Ahoy hoy! (Eh? I don’t know. Just go with it)
I can’t believe that I was packing my bags for Hawaii the last time I sat down to write one of these posts. Actually, I can’t believe that it’s only been a month since I was there — it feels like forever ago π― Which is actually kind of strange seeing as March in general felt like it went by in the blink of an eye. But I digress…
Point is, it’s April which means it’s time for another currently post! No tropical vacations on the horizon this time around, but I do have a few exciting things coming up, so let’s take a look at life as I currently know it…
. – . – . – .
Current book: I’m kind of between books right now. I haven’t picked up anything new since finishing Blood Song, so I’ve just been randomly picking away at books that I’ve already read… and lately I’ve been in the mood for some lighter fare…
Current music: Dark Horse by Katy Perry. I know I’m way behind on the times with this one, and while I’ve heard this song plenty of times before, lately it just keeps getting stuck in my head. Also… have you seen the video of it being sung in 20 different styles? Guy’s got skills!
[youtube=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jus7S5vBJyU&w=560&h=315″]
Current guilty pleasure: Binge watching season 3 of Game of Thrones. I only have a few more days to catch up on the last season before the new one starts, and I must watch ALL the shows… so my apologies if I disappear off the face of the [blog] world for a little while.
Current nail colour: Urban Decay’s Addiction with a pink accent nail. Not the most springy setup, but that’s okay because spring kind of forgot about us anyways…
Current drink: Coffee. More specifically, Pike Place with a splash of milk from my new office. No matter how many different coffees and coffee shops I try, this is the brew that I keep coming back to. Also, I’m going to go against the grain here and say that I prefer hot coffee over iced coffee. I know everyone is anxiously awaiting the arrival of warmer weather so they can bust out the icy drinks, but I’ll be sipping my hot coffee and cranking the AC, thank.you.very.much.
Current food: Chickpeas. Every day, every way.
Current obsession: See above… and below…
Crunchy Honey Almond Roasted Chickpeas
Current wish: That Mini Eggs didn’t contain traces of peanuts. They used to be my absolute favourite Easter candy and I’d look forward to stocking up on them all year long. That is, until a few years back when SLAP — “may contain traces of peanuts.” Easter just hasn’t been the same since then.
Current need: A new memory card for my DSLR. I maxed out my storage space about 2 months ago and I keep planning on buying a new one but I’ve fallen into the habit of just deleting old pictures instead. I hope it won’t come back to bite me in the a**, but really… how many pictures of oatmeal does a girl need? Now if only I could do the same kind of cleaning sweep to my phone.
Current triumph: Finally filing my taxes! Pretending to be Being a grown-up is hard work.
Current bane of my existence: Wonky sleep. My sleeping patterns have been all over the place lately. Sometimes they’re more-or-less normal and I can sleep until 5 or 5:30, and then sometimes I just start waking up at 3 or 4 AM for a few days in a row for no reason at all. When that happens, I’ll get out of bed for a few hours to blog or work, and then fall back asleep for another hour or so at around 6 or 7. Like I said… wonky.
Current indulgence: My daily trip to Starbucks. I know I can make coffee at home for a fraction of the cost, but I just enjoy getting my work done in a coffee shop. That and coffee always seems to taste better when it’s made by someone else.
Current procrastination: Okay this is embarrassing, but I still haven’t renewed my passport… which, if you remember, is something that I mentioned all the way back in February π³ I’ll be doing it this month for sure though, seeing as my passport expires in May and I kind of need it if I want to go to Blend in June… which I do.
Current blessing: Afternoon naps. Or mid-morning naps. Or, really, just naps in general. I don’t have to take them too, too often, but when I need them, they’re lifesavers.
Current excitement: Three words… Winter is coming [this Sunday night] π
[youtube=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZY43QSx3Fk&w=560&h=315″]
Current mood: Giddy! The weather is getting warmer (sort of), the days are getting longer, and the air just has a certain lightness to it. That and it’s my mom’s birthday this weekend which means one very important thing… cake π
Current link: Pinterest… Gotta find inspiration for that cake somewhere!
Do you prefer your coffee hot or iced?

I am loving your post by the way!! Do you mind if I copy these questions and answer them on my post as well π ? Keep up the great work!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Not at all! They’re lots of fun π
Kelsey @ Ramblings of Change
Guilty Pleasure – staying up late…but I’m trying to embrace my current work situation so sometimes late nights, whether spent being a little productive or just watching Netflix, are pretty amazing.
Food – Hmm…going to stick with sweet potatoes. I want them every.damn.day.
Drink – I’m loving my little treats of the Valencia Orange refreshers at Starbucks + the FitAid drinks we have at our CrossFit gym.
Bane of Existence – looking for a ‘grown-up’ job…or one that I’m a bit happier at =/
Procrastination – sleep, my to-do list, and job searching.
By the way…these are one of my favorite posts. =)
Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves
Happy and blessed birthday to Momma Spoons!! She certainly knows what’s up considering she has a daughter that makes all her readers smile on the daily π
Current:
1) Guilty pleasure: vanilla frozen custard from Shake Shack that I had last night. The creaminess was unreal.
2) Food: Chipotle! Just had some for the first time yesterday. One bowl lasted me THREE meals. I guess I went a little heavy on the…everything.
3) Drink: agua.
4) Bane of existence: having to get up early all weekend.
5) Procrastination: Typing this π
Pamela @ Brooklyn Farm Girl
Love those metallic nails, I always have a weakness for robot nails! <3
Brittany @ Freckled Nettles
Heard you on the oatmeal pictures. My photo space is nearly full… but for some reason I can’t bring myself to delete some food posts. Seriously- why the hell do I need them? Definitely a foodie problem.
Ksenija @ With An Open Mind
Happy Birthday Mama Spoons, we April ladies rock π !
And now a quicky before I face plant in ALL my Disney pictures: I love the nail polish and I think it goes great with the slightly pink accent nail. And I did really hop to manage getting through the GoT seasons before season 4 starts, since I have been super late to the party. But I just made it until the end of season two π guess I have to wait for a bit and cover my ears when it comes to the start of season 4.
Yoojin
i definitely prefer hot coffee too! there’s something about sipping a warm cup of black coffee (slightly sweetened with stevia) that’s so comforting for me π
1) guilty pleasure: lighting candles… pretty much EVERYDAY.. which means i go through alot of candles…
2) food: i’ve been really digging smoked salmon lately! so salty & buttery… perfect with avocado π
3) drink: kombuchaaaaa.
4) bane of existence: i am notorious for having bad sleep as well! i try to take melatonin without being dependent on it.. and it seems like it works, but i feel like i wake up drowsy π i find it manageable when i wake up ~4 am, but it really sucks when i wake up around 2 am and can’t go back to sleep… i pretty much end up eating out of boredom…
5) procrastination: painting my toes.. it’s not warm enough for sandals yet π
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I have a fun post coming up if you have leftover candle jars lying around π
Chelsea @ Chelsea's Healthy Kitchen
SO excited for GoT too! I can’t wait to reunite with my husband… err Jon Snow.
I prefer my coffee hot too – preferably Irish cream flavoured with a couple splashes of 2% milk. That’s been my latest drink of choice at the hospital!
Current guilty pleasure: The Roz and Mocha Show on Kiss 92.5 in the mornings – those guys seriously make me look forward to my commute to the hospital haha.
Current food: Eating a bowl of oatmeal for a late lunch right now!
Current drink: See above
Current bane of my existence: The fact that I need to start applying to jobs soon. Eek!
Current procrastination: Pinterest. Always.
Ellie@Fit for the soul
Ahhh cake! Cake errrrday, if i could afford the damage it could do to my body if I WERE to eat it everyday, haha. Can I come over? π
And my current guilty pleasure is actually food–fresh whipped cream made in the magic bullet! Oh mannnn is that stuff good and EXACTLY like the real stuff as if made in the stand mixer. It leaves no mess so it’s really convenient. And I feel like we are truly so alike!!! I loooove hot coffee and drinks a lil more over iced one, and even when it’s scorching hot I still manage to get myself a hot cup of coffee–but I still make exceptions every now and then. Selah made my hormones all sorts of crazy and now I’m constantly hot, haha.
Shoe@ running shoes blog
I like Dark Horse by Katy Perry.
oh Hot coffee. I always have hot coffee in the morning.
Happy weekend.
Cat
Oooh I’m with you on the naps! I hadn’t taken one in years (since the golden days of being a student) but last weekend I took one and oh boy was it good! Very cute sheepy btw π
Christina
That cake looks incredible! My boyfriend is having the same sleeping pattern at the moment, I feel so bad for him π Wish there was something I could do.
Do you prefer your coffee hot or iced? > I love BOTH! But if I had to choose one of course it would be hot.
Give me your current:
1) β¦ guilty pleasure. > Anything dipped in peanut butter at the moment.
2) β¦ food. > Obsessed by fruit at the moment. Not sure if all this sugar is good for me (my skin is totally disagreeing with something, and it may be all the sugar) but yum.
3) β¦ drink. > Coffee. Really good Columbian coffee.
4) β¦ bane of existence. > Housework. Why can’t it just be done and never change? Why does dust happen? Why does my toilet need cleaning? Why do I need to hoover and mop and scrub? UGH.
5) β¦ procrastination. > Instagram. I can’t decide whether this is good or not – I do find it inspiring as I follow so many photographers, but one minute it’s 8am and the next it’s 8.20am and I’m running late for work…
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
For what it’s worth, I find that my skin starts to act up when I start eating too much fruit too. But it’s only with certain fruits… I can eat all the apples, bananas, and pears that I want, but when I start to get into things like melons, citrus, tropical, and berries, I run into problems.
Mary Frances
Those mini eggs … I die.
Hot coffee! Except in the summer, so yeah, I’m really committal.
1) β¦ shoes, and dresses from Boden
2) β¦ peanut butter (what can I say??)
3) β¦ oh great, now I’m going to forget the name … Izzy’s? It is a fizzy, all naturally sweetened drink – like soda, but “healthier” (as if soda could be healthy, don’t burst my bubble!
4) β¦ Youtube
5) β¦ writing my post about moving from Blogger to WP -ugg.
Have a great weekend Amanda!
Liz @ I Heart Vegetables
Hahaha that Katy Perry video is SO FUNNY!!!
I’m constantly in a memory/storage space battle with my computer!! My little mac can’t handle all of the photos on here!
Tina Muir
Ahhh WONKY! I havent heard that word in such a long time! I miss it!!!!! I have said wonky a few times over here, and people give me the strangest looks, so I stopped using it! So nice to read π
Also, mini eggs…..it breaks my heart to see you cant eat them….they are one of the best things about easter…..maybe Cadbury will read this, and sort something out for you STAT!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Katie | Healthy Seasonal Recipes
Currently I am reading the Goldfinch and I have to say it is pretty gloomy. I wouldn’t mind abandoning it and reading some lighter fare with ‘ya. Love this list!
Laura
My body is playing copy cat with yours, apparently. Yesterday I woke up at 5, had breakfast, hung for a bit, then fell back asleep around 9. This morning I woke up at 6 (after falling asleep well past midnight) and I plan on squeezing a nap in at some point in the near future.
Kim
I have all of the Sophie Kinsella books- I read the series at least two or three times years ago π My husband was like “umm, what are these?” when we were sorting through all of our books last year, haha. Have you tried books by Emily Giffin or Jane Green? Love them both, and they’re on the lighter/easy read side as well! Have a great weekend.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I’ve read most of Giffin’s books and a couple of Green’s — they’re definitely good ones too!
Arman @ thebigmansworld
It’s working now- On Safari- but not Chrome.
Anyway- Mama Spoons birthday? I have a personal connection with her, so tell her I send her Aussie hi 5’s and my mum’s wooden spoon.
I cringe that you have that many cans of chickpeas…..I hope this doesn’t mean we are expecting a plethora of chickpea recipes. My stomach might die. Current guilty pleasure- Filling up my kindle with random books- but none of that chicky stuff you’re reading.
Candace
I think the Hershey’s Eggies used to be peanut free? I think I might have to contact them b/c we love those @ our house too. A good guilty pleasure if you want an Easter treat…the CeMoi large chocolate Easter eggs @ Costco. I think they have a tree nut warning, but no peanuts.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
They are! I actually just picked up a bag of Eggies a few days ago and they’re a wonderful replacement for Mini Eggs π
Kat
True story, those mini eggs are Ninja’s absolute favvvvvvvorite. I may or may not love them as well π
As for hot or iced coffee, I do like iced coffee, but I prefer iced tea in the summer months. Guess that’s just the hick in me π Hot coffee all the way!
Gina @ Health, Love, and Chocolate
I think I fall somewhere in the middle on the coffee temperature debate. Nothing wrong with a hot mug of coffee in the morning and a mid-afternoon iced pick me up, right?
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
That’s kind of my stance on it as well, but it’s not always so easy for us Northerners to pull off π
Kim @ FITsique
I love the Shopaholic books! They are so cute and funny. I am a hot coffee girl all the way, its just so comforting to me even in the summer! Guilty procrastination..reading all of these wonderful blogs (and maybe spending too much time in the gym so I don’t have to study π )
Sarah @ Sarah Sincerely
I’m definitely a year-round hot coffee drinker too. Just isn’t the same cold! LOVE your pink accent nail! I’m not sure if I could pull it off, put it’s adorable! And wonky sleep? YES. Maybe we should just chat when we’re awake at random, wee hours of the day (early morning? late night?). π
Lindsay @ Shiny Love Affair
PS – that nail combo is so cute! I never thought of doing silver nails with a pink accent. Definitely going to give that a try this weekend.
Lindsay @ Shiny Love Affair
Awesome post as usual Amanda! I really need to get into Game of Thrones…. I’ve been reading the first book but I haven’t been able to get into it. I feel like the show may be more of my jam.
1) β¦ guilty pleasure…desperate housewives. I’ve been binging it on Netflix for awhile now. All 8 seasons. Yikes. Scary when I say that out loud.
2) β¦ food…brown rice pasta. Really all types of pasta lately.
3) β¦ drink…soy chai lattes. I would prefer them with almond milk but gotta take what Starbucks will give me.
4) β¦ bane of existence…the weather. I desperately want spring like the rest of us.
5) β¦ procrastination…printing photos for my gallery wall. I hung up the frames so long ago in my hallway. But have yet to finish printing all the photos from the frame.
Have a good weekend! π
Liz @ Carpe Diem and Run
I adore hot coffee as well <3
Natalie @ lovenataliemarie
I have been obsessed with Dark Horse lately. I can have it on repeat and not get tired of it. I don’t know what it is.. maybe it’s that beat. π
I wish I had a Starbucks nearby. For now, I will drink my daily cup in the morning homemade.
I love love love the nail colors.
Kim @ Racing Bananas
I gotta jump on the Game of Thrones wagon – I hear it’s so good!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
YES! I’m not even that big on watching TV, but GoT is the one show I’ll make an exception for.
Ariel
haha YES! hot coffee ALL year! I don’t care what temp it is outside…there is nothing like a hot cup of coffee! I also admit to almost always driving around with the heat on…or the A/C off..and I live in South Florida. >.<.
Sarah @ Sweet Miles
Girl you need to be backing up your photos and storing them either online or on a harddrive that way you can always have a fresh, re-formatted memory card! Ta-da! On the flip side, memory cards are expensive and always a pain to remember to go buy π
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl
I clean out my computer/e-mail/phone pictures every now and then. I always keep at least a couple of each recipe, but it is so refreshing to have a lot of the extras in the trash. Like you said…hopefully it does not come back to bite me some day. And yay for chick lit. It is one of the best ways for me to relax and forget about everything else π
Bridget
I always choose hot coffee in the morning. It just wakes me up and makes my tummy happy! I do, however, love to get iced coffee as a mid-day treat on a hot day!
My current guilty pleasure is Cooper’s Hawk wine tasting. I’ve been there waaaaay too much recently!
My current food of choice is salmon sashimi. OMG!!! Obsessed.
Drink: I’ve been loving apple berry la croix.
Procrastination: grading papers… Always putting it off
Bane of my existence: the raccoons that fight over trash in my apartment complex parking lot…every night… At 2:00 a.m.
Molly @ Fresh Basil For Two
Love, love, love Sophia Kinsella!! It’s been way too long since I’ve read one of her books. Glad you reminded me about them as I am currently holed up for a week recovering from tonsil surgery π

What camera do you use? I want to invest in one and need some advice!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I shoot with a Canon EOS7D and a 50mm lens. It’s a really great camera, but a little on the pricier side.
Kelly @ Kelly Runs For Food
I just ordered HBO again so we can start watching Game of Thrones this weekend. I seriously can’t wait. Just wait until you see the second-to-last episode of last season…it is insane!

hahaha I HATE trying to come up with a post openingβ¦
I have the exact problem with my memory cardβ¦ why don’t i just delete pics? i don’t know.
I feel WAY more productive if I leave the house to go study etc. so I hear ya sister.
Lauren @ LoveChocolateLife
I also prefer hot coffee, even in the summer I always have hot coffee in the morning !!! (although I am in air conditioned placed lolol)
Yes mini eggs are THE BEST candy ever. I wish you could eat them π
Aand yummmm i love birthdays just because I love cake !!!
Kim @ Hungry Healthy Girl
LOVE Dark Horse! My husband just showed me that video of that guy doing it different styles…. a.maz.ing! Pike’s place is one of my favorites too and while I enjoy iced coffee, hot coffee’s the best. Have a great weekend, Amanda!
