Hey guys! How’s your weekend looking so far?
Things have been pretty quiet around these parts. I’ve been feeling a bit off for the past couple of days so I’ve been taking it easy in hopes that whatever it is that’s trying to attack my system takes a hike. I haven’t been sick in roughly six years and I plan on continuing that streak for at least another six. Away, plague! Be gone! I think I’m in the clear, but I’m not counting my chickens just yet. Keep your fingers crossed for me? Thank ya 😀
And speaking of thanks, I really appreciate your guys’ input on my latest eating experiment. If you’re a chronic, insatiable snacker, I highly recommend you go check out the comments in that post- a lot of people shared their experiences with bulking up main meals in an effort to cut down the constant feelings of hunger and saw good results. It’s still a bit too early to tell how it’s going for me, but I’ll be sure to give you a progress report after I’ve been at it for a little while longer.
In the meantime, how about a survey? It feels like it’s been forever since my last one, and I’m kind of going through withdrawals. I saw this one over on Heather’s blog the other day and couldn’t help but ninja it. Hope you enjoy!
. – . – . – .
Current books: Right now I’m reading The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Three words – Ah.Maze.Ing. Easily going on my list of favorite books.
Current music: Laces Out by USS… as long as you can get past the first 10 seconds.
[youtube=”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZ4CqjnflLY&w=560&h=315″]
Current guilty pleasure: Playing far too much Warcraft. Spending all day in my PJ’s. Cheesy 80’s music…
Current nail color: Essie’s Fiji. It’s my go-to polish when I can’t decide on one.
Current drink: Hot Cinnamon Spice tea – my favorite tea and the first thing I make every.single.day.
Current food: I’m about halfway through a breakfast of: plain Greek yogurt mixed with a banana, blueberries, Kashi Cinnamon harvest, cinnamon, and roasted almond butter. I used up my last banana this morning which means it’s time to go shopping – an absence of bananas is a tragedy around these parts.
Current favorite show: I always feel a bit strange when this question pops up because I don’t really have one. I see everyone raving about the start of The Bachelor and The Biggest Loser, but I spend most of my free time either reading or playing WoW. My TV was getting such little use that I ended up cancelling my cable subscription a little while back and I can’t even say that I’ve noticed.
Current wish list: I’m pretty set after Christmas and my birthday, but I wouldn’t mind this puzzle finishing itself. Stupid white pieces that all look the same…
Current needs: Sleep. Always sleep.
Current triumphs: Doing the laundry. I’m one of those people that puts it off as long as possible, and it’s usually a lack of socks or underwear that forces me to finally do it.
Current bane of my existence: Winter. The cold. Snow. Clouds. Although I suppose it can be quite pretty to look at… as long as you can do so from inside.
Current celebrity crush: Johnny Depp. Always Johnny.
Current indulgence: Cookies. Especially when I use them to spoil my appetite; although let’s be real – that never actually happens. Mom, you were lying to me all those years!
Current blessing: Too many to count, which is a blessing in itself.
Current slang: Snarky: A word that should be googled to find the definition as per direction from Dane Cook. It means short tempered or irritable. “He was being very snarky with me. Yeah, snarky. It’s a word, google it.” – Dane Cook
Current excitement: Going to the mountains next weekend to do some snowboarding. Squee!
Current mood: It’s still too early in the day to tell. I’ll get back to you on that one!
Current link: Pinterest. Dratted time sink…

Have you gotten sick this winter or have you managed to avoid it so far?
At this very moment what are you…
1) … eating or craving?
2) … doing or supposed to be doing?
3) … listening to?
Karla @ myhighonlife
Keep fighting off that cold! Love the fact that you said ‘having blessings is a blessing itself’.. simple, beautiful & often overlooked.
A fun survey. Let’s see… I am currently reading blogs but should be doing work.
And favorite song is probably JT’s new “Suit and Ties”… guilty guilty pleasure. 🙂
Jessica
Glad to hear you’re life is going smoothly and well at the moment. 🙂
1) Currently drinking coffee but craving french toast! 😉
2) Probably supposed to be doing some CV updating etc but actually reading blogs.
3) Silence. No music and debating whether to pop the news on (all about the Royal baby) or the food channel! Hard choice…
Hope you have a wonderful week!
Kat
Love this 🙂 But I dont love that you arent feeling well!! Hopefully its just something minor and it passes quickly!
Currently I am drinking a big mug of coffee since its only 6:14 in the am over here 🙂 Its stinkin Monday…when I woke up I totally thought it was still the weekend. How depressing is that?!
Meghan @ After the Ivy League
At this very moment I’m supposed to be…working. haha. A trip to go snowboarding sounds awesome! I have plans to go skiing up in Maine this weekend and I’m beyond psyched. Bring on the winter sports 🙂
Laura
1). Drinking coffee. Craving coffee. Problem solved.
2). I probablyyyy should be getting ready for work. It’s my first day at my full time job, and I’m choosing blogs and coffee over getting ready. Oh well.
3). There’s no music on right now. I can hear my mom vacuuming downstairs (we’re getting a new boiler today). Actually, most mornings all I CAN hear is my mom blasting through some form of chore that doesn’t need to be done at 6am. Oh mom…
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Vacuuming at 6 AM? Oh dear. And here I thought I was kind of a clean freak for starting my chores at 8 on the weekends. Okay wait… that does sound pretty bad 😕
Sara @my less serious life
ahhh the dreaded no banana tragedy! girl i thought you must have like 10 bananas at your house at all times. i restocked, myself, and feel MUCH better…
Jessie
What a fun survey. I may have to do this one tomorrow =) If I lived near you, I’d so come over & do your laundry!! I actually love doing laundry.. weird maybe?? Mountains next weekend to snowboard? How fun!!
Currently Eating: Blueberry Banana Smoothie
Currently Listening: The music video in this post
Should be doing: Whateverrrrr I want
p.s. praying that you don’t get sick!!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I would love you forever if you did! I don’t mind actually doing laundry (aka: throwing it in the washer), but folding and putting away? Bah!
Sara @ Nourish and Flourish
I’m with ya on the lingering almost-cold thing. I’ve been feeling it for the past week and a half, yet it hasn’t fully developed (knock on wood!). I’ve been pumping in the vitamin C (love those fizzy Airborne tablets!), and sipping so much hot tea, I’m running to the bathroom every 30 minutes. Hey, it’s totally worth the sacrifice if it works. 😉
I love the Essie Fiji color you’re wearing! One of my go-to Essie colors is French Affair. I’m not sure if it’s merely the color itself that I’m in love with, or if the name has something to do with it as well. 😉
Currently eating: Lindt dark chocolate with sea salt. It never gets old!
Ashley @ AlmostVegGirlie
I will probably be stealing this soon–I can never pass up a fun survey!
I love your nail color. I tend to go for the obnoxious colors like coral and hot pink but I’m thinking the more muted shades will be appreciated once I get a big girl job. For now I’m just enjoying the fun bright shades!
Hope you feel better soon!
Albizia
I simply love winter and I’m trying to convince people how awesome it is even though I’m constantly freezing 🙂 And I don’t really get sick unless somebody is kind enough to pass it to me so I just try to enjoy the beauty of winter. You’re a northern girl, you should know how to do this 😉
At this very moment what are you…
1) … eating or craving? – Just finished that scrumptious roasted garlic chicken I bought yesterday and I want more. Your eats still make me drool though.
2) … doing or supposed to be doing? – Being lazy because it’s a holiday and catching up on blog reading 🙂
3) … listening to? – Daughtry’s album Break the Spell. I might have caught the love virus *blush*
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I should know how to enjoy the beauty of winter, and I used to when I was younger, but I think I’ve forgotten over the years. Maybe I just need to start building forts and snowmen more often 😀
Kate
WINTER IS THE BANE OF MY EXISTANCE TOO RIGHT NOW!!! It’s ten degrees outside. farenheight. Oh my god I can’t deal lol. Lucky you get to go do some snowboarding though! Also, I need to start reading your blog in the morning because every time I see the picture of your breakfast, it makes me hungry. Maybe it’ll work as a bedtime snack! 😉 You’re right about the cookies too. I think they are appetite stimulants haha 😀 I really hope you kick this bug and start feeling better soon – that’s an EPIC amount of time to not be sick, definitely something to be proud of!!
lindsay
i currently need some cookies and some cinnamon hot tea. Actually i am enjoying the banana cream pie tea from Davids Tea thanks to YOU.
Angela
I always need to watch TV when I eat! Do you enjoy your meals by themselves? I find it incredibly boring to eat by myself like that .. when I’m at home I love to enjoy the company of my family while I’m eating though.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Noooo, I definitely can’t just sit with my food and not do anything while I’m eating – I’m usually on the computer or reading.
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin
I hope you don’t get sick! I haven’t been sick in years either – it’s weird! But I’m not complaining. I’m sending good thoughts your way. 🙂
Currently I’m eating Dijon chicken (http://www.bonappetit.com/recipes/2012/08/chicken-breasts-dijon) with roasted brussels sprouts and wild rice. And I’m craving chocolate! So you know what I’m having for dessert. 😉
And currently what I’m doing is watching the Golden Globes. Although I should be working on my internship cover letters… but there’s always tomorrow for that!
And obviously I’m not listening to it right now since I’m watching the GGs, but lately I’ve been listening to Patrick Park. Love him!
Matt @ The Athlete's Plate
Amen to the cookies 🙂
Chelsie S
I knew I couldn’t be the only one who misses Dane Cook. Still my favourite stand-up.
And my clothes are STILL in the dryer. A week later. And I might have put the next load through the washer and into the dryer with the old load that was still in there … I hate folding. But I promise I’ll do it tonight. After dinner. And blogging. Maybe. 😉
It was 10C here yesterday and rained all day today and was nearly as warm. Those snowbanks that were taller than me? Barely mid shin. There is an incredible amount of water EVERYWHERE.
Miss you, hope all is well. And I reallllly hope that those white pieces sort themselves out. In essence, that puzzle can totally be a metaphor for ED recovery. Even though we may have the picture mostly put together, it’s those random pieces that are keeping us from truly being whole. Just a thought. 🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Well way to get all philosophical on me 😛 But I finished my puzzle, so I guess that’s a good thing? 🙂
Lauren
I hate, hate, HATE when you feel a cold coming on… It’s like awaiting doom. Haha. You just start getting sniffles than you start freaking out because you MIGHT be sick. Suddenly, everything starts hurting… Haha.
Mmm. I love me some Johnny Depp. No one else could look as good with eyeliner as he does in Pirates of the Carribean.
Andrea @Pencils and Pancakes
I agree- lack of bananas is a serious issue!!! Must always have them on hand.
Elizabeth@myneonrunningshoes
I am MAKING that beautiful breakfast this week. Wow it looks so good! And your photography rocks. Teach me!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
But if you were as good at photography as you are at all those crafty things then you’d totally put me to shame 😛
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl
I absolutely love that nail polish. I have been looking for a simple color that is classy and “goes with everything.” I truly believe that often times, less is more. I hope to try this philosophy out in my next nail polish color ;). I will HAVE 😉 to buy that nail polish, or one in a similar color.
Feel better! Hopefully it is nothing and you will be feeling as good as new ASAP!
Brittany
I was sick for a little over a week last month and it was awful! Right now I am loving the lumineers, and old crow medicine show. I love your nail color.
Jessy
Summer is my favourite season, but I’m currently loving winter because the winter wonderland makes for very beautiful photos. 🙂 The last few weeks were very warm and almost autumn-like, but this morning I woke up to snow and I love it!
Do you live alone or do you have flatmates?
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I live alone. I’m pretty sure that I wouldn’t be able to handle having roommates at this point – I need my space and a guarantee that no one will steal the last banana 😆
Lisa
Yay, another survey. How I adore these. You know I’m going to have to steal this one from you:) I know that we are total twins on the sleep thing! It’s bizarre how much my sleeping habits have changed from when I was really stuck in my ED. I seriously woke up SO early and went to bed at 9. Now I can stay up until 2 and well still get up around 6 ha. Oops. Have fun snowboarding! I’ve also been wanting to e-mail you, so maybe expect one from me soon:) Also I’m a NUT for puzzles. I love them, but it drives me absolutely insane if I can’t fill it all out. I’d seriously stay up all night to finish it.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Looking forward to hearing from you, girlie! And I’m almost done this one, thankfully, so I don’t think I’ll have to stay up all night doing it. But there have been some days where I just couldn’t stop and ended up staying up way too late 😆
Sara @ fitcupcaker
I like these current posts, good idea 🙂 Love the nails 🙂
Devon @ Health in Equilibrium
Ah, the dreaded white pieces. I think that THOSE were the bane of my existence. It’s so crazy how it is 11 degrees here today and all our snow has melted and you guys have crazy winter over there. That’s a reason I’m not sorry I don’t live in Alberta, although I am super jealous of your proximity to the mountains. They are my favourite landscapes on earth! If I could live out my days at a tea house in Lake Louise, I would jump at the chance 🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I love the mountains too, but I think I’d give them up for some warmer weather. I mean, not being able to enjoy being outside for ~5 months of the year? Not my idea of a good time.
Andrea
Ooh have fun snowboarding! One of the only good things about winter it seems. Right now I am craving some hot tea, gonna have to go make some! I’m supposed to be ordering my textbooks for the semester right now (classes start tomorrow, oops..) And I am listening to an extremely loud ringing in my ear thanks to an ear infection : ( Here’s to hoping you don’t get sick too! Have a great Sunday, Amanda!
Miss Polkadot
Oh my, I’d be so stuck with that puzzle, too! How many pieces does it have?
Yes to winter being the bane of my existence at the moment, too. The year started far too warm for winter – which I appreciated – and now the season’s catching up with the cold temperatures.
I did get kind of sick in December and have been feeling a bit off since Friday. Fingers crossed I’ll manage to be able to write my first exam tomorrow. Just want to be done with that!
What I should be doing is, well, study and what I am doing … uh, procrastinating? Okay, off to revise my index cards.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
The puzzle has 1000 pieces, so it’s not too, too bad. Good luck with your exam tomorrow, and I hope you don’t get sick either!
Liz (formerly VeggieGirl)
I hope you feel 100% better soon!!
At this moment/currently, I’m listening to the dialogue in the movie “Pillow Talk.” 1959 classic.
Hayley @ Running on Pumpkin
Love love love that Essie polish. In fact, I love most Essie polishes. I am also going to the mountains next weekend to snowboard! Wish we were going to the same mountain so we could meet up!!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Ahh that would be the coolest thing ever! Unfortunately, it’s a little far 🙁
Hollie
I want to learn to love the snow…maybe by snowboarding. I really like that nail color, I’m currently deciding on a neutral one myself. I like OPI versus Essie but honestly it’s because I got some OPI before Essie and it was just first come first serve to my heart LOL…whatever that means…
Lucie@FitSwissChick
I love the song I listened all way through and it’s totally my taste. YEAH!
I will eat scallops in an hour. This hour will be very long. And I am sipping on some prosecco in front of my PC (to tide over this hour). #sorrynotsorry. Not sick since??? I can’t remember when I was sick the last time, I don’t get sick (touch wood) – and I should iron! The pile of laundry stares at me every day and it gets bigger which means it scares me even more to start. I might just ignore it, maybe it disappears? Wishful thinking….
YAY for snowboarding!! Have fun girl, I should ride the Swiss mountains pretty soon too.
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
I will be eating sushi in about an hour! Although I just did the spoil-my-appetite thing…except with brownie batter. Oops. :-p
I’m wish you in the cable thing. Minus a few shows that I get online, I don’t really miss having it around.
Alex @ therunwithin
snarky and janky two words I use way too much, snark though is one of my favorites. I am totally digging that puzzle. I used to do them all the time with my family, dog ones were always our favorite.I hope you are not getting sick! ps, why do you always have the best music I have never heard of???? love it
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
The best music? Because I (read: we) have good taste 😉
Sarah @PickyRunner
Oh wow what a fun survey! I’m not actually craving anything right now. That’s a first 🙂
I hope you can fend off that sickness!! It’s not fun at all. I haven’t been sick in years either. I think the last time was when I was a freshman in high school… sooo 6 years? I’m supposed to be taking a shower right now so I can go to my brother’s game but naturally I got caught up in blogs again. oops 😉
[email protected].
I did get sick this winter. For 3 weeks I battled cold after cold and one short flu – I got the flu shot and haven’t been sick since! It was awful!
Right now I am listening to the Dark Knight Rises soundtrack and craving some chocolate chip cookies that I just baked 😉
Karey @ Nutty About Health
The winter is currently the bane of my existence too. HATE it. I agree, it’s ok to look at from indoors, but other than that… forget it.
I’m currently perusing Twitter (huge time sucker), but should be cleaning. Craving another cup of Cinnamon Sugar Cookie flavored coffee… yum. Listening to some old Saturday Night Live episodes in the background on tv.
Have a great day!!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Cinnamon Sugar Cookie flavored coffee?!?! Omigosh that sounds amazing.
Caitlin
Fingers crossed you don’t get sick! I’ve been fighting something for roughly 3.5 weeks now…I’ll be fine one day and wake up with a sore throat/congestion the next…fine two days later and then wake up again sick…getting pretty old I must say, but I think the biggest thing I need right now is that same thing you do..sleep/rest! My biggest problem thing to get too haha…right now I am drinking tea (just finished a breakfast of eggs and an english muffin with a few frozen powerberries for dessert so I am not craving anything at the moment…give it five minutes and I’ll have an answer), I am drying my hair and reading blogs so that I can get my bum home for the day with my family (running late as usual), and I am not listening to anything since I’m drying my hair but will resume watching gossip girl after it is dry while I finish getting ready! Have a great Sunday, huN 🙂
Olivia @ Life As Liv
I hope you beat this semi-sickness and uphold that 6 year (are you kidding me???) sick free streak! That’s incredible. I’m going to have to copy you with that nail polish color–it’s the perfect shade of pink! Gotta love all of the Essie products, they have the best colors ever. Also, I’m a huge fan of Johnny Depp as well (swoon) and he actually just moved into a house down the street from one of my sorority sisters. We’re currently planning a visit to her hometown just to “run” into him (aka stalk him). The plan is, he’ll see me, confess his love for me, and we’ll live happily ever after. 😉
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Promise to invite me to the wedding [so that he can see me, confess his love for me, and I can steal him away]? 😉
Jun
I’m with you on this one. I think I desperately need to get in more sleep. Right this moment I’m trying to fall asleep but am having a terribly hard time doing so because I’m too excited that college’s starting tomorrow!
And it’s amazing that you know how to snowboard. SO cool.
Have a great week ahead of you!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I always used to get so excited before the first day of school. Hope it’s a good one for you! 🙂
Khushboo
You know I love me a good survey- reading as much as filling one out! Hope you don’t mind if I steal this sometime soon :)! Some of my currents till then:
Currently eating: a square of Lindt Dark with Sea Salt (although I’m suddenly craving a yogurt bowl & I have you to thank)
Currently Doing: catching up on blogs- Sunday night relaxation!
Currently listening to: I just found a whole bunch of old school music on my laptop so right now I have R Kelly’s “She’s Got That Vibe” playing…what a classic!
Oh and I’m very impressed at how far along you’ve come with that puzzle! Hope you’re having a great weekend, Amanda!
