We’re playing favourites today. Kind of.
Because while I wouldn’t be able to tell you my favourite colour, song, movie, actor, number, or food, I can tell you that muffins are my absolute favourite thing in the world to bake [and eat]. For the most part. Cookies and bars are pretty high up there too, but muffins take the cake.
See, I’m a carb-loving girl through and through, so biting into the soft and fluffy doughiness of a muffin makes me weak in the knees. Pair that with a warm mug of coffee or tea, and there’s my idea of comfort [snack] food right there… especially if said muffin is as big as my face. And loaded with chocolate. Or bananas. Or both. Swooooon.
And the best part is that, in addition to being absolutely delicious, muffins can actually be pretty darn healthy. Need proof? I just so happen to have a collection of MUST-TRY healthy and comforting muffin recipes for you today. Whether they’re gluten-free, vegan, made with whole wheat flour, Greek yogurt in place of oil, or natural sugars in place of refined ones, each of these muffin recipes is good for both the body and soul. Just click on the link or picture to go straight to the recipe!

Man these all sound so good! I love that you put all of this together but now how am I supposed to be able to choose which one to make first?!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Right?! You could just start with the first one and make your way down the list 😛
Emily
Man these all look so good! I’m finally into the fall baking … I’m not just in the mood for it now. I’m actually doing it. While I write, I’m baking pumpkin bread. WoOT!
Jen @ Chase the Red Grape
I thought I wasn’t so phased with muffins and then I saw this post! They all look so good.
I think if I could choose any muffin to eat right now it would be banana and choc chip! I used to be a baker and loved making tasty treats but I must admit now I much prefer cooking savoury food so if we are going to bake then David does it!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
How about this — I move to Australia and live in your spare room You can cook me dinner and I’ll do all the baking — my cooking skills are definitely subpar!
Jen @ Chase the Red Grape
Deal! The room is ready and waiting for you!
Brittany
You just can’t go wrong with a soft, pillow like muffin. I now want one of each of these…all at once.
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
Ohhh, it’s hard to pick what my favourite thing is to bake. I love making cakes, but my decorating skills are less than awesome so I don’t love that part. I make a pretty fabulous cookie though. And pies are fun.
As for muffins – Morning Glory muffins. So good. Chocolate chip is a close second though.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
You can come make cakes for me! They’re probably my -least- favourite because of how much work goes into them… I usually end up using a box mix 😆
Sheena @ Paws and Pavement
Yu m thanks for sharing! I want to try the flourless pb muffins. I love baking muffins so will definitely try it out!
Tamieka@ Fitballingrunningmom
yummy!!
I was just thinking about what I can make with oats and banana and then you have that yummy Banana Oat Greek Yogurt Muffins-cant wait to try them this weekend! Thanks
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Hope you love them, Tamieka! They’re definitely a blog favourite.
Culinary Favorites From A to Z
We love healthy muffins. They’re almost impossible to buy so having some good recipes is important.
Shashi at RunninSrilankan
Oooh-just the thought of one of those chocolate zucch muffins paired with a warm mug of coffee is making me swoon! What an epic collection this is – thanks oodles Amanda!
Rachael @ Catch Me if You Can
can you just come and make these all for me and i can get fat off of muffins? k thanks 🙂
Hayley @ Full of Life
Muffins are my favorite baked good to make and eat. Love this and want them all!
Kelly @ Kelly Runs for Food
Ok, I normally only bake once a month, but I need to make some muffins this weekend!! All of these look amazing, so thanks for sharing!
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
All of these look freaking amazing, and now I’m suddenly starving. Would it be too much trouble to ask for one of each? Wait, better make it two.
Muffins just might be my favorite baked good, definitely more so than cookies. They’re just so fluffy and comforting.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
We should have done some baking last week! We could have used your fancy Polish pottery 😉
Hollie
I’ve been craving muffins and chocolate lately to be honest. I’m glad I’m not the only one. My favorite kind is definitely anything with a ton of chocolate. Thanks for putting this together!
Sarah @ Making Thyme for Health
Oh yes, I feel the same way about muffins. I just had one smeared with almond butter for breakfast…the BEST.
I’m honored to be included in your round-up, lady! Especially because my recipe has peanut butter. 😉
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Yeaaaah I tried not to be too judgmental — especially because AB can always step in <3
Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious
Well you know I will never pass on a good muffin. Now to decide which will be first to try!

I love muffins and this is a really great selection you’ve shared Amanda. Thanks! 🙂
Ellen @ My Uncommon Everyday
Eeeek muffins actually make me ridiculously happy – I should bake some soon! I don’t discriminate between types much. Chocolate? Apple? Pumpkin? Berry? If it’s warm and fluffy and comforting, I’m in!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
You know I love the way you think 😀
Aubrey @ Just Balancing Health
Muffins are the best! I used to go to Mimi’s Cafe specifically for muffins haha!
rachel @ athletic avocado
my favorite thing to bake is probably quick breads and my fav muffins off all time are the giant apple streusel muffins from costco, so good! These all look amazing!
Alyssa @ Renaissancerunnergirl
YUM, just in time for me to bake giant batches of muffins to eat at work (I almost fell over from being snack-less on the first day, never again!)
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Oh man — that’s the worst. I’ve been in that situation more times than I care to admit, so now I’m pretty adamant about always having something to eat on hand.
Erin @ The Almond Eater
You are kind of the muffin [wo]man, so I’m not surprised they’re your favorite food to make 😀 Awesome round up!
Michele @ paleorunningmomma
My son is over my shoulder right now begging me to bake saying “chocolate!!!” so I think he’d be clicking on every picture if I gave him the chance. LOVE this roundup!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Hehe! That totally sounds like what I did to my mom when I was younger. But that was the days before Pinterest and food blogging.
lindsay
muffins are MY FAV!!! because they go so well with coffee. always! <3
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I love the way you think <3
meredith @ Cookie ChRUNicles.com
My favorite thing to bake is probably still cookies but I do like a nice muffin. My heart forever belongs to Dunkin Donuts chocolate chip muffins with the sugar crystals on top — however– Whole Foods had a nice muffin selection the other day!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
You’re killing me here — we don’t have either of those places in Canadaland!
