Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!
1. Happy St.Paddy’s Day! Please don’t pinch me because it’s 99.99% guaranteed that I’m not wearing even a spec of green – it’s just not my colour. That being said, it’s also 99.99% guaranteed that I had one of these vanilla mint oatmeal smoothies for breakfast, so I am rocking a bit of green… in my stomach 😉
2. So in addition to it being St.Paddy’s, today also (and more importantly) happens to be the birthday of one of my very bestest blends-turned-friends. Meg and I first met at Blend 2014, where we connected after randomly finding ourselves separated from the rest of the pack and hiking down a mountain together. We’ve been chatting daily ever since, and I don’t even think I can tell you how much love I have for this woman. If you know her, you love her. And if you don’t know her, then you should go check her out because you most definitely will love her. Be sure to head on over to her blog and wish her a happy birthday!!
Happy Birthday, boo! 😘 🎎
3. So tell me if this is crazy… Whenever I start feeling super stressed out or overwhelmed, the first thing I want to do is clean. Obviously this only applies when I’m at home, but yeah – I just get hit with this massive urge to tidy up ALL the things. And the crazy part is that it really does help calm me down. I guess I just can’t handle the external clutter on top of the internal clutter… so I clean the crazy away 😂
4. Speaking of which… I think it’s seriously time to invest in one of those small hand-held vacuums. Things can get pretty messy when I’m shooting a recipe, and – you guessed it – it bothers the crap out of me. The same applies when I’m making a recipe – I clean as I go because a cluttered kitchen completely throws me off my game.
5. Feel free to bust out that crazy label now, I won’t be offended 🙃 🙂 🙃 🙂
6. Can we please talk about how much I love being an ambassador for Love Grown Foods? Not only do I love the people and what they stand for, but I’m seriously addicted to their products. I’ve already professed my love for their Mighty Flakes a handful of times, and I just got around to trying their new Fruity Sea Star cereal for kids (munching on handfuls as we speak), and I love that one too. No surprise since I’m basically a kid at heart.
7. I’m currently feeling a little more like this guy, though…

This week was a looooong one, and I’m more than ready for the weekend. I might even try watching some TV and whipping up some hoodie popcorn 😂
Disclosure: as a Love Grown ambassador, I do receive many of their products for free, but I was not asked to post a review nor was I compensated for my time. I just love their products, which is why I’m sharing them with you.
Let’s chat!
No questions! Just tell me whatever randomness comes to mind!

That guy eating popcorn out of his backwards hoodie…. Ohhhh my gosh. Brilliant.
I WISH I automatically had to urge to clean whenever I got stressed (like I am now). I guess sometimes I do clean, but other times I kinda just lay just my face down on my bed and moan.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I find the latter to be very effective as well 😉
Shawna
i need to get more creative with smoothies! this looks delicious.
Sarah
I also clean when I’m stressed, I find vacuuming and decluttering so stress relieving lol! That guy with the hoodie is ridiculous-though that’s a very inventive idea!

OEMGEE – #7 – LURVE the idea of a hoodie popcorn holder!
I’m a messy cook and when I’m stressed -other than running – I bake or cook and well – that only leads to one heck of a mess – wanna come stay with me the next time you are stressed? 🙂
Hope tomorrow goes by super fast so that you get to enjoy the weekend! XO
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
“wanna come stay with me the next time you are stressed?” <-- as long as I can be your taste tester 😀

Can we go back to Boulder, lay on our beds and have endless chats and laughs? I miss it so much.
Going Snowboarding tomorrow! Whoooo!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I miss it too 🙁 Vancouver still on!??!
lucie
You bet. Going to book the flights next month. I may or may not come with a +1 😉
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
!!!!! Then I’ll see you (both?) there 😀

Not going to lie, I actually forgot that it was SPD today until I started browsing my morning blogs :/ Worst Kind .. but I’d totally count your smoothie as ‘your’ green for the day!
Miss Polkadot
Please revert your opinion and tell me that cereal isn’t good because damn do I want it. But if I want something even more it’s to meet our St.Patrick’s Day baby, Meg. There are so many reasons to like her even from the distance.
It’s funny you’d mention cleaning when stressed because I did the same thing earlier today when – you guessed it – I was way too anxious. A win-win situation, no?!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I have a strong feeling you’ll make it over to our side of the pond one day and we’ll all get to meet 🙂
Sarah @ Making Thyme for Health
That popcorn sweater trick is genius! I’m totally doing that the next time I go to the movies, haha! With a Miller Lite too…
I’m the same way about cleaning when I’m stressed. I think it makes me feel like at least one part of my life is in order or something. At least we can tell ourselves that, right? 😉
Kelsey
Definitely one of those people who cleans when overwhelmed/stressed. And I think it is because when we are stressed, everything builds on top of that, including the environment we are in. If we can tackle that environment, we feel we can handle our stress better (and end psychology rant of the day. =))
Alex
I totally relate to the stress cleaning. My apartment is spotless whenever I have a looming deadline at work or exams in my Cont-Ed class. It really is therapeutic!

Oh dear lord do I hear you on the cleaning when stressed thing. Its like clockwork. As soon as I get a tinge of stress or anxiety, I get this urge to sweep and clean counters. Could be a more psychological thing… but for now I’m just thinking its physical movement that allows time and space to think. External decluttering = internal decluttering.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I have a feeling it has something to do with moving around as well. I always find that I have an easier time thinking when I’m walking around doing mundane things than when I’m sitting down and actually -trying- to think.
Karen @ Fit in France
I actually like cleaning… it gives me a major sense of accomplishment. I had one of those handheld things once but only used it a couple times. It was a complete waste of money ! Happy St Patrick’s day. Thanks for the link up.
Joanna @ LivingMintGreen
HAHAHA that popcorn dude is my soulmate/dream man.
It’s totally normal to clean when you’re stressed. It’s a way of restoring order and structure back in your life. It’s my go-to stress reliever! And hey, it always works right?!
amanda
I also clean when I’m stressed sometimes; not super often though. I’ll either clean or hide from everything and nap. I’m not sure if a nap ever helps but I like to think it does:) haha
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I’m sure it does. I’ve always found that I have a way easier time dealing with stress when I’m well rested. And well fed 😉
Amy @ Running on Faith and Coffee
I absolutely need to try that oatmeal smoothie! There truly is nothing better than great friends that’s for sure…and a hoodie full of popcorn! 😉
Happy St Patrick’s day!
Sarah @ Foxy's Domestic Side
I need that popcorn hoodie in my life, STAT!
Shannon
I have to clean as I go when I cook, because messy counters cause me so much stress and I always ruin what I am cooking!
Jessie @ The Acquired Sass
I WISH I had the urge to clean when I got stressed. Instead I just do less helpful things (cleaning wise at least) like go for a run, or Pinterest ALL THE THINGS. Which, I mean, whatever, but, that doesn’t help my house get any cleaner.
Not sure green is my color, but I do love it. So I’m rocking a teal cardigan today (totally by chance) but close enough.
Paula
Back in the day, both my roommate and I used to clean when we got stressed. She would get bleach and scrub baseboards and rearrange furniture; I favored the tub. I called it my Lady Macbeth routine. Our place was IMMACULATE! I wish I still coped with stress that way; now I mostly drink too much coffee when I’m anxious. 🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Coffee? Eep! But that makes you even more anxious! And I seriously wish I could find the motivation to do my baseboards – that’s one thing I definitely neglect.
