I don’t understand when people say they don’t like breakfast 🤔
That’s like if you tried to tell me that air sinks in water – it just doesn’t make sense. I mean, I guess I understand if what you’re really trying to say is that you wake up without much of an appetite so you put off eating breakfast until a little later, but not liking breakfast? Or skipping it completely and going straight to lunch? Yeaaaaaah. You might as well be talking to me in another language.
I adore breakfast. A.dore. I don’t know that I’d go so far as to say that it’s the reason I get out of bed in the morning, since I basically get out of bed because I get bored of lying in it, but it’s definitely something I look forward to every day… to the point where I’m more than willing to sacrifice 30-40 minutes of sleep just so I can make and eat breakfast in peace.
I get that not everyone s willing to do that, though. I really do. Heck, back in the day, I was more than fine with grabbing a PopTart, NutriGrain bar, or can of Coke (I know) and running out the door. And while that might be okay here and there, it’s probably not something I’d recommend in the long run if you want to stay feeling your best. I won’t even go all “breakfast is the most important meal of the day” on you, since it’s not really a great idea to skip any of your meals, but a little bit of extra nutrition in the morning never hurts, eh?
So! I’ve gathered up 15 quick and healthy breakfast recipes that you can literally grab on your way out the door. I mean… okay… you do have to spend a little bit of time prepping them in advance, but in the morning? Grab-n-go. They’re portable, they’re easy, they’re healthy, and most importantly… they’re crazy delicious.

Grab-n-go is exactly what I need for breakfasts. I’m one of those people who gets up 20 minutes before needing to leave for work. I can’t even contemplate eating until an hour or so after I get up, so something I can pop into my handbag and eat when I get there is perfect. I’m a big fan of breakfast food, though. Funnily enough, I took your banana oat bread to work two mornings this week!
Thanks for all the ideas – I think I’m going to try the freezer burritos and strawberry oatmeal bars for the next couple of weeks.
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment
I am definitely a breakfast girl. I love having prepared food, breakfast oats, muffins etc. Breakfast is so important.
Amy @ Amy's Healthy Baking

Arman @ thebigmansworld
What is breakfast…
Said mum and Niki. It’s a disgrace.
Actually, I think WE are in the minority, as so many people I know skip it or think it’s a waste of a meal lol!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I know 😕 It’s craziness! My family is perfectly fine with skipping it as well. Boggles my brain.
Kezia @ Super Naturally Healthy
OMG This makes me wish every meal was breakfast! I LOVE breakfast and all related food – currently in a smothie kick but I do love have something different at weekends 😉

There’s something about kicking off the day with a homemade breakfast that just makes it a million times better. 🙂 I’m all about the portable healthy snacks, so everything on this list is kinda making me wish it was breakfast time right now. Thanks so much for including my cookies, Amanda. 😉 Here’s to less lying in bed, and more kicking butt all day, with a few (or ALL) of these snacks in hand. xo
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Definitely! I think one of my favourite things about coming home after my trip was the fact that I’d be able to make my own breakfast 😆
Joyce @ The Hungry Caterpillar
I’m with you. I can’t really imagine going without breakfast. I’m always surprised when people say they don’t have an appetite in the morning. I always have a big appetite in the morning, and then it tapers off at night. I keep meaning to make those blueberry Greek yogurt muffins–I’ll be excited to have my own kitchen back when I move back to my apartment after living in a dorm at the YMCA all summer.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
My appetite is the same way! But then I know a lot of people who are the complete opposite and eat a lot later in the day, so I guess it makes sense that they wouldn’t be so hungry for breakfast.

Oh wow, I almost had to scroll through the pictures fast so I wouldn’t be tempted to make them all at once. Breakfast BROWNIES from Arman? How have I missed those? I really would love to have brownies for breakfast, and I do understand what you mean. I’m not sure how people can skip breakfast either. *scratches head*
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Brownies for breakfast sounds pretty fab to me too 😀
Hannah Elizabeth
LOL, Amanda, you and I are twins about breakfast!! My mom is one of those “I just want to skip breakfast people” and I just cock my head at her and look at her like she has two heads. It just doesn’t make sense…how is that even possible?? (Especially, how can I be her daughter?? 😜) Me, I could eat breakfast-style foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner for quite a long time if left to my own devices. Yum, thanks for this great list! Some of these I haven’t tried and look delish! 😋
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
My mom is the same way! Then again, my family usually eats their last meal a lot later than I do, so I guess it makes sense that they wouldn’t be as hungry in the morning… but still!
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
I eat breakfast for breakfast, breakfast for lunch and even sometimes breakfast for dinner. Its my favorite and those freezer burritos are a genius idea.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
We need to have an all-breakfast day the next time we’re together!!
Joy
You read my mind! Just thinking I was running low on breakfast recipes. Totally agree – breakfast is definitely my fav meal of the day! You can literally eat anything for breakfast and get away with it – I even had a slice of healthy chocolate cake for breakfast yesterday. You gotta love breakfast 😊
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Hope you found something you liked, Joy!
Bethany (Lulu)
Mmm…I agree, breakfast is probably my favorite meal of the day!
Shashi @ RunninSrilankan
Here I was thinking that people not adoring breakfast, yeti, loch ness monster all had one thing in common – they were myths! And I bet if those so-called breakfast haters feasted their eyes on this collection, why, they would mend their ways! 😉
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Don’t forget the giant crocodiles that live in the sewers 😉
Michelle @ LivelyChicken
Breakfast is definitely my favorite meal of the day. These all look delicious!
Sara @ saralouyoga
Mmmm I love that veggie savoury idea…reminds me of these muffins I used to eat in grad school at a local coffee shop that had corn, and brocooli in them…yum!
Meagan @ My Life as Mrs
I really, really like breakfast food but I have such a hard time eating breakfast. I have to force myself to chew and actually swallow if I try to eat something in the morning. I don’t know what it is, but it’s always been difficult for me. Usually I make a smoothie with a nut butter or something to beef it up and if I get hungry before my lunch time, I have a little snack or something to nibble on to tide me over.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I honestly think that’s a great approach. There’s no point in forcing yourself if your body doesn’t want it, and as long as you’re eating enough in general, then it’s all good!
Kat
Breakfast is my all-time favorite meal – no matter the time of day! I could eat breakfast foods literally all day long 😉 It’s been in the 100s here daily but I am already dreaming about cold days filled with warm oats!!
Hope you had a great time in Vegas friend! <3
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
It was definitely a great time, but crazy HOT. I don’t know how you manage that kind of heat!
Heather @ Polyglot Jot
Breakfast is the best–its definitely a reason for me to wake up in the morning when i dont want to! Those quinoa frittatas look so good!

Yum! What a tasty roundup! Yeah I don’t know how people don’t like breakfast. It’s what I look forward to! I usually eat multiple breakfasts a day and it’s the only meal I can eat any time of day. SO good.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I’m 100% down for multiple breakfasts and often do the same 🙂
michele @ paleorunningmomma
Yes, breakfast is definitely my favorite! Adam, not so much. I make a lot of grab and go for him 🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
My family isn’t huge on it either. I don’t get it!
