. thinking out loud .

I love to write, I really do, but I’ll be the first to admit that there are times where the words just won’t come and I end up staring at my computer screen, cursing the blinking cursor that taunts me from the pages of a blank document.

Writer’s block — it happens to the best of us, and at the best times, too!

While I haven’t found a way to avoid it completely, I have found a way to make it a little easier to overcome. How? By thinking out loud. By abandoning the pressure and traditional structure that comes with trying to write a perfect piece and just writing about whatever it is that pops into my head — letting the stream of consciousness flow, if you will. The result may not be life-changing or mind-blowing, but it’s 100% genuine and authentic — it’s the quirky random thoughts that make me, me.

It’s also pretty fun 😉

So after about a year of carrying out the practice on my own, I decided… why not create a linkup to try and get others in on the fun? And that’s how Thinking Out Loud was born…

Thinking-Out-Loud2

What it is…

A weekly celebration of quirks and randomness! An opportunity to take the pressure and stress out of writing by sharing whatever it is that happens to pop into your mind when you begin to type — all worries about sense and structure pushed aside. A collection of random and disjointed thoughts, just because.

How to join…

  • Write a post full of random thoughts, pictures, and/or musings. It can be numbered or bulleted — whatever you feel works best. Just be random, get silly, and have fun. There really are no rules when it comes to how or what you write.
  • Grab that snazzy button up there ^^ and link back to Spoons somewhere in your post so that others will have a better idea of what’s going on and can join in on the fun.
  • Publish your post on Thursday — that dreaded ‘almost-Friday’ where our brains could use a little respite from all the thinking they’ve had to do since Monday.
  • Add your link to the linkup that’ll be up at the end of every Thinking Out Loud post so that others can catch a glimpse of what’s going through your head.

Hope to see ya there! 😀
