EeeeeEeeEeEEE. 37 days and counting π
Sorry. I promise not to be this unbearably annoying over the course of the next 5 weeks, I just tend to get a little overly excited. So much so, that I’ll use any excuse I can find to stalk my new digs…
Decaf with a splash of soy.
There’s a Starbucks literally 20 feet from the front of my new building, so when my real estate agent called me after dinner last night and told me that she needed me to sign some papers (ugh when will it end?!), I may or may not have casually suggested that we meet there…
Feels like home already π
Feels like Fall, too; or maybe that’s just wishful thinking. The weather outside still screams summer…
… but inside it’s beginning to feel a lot like Fall, which might explain why I was hit with an intense craving for pumpkin this morning – a craving that I knew justΒ how to satisfy…
I whipped up a simple pumpkin pudding by blending togetherΒ Β½ cup of canned pumpkin,Β ΒΌ cup of almond milk, 1 medjool date, and a few dashes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. I paired that with a pimped-out rice cake that was topped with almond butter and honey…
… and kicked my cravings and hunger to the curb. Boom!
Fall-ish feelings might also explain why I got bit by the baking bug this afternoon…
[Blissful Banana Bread with chocolate chips]
There’s nothing I love more than being in a warm kitchen on a crisp Fall day, and while today was anything but crisp, and my kitchen was closer to sweltering than it was to warm, the results were more than worth the sweat-fest…
And, yes, I realize that there’s nothing Fall-ish about reindeer plates, but Fall also means that Christmas is that much closer, and who doesn’t love Christmas? π
Summer is swell, but I’m more than ready for Fall. The beautiful colors. The coziness. The intoxicating smell in the air… only 43 more days to go…Β and 37 more days ’till I move. EeeEeeEEE!
See you guys tomorrow for WIAW!
. – . – . – .
School/work aside, what’s your favorite season and why?
What’s your favorite thing to order at Starbucks?Β I’ll admit that I’m a noobie when it comes to Starbucks. When I go out to grab a coffee, it’s usually at a Canadian chain called Second Cup, so I have no idea what’s good at ‘bucks, and I have a feeling I’ll be spending a decent amount of time there after I move…
Yoojin
amanda, i love your blog so much that i ALWAYS read your archives tweets.. even though i’ve already read all these posts.. <3
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Aww Yoojin — thanks so much for such a sweet comment π
Kat
I still love summer, even though I have summer classes. Oh the joys of student life.
White chocolate soy mocha. Do it. Good for you? No. Delicious? Yes. Since you’re Canadian, Blenz makes the same thing and it might even be a little cheaper than $tarbucks. No clue about Second Cup, though.
lifttorun
I like summer the most in Oregon at least because it doesn’t rain and the weather is always perfect. Fall is when it’s really beautiful, but it’s raining. Boooo.
Laura Agar Wilson
I am soooo with you on the fall thing, I’m just so over this summer, well, you can’t call what we’ve had in the UK summer really but I can not wait for the fall!
Lauren
I love love love Summer, but that moment between Summer and Fall is purely magical. Perfect temperatures π And I’m ridiculously excited for the return of the pumpkin spice latte at the Bux. But when it’s not pumpkin spice season, I go for the chai, soy with just two pumps. Yum!
Meg
Wheeee LOVE fall! Definitely my favorite season, especially at the beginning when it’s still sunny but there’s a cool breeze. Plus, I have an excuse to go fall clothes shopping which are my favorite clothes to buy!
I always just get coffee or green tea or ICED coffee. Yummy! I honestly sometimes just sit in starbucks for the smell. Weirdo…
That bread looks amazing!!
Marissa
Fall has always been my favorite season, but in the past couple years I’ve slowly started to like summer more! I just hate being cold, and fall means that winter is coming. Though, I love winter because its Christmastime and that’s the absolute BEST time of year. π So I guess I’m just indecisive.
I used to be obsessed with Starbucks… I haven’t gotten one in over a year though! During the winter I would always get either the pumpkin spice or the gingerbread latte. And during the summer I would get a mocha frappachino!
Shelley (findinghappinessandhealth)
I lOVE FALL so muchhh!!!! I like summer, but not when it is unbearably hot and humid..spring is nice too π so i guess everything but winter? which i actually like as well sometimes..haaha guess i just like it all.
LOVE starbucks- I actually am a huge fan of a simple misto with coffee, soy and sugar free vanilla..it tastes so good!
Sweet Cheeks
oh how I love Fall! I’m definitely looking forward to an abundance of pumpkin. It’s all about pumpkin everything for me. mmmm!
I like starbucks but most of the time I just make my own coffee, either hot or iced, at home. Saves me bunches of money, so I have more to spend on food, haha. But i really like their unsweetened iced teas…chai, green, any!
kris (everyday oats)
hehe I love how you suggested to meet up by your new condo. I would’ve probably done the same thing π
I usually stick with the same things in any coffee shops I go to…a coffee (iced in the summers) with a splash of soy. Decaf if it’s after noon. So pretty much what you had π
I totally got bit by the baking bug yesterday too! I wanted to make gingersnaps, but since they were such a fall/winter-y goody I settled for something else. My favorite season is definitely fall, well more like winter where I live, since that’s when we get our fall weather. But I love that time when I can start pulling out those sweaters, scarves, and boots, and feeling that cool breeze through the air. I also like that feeling of breathing in a big breath of cool fresh air. ahhhh. Now I can’t wait for winter π
seegirlsmile
I’m putting in my 60 day notice today…i can’t live with this girl anymore…the bugs, the damp, no air, oh god the bugs and stuff…not good for me now…
those enjoy life granola bars…i heat them up in microwave for 10 seconds and they get soft, and chewy and dump them in yogurts, etc…good.
Paulina (One Smile Ahead)
Autumn is my favorite season all the way! It’s so festive and there’s pumpkin, cinnamon, ginger. Can’t wait! Plus the weather is cool which is always nice. It’s always super exciting because Christmas is coming too π My favorite thing at Starbucks is a soy latte! I haven’t tried anything fancy from there yet, except for the iced green tea latte. It’s was really good, but a little too sweet. I think they should be able to cut the sweetener out though. I’m so excited for you!! I love countdowns haha.
Alexandra
hey i was looking at your recipe for banana bread and i was wondering — why don’t you use oil in your baking?
Jessica
Too high in calories… thought we covered this in one of your posts…!

I’m definitely a summer girl! I love the warm evenings and lingering sunsets. I love grilling veggies outside and jumping in a pool afterwards. I love being able to slip on one or two pieces of clothing, sliding my feet into flip-flops and looking *somewhat* put together (in under two minutes!). BUT, I also loooove the comfort that comes with fall. The warm, spicy smells that permeate from the kitchen during this time of year are aaahmaazing. And somehow food always tastes better to me when it’s cold outside. π
Oh, and then there’s Christmas…and adorable reindeer plates (love yours!). I use my Santa mug year-round. He makes me smile in the morning no matter what the season. π
Cait's Plate
Gah! I’m feeling Fallish too and this post just made me even MORE excited for it! π

Just out of curiosity, I’d be interested in your take on this string of comments…

I mean, I don’t want to put you on the spot, and I know you’ve tried to address this in some previous posts… but… I don’t know :

WINTER. I’m a Christmas junkie, so the only reason fall is great is because Christmas is that much closer. No judgment here for celebrating early with your reindeer plate.
Iced americano from Starbucks when it’s hot outside. Chai or pumpkin nonfat latte when it’s cold out. Anything but their coffee!
Tiff
I’m a fall freak. Love love love it. This summer has been exceptionally good though, so I will be a little sad to see it go. Thank goodness I have fall to look forward to. Actually, I thought it felt fall-ish outside this morning when I was leaving the gym. Wishful thinking? Hmmmm… possibly
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin
Fall is definitely my favourite season! I love the cozy fashions, Thanksgiving, squash and root vegetables, fall hikes, going apple picking… ahh, it’s making me excited just thinking about it!
I’m such a bad Canadian… I almost never go to Second Cup haha. π I love vanilla lattes from Starbucks!
kabochafashion
That pumpkin combo…wowww. I’m recreating that!! I’m all over pumpkin and Fall flavors at the moment. I’m over Summer!! Fall is definitely my fave – pumpkin, squash, gingerbread, cinnamon…mmmm LOVE it π
Ooohh being that close to Starbucks is going to be DANGEROUS hahaa!! Argh I really want to try all the fancy flavors you guys get over there like the pumpkin spice lattes etc, we don’t get all the yummy sounding ones that I want grrr! The most exciting one we get is probably a gingerbead latte. My favorite one (that I can get all year everywhere) is just a simple americano with sugar-free vanilla syrup and a side of soy. But I WILL try a special one someday when I go abroad!
Brittany @ Itty Bits of Balance
I tell everyone that I have no season censor because no matter whether its spring, summer, winter, or fall, I will ALWAYS be incorporating harvest-y meals into my day. I have a slight fixation with anything pumpkin so that might have something to do with it…
Speaking of which! During the November months you NEED to try the pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks! It’s a seasonal drink, so I wait all year long for this baby. Completely worth it though π
The green tea latte is also a favorite of mine too!
haveasliceofkatypie
I’ve always found it so strange how Americans and Canadians love the Fall (We call it Autumn :P). That’s always been my least favourite month. Right up there with Winter. Is it because many of the big holidays fall around then? I just dooooooooon’t get it!
I’ve always been a HUGE fan of Summer. Our Summers here aren’t all that extreme so it doesn’t get uber uncomfortable or anything. Although I have to say Winter here at the moment is reminding me a lot about Summer!!

I am so envious of canned pumpkin! There’s no such thing over here.
I love summer so much, I look forward to it all year long and mourn it when it’s over. Fun, light clothes, sunshine, breezy warm evenings, Christmas season – it’s the whole festival lifestyle it brings.
I think I must live in one of the few cities in the world where Starbucks is yet to make an appearance. All the hundreds of different combinations and varieties you can order for one coffee makes me laugh! But when I’ve been in the US I think it was just a non-fat soy macchiato that did it for me. Yum!
Amanda @ Running with Spoons
Haha I keep forgetting that you guys have the opposite seasons of us. I was like… Christmas in summer? Whaaa? But I can understand why it would make you love summer more π
Ragnhild
I dont know if it matters, but i was borned in November and I havre always liked that time of the year most! Like fall and winter is my favorits! And my sister and brothers are the same way, and we are all born at the same time π
While I like summer too, it kind of makes me happy when it get dark earlier and everything is just warm and cosy inside, and cold and.. cosy outside π
I really like the idea of pumpin on rice cake with AB! I love to roast pumpin and drizle over some AB or tahini! I think I need to do that today!
Cant wait for your WIAW today!
<3

I used to be obsessed with the frappucinos at Starbucks! These days, I am loving their chai tea lattes- absolutely to die for!
leelu201
I don’t usually drink coffee at Starbucks. I think the whole brand is slightly overrated. I’d much rather settle for a coffee in a small, quaint coffee shop.
My favorite season is undeniably summer. I love the heat, the ice-cream afternoons and long, light evenings. Ah, I’m so sad it’s almost over π
Amanda @ Running with Spoons
I’ve never been big on SB either, which is why I have no idea what to order there π I might have to look around to see if there are any quiet, hole-in-the-wall coffee shops around.
buttonss - Cherie
You may find yourself spending lots of $$$ on coffee once you move in! haha
I live around the corner from my work (im a barista at a coffee shop similar to starbucks) and luckily for me I get free coffee, otherwise I think I would be spending so much on coffee.
Seriously, some people come in and get the largest size, extra caramel, triple shots at least two times a day. And I just think, wow.. how you can you afford that?
My favourite drinks are usually a hot or iced chai latte on soy milk, or a simple americano (long black) with soy on the side. I use to be obsessed with white chocolate mochas though, at work we even put white chocolate flakes on top that melt and get all gooey and delicious.
That photo you took of that cup is so pretty. Your photos are always so good.
Ohh banana bread with chocolate chips? that sounds beyond amazing.
Lenna (veganlenna)
Sad true but I have never been to Starbucks π But you know, it actually doesnΒ΄t make me sad, I am not much a fan of places like this, I prefer little cosy caffes and Starbucks (at least in my town) is the exact opposite.
My fave season is fall – everything is pretty, colourful, a bit melancholic.
That pumpkin pudding looks delicious!!
debbiecutieface
oh gosh, when I was living in NYC I lived RIGHT next to a Starbucks and well…it got dangerous! My poor wallet π
I can’t wait for fall either! Best season, hands down.
Albizia
I crave pumpkin all summer long. No associations with fall at all. In the past pumpkin was considered Christmas food but now I can eat anytime. How about some well cooled pumpkin salad with cottage cheese or cream cheese? Mmm… Love it!
I don’t know which my favorite season is but it is not spring. When it’s summer, I love winter the most. When it’s winter, I love summer. Fall is neutral. Spring is the only season I don’t like regardless of when I am asked.
Amanda @ Running with Spoons
I’m not that big on SPring, either. Too cold and wet, and still ugly from winter.
almostveggirlie
I’m kinda sad that fall’s coming up, because I adore summer! I just live for the warm weather and sunshine, plus my birthday being in July is a bonus. And I love summer clothes more than anything, especially fun dresses and sandals. But fall is probably my second favorite season.
I would love to live that close to a Starbucks, but it probably would suck for my wallet π I love their skinny or soy iced lattes and the light frapps. The holiday drinks are too good to pass up, though!
cucumbersincollege
I love fall too! π obviously summer is great because im out of school but i still prefer the pretty leaves and milder temperatures! and starbucks plain coffee isnt very good :/ so id recommend getting a specialty drink.. my favs are either plain latte (any other kind is TONS of sugars/syrups) or dirty chai tea lattes (chai tea latte +shot of espresso)
sunshinevegan
Aww yayyy you got your own place π and it’s close to a starbucks! I alwqays get a tea whenI go there. I ced or hot depending on the weather.
I like all the season, just the fact that the change and give me somethng to look forward to and by the time oone is over, I’m ready for what the next has to bring π
Laura
Oh my, I want me some pumpkin now. & Christmas music
I’m excited for you to move in, but be careful about the sbucks, it becomes an addictive habit and you may or may not start a new habit of making a purchase EVERY day. It adds up! I am a starbucks fiend, though also canadian. Iced americano, frapps, soychai, pikeplace roast, i love it all. π
