Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!
1. They took my bananas!! I’ve taken bananas on all the flights I’ve ever been on without any problems, but this time… they took my bananas! 😭 And when I asked when they stopped allowing them, the guy told me it’s always been that way. Like… what? Google says it’s okay! And they told me before it was fine as long as they have the stickers on them. I have no idea what’s going on, but they took my perfectly ripe, spotty bananas and forced me to buy nasty green ones. They probably won’t even ripen enough for me to want to eat them before I have to go back home.
2. But the flight was good for the most part! 2hr45min went by in NO time, and I think it was the first time I ever spent an entire flight reading instead of constantly switching between different things because I couldn’t stay interested in one (The Way of Shadows = super good so far). The only thing that kind of sucked was the landing. It was super windy, and there were a few times where it literally felt like we were just dropping out of the sky. Hello stomach in throat. You don’t belong there 😲
3. We made it safe and sound, though… and then spent most of the day just settling in and walking up and down the strip. I brought my FitBit with me because I always do a tonne of walking when I’m here here and I was curious to see how much it actually came out to. 11.5k on the first day. I wonder if I can break 20 on a day that doesn’t involve sitting on a plane…
4. I’m also wondering if I can get better at remembering to take pictures/video when I’m actually out and about doing things. As it stands, the only real picture I took of anything was this one of the seahorses in Bellagio’s gardens.
5. And I guess this one of my mostly eaten Chipotle bowl…
6. Oh, and this one of the snowman I saw in Costco…
No wait, that was back home where August is apparently a great time to start bringing out the Christmas decorations 😂
7. Oh! And one more thing before I pass out for the night since it’s currently way too late for me, especially considering it’s an hour behind home. How do we feel about the new Instagram stories? I wasn’t overly keen on them at first since I love Snapchat for that kind of thing, but I follow a lot more people on IG than I do on SC, so it’s been neat to see some new faces. That and my reach is way bigger on IG than it is on SC, so I can feel like I can connect with way more people that way. But then again… SC has all the fun filters. I’m torn. What do you guys think?
8. And on that note, it’s time for me to pass out. And by that I mean go lay down and binge read as much as I can before I can’t keep my eyes open any more. Happy Thursday!!

They did NOT take away those bananas….oh dear, I suppose those green failures from the Bux had to suffice.
That snowman was your home decoration, wasn’t it 😉
Jennifer @ Fit Nana
I cannot believe they took your bananas. W.T.F.?!
Sara @ saralouyoga
Random things that come to mind:
— WHYYY the snowman…just WHY? It’s like 43 degrees Celsius in Toronto…seriously
— I’m getting so jealous about your plane ride…my heart is sinking…I’m not travelling this year and it hurts my soul a bit
— HAVE FUN ON YOUR TRIP!
xoxo

A lot of people in my family are applying to work for the TSA right now and based on their stories about the hiring tests they take, not surprised at all that they took your bananas ofall things. Bummer though . Hipe you enjoy your trip!
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
I had a banana crisis here too. I woke up this morning and they weren’t any!!! Scandalous. So I had to go out today and stock up like the zombie apocalypse is coming.
I love you read the entire flight. Good for you; you deserved some relaxation time. Have the BEST trip.
Manda Maki
My two-year-old went through a phase of running around the house telling all of us, “Oh no!! The troublemakers took my bananas!!!” in an alarmed voice, at random. Your story reminded me of those troublemakers!

I’m on the fence with IG and SnapChat – I think I like both, but wish you could edit on IG the stories that show up. I sometimes finding myself swiping through a lot, which has led to some unfollowing since I forgot I followed them. Overall, I’m going to see how it goes! Going to jump into IG stories this weekend! A bit of a ramble, but hey! That’s okay!
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job
I’m loving the stories. I purposefully didn’t get snapchat bc I knew my life would be sucked away, so now that’s happened since it’s on IG haha. I think they’re great and I make the most absurd singing stories. They’re magical.
Laura @ This Runner's Recipes
I don’t understand TSA. Like, what harm will you cause with a BANANA? One time they pulled me over because I had a Pilates ball in my bag – and yet I’m sure that dangerous things get through all the time.

Aw that sucks they took your banana! The worst especially when it’s your plane food that they are taking. I was at the Bellagio last April and it looks like they have changed up their decorating. It was all flower displays then. Those are cool looking seahorses!
Anna
One time I was on a plane with a woman who was allergic to bananas and they went around confiscating any around her. A guy walked in kind of late and was really confused when they asked him if he had a banana…
Yes to more Instagram stories!
Sarah @ Foxy's Domestic Side
I’ve never tried to take any fruit onto a plane, what did they think you were storing some sort of explosive in your banana? Crazy!
Jo @ Living Mint Green
I’m leaning more towards IG stories for the same reasons you listed. I’d rather pick one platform and do it well, rather than spreading myself over several social platforms. Plus, once I post a photo on IG stories, I don’t feel like posting the same thing on Snap. (Plus, most of my Snap friends have come from Insta)
But yes. filters.
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment
I have mixed feelings on SC vs. IG stories. I love how easy to use IG stories are and it’s been very easy to get on that bandwagon. But I miss the filters and masks on SC. So very conflicted!
suzysuzyheather
We have a snowman like that in our crawlspace and I HATE it. It’s HUGE and takes up all the good space. Have fun in Vegas! I have never been!
Rachael @ Catch me if you can
I got to see those seahorses last month they are so cute! I loved the display at the bellagio this year:)
Emily Swanson
I’m not sure I’ve ever tried to bring a banana on a flight, but that’s sad they took your bananas. I love ripe spotted bananas. I hope you can discover some more on your trip. 🙂 And a snowman in Costco? WOah! Someone’s ready for winter.
Carmy
See, I am one of those people who would be like FINE! And ask/demand that they let me eat my bananas on the spot haha
Ellen @ My Uncommon Everyday
What harm can a banana do?! Lame. Taking people’s snacks is just cruel.
And I’m not ready for snowmen. Fall, yes. Winter… not yet.
Enjoy your trip!
Rachel
I’m not a fan of IG stories. Mostly bc I don’t use snap chat as it is so why would I want to do the same in Instagram? But that’s just me.
I’m so sorry to hear about your bananas. That’s rude and tragic, and you know they only took them bc they were perfect and they were jealous. They’re probably hoarding them for break times for themselves. 😂
Julie @ Running in a Skirt
That’s ridiculous. I’ve taken an entire burrito through security before! And what difference do the stickers make??? I’m 100% for being extra safe and respect what they do, but that seems a little crazy.
I can’t handle the holiday stuff right now. I just can’t.
Kimberly Hatting
Wow! Those seahorses are awesome!!! I have a hard time keeping myself entertained on flights. We flew from Des Moines to San Fran (over New Years) and I tried to read a book, skim through a magazine, and eventually pulled out a notebook and “old-schooled” some blog ideas on paper.
Cora
I’m about to head on an international flight and you better believe I will be having my snacks with me. If I pack fruit and they take my fruit there will be a revolution!!
Have a great time Aamanda!

I cannot believe Halloween stuff is already here. It’s crazy.
Banana burglars might be my new favorite title.
Chocolaterunsjudy
You must be hot, hot, hot! I’ve been to Vegas in August before. I can’t believe they took your bananas. They make it up as they go along!
Ali @ Hit the Ground Running
I’ve only heard of TSA taking food if you’re bringing vegetation from another country OR if it’s open. But I’ve packed homemade, open snacks and fruit etc and never had to confiscated before! How weird that they took your bananas. I hate that there’s no recourse – you can’t argue with them, you just have to let do it 🙁
But I’m glad you made it!! Have fun!!
Alicia
I don’t understand taking your banana. Bananas are not liquid. Also I was just googling what is allowed on a plane and I saw banana in the list so again that doesn’t make sense. Unless they are worried about Canada bananas going to the US, because when you travel internationally they do worry about fruit and such which makes sense. Also Christmas decorations in August? And here we thought it was too early to bring out the pumpkins, but I guess Canada is even more ahead. Hope you have a great time on your trip.
Morgan
That’s obnoxious about your banana. I never bring anything on flights because I’m just terrifiedriving of being stopped, but really, what do they thing you are going to do with a banana. I wonder if a hard apple would have fared better?
Susie @ Suzlyfe
I am firmly of the opinion that now TSA is just dicking around. They miss the important things, but god forbid we try to have a healthy diet.
Michele @ paleorunningmomma
Now I can’t remember if I’ve tried to bring bananas on a flight. I’m sure I have at some point? Especially for the kids. Glad the flight went well – have a great time!
meredith @ cookie chrunicles
why the heck would they take bananas? How are bananas a weapon? they aren’t even a liquid! I would have freaked like the time they took my peanut butter. have the best time!
Katie
I don’t get why they would take bananas? Where were you flying to? I’ve never had a banana taken and I almost always bring them with me!
tara
same here !t
Courtney
I’m glad your flight went well overall– but man, what a bummer about the bananas! 🙁
I was just marveling at the Halloween stuff while grocery shopping, but that snowman has me beat! 🙂
