Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!
1. Oh, hi there!
I thought I’d start this post off with a smiling selfie to make up for the RBF I slapped you guys with last week. Remember how I said I’m more comfortable with not smiling for pictures? I’ve noticed that it mostly applies to selfies, and I think it has to do with the fact that whipping out a smile when I’m just randomly taking a picture of myself just feels a little forced and fake. Right? No? Just me?
2. But seeing this while I was out driving definitely brought a smile to my face…
I’m not 100% sure what it was, but I’m thinking some kind of scooter with a shell built around it to protect from the elements. Either that or a mini Smart car . That flag just kills me, though π
3. Speaking of killing me, guess who pulled the classic move of burning herself with a curling iron…
Mmm hmm. This girl. I was using a NUME curling wand to get the job done, and I was holding it in such a way that I somehow managed to burn the back of my shoulder with the top of the wand (don’t ask). I did’t think anything of it until I caught a glimpse of it in the mirror later that day and noticed how vicious it looked (I’ll spare you the close up). Let’s just say that wearing certain shirts is difficult. As is trying to sleep on my back or right side.
4. On the topic of sleep… have I told you guys that I’ve been having the best sleeps lately? Yeah. Lay down, fall asleep almost instantly, and sleep like a log until the next morning… It’s a welcome change from the tossing, turning, and multiple wake-up calls throughout the night that I was used to. I don’t want to play the guessing game, but I did notice it start to change right around the time that I started to go to bed a lot later. I used to be in bed by 9:30 or 10, but lately it’s been anywhere from 11:30 to 2am. I don’t hate it!
(oh hi, sleepy Ky!)
5. As for why I’ve been staying up so late… secret π
6. Have you noticed it’s been a little bit darker in the mornings, though? I’e still been waking up pretty early (don’t ask me how), and I’ve noticed that it’s taking the sun a little while longer to get up. Winter Fall is coming, friends… #happydance.
7. Have you heard that Erin Condren just released something along the lines of an adult colouring book?
[source]
It’s kind of a colouring book slash notebook hybrid, where you can colour the patterns on the pages and still have room left to jot down notes… Me likey! And if you’re interested in getting one (or the new Life Planner that just launched last month), you can use sign up using my referral link to save $10 off your first order. That’ll also credit me $10 to my account, so it’s wins all around.
8. So I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve made these soft and chewy protein granola bars, but let’s just say that I basically have some on hand at.all.times so it’s probably been way over 40. Quite easily my favourite thing to snack on.
9. Well, that and chocolate. The addiction is real, my friends. Especially lately. Oi.
10. And that’s it for me today, loves! Have yourselves an awesome Thursday, and I’ll talk to you soon π
No questionsβ¦ just tell me whatever comes to your mind! π

Oh man, you are chocolate obsessed lately. You would have loved the Hubby’s dessert on Friday then. It was like a chocolate crΓ¨me brulee. I had a bite; it was good. I also devoured my key lime tart. Also very good.
That burn…ouch. You should put some aloe vera on that.
I’m thrilled to hear about the better sleep. I suspect happy life happenings coupled with less stress have something to do with it. π
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I’ve been thinking about chopping off one of Spike’s arms to get at some of the sweet aloe juice inside. You think he’ll mind? π
Kelsey / A Turquoise Lining
Hopefully we can learn about the secret soon! =) My sleep has been really good as well, and I am certain it is from 1) eating a good meal/snack 2) magnesium and 3) reading! I’m so glad to have sorted through insomnia and crappy sleep.
Sarah @ Making Thyme for Health
That picture of Kyah gives me warm fuzzy feelings! I’m glad to hear you’re sleeping well. I swear, nothing feels better than a good night’s sleep!
And yes, I feel the same way about selfies. I mean, I feel like they’re just awkward no matter what but they’re even more so with a full on smile.
Cassie @ Almost Getting it Together
I’m like you… ALL the chocolate lately. Also I’m kind of excited for fall too? Even though it doesn’t turn into fall here ever? It’s always just Spring-Summer-ish… maybe because I know I don’t have a winter to deal with!
Brittany
EEEPPP SECRETS, I love. Those kinds of secrets always had me staying up way later than normal too. π Can I have some of that chocolate…please…
Stacy Porter
First, I wanted to thank you for your instructions on how to get a blog up on bluehost (used your link *grin*). I just got my site up today so it’s a total mess, but I’m really excited to get started. I’ve blogged a lot before, but I wanted a fresh start. My first post on my new blog was a Thinking Out Loud!
Second, your dog is SO CUTE!
Have a great day xoxo
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Thanks so much for using my link, Stacy! Welcome to the blog world! And I love that your first post was a ToL π

Could the late nights be man friend related?!? π

oh my Gosh I need that mini….car? Also, my bedtimes are cray now. Early, then randomly late then randomly early. WHY.
Jade
That little car scooter thing is adorable. It looks like a large version of the little kid one that is red and yellow and you push around with your feet. I’ve been addicted to chocolate lately, too. I’m not sure it’s actually a problem.
Runwright
Ooh that curling iron burn! Hope it gets better soon. I used to burn my ear or my forehead all the time. I haven’t gotten better with the machine, I just don’t use it often anymore.
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles
I KNOW THE SECRET! :-p
I have noticed it getting darker later in the morning – aka when I’m at work doing rounds at 4:45 it’s still pitch black, as opposed to getting some light like it was a few weeks ago. I can’t decide how I feel about it. I’m excited for a lot of things happening in the fall, but still….so many changes :-S
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I can’t keep secrets from you π
Suzy
That car is awesome. Now if it could pull a trailer that housed 7 more people, I’d take it! I think we would need a bigger flag, though.
Sabrina @ Nutritiously Sweet
I am ready for summer to be over lol! Means it gets a little cooler and I’ll be done with pregnancy π I’ve been on a chocolate kick too! Must be her growth spur π
Karen @ Fit in France
I sleep like a baby as soon as I reduce sugar & gluten. Within 2 days I am sleeping like a baby. But so hard because I love my chocolate…. and am drooling over your photos !
Shannon
That is the cutest car/scooter thing. I want one!
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job
Oh yes I love those sleeps. That’s pretty much what mine are now and it’s so great to sleep through the night unlike a couple years ago when life was CRAAAAAZY.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Right?! I find I tend to go through phases of really good sleep followed by really wonky sleep. Hopefully I can just stay in this camp this time around.
Zin
In the UK we have so many of those adult colouring books for sale and there was even just a news report on how popular they were. I’ve tried them and they are a really great stress relief.
Sarah @ Foxy's Domestic Side
Glad you are sleeping better, means that you’re working on something that takes a lot of concentration and hard work, can’t wait to hear about it!
julie
thanks for hosting the link up! I love quiet mornings watching the sunrise, such a peaceful time!
Sam @ See Sam Run
OMG That coloring book. I. need. it. I just bought a planner that’s not Erin Condren and my heart may have broken a little bit. Her stuff is just the cutest!
Hayley @ Full of Life
Yay for better sleep!!! I can’t stand when I go through phases of poor sleep…it effects me so much. I wanna know the secret but I think it may have to do with a boy π I am so excited for fall and all things pumpkin. I wish we could just alternate between summer and fall all year.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Maaaaaybe. But mum’s the word for now π
Sarah @ Sweet Miles
Can’t. Wait. For. Fall!!!! Bring it on!!!
Niki @ Life With Niki
Pretty much a big nod to everything you just said. Adult coloring book? We should have some sort of launch party where we play relaxing music and everyone just colors. While we eat chocolate <3.
Annette @ Sweating Through Life
I love fall. Everyone around here gets so angry when I say that because that means winter is that much closer, but it is by far the best season…in my opinion. I feel the same way about selfies…maybe that’s why I don’t take them often, I feel so damn awkward.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
How great would it be to live in a place where it’s fall all year long? π
Kate
Thanks for reminding me about those granola bars! I need a new grab and go snack.
Yalanda@Laugh Anyway
I love that mini car/scooter! So funny! And…I have actually dropped my curling iron while its clamping my hair so that it actually swung into my face! Curling iron fiascos! The struggle is REAL!!
Kris @ Canadian Girl Runs.
I’m so curious about the adult colouring books – it’s such a huge thing now!!
Kunbi Ayo-Okanlawon
An adult colouring book?? I totally want one! Sadly, shipping to the UK will cost much more than the colouring book costs. *loud sigh*
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I hear ya π It’s the same for me here in Canada. But I’m pretty sure you can find them on Amazon? Or they might even be in your local bookstores.
Melissa
I really love the idea of coloring books for adults. I used to love coloring as a child, so I think it would be a great stress reliever!
Emily
I love that you love adult coloring. π Never too old to color. π And that car on the sidewalk? That mad me crack up.
