Oh you guys… Thanks so much for all of your input on the whole disclosure issue. Like I said, being more open is definitely something that I struggle with, but it’s also something that I really want to work on. I have no problem expressing opinions and ranting about things that make my left eye twitch [read: that annoy me], but when it comes to talking about my life and the things that go on in it? Yeaaaaaah, not so easy. Working on it though!
I think a lot of it comes down to the fact that I just… don’t think my life is all that interesting? Let’s take a look at today, for example. I woke up [the first time] becauseΒ someone decided that it would be perfectly reasonable to clean the driveway to my building at 2:30 AM. I’m writing a freaking letter.
Woke up [the second time] at a much more reasonable hour and immediately thought it would be grand to take a picture of my phone. Don’t ask. No idea. I can’t explain pre-caffeine thought processes.
Ambled to the kitchen and filled myself up with black tea and food so that my brain would actually start functioning.
Died a little inside….
Looked outside and seriously considered calling in sick. Sucked it up and went to work anyways.
Apparently did nothing for the next 4 hours because there are no pictures to prove it [read: worked]
π―
Ate a lunch that was nothing to write home about…
Had a memory lapse [read: worked some more]
π―
Braved icy roads of doom to go get my hair trimmed…
Caught up on current events while I waited…
Β Took an accidental picture of… I don’t even know…
Grabbed a coffee and rushed home to blog. Drank aforementioned coffee way too fast…
And now I’m sitting here on a Friday night with way too much energy and no idea what to do with it. I’m thinking I should probably look into making dinner soon, but after that? Who knows.Β The boy is out of town for the weekend and Edmonton is currently experiencing a baby blizzard, so going out isn’t all that appealing. Movies and hot chocolate, on the other hand? That definitely sounds doable; but first, dinner! See you guys tomorrow!
. – . – . – .
Any fun plans this weekend?
Ever feel like Β everyone else is living a much more exciting life than you are?
Heather @ Kiss My Broccoli
That’s why you should have had your breakfast IN your almond butter jar…it makes the heartbreak a little more bearable when you get to scrape the sides of the jar free of all almond buttery goodness! Probably could’ve helped with the memory loss throughout the day…just sayin! π
Ugh, my life is SO boring! Well, unless I’m running around St. Louis or eating my way through Atlanta! Hey, I’m doing my best to add a bit of excitement where I can…now I’m going to feel weird when I don’t go anywhere for the next few weeks. Hmm, I need mini-vacay ideas!
PS, You should post pics of yourself more often, gorgeous!
Missy
The thing is… I bet there were a million little things that made you smile during that day as well…a million moments of “feel-good” simple pleasures like a job well done, a fresh trim, a freindly convo with the hairdresser, that first sip of latte…wait.. the smell of it before it hot the tongue.
Not boring.
Though there is no making up for inconveniently running out of nut butter. LOL. But NOW .. you get another moment to look froward to. The opening up and stirring of the next one.
Irina @ Chocolatea Time
Girl if you have a boring life then mine must be the ultimate snooze-ville! What it comes down to is not comparing our life with others but embracing the life that makes us happiest! You do that very well, though π
Is it weird that I’m secretly excited for snow? I know that after first snowfall I’ll be crying inside while missing the warmth, but the wild temps we’ve been having here (warm, then freezing, then warm again) are really getting to me. The snow-plow people are crazy here too…they ALWAYS plow in the middle of the night! Rude…
Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Lisa
Ick to waking up at that hour. I always feel like I live such a boring life and other people are way more interesting ha. I’m pretty sure a lot of people feel this way though. I LOVE your boots! Those are the cutest! I’m boot obsessed right now. You are also gorgeous! I always love getting my hair done. It’s so soothing. I’m jealous at all the snow you guys get over there, when we get none here. Boo to that!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Oh don’t be jealous! It may be pretty to look at, but it’s a complete nightmare to live with. The roads are absolute death.
kris
woah, snow! – i wonder why they thought 2am would be the perfect time to be cleaning the drive? letter def needs to be written.
i think movies and hot chocolate sounds plenty exciting! – sometimes that just sounds like a perfect friday night to me! especially when theres a baby blizzard out there.
it’s kind of funny because this baby blizzard you speak of – we had something similar a few years ago (actually it was probably even less snow for us) – pretty much closed our entire city for about a week. no school or work for days. obviously we, texans, do not handle snow well…
Brittany
I always feel like my life sounds boring, yet so many people come back to read about my ramblings!! I think this day of yours sounds perfect. I am craving a busy life again.
Hayley @ Running on Pumpkin
A lot of my blog posts that are just on typical week days I think “Who would actually be interested in reading about my boring daily life?” But I realize some of my favorite posts from bloggers are just their daily ramblings about nothing too important! PS I’m sure it’s not as fun as it seems to me but I am beyond jealous that it’s snowy there!!! My hometown has had a light snowfall once in my life π
Danielle @ Clean Food Creative Fitness
Hahaha love this post because it is my life too! Nothing too exciting over here either other than blogging, working, hanging with the puppy…lol I think we need to spice things up a little! Happy weekend π
Lucie
Oh Dear believe me, my life is so normal and boring almost every day. But I am so ok with it. I had times when my life was exciting but in a negative way. Nothing was normal and I had to function somehow that I could stand all these emotional and sometimes sad happenings every day. I can not tell you how grateful I am that my life today is normal and boring – but much happier.
Linz @ Itz Linz
you drank coffee on a friday night?! i can’t have caffiene past noon!! haha i’m super sensitive to it! last night i had no plans (and the hubs was at a bball game) so i went to my sisters and had a good ole family night with my brother, sister, nephews, and niece!! low key weekends are the best!
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin
Oh gosh, big yes to your second question. This semester has just been non-stop school work for me. In fact I spent my Friday night editing a 31 page group project. I know, I’m such a party animal. π
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I dunno, girl… 31 pages sounds pretty crazy to me π
Katie
You are just absolutely beautiful, just had to say that! Love the hair! I wish my hair was tame like yours!
We are being a little lazy around here this weekend, family dinner night last night and tonight Mike and I are supposed to do a dinner date together! Nothing to cray cray! We tend to hibernate as it gets colder!
Happy weekend! <3
Brittany @ Itty Bits of Balance
Oh wow, I can’t believe that the view from the outside of your window actually looks like that! This Miami girl has never even seen snow in her life! π It’s very sad.
Trade with me?
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
You can have it -all-. We’re basically buried here!
Aimee
Movies and hot chocolate sound kind like the perfect Friday night during a storm! My weekend will consist of running errands – gosh after the major storm we had here it will be nice just to get out and get those much needed jobs ( food shopping, bank, etc) done!
Jess
I can’t work out if your hair is a before or an after shot, but whichever it is it’s absolutely gorgeous.
Hmm, from reading blogs I think I’ve actually realised that most people’s lives are *not* more exciting than mine, aside from the occasional ‘big’ bloggers who get free trips, sponsorships and free marathons all over the country. But that’s because blogging is their job, so these opportunities become self-serving in terms of providing post content. For the majority of us, life isn’t spectacularly interesting but I still enjoy reading about other people’s day-to-day activities. I don’t think it’s necessary to post extensively about the minutiae of life, but if it’s something you’d like to do then you have a gift of making even the smallest things engaging – it’s called being a talented writer!
I used to think that my life sucked and everyone else’s was soooo much better, but actually reading blogs has made me realise that I might be discontent with how things are for me, but most other people are in the same situation. We’re all chasing one dream or another, and nobody has an ‘exciting’ time of it every day.
xxx
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
It was actually a before shot, and thank you π I think blogging has actually made me realize the same thing about life – that it’s pretty much as interesting as someone makes it out to be. There are definitely those who seem to seem to lead more glamourous lives, but for most people it’s just the same old routine, day-in, day-out, with only their personalities shining through to make it more interesting.
Miss Polkadot
Definitely – my life seems like the most uneventful ever compared to about every other person’s/blogger’s. Just the usual going to university, occasionally working, meeting friends – but I guess it’s okay as long as you’re feeling fine. I’ve been a bit unhappy with my life as of late and think I need to get more efficient/use my time more wisely.
Taking photos of random things happens a lot for me, too. Uploading pictures from my camera makes me laugh at myself at times …
I’ll take your advice on stocking up on Kleenex before – hopefully finding the time – finishing “The Art of Racing in the Rain” this weekend. I admittedly am a fan of happy ends, still, though I feel like I was “too old” for that way of thinking …
Nicole
Your breakfast looks superb!
& you’re beautiful
& I cannot wait until snow starts to fall here. I know, every one else can, but I’m one out of 10 people in the country that loves herself a snow day (or week. or two weeks). Maybe it’s because I don’t have to drive in it? or could it possibly be because we don’t experience blizzards here in Washington? Does it have anything to do with the fact that snow has yet to trap me in my house for days? I guess Seattle-folk are just spoiled when it comes to snow – we usually get the mild side of it. I know most of us still hate it, though.
Gina @ Health, Love, and Chocolate
Don’t worry I feel like this all the time, but I like my (sometimes) boring life :-). I also feel your pain on the empty almond butter jar…
Jessie
Oh i can definitely relate. My days are basically the same every day. I go as far as eating at the same time each day, and almost having the same exact meals a day. Since I don’t have really any friends out here, life can get a little.. I wouldn’t say boring, but just bleh from time to time. It’s also no fun that the husband works 6 10-12 hour days a week. It gets hard, but I knew moving out here w/ him that this would be the way of life for a little while. I think of it like it’s only a couple years of my life.. and as long as I’m with my husband, life can’t get much better.
ps.. and in response your comment on your last post, we’ll have to reschedule our cereal date for a new weekend haha!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Awwr yeah it’s not so bad if it’s only a couple of years, and at least you get to be with the guy you love – that’s the most important.
sarah
Life doesn’t have to be packed with big events & major excitement everyday to be just lovely:).
And I very much enjoy reading about the simpler goings on, as well as seeing your face on the blog! The feeling of freshly chopped, hairdresser washed, salon smelling hair is like the best thing ever. Little stuff like that is often enough to bring enjoyment to my days… So I guess you could say I am a smidgen boring, I’m cool with it:p.
Xxx
Shelly
Regarding the driveway cleaning: I’m sorry you were woken at an ungodly hour! But…it’s a good thing that it gets done, anyway. When I lived in Burlington, Vermont, I was often woken by street cleaning (i.e., front-end loaders & dumptrucks) around that time. However, here in Reno, they sold 90% of the snowplows (to other cities) a while back, and now they plow only a few roads. That’s a problem when five feet of snow falls, and every few years, that happens.
Katy
I ALWAYS feel like people are living a more exciting life than me but I am living my life the way that I want to and that’s all that matters!
You’re gorgeous, by the way π
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Awwwr. Thanks Katy <3
Kate
lol my life isn’t all that exciting either!! I think life is just a lot of repetitive, boring moments and days that sum up to exciting things – it’s the big goals we’re working towards, the people that come and go, the big picture of the life we create – as long as the things you do day in and day out build up to something meaningful then hey – that’s how it’s supposed to be I think. After all, “success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out” right? π At least you’ve got hot cocoa and movies to look forward to – actually I might watch some Gossip Girl on dvd (I just admitted to owning that….lol) and do my nails and have some chocolate and strawberries π
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
I do schoolwork and I blog. Sometimes, I go to the gym or I might watch a movie once in a while – definitely not the most exciting life in existence! I’m looking forward to the holiday season because shopping, Christmas baking and holiday parties will give me that much more stuff to do π
This weekend involves a lot of errands (read: laundry, cleaning, groceries, packing for Chicago) but I’m planning on baking some cookies Saturday and my parents are coming up to visit Sunday. Both things I can get excited about π
Alex @ therunwithin
oh the dreaded mistake of having a coffee too late. Man I wish I could help you out. sounds like you have had some long nights, I hope you get to sleep in at some point this weekend.
Nicole
You are so cute! Love your hair. Looks like an “after” picture but is likely “before” considering the sequence of pictures… BUT, it still looks really pretty π And this weekend is a glorious 3-day weekend. But I hope to go shopping with the mama, and staying in reading with the cold weather finally coming in!
Chelsie @ Balance, Not Scale
You make the most of the life you live. Did you ever see the Sex and the City episode when Samantha says “It’s all about the way you phrase it … ” and then she plucks herself up and says (seductively) “Iiii work in PRrrr”. Life is what you make it. I think that yummy breakfast, productive workday, SUPER CUTE haircut, frivolous time well wasted on JT and JB and a yummy coffee would TOTALLY make for a cute day. There is ALWAYS something to talk about and there will ALWAYS be someone to listen. I know you’ve got shine, girl!! You just need the confidence and gumption to put it to good use!!! xo
(Ps. Apparently the computers are down at work, so I might not get an email out tonight, but it might be better saved for boyless weekend afternoon reading!!) π Love ya, chicka!!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I think it’s time to catch up on some good old SATC… might help make the boyless weekend afternoon pass by faster, at least while I wait for you to write me back. No pressure π

My life is BORING! Hence the reason I am on a blogging break…
