Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!
1. I feel like I haven’t shared any random facts with you guys in forever, so what’s say we kick off today’s randomness with some random things that’ll make you everyone’s favourite partner for trivia games?
- Can you even imagine, though? How would you dress for this!?
- Dang it… looks like I’m missing out on some good cardio. But horrors = tears.
- Isn’t this basically the Pomodoro technique? I feel like I’m always racing the clock when I have my 30 mins.
- If I ever get another dog, this is what I’m naming it.
- So my sleeping schedule has somehow turned into this. I had no idea there was a name for it.
2. So I started my Christmas shopping earlier this year, and now I remember why I usually wait until the last minute to do it – I literally can’t have a present in my possession without constantly wanting to give it to the person it’s for. Like… it just sits in my closet and taunts me for 1 or 2 months, and I’ve even caught myself almost blurting out what I got a handful of times. Do I seriously have to wait another 3 weeks? Torture.
3. Speaking of things that are taunting me, can I please have multiple servings of all of these recipes?
Seriously Fudgy Homemade Brownies
Paleo Double Chocolate Turtle Bars
4-Ingredient Peppermint Chocolate Crunch Bars
Gingerbread Apple Pancakes
Chocolate Dipped Coconut Caramel Macaroons
Iced Eggnog Lattes
Because those look epic. And I hope you don’t mind me sharing some links in a ToL, but the lack of link love and a desire to share all the good foods is kind of getting to me. Might have to bring that back for a week or two soon.
4. And on that note… can we please talk about some of the ridiculously creative things that people come up with for Christmas? Like check out these treats….
Melted Snowmen Chocolate Bark | Whipped Cream Cubes
Vegan Snowman Meringue Cookies | Ugly Sweater Cake
Howwwwww?!? I might have been that creative when I was younger, but I’m pretty sure I’d never be able to think those up these days. Mad props to those creators!
5. Tell me about anything Christmassy that you’ve been doing lately! I kind of struggled with getting into the Christmas spirit last year, so I made it a point to try and do more Christmassy things this year to see if it would help out. Spoiler: it totally does. We went to see a live adaptation of A Christmas Carol last weekend, which had me singing Christmas songs for a couple of days post-show. I’ve been looking around at some other shows and volunteering opportunities, so I’d love to hear some of your favourite things to do around this time of the year.
6. Have a happy Thursday 🤓
Let’s chat!

I love this post! My son gets me in the Christmas spirit because he’s so excited about everything. He talks about Santa everyday. We’ve been watching Christmas classics together and I’ve introduced him to my favorite, “Charlie Brown Christmas”. He loves it! Thank you for mentioning my snowmen meringues. My son loves them, too!
Alicia @Bridges Through Life
I love watching tons of christmas movies and making gingerbread cookies each year. I love that snowman bark idea. That would be fun to make.
Emily Swanson
I’ve been so lazy about Christmas shopping; or we’ve been really busy? What sort of excuse should I make? :o) You just reminded me to get on that. And we’ve been watching Christmas cute romance movies. . . Or chick flicks. They are cute!
Joyce @ The Hungry Caterpillar
I’d much rather do the 30-minute walk than the horror movie. Ick! Not my thing.
That melted snowman almond bark is so so cute!
Tiffany @ The Chi-Athlete
What a happy, happy post! I feel like I’ve been too distracted lately to enjoy the holidays; I need to slow down.:)
I’m totally okay with calling it the “thingy that sticks out of the Hershey’s kiss wrapper”. Totes.
Ellen @ My Uncommon Everyday
I haven’t done much Christmas-y except for some gift shopping, but I intend to start baking and watching Christmas movies next week 😀 Totally looking forward to it.

I must find a way to use Nigglywiggly in a sentence today. haha
Ange // Cowgirl Runs
Nigglywiggly is pretty much the best thing I’ve ever heard! Loooooove hahahahahaha.
I still have yet to set up my tree – I’ll get to it, but off, December has been nuts.
Cora
Nigglywiggly. And…. that’s going in to the regular vocabulary. Thank you. My whole christmas spirit is being fed with baking and christmas carols. That’s really all I need.
Kelly @ Kelly Runs For Food
Nigglywiggly…..lol. Good dog name, for sure. I am actually doing really well with Christmas shopping. I don’t really have time to think about it during the week, so I spread it out on the weekends and have bought almost everything online already. I just can’t wrap them too early because my cats will be alllll over that!
Lindsey @ livinglovingrunner
The only thing Christmas-y that I have is that I finally told the hubs to NOT get me anything for Christmas! Of course, he came back with, “It doesn’t work like that…” Well, I wish it did. I have not even thought about Christmas shopping or anything…we are low on funds and my side of the family is in a rough place with mom being in and out of the hospital. I just want good health and happiness for Christmas!
Jen Rawson, RD (@PrettyLilGrub)
I watched Home Alone so that was Christmasy. I don’t think I plan on doing much baking this year, but those treats look amazing.
Winding Spiral Case
I hear ya…I haven’t been feeling particularly Christmasy either. My plans are to check out Celebrate the Season at the Legislature (if it ever stops being so dang cold) and go to the U of A Food Bank fundraiser concert this weekend (Google “Silent Night uAlberta” if you’re interested!).
Julie @ Running in a Skirt
We have our trees up but are saving the good Christmas movies for Christmas week! We are having a quiet holiday at home this year.
Michele @ paleorunningmomma
The gingerbread hot chocolate is way too cute! I wish I were food-crafty like that sometimes, but then I remember how impatient I am lol 🙂
Jess @ Keeping It Real Food
I finished my shopping early this year too (almost, anyway). The closet pile-up/suspense is almost unbearable!
Dietitian Jess
Hoping to finish my Christmas shopping this weekend! That’s super interesting about the horror movie- I know that my heartrace definitely does get just as high watching something terrifying as it does when I’m exercising, lol.
Rachel @ athleticavocado
I haven’t really thought about Christmas yet, is that a bad thing haha!? I think that I’ve just been so focused on finals week that I forgot lol. Anyways, that ugly sweater cake is adorable!!! I wanna make that!
Rachel
I have NOT been in the holiday spirit at all this year. And I’ve got two holidays that I need to get pumped up about for my kids! Ack!
Those random facts are awesome. Thanks for that. I feel smarter already. 🙂
Patricia @Sweet and Strong
I love driving around and seeing the lights this time of year. Dinner and The Christmas Carol or Nutcracker are always a good idea too. And oh those fudgy brownies are ALWAYS a hit. I make her similar recipe with a fudgy frosting all the time, so good!
Kaitlyn
I’m one of those totally annoying people that just lives and breathes Christmas this time of year. This year I’ve tried to watch one Hallmark Christmas movie every day, even if it means watching snippets whenever I have the time. Yeah, they can be a little cheesy, too perfect and unrealistic, but they really just make me feel like Christmas! The other thing I’m loving lately is my Jackie Lawson Advent Calendar. Every morning I sit down with my cup of coffee and get to watch the day’s little animated scene.
heather @Lunging Through Life
I actually finished my shopping and wrapping and now I feel like I’m missing something in the stores, lol. I’m still there like every day because God forbid I remember we need toothpaste and body wash in the same day.. ugh, but it’s weird to not be gift shopping! I also am terrible at holding gifts as secrets. Especially if I know the person is going to love it! Makes me want to give it to them asap. I’ve been watching lots of Christmas movies, listening to Christmas songs, and having all the lights on in our house and on the trees to get in the spirit. It’s hard without snow. I really wish Annabelle could experience snow before Christmas and not in April when I’m ready for the sun and warmth, lol.
Susie @ SuzLyfe
I bought a starbucks in a red cup… does that count? I knew about the Hersheys flag thing, but I always forget, and I am kind of glad that I always forget about that–it is something that just instantly brings a smile to your face 😀 (case in point).
I will gladly burn 200 calories in other ways than watching horror movies.
Alex and I have 2 friends who are part of the “sleepless elite.” It’s the craziest thing (and exhausting, lol)
Hollie
I actually knew that about the races in Antartica and I cannot believe it. I’m a warm weather gal so I know I would not enjoy it. I do love your random fun fact sharing!
Gifts in my closet taunt me as well. I have some to give for both Christmas and my husband’s birthday and I just want it here…now.
meredith @ cookie chrunicles
i love those whipped cream gingerbread men! how cool is that?! I don’t celebrate Christmas so I am not in the Christmas spirit but Hanukkah falls around Christmas this year so that makes things around the end of December much more exciting for us!
Chocolaterunsjudy
I’m Jewish, a fact I’m quite happy about at this time of year. But I am good at keeping secrets!
All the recipes at this time of year kill me, I have trouble with weight gain during the winter. 🙁
Lisa @ Mile by Mile
I haven’t done anything Christmassy besides wrapping gifts and listening to holiday music. But I think doing those things in front of the tree and decorations helps! All the creative holiday stuff on Pinterest has definitely caught my eye and got me wanting to do some baking this weekend!
