired to get back into the kitchen around this time of the year, so I thought I’d put together a small collection of my fall recipes in case you find yourself itching to spend some time in a warm, cozy kitchen as the weather starts to cool off, too.

Oh gosh I love fall flavors. Ok I lied, I just love hot food. I’m seriously dreaming of the days when all I eat is soup and oats and sip tea or coffee. I’m so weird. I have to admit though Im not really a pumpkin soup or chili kinda girl. I have actually never tried a squash soup so maybe I’d like that, but for some reason I prefer my pumpkin in a more sugary form like in breads, muffins, drinks, ect.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
You could have plenty of hot food days if you lived up in Canada 😉 It’s seriously not even a problem to eat that kind of food in the middle of summer.
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
I need to check out your soup recipe – I’ve been craving a good pumpkin soup lately or squash soup lately! And homemade applesauce is one of the many awesome things that you’ve led me too…I’m still trying to get through all that applesauce from HLS so I can make some homemade.
Liz @ I Heart Vegetables
The sweet potato fries and that chocolate chip pumpkin bread have both caught my eye!
katie

Danica @ It's Progression
Everything looks so good! I may need to try that pumpkin pie breakfast bake soon…yum!
Giselle@myhealthyhappyhome
Oh my everything looks so good! I want to make it all! I’m with you on riding in the car. I never used to mind it too much and actually drove across country from Northern Cali to the Florida Keys but now I hate it! I get car sick and so bored! Safe travels home!
Arman @ thebigmansworld
Your pictures are AMAZING. Seriously- I regret only doing Toronto when I visited Canada! Oh well, next year 😉
Tonight on the menu is take 3 of the pumpkin tortilla pizza – and I will be incredibly careful with the camera (it smells like hummus now). And as for food prep for next week- the chocolate chip pumpkin bread looks like a winner! Savour the last few moments in scenic serenity 😉
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Toronto is the only place I visited in Eastern Canada, but I have to say that the West coast is kind of gorgeous 😉 And I still can’t help but laugh over the fact that you dropped your camera in hummus. Foodie probs…
Kelly @ Kelly Runs for Food
These all look so good! That pumpkin spice breakfast bake, especially. I love fall recipes too! I never get all that excited about cooking in the summer, but in the fall I’m all about it!
Julie
All the recipes look so good – lots of pumpkin-y goodness.
Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves
Holy moly this is a lot of fall goodness in one post. I absolutely love the warm, comforting flavors of fall, and you have incorporated them in some genius recipes! Thank you for all of them!
Angela @ Health's Angel
…So now I need to make, like, all of these? 🙂 Everything looks so good! Fall has some of the best flavors so cooking/baking inspiration around now makes perfect sense to me.
Enjoy the rest of your trip!
lindsay
i hope you are going to be making all these for you man, and when you do, can we come over? I’ll bring you PB FREE nuttzo! hehe
stretch those legs, car rides are tough. ENjoy the scenery!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
PB free Nutzo? I’ll set a couple of extra places at the table 😉
Melanie @ BeautifullyNutty
I WILL be making those sweet potato fries this fall. They look amazing!!
morgan
I am living vicariously through your beautiful BC travel photos 🙂 thanks for sharing fall in the kitchen with us- I will be working some of the recipes into my meal prep tomorrow!
Kim @ Hungry Healthy Girl
I’m so glad that you posted this because everything looks delicious and I’m going to be trying some of these recipes immediately! Just in time for my grocery haul tomorrow. Travel safe coming home.
Ashley @ Eat Run Live Happy
I love eating out on vacation but usually after the second day, I’m ready for a nice healthy home cooked meal!
Annie
I made your goat cheese and honey muffins the other day and omg, sooooo delicious! I think next time I’ll put a bit more goat cheese in or a stronger one but they are really good!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Thanks for sharing, Annie! I’m glad you liked them 🙂
Ari @ Ari's Menu
Those muffins are totally calling my name!
Lauren
My favorite baked goods are in the fall. Comfort cakes and breads > crisps + meringues any day! I tried to make a pumpkin scramble this weekend and it came out less than steller. I’ll have to try to copy you recipe step by step! And I’m a huge fan of road trips but the first meal I want when I come home is ALWAYS oatmeal. It never fails.
I wish I could take a road trip to you!!! LOL only 36 hours away.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Oh girl, you don’t even know how bad I’m missing oatmeal right now. Well… maybe you do 😉 But absence seriously does make the heart grow fonder.
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries
Once again, your photography just amazes me! I know you said you’re “just getting the hang of it”, but it looks like you have the hang of it to me. 😉
Happy Friday!
Davida @ The Healthy Maven
Those sweet potato fries are getting pinned and made ASAP!!!! I need a pinterest board just for your recipes. Seriously where did you get your talent?!?! Hope you’re enjoying the vacation!!!
Laura Agar Wilson (@lauraagarwilson)
Yummers! I need to try the pumpkin mexican scramble, I’ve been loving just a basic pumpkin scramble for breakfast and I can see how well it would work with added veggies, beans and spices!
Sarah @ Making Thyme for Health
BC looks beautiful! I hope you plan to share more pictures. Oh, and thanks for converting to mph! 😉
I am drooling over everything on this page. It’s like an explosion of yumminess!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I’m definitely planning on sharing! I just have waaaay too many pictures to go through, so I want to be able to actually sit down and go through them.
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl
Those sweet potato fries are making me SO hungry and it’s not even 9 a.m.!! 😉
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat
Sitting in a car for long periods of time is definitely no fun!
I’m totally with you on a home cooked meal! Eating out everyday definitely gets old quickly!
Well, you’re totally a girl after my own heart with all these fall recipes! Guess I have a lot of pinning to do! 😉
Enjoy the rest of your BC getaway Amanda!
Kelsey @ Ramblings of Change
I honestly need to try every one of these recipes – I’m a lover of fall, hands down! Hope you have a safe rest of your trip and drive home as well. Keep on snacking away!
Khushboo
Totally trying that baked apple cinnamon oatmeal- no surprise that it caught my eye ASAP :)! Hope the drive back home is smooth- not long till you can Greek yogurt & applesauce fix….having a bowl right now on your behalf ;)!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
That’s actually what I’ve been having for breakfast more often than not 😆 I’m mostly missing my oatmeal… and kabocha!
Christine @ Gotta Eat Green
That pumpkin pie breakfast bake looks heavenly. Oh and homemade apple sauce is a must make for this time of year.. obviously.
Beth @ Mangoes and Miles
Those mountains. Take me there. Please and thank you. 😛 If I had easy access to grocery shopping and a kitchen, I would definitely be in there making like half of these. Especially those sweet potato fries! One of the things I miss terribly about being at home.
Alex @ Kenzie Life
Enjoy the rest of your trip! I can’t wait to see pictures so I hope you post some upon your return! I love homemade applesauce so I’ll have to try your recipe!
Elizabeth @ my neon running shoes
Uh YUM!!!! I want you to come cook for me. Just detour to Texas on your way back. Thanks 😉
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
😆 That would probably be something like a 1.5 week detour.
Ashley @ Life and Fitness
Yay I love everything about fall. I want to try to make the pumpkin chocolate chip bread! That sounds deeeeelicious.
Hollie
I really like fall flavors like baked apples. I made those a lot a couple of years ago when I was back up north. Everything looks really good. (You know I’m still eye balling those goal cheese muffins).
Mary
I love cooking at this time of year too, there’s something about knocking up something in the kitchen with the oven on and eating a nice hot dinner after work! 🙂 I’m not a fan of cooked apple, so that writes off lots of recipes for me, but your pumpkin recipes look great! I’m at work at the moment, but planning to pin them when I get home! 🙂
Jo @ Living Mint Green
You went to Blendz!!!! JEALOUS. I hear their hot chocolate is to die for!
I hope you’re having a great time on the coast – did you happen to meet up with Lisa?! I feel so excluded from all of these blend meet ups! 😉 😀
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Apparently Blendz is pretty famous for their hot chocolate, but I just had a cappuccino… which was all sorts of amazing. And I haven’t met up with Lisa yet because we ended up driving to Tofino first. Headed to Victoria today, though, so I’m hoping to see her when we get there 🙂
Ashley {Whole Foods New Body}
They all look fabulous! I am definitely try the fig & date bars soon!!
Ksenija @ Health Ninja
Holidays are always passing way too fast. I also feel sad thinking about Monday and going back home to my usual routine. But today it’s time to enjoy the sunshine and also visit a museum for a necessary portion of culture and art. Your apple and pumpkin soup sounds amazing. I will definitely make this soon! Enjoy the remaining time you have in BC and bring a lot of pictures back home.
Shashi @ http://runninsrilankan.com
Gawsh girl – this is one heck of a tastebud tintilating, visually teasing post!
I feel I can almost smell the pumpkin!!! Oh wait, I have some pumpkin endamame’s infront of me 🙂
BC looks gorgeous thru your clicks! So totally understand your need to puttering around in your kitchen again – hoping you enjoy your time with family, it is always so precious!
Lisa
I was literally going to put up the same title for a post today, but decided to wait a bit.
Almost twins 😉
You have SO many awesome Fall recipes. I definitely need to try out the apple pumpkin soup, pumpkin muffins, sweet potato fries, okay maybe all of it.
Glad you’re enjoying your time in BC so far! I think I take living here for granted sometimes.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I would seriously move here in a heartbeat… and I haven’t even seen Victoria yet!
