Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!
1. Obsessed doesn’t even begin to cover it. I’ve been having one of these protein puddings daily for a little over a week now, and I’m not even close to getting tired of it. In fact, I’d probably eat two or three a day if I didn’t think I should probably get a little more variety in my diet 😝 But it’s just so perfect! 4 ingredients. 5 minutes. Insanely “rich” and chocolatey taste 😍 Go grab the recipe and enter the PlantFusion giveaway! <- I’ll be announcing the winner in next week’s ToL.
2. Obsession #2 (and possibly why I’ve been craving a little more protein lately) -> trail rides on my bike. I normally walk/run the trails in our river valley, but this year I decided to swap my feet for a pair of wheels and I’m in loooooove…. possibly because I can get from point A to point B, C, D, E, F, G, etc. a whole heck of a lot faster, and possibly because speed + hills = extra adrenaline for this adrenaline junkie. Heck, I don’t even mind riding up the hills all that much. Thank you decades of snowboarding for nice strong legs.
3. Speaking of snowboarding, I miss it 😞 I only managed to make it out to the mountains a couple of times this year, which just isn’t okay. But with all the work that came with the book, and then Easter, and then knowing I would be gone to Hawaii for a week and a half, I really couldn’t afford to spend any more time away from my kitchen. That’s okay, though… There’s always next winter; and there’s plenty to look forward to about the spring/summer, too.
4. … like roasting marshmallows! No idea why, but I got the biggest craving for roasted marshmallows the other day and I haven’t been able to get them off my mind since. I even went out and picked up a baggie of my favourite kind. Now all I need is a fire…
5. That reminds me! Please tell me I’m not the only one who’s ever roasted marshmallows over a stove… It’s something I used to do it back when I was still living at home, but in my defense, my parents had a gas stove so it was basically like a tiny little personalized fire. Either way, it worked perfectly. The stove I have now is electric, though, so I’m thinking I might just whip up some Rice Krispie Treats until a better opportunity presents itself 😁
6. Speaking of cereal, here comes obsession #3 -> adding raw oats to my cereal bowls. Not only does this add fibre and bulk to help with satiety (great for those who say cereal doesn’t fill them up), but it does some pretty amazing things to the texture and taste, too – think creamy, doughy, and subtly sweet. Oats can seriously do no wrong.
7. Ok. Please tell me I’m not the only one who’s a little crazy about making sure that I get a person’s name right when I’m responding back to them in an e-mail, comment, message, etc. I’m kind of paranoid that I’m going to spell someone’s name wrong, or accidentally type in Karen when I’m talking to Jane, so I literally check things over 5 times before I hit the send button. I’m just as bad when it comes to filling out forms, too. Aaaaaalways double checking.
8. So I woke up this morning not knowing where I was. What happened was that I had to flip myself around last night and put my head where my feet usually go because the [almost] full moon was shining RIGHT IN MY FACE when I was laying down the normal way. I didn’t have any issues falling or staying asleep, but I was all sorts of disoriented when I woke up… which is weird because that doesn’t happen to me when I travel or sleep somewhere other than home.
9. And that’s it for me today! Happy Thursday, friendly faces!

Arman @ thebigmansworld
oh my gee, stop riding the bike.
Also, I totally added raw oats to the cocoa powder concoction. lolol.
lucie
Funny enough, cooking oats isn’t really a thing here in Switzerland – we always eat them raw. Just add milk, bananas and that’s the Muesli. I would definitely love if we had the tradition of roasted marshmellows though. I can not even find them in the supermarket! 🙁 🙁
Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves
Ooo I’m going to have add raw oats into my next cold bowl of cereal! And I haven’t been on a real bike in God knows how many months (years?). Hopefully I’ll get to bike around sometime this summer! Although, biking is always iffy for someone who cannot always stay calm while going downhill.
Mecca
Oh how I’ve missed your blog and your TOL posts. So behind on life but finally getting to treat myself by catching up on all my fave blogs. Anywho, had a very similar experience with sleeping last night. Went to bed at 10:30pm and woke up totally disoriented. Wasn’t sure where I was or what to do. I finally grabbed for my phone to go through the motion of turning off my alarm, only to realize it was 11:23pm. I hadn’t even been sleep for an hour! Guess I must’ve been sleeping hard! Lol.
Lauren
brb going to buy 90 bags of Dandie’s ‘mellows. Love that there is a natural marshmallow company!

When we left for crossfit at 5.30 this morning it was pitch black outside apart from the full moon which was huge and just beaming! So pretty – wish I could have taken a photo but I knew there was no point, getting a good pic of the moon is impossible!
Ellen @ My Uncommon Everyday
I’ve definitely called someone the wrong name before, so I totally understand that worry… oops. And anytime I make something with oats (so, almost daily 😂) I grab a few and just eat them raw. I love the nutty chewiness!
Kaylin@EnticingHealthyEating
I’m always very anal about checking to make sure I’ve typed someone’s name correctly in an email! Mostly because people misspell and incorrectly say my name all the time.
Tiff @ Love, Sweat, & Beers
Ha, nope! I can’t say I’ve ever roasted them over a stove. I save them for camping trips only since I looooooove smores but am not all that into marshmallows by their lonesome.
Sarah
I also get paranoid about misspelling someone’s name, I always triple check! I think it’s cute you roasted marshmallows over the stove, I mean hey, you gotta do what you gotta do! Now I’m craving a Summer bonfire!
Run Wright
LOL @ #7 because my name is Karen.
Love that pudding in a glass. Looks so elegant.

I’m also paranoid I’ll comment to one person with the comment meant for someone else, though I don’t have nearly as many comments to make as you, so I guess my fear is more unreasonable. 😉
My mom *adores* roasted marshmallows, but we’re not really the camping sort and don’t go on many vacations, so she doesn’t get nearly enough to satisfy her desire. She’s tried literally everything, but we can’t get it to work without it tasting like propane/candle wax (<- yes, we did that too 😆). I am favor of pioneering some way to get the roasty interior along with a piping hot melty center that actually melts the chocolate in a s'more. I am continually frustrated because no matter how long or where I roast a campfire marshmallow, it never comes out hot enough to melt my chocolate. Although I do love the roasty-toasty-campfire-ness, until someone solves what is to me is a pivotal problem, I'll stick to the microwave (sorry, s'mores purists). I know, I get ridiculously into this issue…😜
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Have you tried doing it in the oven under the broiler? Someone mentioned that working out! I might have to give it a shot in my little mini toaster oven… hmm.
snackiebird
Oh, that awkward moment when you realize that spelled someone`s name wrong. It happens to me a couple of times and I feel like really bad blogger. Or human. Never stop learning how to be better, though!
Gianna @ Run, Lift, Repeat
I roast marshmallows on my stove #nycliving
And I love people like you who check for names. My name has 2 n’s but I would say like 75% of people I deal with at work put one n and it is so annoying! I am on an entire 3 month project plan with my name mispelled. Not okay!
Shashi @ RunninSrilankan
#7 – I find myself checking and rechecking – there are so many different ways sometimes to spell a name and I’m paranoid not that I’ll call Amy Jame, but I’ll spell “Amy” when I should have said “Aimee”- GAH!
And – that first photo in today’s TOL – that pour shot – why that just needs to be illegal – cos now that’s all I want – a protein pudding!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Oh man, Amy is a hard one. And Brittany too. Then Sarah. Haley. Jesse. Oi!
Mattie @ Northwest Native
YES I have absolutely roasted marshmallows on a stove! But…I’ve even used an electric one. Ha! That pudding looks amazing, and I have been desperately wanting a bike! I probably wouldn’t get an awesome one that could do trails but just riding down the street sounds so fun to me lately!
Alaina @ thesimplepeach
Biking on trails sounds like so much fun! Smores and roasted marshmallows are a must. I love to add oats to smoothies for that extra oomph.
vicki
That pudding looks delish! I have roasted marshmallows over the stove before.
Jessie @ The Acquired Sass
Yes to making marshmallows on the stove. I use it to char peppers too. Because #LazyKitchenHacks.
And to light a piece of spaghetti to use for lighting candles because I’m terrible at matches & lighters.
So, pretty much, gas stoves are the best & not just for cooking.
Joyce @ The Hungry Caterpillar
Totally with you on the roasted marshmallows! I’m one of those people who doesn’t even really like s’mores all that much. Just give me the roasted, toasted, perfectly brown on the outside, melted and gooey on the inside, marshmallow.
Sorry about not getting up to the mountains. Heck, I don’t get up to the mountains as much as I’d like, and I live on the front range. Trail riding sounds like a heck of a lot of fun, though. Enjoy!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I’m not big on s’mores either! To me, the chocolate and grahams just get in the way of the roasted marshmallow. That ooey, gooey-ness is really all I want.
Alyssa @ renaissancerunnergirl
Loving that trail! Wish I could be out in nature without seeing the buildings beyond the Central park treetops.
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job
Haha we only had an electric stove growing up and I used to just put marshmallows in the microwave to watch them heat and expand and then eat them
Beverley @ Born to Sweat
Yay for bikes!! I just pulled mine out of storage to ride to work and i am soooo happy about it. Wish Toronto had some good trails, but I guess i need to go further out of the city to do that. Happy Thursday!
Brie @ A Slice of Brie
I was totally craving marshmallows (well S’mores to be exact) the other day too. I have a gas stove and I never thought to do it on there!! This could end up being a very bad thing to be able to do….lol
Totally the same way about names. I hate spelling someone’s name wrong and saying the wrong name in the first place makes me so embarrassed.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Just don’t try roasting them above a scented candle — apparently it doesn’t taste so good 😆
Leigh
My in-laws live in Edmonton and live close to the river valley, so I always go running or walking my dog there. It’s so nice!
Ange // Cowgirl Runs
Oh man, I am so with you on the name thing. Talk about major paranoia about getting it wrong!
Now I really miss my gas stove – electric just doesn’t compare!
