March 14, 2016 by Amanda @ .running with spoons. 90 Comments

So Daylight Savings whooped.my.butt.

I completely forgot about it when I woke up in the morning, so when I looked my phone and saw that it was 4:30am (I know), I figured it was a decent time to get up (again… I know) without realizing that it was actually only 3:30am from the old time. It wasn’t until I walked into the kitchen and looked at the clock on my microwave that I realized my mistake, and by that time there was no going back – I was wide awake. That makes two days in a row of waking up at 3am, so if I seem a bit off (at least more so than usual), that’s probably why.

Oddly enough, I still had a pretty freaking awesome day yesterday and even managed to knock a few more things off the project list. I’m already preparing to crash and burn at some point today 😂

And because I’m operating on about 8 hours of sleep over the past 48, I figured it was as good a time as any to whip out a Currently post and let you guys in on what’s up with life in March…

Currently

Current book: I’m currently bookless 😥 I still read every night before I go to sleep, but it’s usually just a handful of random pages from a book I’ve already read. I don’t even really have anything on my reading list at the moment. Maybe I should look into the Outlander series? I’ve heard pretty good things about those books… Let me know if you’ve read them!

Current music: Cheap Thrills by Sia. And I’m actually listening to it on repeat as I write this.

[youtube=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1b22l1kFKY&w=640&h=427″]

Current [non]-guilty pleasure: You guys are gonna think I’m nuts, but… planning and organizing. I kind of have a lot tonne on my plate right now, and I’m pretty sure that my planners, calendars, and spreadsheets are the only things standing between me and full-blown crazy at this point…

All My Planning

Current drink: Apple cider vinegar cocktails. And by “cocktails” I mean a spoonful of ACV mixed in a bunch of water. I’ve been drinking this daily for a few months now, and maybe it’s just a placebo effect, but I’m feeling pretty darn good. And as strange as it sounds, I actually find it pretty tasty and refreshing.

Current food: Huuuuuge salads. I finally fell back into the rhythm of eating these things regularly again, and I don’t hate it.

Loaded Lunch Salad

Current obsession: Snapchat filters. If anyone ever saw me Snapchatting in my car, I’m pretty sure they’d think I was “special” because of how much time I spend making faces at my phone. Top right — I can’t EVEN 😂

Snapchatting Filters

Snapchat –> runningspoons

Current craving: A little bit of sun. It’s been a lot of doom and gloom around these parts for the last little while, and I wouldn’t mind feeling a bit of warmth on my skin.

Moody Mountains

Current need: I also wouldn’t mind a bit of colour on my skin. Girlfriend is looking pale AF, which means it’s probably time to bust out the sunless tanner and start working on that base tan before Hawaii…

St Tropez Tanning Lotion

Current indulgence: Fresh flowers. Because why not.

Fresh Spring Flowers

Current bane of my existence: A freezer so stuffed full of baked goods that it literally can’t take any more. Anyone wanna come help a girl out??

Current procrastination: Let’s just say that a haircut certainly wouldn’t hurt my hair. I can’t even remember the last time I went in for a trim, and I keep putting it off because I honestly have no idea what I want to do with it. I’m very tempted to hack some of it off and go with a lob (long bob). We’ll see.

Current confession: I eat Easter candy way before Easter. It’s one of the perks of being an adult and not having to wait for the Easter bunny to come around. Jellies4Lyfe.

Easter Jelly Beans

Current quote: Amen…

Mother Teresa Quote

Current excitement: TWO WEEKS UNTIL HAWAII!!!! Sorry for the caps… except not really because I’M FREAKING EXCITED!!!!

Maui Ocean Views

Big Maui Waves

Maui Surfers

Turtles in Maui

Black Sand Beach

Gorgeous Maui Sunset

Current mood: Is tired a mood? Because that’s what I currently am. It’s 9:30pm on Sunday night and I think it’s time to hit the hay… hopefully without another 3am wakeup call.

It’s sunny here, usually around 50 -70 degrees (seriously, last week ) but windy!! I’m just finishing up The Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer, absolutely love it! Next on the TBR list are the Shadowhunters series by Cassandra Clare, Passenger, Alice in Wonderland, The Alchemist, The Pilgrimage and Harry Potter.

I’m with you on the planner front. I’m obsessed with planners on a normal day, but lately between everyday life craziness and trying to plan a wedding that’s rapidly approaching I feel the same as you – without my planners (yes, that is plural), I would probably have already gone crazy.

I sure wish I could help you out with those baked goods! It would be an excellent excuse to meet you and have a legitimate reason aside from being a weird fangirl. 😆 And ah, I feel you on the sun!! After two weeks of nearly constant rain in California (which didn’t seem fair to this rain satiated Washington girl), I come back home and it’s still raining…🌧 Sun, please???

I’ve been having the opposite sleep problem: I wake up at my usual 5:30am, but I magically can’t fall asleep anymore. I never have issues with that, but right now, I’m seeing 1am much more often than I’d like, especially seeing as I’m usually out by 10pm 😛 I hope you start sleeping better!
    Current…
    a) book: Nada right now. But I’ve been seeing some good stuff about “You Are a Badass”, so that might be on my agenda? Who knows?

    b) food: Homemade burrito bowls. I was recipe testing and made a huge batch of one-pan burrito bowls a few weeks ago and froze the leftovers. It’s been making for nice, easy meals lately!

    c) obsession: Yoga. It’s a sanity-saver.

    d) bane of existence: Finals. But I’ll be done Thursday!

    e) procrastination: Sending a couple emails. I should get on that!

And omg Ive been eating alllll the jelly beans. I grab a bag every time I go into Target [which is a lot btw]. Jelly beans are one of my favorite candies but since they are seasonal, I only eat them around Easter time. Which is why I go hog wild when they finally do hit the shelves. Im the same way with candy corn at Halloween too 😉

I should really get on the ACV train since my digestion has been a little wacky the past couple of weeks. And I’m the same way with my planners/notebooks. Right now, I have my planner + 3 notebooks at work! And now to answer the fun ‘currently’ questions at the bottom!

    a) book – Just finished the Divergent series, and I don’t know where to beginning reading. I fell in love with the storyline (probably more than any other book out there).
    b) food – my prepped lunches! I make a meat protein depending on what sounds good for the week, then have either rice or quinoa, and lastly, make a whole pan of a variety of roasted veggies! It is so simple and tasty!
    c) obsession – I was going to put Divergent (sad) but I’d probably have to say reading in general right now. I feel like my old bookworm ways are coming back from middle school and I love it.
    d) bane of existence – our dishes…oh how I wish we could convince our landlord to upgrade us from the 70’s.
    e) procrastination – in this moment, showering/getting ready for work; overall, donating boxes.

But no, it’s the same app. All you have to do is go into you the camera mode, flip it so that you’re taking a pic of your face, and then hold down on your face with one finger for a couple of seconds. The filters will pop up at the bottom of the screen and you can scroll through them.

    a) Still Life with Woodpecker by Tom Robbins – so weird, but I’m really enjoying it!
    b) Sushi rice, steamed broccoli, and sweet chilli sauce. And cereal. Always cereal!
    c) Cereal ahaha
    d) Failed recipe attempts *insert shifty eye emoji*
    e) Surprisingly nothing at the moment!

I’m excited for you to go to Hawaii and of course jealous!! I’ve tried so many times to stick with ACV cocktails, but just can’t do it. Womp womp.

Heck YES to cereal! I opened up a new box 4 days ago and just polished it off this afternoon. Oops? 😆

That’s so exciting about your trip to Hawaii! Have always wanted to go. The Spring forward thing yesterday threw me off completely – it always does!

I find that it’s not so bad on the first day, but then it starts catching up with me on day 2 and 3. I do love that it’s brighter out for longer, though!

Yes to Outlander series! The books are suuuuper long, but you get really sucked in.
Also, I’m in love with Sia’s whole album. I play it on repeat on Spotify and have yet to get sick of it. She’s so amazing!

i was just in Maui for a week and have only been back for a few days and am STRUGGLING with real life after that glorious existence. i need to figure out a way to move there for a few years now that i’ve convinced the boyfriend he wants to live on an island too. 🙂

It’s so hard, eh?! Pair that with jet lag and it’s seriously a real struggle. I think it took me a full week to fall back into the swing of things last year.

I would definitely help you out with that freezer! That salad looks so yummy. And I also need some fake tan on, getting so white! Or preferably a vacation where I could get a real tan.

Boo the computer ate my comment! Let’s try again. Sorry about the 3 am wake ups. I hate dst when I never know if it’s actually 3 or 4 or if it’s 2 or 3 haha Always confuses me! Little girl was up at 2 and I didn’t know if it was actually 2 or 3 lol and if I should feed her or if it was too early, ha! Hope you find time to nap today. I’m feeling productive already! Got in a workout and some blog reading and now the little girl is awake and ready to go!

I can’t remember what time the clocks change. I actually think it’s somewhere around 2am, so you were probably caught in some weird time/space paradigm 😛

I was just reading up on the benefits of ACV because I’ve come down with a little cold… I drank some the other day in tea and I thought I’d hate it but I actually didn’t at all. YAY. Oh and I’m really big on planning/planners… I have one “official” planner and then two other ones where I rewrite things so I don’t forget 😀 pathetic.
