Happy Wednesday, friends!
Well… sorta. I had to say goodbye to J this morning, which doesn’t exactly top my list of favourite things to do. I didn’t manage to take any pictures of what I’ve been eating over the past week, so I’m going to sit out on WIAW for the second time in a row and update you guys on life as I currently know it instead…
. – . – . – .
Current books: Would you believe that I’m still making my way through A Dance With Dragons by George R.R. Martin? I started reading it last month, but the dang book is long (1051 pages), and I haven’t had the time to really sit down and commit to reading more than a handful of pages before I pass out at night. Getting there… slowly but surely.
Current music: Bravado by Lorde. I have to credit Davida for introducing me to this one (girl has amazing taste in music). I like it a whole lot more than Royals, and it’s been coming out of my speakers and buds on a pretty regular basis.
[youtube=”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpapgTL7Mnw&w=560&h=315″]
Current guilty pleasure: Curling up on the couch with a warm drink and a good book/movie when it’s either dark, snowy, or ridiculously cold outside. Talk about the absolute perfect excuse to stay in and do nothing at all.
Current nail colour: Naked! I’m going through one of those phases where I just don’t want anything on my nails because the slightest chip starts to drive me crazy and I don’t have the time/patience to repaint my digits every.single.day, so my nails are rocking out in their birthday suits.
Current drink: ALL the tea… and by all I really mean my absolute favourite Hot Cinnamon Spice blend from Harney & Sons. I’ve been drinking multiple a cups a day now that they weather turned cold and gloomy, and my latest shipment came in not too long ago, so I should be alright for a little while 😉
Current food: Two words: mug.cakes. Honestly, I think it’s mostly the coconut flour that I’ve fallen in love with, but I’ve been eating a mug cake of some sort pretty much every day since I first made one as part of Becky’s blogiversary celebration. It was love at first bite and we’ve been together ever since.
Current favorite show: Exciting news! Unlike the last few months, I’ve actually been watching a bit of TV (I blame the cold dark evenings). That being said, it’s nothing crazy exciting, since I’ve only been re-watching old seasons of Game of Thrones, but it’s a start, right? 😀
Current wish list: Well, seeing as I’ve been good and abstained from buying myself anything before Christmas, I’m going to stick with what I said last month: these holiday gift sets from Sephora.
Hint, hint “Santa.”
Sephora Favourites – Superstars // Tarte’s The Tarte of Giving Collector Set
Current needs: A faster reaction time. Urban Decay released the Naked 3 palette last month, and it was completely sold out by the time I found out and tried to order one. And the same thing happened again when they restocked it a week later. Freaking.eh.
Current triumphs: Letting life happen. Even though I kind of freaked out when I found out that J was coming to visit me 2 days before it happened, [I think] I managed the change in routine just fine. It was great to be able to spend a week with him, and I miss him now that he’s gone 😥
Current bane of my existence: Long distance relationships! Le poop 😡
Current celebrity crush: *cough* (team Peeta!!) *cough* I blame going to see Catching Fire again.
Current indulgence: Christmas cookies! I probably bake more batches of cookies in the month of December than I do all the other 11 months of the year combined, but how can you resist the sweet siren song of snickerdoodles, shortbread, gingerbread, and chocolate crinkle cookies? Answer: you can’t.
Current slang: Errr… My mind is drawing a blank on this one.
Current blessing: The amazing people in my life. J, my family, my friends, you guys… I don’t know what I did to deserve it, but I don’t know where I’d be without it.
Current outfit: Boarding gear, more often than not…
Current excitement: You guys… Christmas is in 3 weeks. THREE
Current mood: A confusing mix of happy and sad. Happy about the holidays and the fact that I got to spend the past week with J; sad that he had to go back and I have no idea when I’ll be able to see him next.
Current link: Bloglovin.com. I’ve been a little absent from the blog world so it’s time to play catch up. Hopefully it’ll help keep my mind off the fact that it’s a little more quiet now that J is gone.
. – . – . – .
Happy Wednesday, friends!
Give me your current:
1) … song.
2) … food.
3) … mood.
4) … outfit.
5) … link.
Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves
TEAM PEETA. Typical fan girl much? Yea. But Josh Hutcherson rocks. My current (all-the-time) crush is actually Paul Walker. So sad that he died in a car crash last weekend. :'(
But anyway…
Song: Wrapped in Red by Kelly Clarkson
Food: Scones!
Mood: Trying to be positive despite insomnia. It serious just comes and goes.
Outfit: Leggings with any long sleeve tunic-type shirt. Easy, comfortable, stylish (I hope) 😉
Link: http://www.upworthy.com/ever-hear-about-the-lady-that-spilled-coffee-on-herself-at-mcdonalds-then-sued-for-millions <— the story behind the lady that got a terrible rap for suing McDonald's for hot coffee. Media blows up everything unfortunately.
Happy Wednesday, Amanda!
Sarah
I’m sorry J left. Hope you get to see each other again soon.
song – I’ve got Christmas carols running through my head. I like to sing them while I clean (an advantage to being single, there’s no one to torture with my voice-not-to-be-heard-outside-of-the-shower.)
food – I’m loving the combo of avocado, hummus, and losta’ veggies in my wraps.
mood – literary? I’ve been a reading machine lately. I just cannot get enough, I’ve been whipping through two or three books a week.
outfit – jeans, long-sleeved shirts in bright colors, denim vest
link – goodreads
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
2 or 3 books a week is amazing! Have you come across any good ones? I’m always on the lookout for new reads.
Sarah
Recently I read Treasure Island!!! by Sara Levine. Hilarious! Yesterday I finished Necessary Lies by Diane Chamberlain which was absorbing. Are you familiar with Goodreads? It is a social networking website where you can read reviews of books and create “bookshelves” rating the books you have read.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I have! I love checking out that site when I’m looking for a new book to read, and I wish I could participate in it more, but I have a hard enough time keeping up with all my other networking duties 😕
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
So much Game of Thrones Stuff or the more correctly named Fire & Ice series. Dammit I’ve got to get started on that book soon. I must beat HBO’s schedule. I’m sure that’s normal, but I also know how long Martin’s books are and considering I only read a few pages a night before passing out (much like you), it’s going to be tough.
I’m glad you got the chance to spend some time with J. Saying goodbye is always the hardest though. I’ve come to dread Sunday nights now because that’s when the Hubby heads back to school every week. Oh well, at least I get to see him on weekends. I should count my blessings…and on that note, have a great night.
Chelsea @ Chelsea's Healthy Kitchen
Don’t feel bad about taking so long to read A Dance with Dragons. You don’t even want to know how long I’ve been reading the 4th book! 😛
My current:
– Song: Let Her Go by Passenger.
– Food: Taco salad with turkey, cheddar cheese, guacamole, tomatoes, and plain Greek yogurt plus tortilla chips. My favouite!
– Mood: Distracted
– Outfit: Lulu yoga pants and a grey long sleeve top. This is my bum outfit that I always change into in the evenings haha.
5) … link.
Chelsea @ Chelsea's Healthy Kitchen
Lol oops forgot the last one!
– Link: Twitter, Pinterest, Blogs… nothing out of the ordinary lol.
Kim
I completely know what you mean about saying goodbye to the boyfriend, girl! My husband and I did long distance for a year while he was at OCS then BOLC to become an army officer. I hated the first few days of parting ways, but eventually got back into the swing of things. Hang in there 🙂
I’m currently excited that the semester is just about over (I’m graduating, hallelujah!) and that we’ll be flying back home in 2 weeks to be with family/friends for 10 days!
Florence (@SquigglemeFloey)
im obsessed with Lorde’s song, Team 😀
Erin @ The Almond Eater
LDR’s are hardddddd, especially the not knowing when you’ll see him again part. But I think they make you stronger as a couple 🙂 I’ve been there, done that, and I’ll (or we’ll, I should say) probably have to do it again some time in the future. WAHHHHH.
Current:
song: Bravado by Lorde…..thank you!
food: nada, but I did just finish eating some almonds
mood: content mixed with slight sleepiness (totally normal at 6:15 pm, right?)
outfit: gym clothes–plan on going to the gym pretty soon here!
link: hmmm probably Pinterest. I’ve been browsing the gift idea section pretty frequently.
Arman @ thebigmansworld
Before I get into your post…WHAT HAPPENED TO SCONE SUNDAYS?! I miss salivating on those amazing delicacies. I blame the coconut flour.
Ahh my friend gave me Game of thrones and Suits to watch but they are both untouched. Props to handling J’s sudden arrival well- it does throw a spanner in the works and it sounds like you handled it well. FYI- Mugcakes are the new cereal to mix into yogurt. Truth.
Listen to ‘Teams’ by Lorde. Amazing. That, or ‘Resolution’ by Matt Corby. More Amazing.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I blame the coconut flour too… or should I be thanking it? Maybe both. And YES to mug cakes and yogurt! I literally just polished one off as we speak. Going to check out those songs now.
kaity @ kaityscooking
ahh long distance totally stinks but thank god for skype and face time on the phones (even though that is so awkward to me, standing there holding the phone out infront of you talking hahaaa) i loved catching fire and got even more obsessed then i already was with the cast! I cannot wait to get my christmas cookies made, best time of year!
Megan @ Meg Go Run
Current favorite outfit… long sweater, leggings, and comfy boots. 🙂
Miss Polkadot
Saying goodbye is the worst and even more so when you don’t know when you’ll see each other again. For now, though, I’m so happy you and J had a great time with you just letting life fall the way it did. As a constant over-worrier and planner I SO get how hard that it. Definitely worthy being proud of.
My currents:
1) … song: Counting Stars by One Republic. Listening to it as we ‘speak’, actually. I’m still waiting for the day I can’t hear it anymore but fingers crossed it won’t be that soon.
2) … food: Apples. It’s crazy. I’ve always enjoyed a lot of them but right now I feel like eating them all.of.the.time. Maybe even more than kabocha. Chocolate is a pretty obvious one, I guess.
3) … mood: Happy. I’ve been feeling my happiest in quite a while since starting my internship and just thinking of going there makes me happy. I’ll admit I’m already dreading the end of my internship but trying to push those thoughts aside.
4) … outfit: A floral dress with ruby-coloured tights.
5) … link: http://www.zalando.de/
I’m in ‘need’ [obviously totally subjective opinion] of new dresses. It currently is my ‘nothing to wear anymore’ time of the year.
Happy Wednesday and I’m keeping my fingers crossed J will be able to visit you spontaneously again soon!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Aww that’s so great to hear that you’ve been happy in your internship! I remember you having a rough time with your last job, so I’m glad that you’ve found something that you love doing 🙂
lindsay
crap, 3 weeks? i’m CURRENTLY BEHIND in shopping. I need some Mug cake stat to refuel!
Agnes
I recently started the first book in the song of ice and fire series – can’t wait to spend as much as possible of the holidays on the couch reading!
1) Current song: Spinnerette – ‘Driving Song’.
2) Current food: yoghurt with frozen blueberries and honey.
3) Current mood: tired.
4) Current outfit: my lovely, warm poncho – perfect for chilly winter evenings.
5) Current link: BBC iplayer – love being able to catch up on TV series and news in my own time.
Karey @ Nutty About Health
Sorry J is gone now. Hopefully you’ll see him again very soon!! Can’t believe x-mas is only 3 weeks away – what?! Crazy. I’m w/ya on the naked nails… too much work.
My current song is “All Time Low” by NIN. LOVE it.
Becky @ Olives n Wine
Can I be on both teams? Team Peeta and Gale, that is. The more the merrier, right??! Heh… Heh… 😉 I’m so happy I got you addicted to mug cakes. They’re absolutely delightful as is coconut flour 🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
For you, I can make an exception with the rules 😛
Lucie@FitSwissChick
I’m so happy for you that you had such a great time with J. You sooo deserve it!
Current mood: cosy!! As you, I loove to curl up at home and just keep warm. Current food: I just demolished a huge bowl of even bigger prawns and am about to prepare dessert 🙂
Danielle @ LabelsAreForTinCans
That song is one of my favourites from her album! I just discovered this awesome a cappella group Pentatonix on YouTube (they’ve done some really funny videos like the ‘history’ of Beyonce’s music and NSync!)
Lauren
I am the worst at goodbyes, so I can only imagine how you feel right now! But at least you have the ever-growing excitement of seeing him again! Absence makes the heart grow fonder, right?!? Current songs have GOT to be Christmas music. I’ve been listening to it non-stop! My mood has been a little hay-wire lately but I keep trying to perk myself up. Hopefully this funk kicks itself in a couple of days… Until then, there’s always chocolate 😉
Cori @ olivetorun
I was following along right beside you until you busted out Team Peeta. I just can’t.
🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
😆 That was me for a long time… but he’ll make you bread! 😛
Alex @ Cookie Dough Katzen
Loving that new song by Lorde. She’s awesome! I’m currently in a lazy mood so I need to hit the gym. 🙂
Ashley @ Snow Cream and Syrup
Yup, long distance can be rough. 🙁 sorry you’re going through it!
food… eggnog! ’tis the season!
outfit… anything with a puffer vest!
Ang @ Nutty for Life
Current song is probably Timber by Pitbull which is so freaking embarrassing. I really try hard to actively dislike Pitbull (and Ke$ha) but I mean… you just have to love Timber. I have the original Naked palette and I am not much of a makeup girl (except for eyeliner and mascara) so it is perfect. I really want Naked 3 now! I think I could get more playful with my makeup routine.
Cassie
I’ve done the long distance thing too. Hang in there.
…food. I don’t love sweet potatoes, but I think I’ve eaten them every single day since Thanksgiving.
…mood. A little sleepy because the hubs has been keeping CRAZY study schedule which means my sleep is off skelter.
…outfit. Leggings!! Gina just propped White Plum, and I’m drooling and trying to hold out for some birthday money to buy some!
…link. Other than Facebook and Instagram, I spend most of my time on bloglovin. or Crye Leike.
Emily @ More Than Just Dessert
Obsessed with Lorde!!! And now I’m craving mug cakes… 🙂
Carly @ Snack Therapy
Team Peeta for sure. At least as long-term material. Gale might be good for a little rendezvous in the woods, if ya know what I mean.
So sorry J is gone. That really is the worst. Sending you love <3.
My current link is Bloglovin' as well. It's officially hit triple digits, and I've been falling behind on most of my fave blogs. Hate that!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
😆 That was my issue with Gale vs. Peeta as well. Gale seems like more instant gratification, whereas Peeta is a better long-term investment 😉
ari @ whatarisaid
Those game of throne books are long reads, they always take me a long time especially because reading them at night gets me sleepy. I want to rewatch the seasons, I only have the first one tho. I really need to try to make some mug cakes, they look so good!
Caitlin
I’m happy that you enjoyed your spontaneous time with J and remember though you may not know when you will see him next, the last time you saw him you didn’t know til TWO DAYS prior! So who knows what will happen! 🙂
I’m not surprised it’s taken you so long to read that book because just from the looks of it it looks dense! Certain books I really need to focus on each page so I cannot fly through them. Luckily I’m not reading one right now haha. It’s always nice to just read something fun and intriguing but not too thought provoking.
Did you see the guy who plays Peeta host SNL? He did well!
Lindsay @ Shiny Love Affair
I bought the first Game of Thrones book awhile ago and I’m still trying to get through it. It’s been tough. I’m also dying for Naked 3. It looks gorgeous! I love rosey gold colours. I can’t wait to get my hands on it. As for my currents…
1) … song. I, like you, have been loving Lorde. Royals was never my jam so I completely overlooked her. I’ve been listening to ‘Ribs’ on repeat. I’ve also been loving Chocolate by the 1975.
2) … food. Avocado. I can eat it on everything.
3) … mood. Excited for Christmas of course!
4) … outfit. Jeans, comfy shirt, and a massive scarf. Maybe a statement necklace too.
5) … link. I’ve been creeping http://www.reddit.com a lot lately.
Lisa
Ohh I was totally going to do this one tomorrow. Twins:)
So happy to hear your time with J was a great one! I knew it would be.At least you got to spend some quality time together!
My sephora wish list is out of control at this point with all the holiday palettes coming out. I was actually just there yesterday…of course.
Davida @ The Healthy Maven
Finally someone acknowledges my taste in music! hahaha just kidding 😉 Glad you like it!
And LD SUCKS. I feel ya. Console yourself with Christmas cookies which is what I do 12 months of the year. Or text me. I miss you <3
YES to G of T. So good. Need to rewatch. Is it season 4 yet? My patience is at an all-time low.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Don’t even start with me on season 4 — I still haven’t finished season 3.
Sarah @pickyrunner
I’m so glad you had a great week with J but I know how hard it is to not know when you will get to see him again. That’s the worst part of the goodbyes, in my opinion. Hopefully time flies by though with snowboarding and eating christmas cookies! I seriously don’t know how your food always photographs so perfectly, but it’s a real skill that I have yet to learn. Someday…
meredith @ The Cookie ChRUNicles
Sometimes it is better not knowing when you will see someone special again – that way you can be randomly surprised when it happens rather than have a crazy amount of days to count down to. Does that make sense? Mind games totally work for me in these situations lol….Current food right now I can’t even answer. Oddly enough, I am not craving a thing at the moment and that’s weird…I have major polish chipping issues btw, therefore I rarely put a dark color on my fingers and always go light enough that if it chips I won’t notice. I don’t think my nails have been naked since I am 14.
Alex @ Kenzie Life
Sorry J had to go back. I was in a long distance relationship for almost 3 years and it was really hard, so I know what it’s like 🙁 Thank goodness for skype! We’re in the midst of a snow storm here, so currently I’m drinking coffee and eating toast because I didn’t want to drive 3 hours to get to school in the snow and ice. That cinnamon spice tea sounds so good!
Hollie
I was buying some MAC makeup this morning and thought of you. I was in desperate need to update my makeup collection LOL…I find I go by the woodwork these days and let that slide. Anyways I don’t think curling up inside is a guilty pleasure…it’s so cold out right now!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Awwr yay MAC! One of the first makeup lines I ever got into.
HilJo
My current mood is dreading babysitting from 2:30-10 tonight…at least I get paid!
My current outfit is my bathrobe…lazy to the max and loving it.
Lets be honest, it is okay to take forever to read a dance with dragons because of course you fall asleep seconds after starting to read it. It is an incredibly boring book. The 1st 3 were great, but the last 2 dragged on, and on, and on…with random cliffhangers you never believe. (Sorry, I am rather bitter about the time I put into reading that book.) Hopefully the next one is better!
Annnddd now I sound like a snob. Which I am not! Sorry :/
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
awww, I’m sorry J had to head back, but I’m glad that you guys got to spend the week together. Fingers crossed he’ll be able to get time off again soon!
current song: I’m basically in a Pentatonix obsession right now. I really like their cover of Lorde, I really like their cover of Royals.
food: my advent calender chocolate 😉
mood: cuddly. Hence the pug in my lap right now.
outfit: yoga pants and one of Eric’s t-shirts. Yay comfort!
link: Pinterest. Hunting for Christmas baking ideas!
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
Wait, I just noticed that Pentatonix have a cover of Carol of the Bells…ok, new current song!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Pentatonix is -amazing-… and I honestly can’t even look at Pinterest without wanting to make ALL the things. I’m actually looking for DIY Christmas crafts and gifts over food though… Juuuuust to get into the Christmas spirit 😀
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat
So, Justin’s currently reading the Game of Throne books. He’s on the 3rd book right now. Naturally, he wanted to watch the TV show, so we bought the 1st season and watched it last week. OMG…soooo good! I haven’t read the books, but I’m definitely liking the show. We bought the 2nd season, which we’ll probably start this weekend. The only problem is…I want to know what happens, but Justin won’t tell me! Poo!
Mug cakes are my current obsession as well! I make your chocolate one probably 2-3 times a week and I’ve also be making Sara’s PB brownie mug cake for breakfast a whole lot. I’ll be adding your pumpkin mug cake to the line-up probably tonight. Yay! 🙂
Heather @TheSoulfulSpoon
Great post as always! Love that you’re embracing letting go, and also COCONUT FLOUR! I’d love to try that tea, but too much caffeine messes with me. Their caffeine blends are something I’m looking into though:)
1. Favorite Song- I LOVE Lorde too! She’s amazing, right? And I’m stoked over hair. I’d have to say my favorite song of the late is called Don’t Save Me, by Haim. It’s so unlike me, a little 80’s, but for some reason, I can’t quit listening to it:)
2. Food- Coconut butter, and Sunspire chocolate baking bar ( unsweetened), and I think I’ve gone through 3 cans of pumpkin this week- no lie. I can NOT quit eating it- in everything!
3. Mood- relieved from deadlines being over for two days and looking forward to grocery shopping- yes I’m a nerd!:)
4. Outfit- anything black, form fitting and that matches my handbag so I don’t have to change:) Yes, please and thank you I’m somber, but I love black!
5. Link- I have no idea- probably this week it’s been Vitacost. I’ve ordered everything from bulk coconut flour half off, to gluten-free oats half off, to two pounds of coconut oil for $15. Steals of a deal I tell ya! Their shipping is fast and they’ve got great sales going on right now:) -Plus, their rewards program is pretty awesome- everybody gets $10 when you order from this link- https://www.vitacostrewards.com/jIZ4GGL.
Have a great week!:)
Kristin
I am in a long distance relationship, too. I was just telling someone yesterday that the distance is the bane of my existence. What are the hardest parts for you? Do you find you get frustrated at him/unreasonably emotionally more often when you are separated? Hehe. I’m glad you were able to spend time together! 🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Awwr I feel ya on the distance, girl… believe me 😡 It IS really easy to get frustrated and snarky when you feel like he can’t be there for you or you have to sit at home on the computer/phone to have a “date night” instead of being able to go out and have some fun. I also find it hard to go from one extreme to the other — it’s like he’s either not there at all, or there ALL the time.
Shashi @ http://runninsrilankan.com
So glad you got to spend a week with the J man! sending hugs your way till you see him again!
…song for me – a not so newbie but a fav these days, One Republic feel again!
… food for me – still oats, nutbutter and chocolate! But those mug cakes you post are seriously tempting…
… mood – excited – like you said Christmas is in 3 Weeks! I am on Vacay in 16 days! Woohoo!
… outfit – black pants… black top…not real exciting eh 🙂
… link – weather.com -I am obsessed with checking the weather this winter! I just want “The sun’ll come out tomorrow. Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow there’ll be sun. Just thinkin’ about tomorrow…” and now Annie is stuck in my brain!
Glad you are back lady!
