As much as I enjoy Mondays, this week I can’t help but wonder where the weekend went — thank goodness for photographic evidence? I got an overwhelming positive response on my last As We Speak post, and since I’m feeling a bit too scatterbrained to type out a coherent wordy post right now, do you mind if I cop out and show you my Sunday through selfies instead? No? You guys are gems. I still can’t say that I love taking ’em, but at least selfies are getting a little easier.
Happy Monday! 😀
. – . – . – .
As we speak, I’m… burning my fingers (and tongue) on a hot cup of coffee. When will I learn to let things cool down a little before I try to eat/drink them? Probably never…
As we speak, I’m… flashing you a picture of my melons. Shameless.
As we speak, I’m… foraging for food. Shhhh. Don’t make any sudden movements. Let us observe the Amanda in its natural habitat…
As we speak, I’m… tight lining my waterline and praying to God that I don’t sneeze or slip and poke my eye out. I like my eyes — I would like to keep them.
As we speak, I’m… close to running late for church yet insisting on taking a good selfie before I leave. Ahh the sacrifices I make to blog…
As we speak, I’m… showing you how I really feel about having to get some work done on a Sunday… and entertaining myself by making goofy faces while I’m stuck on hold.
As we speak, I’m… modelling my sexy thermal socks for you guys. Admit it… you want a pair of purple and turquoise smart wool socks of your very own. I know you do.
As we speak, I’m… snowboarding the afternoon away, but this is the only picture I managed to get because taking selfies around friends makes me feel even more narcissistic than taking selfies alone. That and having to take my gloves off to whip out the iPhone in the cold and snow puts me at a higher risk of frostbite than I’d like. I like my fingers — I would like to keep them.
As we speak, I’m… in my parents’ kitchen, defrosting before dinner with a cup of decaf. And no I will not take off my hat — I have hat hair.
As we speak, I’m… Sneakily snapping up a selfie in the bathroom after dinner. Class all the way. And again — hat hair.
As we speak, I’m… [Christmas] movie marathoning. The combination of a day of boarding and a filling dinner meant I wasn’t leaving the couch any time soon. I honestly thought of spending the night, but I had no way to deal with my contacts, and the thought of sleeping in them just — no.
. – . – . – .
Your turn! As we speak, I’m… ____________.
Do you have a problem with waiting for things to cool down before you eat/drink them too?
Do you enjoy talking on the phone? I honestly have no idea how I spent hours on it when I was younger…
If you wear them, can you sleep in your contacts?
Amy @ The Little Honey Bee
Be cuter. I dare you. Pretty sure I burn my tongue, um, every morning. Between tea and oatmeal, it’s hazardous. Hope you had an amazing time on the slopes!
Ashley
I’m so glad someone else is weirded out by sleeping in contacts! I accidentally did it once and…never again. I don’t understand how or why people sleep in them regularly. It doesn’t help that I’m super paranoid about getting some kind of eye infection and not being able to wear contacts again, so I just switch to my glasses when I’m getting ready for bed.
I’ve always thought snowboarding looked so fun, but even though I grew up in Colorado which is basically like the ski capital of the U.S. I’ve never been skiing or snowboarding once. My parents never took me so I never learned how to do it. Sledding, though, is definitely the one winter activity I will always enjoy 😉
Rhonda
You look even more stunning than last time- love it :)!
I love getting to spend a day with you lol! Maybe we can even get a family pick next time ( I remember that one of your mum- so lovely!). So as we speak I am preparing breakfast- I am a kiwi 🙂 and it’s looking good- real fluffy pancakes with sugar and cream, lovely too.
Liz @ Carpe Diem and Run
Love the post 🙂
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl
Being on hold is one of the most frustrating experiences! I hope they at least had good music for you?? 😉
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
You know it! Elevator Tunes of the 80’s 😉
Caitlin
Haha after I put a hat on, it stays on thanks to a bad case of hat hair for me, too, which means that I will keep it on all day if I wear one to work in the morning. Helps protect my hair from the Peanut, too, who insists on pulling it constantly when free! I always drink my tea and coffee way too soon, as well. We grabbef starbucks after lunch this weekend, and I drank my latte immediately upon receiving it. Joe asked if I burned my tongue. I told him my tongue has nothing left to burn since it’s too used to heat haha 😉
Becky @ Olives n Wine
As we speak, I’m… at work. Booooo…. No contacts – darn allergies and I dread the phone now which is quite contrary to my teenage self 😉
Ellie@Fit for the soul
Teeeheee you are so cute and funny! 😉 And might I add, you look sooooo good in beanies/hats! It’s something I always notice with people because it’s hard for me to find a hat/beanie that actually suits me.
I love everything I eat extra hot and steamy and it’s probably due to my Korean background. We like to suffer while we eat–just go to a Korean restaurant and you’ll see people slurping on extremely hot stews making “hahhhhh” sounds because it’s “refreshing”, lol.
Hollie
The amount of times I’ve burnt my tongue from too hot of coffee is slightly embarrassing…moving on. I’m glad you are having a good time snowboading and what not. I hate the cold so that is something I will never get into LOL.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
It’s weird because I’m not a fan of the cold either, but that’s one time where I just don’t seem to feel it. I guess being bundled up like a snowman helps 😆
Sarah @pickyrunner
My mom and I are totally guilty of sitting down and watching hours upon hours of holiday movies (and holiday cooking/baking shows). It’s one of my favorite things about Christmas. As jealous as I am that you’re already out there snowboarding, I am happy that it is 70 degrees here instead of freezing cold! Happy Monday 🙂
Lisa C.
I love the snowboarding pictures even though I am not a winter sport person (call me a wuss but I hate having frozen fingers and toes!).
You sure are getting me in the mood for the holidays, though!
Ashley @ Eat Run Live Happy
As we speak I’m eating a huge salad and watching Sex and the City. It’s my lunch tradition now a days!
Alex @ therunwithin
as we speak I have a killer migraine at work – already hating this monday morning because all the shit seems to get thrown down at once. too much? let’s hope this day turns around. so happy you got to go snowboarding, I still can’t believe the snow you got
Ang @ Nutty for Life
I love these selfie posts, I really do. Such a great idea! Do you guys get ABC family in Canada? That might be a silly question but ok. So they have the Countdown to the 25 Days of Christmas movie marathon… which pisses me off. A countdown to a countdown? I like your style much better. Just admitting that you’re in Christmas mode without having to cover it up with a countdown!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I -think- we have it — I’m not too sure since I don’t get cable, so I usually only watch TV when I’m over at someone’s house. But I’m down with a countdown to a countdown if it means more Christmas movies 😀
Lauren
As we speak, I’m watching my dog grab his toy because my dad just pulled in the driveway and, as always, Elmo is ready to go! Lol I always burn my tongue on everything but whenever I drink my coffee it HAS to be super hot to the point it’s hard to drink. I cannot stand being on the phone for more than like 2 minutes. It’s awkward for me now and it is ridiculous to think about how many hours I could spend talking to people when I was younger. Blows my mind.
Taryn
As we speak, I’m listening to Christmas music! I put it off as long as I could, but I just can’t wait any longer.
I absolutely have a problem with waiting for food to cool down.. I’m not sure I’ve ever drank hot chocolate without burning my tongue.
I used to love talking on the phone! Not so much anymore. I’d much rather text with people to plan to see them in person than have a conversation on the phone. Or Skype.. Skype is so much better than the phone.
I just started wearing contacts and I’ve (unfortunately) slept in them twice. The next day SUCKS.
Kelly @ Kelly Runs for Food
Love it, sounds like a good Sunday! As we speak I’m in my office eating a turkey and swiss croissant and it’s awesome.
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
Oh goodness, more selfies! Love them! Every year my dad plans a Christmas movie marathon, so I’m going to need to talk to him and find out when that’s happening – I haven’t watched any Christmas movies yet and I need to get on that.
And I’m pretty sure burning my tongue is one of the main reasons why I don’t actually drink that much tea – always happens!
I haaaaaaaate talking on the phone, unless I need to know something immediately I’m texting. Even when I was a kid, I wasn’t the biggest fan.
I’m so paranoid about sleeping in my contacts. My mom wears them too, and she would always warn me that if I fell asleep in them they would get stuck to my eyes and I’d have to go to the eye doctor to get them removed. So now I always have an extra case stuck in my purse.
Currently, I’m blog-reading, watching Ellen in the background, and have a puppy snoozing on my foot. Not a bad morning 😉 Except I think I’m getting a bit sick…le sigh.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Oooo carrying around an extra case in my purse! See, that’s what smart people do. Me? I just make sure I have food 😆
Sara @ fitcupcaker
as we speak I am savoring my fluffy protein pancakes, relaxing as I enjoy the last couple days of my staycation before I have to go back to work ugh!!
Steph
Love the selfies!
As we speak, I’m writing up lab reports and eating my lunch. At 10 am. It’s one of those days. 😉
And haha, yes to the problem with waiting for foods to cool. Especially food; for drinks it’s kind of hit-or-miss. Usually because I make myself coffee or tea while I’m doing something else, so my drink has ample time to (over) cool.
I kind of hate talking on the phone. It’s always given me anxiety, or else I find it boring (I can’t sit still, but have trouble multitasking while I’m engaged in conversation).
Aaaand I cannot sleep in my contact lenses for the life of me. I find them extremely uncomfortable in the first place, which I why I usually wear my glasses. The day I get Lasik will be a happy day indeed!
Miss Polkadot
Aw, your selfies are so cute! Hope you keep up these posts.
As we speak I’ve just returned from the dentists with a cup of hot tea sitting next to the laptop yet not to be touched for another … three minutes. If you tell me to hold off eating and drinking for thirty minutes after the appointment you better believe I won’t wait a minute longer than that ;). That being said I’m the most impatient person and will never [unless forced after dentist’s appointments] wait for things to cool down. In fact, I might just pop that mug of tea into the microwave if it has cooled down too much for my liking, haha.
While I generally enjoy talking on the phone I can’t do so for hours anymore. Either my arm falls asleep [true!], I get hungry or loose focus because I’m playing around with other things while talking …
Oh, also: I honestly wouldn’t mind to get those socks for myself. Cold feet are no fun but purple feet are – and warm at that!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
😆 Oh the 30 minute dentist rule always drives me crazy. Luckily, my drive home takes about that long so I don’t have to try too hard to stay out of the pantry. But then I always feel so bad for eating anything when my teeth feel so clean!
Lucie
Holy gorgeous Babe!! You make all that snow melt, right?? 🙂
I am sooo jealous of your snowboarding and I would pay a LOT of money (if I could) to join you!! I need to go up in the Alps asap!!
Oh, and hat hair, yes…it looks really beautiful. 🙂
As we speak, I am nibbling on the last piece of pumpkin bread I made yesterday while writing this comment.
shashi @ http://runninsrilankan.com
Yes – I want those purple thermal socks!
As we speak…I am trying to finish typing an answer while holding off on making a trip to download the 2 glasses of water I drank earlier 🙂
Oh yeah – I love super hot cocoa and coffee – and never seem to learn my lessons either! GAH!
I do enjoy talking on the phone – seeing I am FAR away from a lot of people I care about, the phone is my connection source! I used to sleep in my contacts and wake up with what I though were GMO’s in my eyes! But (thankfully) that’s one thing I don’t do any more!
Glad your weekend was lovely! Hope your week is lovelier 🙂
Heather Murphy
Christmas movie marathon Sunday- a girl after my own heart! It’s seriously one of my favorite things to do to relax.. I’m a very impatient person so waiting to eat or drink anything is almost impossible for me..
Melissa
“As we speak, I’m watching Kelly & Michael’s talk show on TV and spending time online.” Also, to answer your other question, yes, I definitely do have a problem waiting for things cool, especially when it comes to coffee!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Kelly and Michael may be one of the shows that I miss most ever since I got rid of cable 😥
Sarah
Love the melon shirt! Please keep up the selfie posts.
As we speak I am sipping sweet harvest pumpkin tea and waiting for the sunrise.
I am not a fan of chatting on the phone although I sometimes talk for quite a while with my sister because she lives in another state.
I cannot sleep in my contacts. Even just nodding off for a few minutes gunks them up. Sometimes I imagine myself in some horrible accident desperately pleading with the paramedics for a contact case.
Obviously I am a woman of priorities.
Have a great start to your week!
Beth @ Mangoes and Miles
If I’m REALLY tired, I can sleep in my contacts–sometimes I accidentally nap with them in. But it’s always a huge pain in the butt to deal with the irritation when I wake up, so I try to minimize that as much as possible. There was one awkward time when I fell asleep for the night with them in, and in the morning, I felt like something was off but I couldn’t quite place it. I put in my contacts like I normally do, and everything was SO blurry and I couldn’t figure out why for like 5 minutes…until I realized that I had two pairs of contacts in. That was fun.
Nicole @ FruitnFitness
I like the as we speak posts, it looks like you had a fun weekend. I’m currently sitting at work drinking warm tea and wishing my office wasn’t freezing. I’m thinking about how excited I am to go to yoga tonight when I get off.
Kat
As we speak Im…wondering why in the hell my neighbor had to get up and start his ridiculously LOUD truck at 530 in the morning (he’s a plumber, mind you). What toilet needs fixing at 530AM?!
Seriously I love these posts babe. So cute.
And Christmas movies already?! Nope, I cant do it. Not until AFTER Turkey Day for us! Although I have been scoping out the Hallmark channel already to see which ones Im going to have to watch 🙂
Im guessing Elf was on your list yesterday? 😉
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
It was! One of my all time favourites 😀 And in all fairness, it IS after Turkey Day here 😉
Holly @ EatGreatBEGreat
Love this! I still haven’t watched any Christmas movies yet. I need to get on that! They’re playing them on the Hallmark channel like 24/7 these days!
I’m the worst at waiting for things to cool down before I eat/drink them. It’s so bad and I always end up burning my mouth then. Ouch!
I hate talking on the phone! I talk on the phone all day look at work, so talking on the phone for pleasure is soooo not appealing by the end of the day!
Nope, can’t sleep in my contacts. If I do, my eyes get super dry and I can barely open them in the a.m.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
You’re the second person to mention a Hallmark channel — I didn’t even know such a thing existed! And it’s the same for me when I sleep in contacts… can’t open my eyes in the morning without feeling like I have metal slivers in them or something 😯
Ksenija @ With An Open Mind
Oh, I love these “as we speak posts” and it always reminds me that I need to take more selfies for the blog myself. I think it’s awesome that you got over the embarrassment and share more of your life with us. Totally selfish here 🙂 Also I have to admit that I am slightly jealous of your snow. It has been cold and rainy for weeks here.
Parita @ myinnershakti
As we speak, I am about to start my work day!
And when Vishnu and I first started dating and when we were in a LDR, I was glued to my phone. It’s what kept my relationship alive! But now that we’re married, the phone is longer a necessity. And even with convos with friends and family, I try to keep them as short as possible. I’d rather email or talk a lot when I see people in person. 🙂 Have a great day!
Alex @ Kenzie Life
Ah Christmas movie marathoning sounds amazing! I’m definitely doing that next week!! Looks like you had a fun day! As we speak I’m eating a sweet and savory toast combo (one egg and cheese, one earth balance and strawberry & blackcurrant cream preserves) and hoping my stats exam goes well this afternoon! Have an awesome day!
Carly @ Snack Therapy
Goooo Amanda! I’m loving all of the shameless selfies lately, especially the one where you’re flashing your melons to the whole blog world…
Yep, I sleep in my contact every single night. Apparently it’s horrible for me, but it’s also so convenient.
As we speak, I’m just dragging my ass out of bed — it’s 5:45am here — and trying to figure out why I feel so nauseated. Urgh.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I slept in my contacts once and I could open my eyes in the morning. I’m sooooo tempted to just get Lasik, but after reading about what the procedure actually involves, it just freaked me right out. Hope you’re feeling better <3
S.D
I’m devouring a yoghurt/cereal mess 🙂 . I despise talking on the phone and always have. I for one am thrilled you decided to do another of these posts. Love all the selfies! And I happen to be completely obsessed with long, fluffy socks. Striped and bright for me.
Heather @fitncookies
As we speak, I’m… loving these posts, haha They are so fun to me because I am super nosy and love what others do. As we speak, though, I am sitting at work without kids because they are at special. I’m enjoying a cup of tea, and can’t wait to get home on my couch tonight! I think I will watch Christmas movies all night, too 🙂 Sounds like the perfect end to the night! I taped a bunch on Hallmark last week, so here’s hoping some will be good!
Jessie
I love these posts. So fun to read. As we speak I am on the floor trying to calm Roxy down. There’s a horrible storm outside & she’s hiding under our living room table. Poor thing – is it rude that I’ve laughed a few times too? Ha Ha! As we speak I’m watching the TODAY show to hear what’s going on in the states.
YES YES YES i have the WORST problem with waiting for things to cool down. Actually about a week n half ago I burnt off my taste buds and couldn’t taste anything for 2 days straight. It was horrible 🙁 🙁 🙁
No contacts here.
Have a fabulous day, darling!
Suzanne @ hello, veggy!
I DO want to socks!! I have a problem with drinking things too hot as well; I’m pretty sure my tastebuds are fried 😛
Davida @ The Healthy Maven
Omg I’m loving all these new selfies! As we speak I’m running seriously late for work but I just had to read your post. And I’m trying to manage a stuffing photoshoot at the same time. Gotta run!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Oh the life of a food blogger 😆 🙄 For what it’s worth, it looked delicious!
meredith @ The Cookie ChRUNicles
As we speak I am drinking hot coffee from almost the exact same Minnie mouse mug as you lol. I have no patience to wait for food to cool down either…as for the phone, I used to be glued to it as a kid but now I think I talk much less, probably because when my son is around, his ears are always ready to listen to my conversations.
