Hellooooo you friendly faces, you! And happy Sunday to ya 😀
In case you missed it, there’s a caramel apple overnight oatmeal smoothie that’s calling your name…
… and mine too, seeing as I’ve currently got one sitting in the fridge waiting to be blended up and eaten for breakfast tomorrow morning (read: today).
So hey! It’s time to share some good links from the past week! And if you’re wondering why there aren’t any health or fitness ones this time around, it’s because those are always the hardest for me to scrounge up and I didn’t come across any this week that I loved.
My biggest problem with a lot of health and fitness related links is that they tend to send the wrong kind of message and use too many absolute statements… Thou shalt not eat this. Thou shalt exercise like this… It opens the door for guilt to start creeping in if you feel like you’re not doing what you “should,” and that’s just not okay #rantover. So none of those for this week, but lots of life, blogging, and food related stuff… so I hope you find something good to read!
For my head…

I echo your thoughts on the health and fitness articles. I struggle with what I ‘should’ be doing and what I feel like doing a lot. I’ve been embracing more relaxing exercise like walks and shorter workouts lately and it takes a lot of the pressure off!
Thanks for the link love 🙂
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
Hope you’re having a great weekend love! Definitely reading the ketchup article because really…1-2 tbsp as a serving size is just wildly, wildly inaccurate 😉
yesterday: went to the gym, watched a million episodes of parks & rec, took the pug for a rainy walk.
today: ran 14 miles, went to a blogger brunch, then working for a few hours tonight.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
14 miles! #rockstar
Hollie
Thanks for sharing all of these. As always, I enjoy reading your link up posts. I always find so much information!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Glad you enjoy them, Hollie! Hope you’re having a great long weekend.
Sam @ PancakeWarriors
Ok I’m so checking out those paleo pancakes but only after your apple cinnamon overnight oat smoothie, who would have thought of this awesome combo. Love all the blogging links. 3 things I did yesterday: went to a party to welcome home a friend that served overseas the past year, went on a long walk and made some stuffed french toast, which was perfection! Enjoy your day!
meredith @ The Cookie ChRUNicles
Agreed on the fitness articles. I don’t read most of them! 3 things yesterday – long run, shopping, dinner in the city…3 things today – I slept late (!!!!) and not sure what we are doing the rest of today but it’s really nice outside!
Miss Polkadot
I -knew- you’d feature that post by The Nectar Collective when I saved it for next week’s post [because I only got around to reading up on their blog when today’s post was already finished]. But it’s a good one so worth sharing again :).
Three things I did/will do today: met a friend, went for a walk and will [have to] do some paperwork later. Bonus thing I’ll do today/am doing just now: Marvel at the curiosity of the weather. Bright sunshine with sudden unexpected burts of rain.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Oh those sunny/rainy days are my favourite! We’ve had plenty of rain this weekend — no sun, though 😕
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
Happy Sunday my friend.
You already know how I feel about list posts and social media so I loved those two links. I also read the ways to simplify your life and while I’m doing many of those things, I feel a strong and overwhelming urge to clean everything and I do mean, everything: walls, cupboards, drawers, floors, etc.. For reasons only you would understand, I feel like this will be my last opportunity to scrub the hell out of everything and I long for the false sense of control it will give me.
Yesterday: wedding, appetizers out with friend, and then wedding reception.
Today: a little blog reading before heading to the grocery store and then off to a family party for the vast majority of the day. I’ve got eggplant roasting in the oven now for a non-traditional salad. Speaking of which, thanks for sharing my link.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Want to know what really helped me get over my control freak tendencies? Really internalizing the fact that I have no control over the majority of things that happen in my life — only in how I react to them. I know it sounds counterintuitive, but it really did take a massive weight off and taught me how to make the best of what comes my way.
Daisy @ Fit Wanderlust Runner
Sleep, work, and sleep! Those are the three things I’ve done this weekend. Oh the life of a night shift worker.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Mad respect for anyone who does shift work! I honestly have no idea how I’d manage…
Heather@hungryforbalance
I know what you mean about the fitness related articles. They use strong trigger words on purpose. I always love your section on blogging tips. I hope you are having a great weekend!
Cassie @ Almost Getting it Together
Totally agree with you re: fitness posts. It’s been frustrating to see lately! That Apartment Therapy one was gold… always so many good posts from them.
Yesterday: Humidiest (is that a word), hottest run ever, my dad made dinner for Angela and me, then Ang and I went out for drinks
Today: Run with my dad, family party… ???
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
At least we have about a year before we get hit with more “bikini body workouts” 😆 Bring on the leggings and chunky sweaters!

If you’re not into absolutes or things that encourage restrictive behaviours, you should moderate and NOT allow link-ups from Strength and Sunshine. If you’ve ever read her blog or seen her skeletal pictures, it’s basically a guide on how to have an eating disorder (same with Healthy Helper.) It’s your link-up and you have that power. It sends a mixed message. I normally love your blog, but letting those through is very disappointing.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
The reason I don’t moderate these link love posts is because it becomes a really slippery slope and opens the door for way too much judgement — another thing I’m not big on. As someone who’s been on the receiving end of plenty of unfair and incorrect judgment, I’d rather not do the same to anyone else. Readers know that the links I include in the post are the ones I stand behind, while the ones in the linkup are up to them to assess.
Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious
I was honestly thinking in last weeks link love that you should do food, life and blogging links so when you actually did that today it freaked me out a little like did I dream that or what?
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Bahahaha! That ketchup post was made for me 😉
Michele @ paleorunningmomma
Thanks for linking to my pancakes! I need to read the social media post now, I am totally feeling overwhelmed lately and need tips! Have a great Sunday 🙂
