Happy #thinkingoutloud Thursday! No idea what I’m going on about? Click here!
1. You’re going to have to excuse me for geeking out on you for a moment here, because the new Erin Condren 2016 Life Planners just launched this week, and I.am.in.LOVE. I mean, you guys know how obsessed I am with my current ECLP (read my review here), and the new ones have a tonne of awesome changes and improvements, including more personalization and even a limited rose gold edition…

Uhm… hello, lover. I know they might seem a tad pricey, but these things are worth every penny if you’re a planner/scrapbook fanatic. And if you sign up using my referral link* you can even get $10 off your first order. I may or may not already have one purchased for next year #obsessed.
(*if you sign up using my link, you get $10 off your first order and I get $10 credited to my account. Lots of love for your support!)
2. Speaking of “oh.my.god I need that in my life”… Tiff brought this to my attention…
[source]
It’s a Game of Thrones colouring book. For adults. Like… what?! It’s supposed to be a good one, apparently, and it’s even got Martin’s stamp of approval. The only thing is that it won’t be out until October. Sad face. BUT! there’s an online version you can mess around with if you’re feeling so inclined.
3. And speaking of adult colouring books… I’m still waiting for mine to get here, and I ordered it towards the end of April. Ugh. What is life. Apparently they didn’t expect them to be so popular, so they weren’t prepared for the mass quantities they had to ship out and had to print more. Adult colouring books… who knew?!
4. Please don’t hate me, but… it horrible that it’s not even summer yet and I’m already [kind of] wishing for winter? Or at least fall? Or any sort of reprieve from the hot weather? I probably don’t even have much right to complain since it’s nowhere near as hot here as it can get in other places, but daaaaaang… I don’t know how you guys do it! Mid to high 20’s (high 70’s to low 80’s) and I’m already dying!
5. And in addition to taking away my will to live ability to function like a normal human being, the heat’s gone and ninja’d my appetite too. Nothing sounds good, and I’ve pretty much been living off smoothies, salads, watermelon, and frozen bananas with almond butter.
6. Oh, and cookies… which I’ve actually been baking in my toaster oven because my place doesn’t need any help heating up π
7. Do people still use landlines these days? I ask because I have one, but I really have no idea why. I mean, the only people who have the number (which I can’t even really remember) are my parents, and they usually just call or text me on my cell anyways. It’s not like it costs a crazy amount, but I’m sure it adds up by the end of the year. Probably another one of those things I should get around to getting rid of…
8. I popped my homemade hummus cherry! Which is to say that I finally got around to making my own hummus at home. I have no idea what took me so long, but I think it had something to do with being worried that I wouldn’t like my homemade version as much as the ones in the store. Totally ungrounded — the homemade version rocked my socks off. And it was super easy and quick to whip up! I posted the recipe for this zesty lemon lime hummus over on Savory Style, so go check it out if you’re interested in whipping up your own too!
9. So I’m back to making my coffee at home again after a brief stint of being back in Starbucks, and I’m not sure if it’s coincidence or what, but I had the worst headache two days after I stopped going… and I never get headaches. Maybe it’s because the coffee in Bux is so much stronger than the one I make at home and I was going through caffeine withdrawals? Either way, that wasn’t a fun day, and I’m glad it’s over… whatever it was.
10. Happy Thursday, friendly faces! Have yourselves an awesome day π
No questionsβ¦ just tell me whatever comes to your mind! π

An adult colouring book meaning I don’t have to secretly pull out my Dora the Explorer one anymore [which I actually haven’t in ages]?! Though I’ve never watched GoT so I’d rather go for the Enchanted Forest one instead. But waiting that long??
Different countries, different communication choices: almost everybody owns a landline over here still. I can’t imagine people not having one. They’re usually really cheap coming in a package when setting up your internet which is why I had one even when living on my own and trying to limit spendings.

There was a story on the popularity of adult coloring books on the news awhile back. My husband and I were watching it and I said…I just read about these on a blog I like (must have been in April). Then I found out that he uses them at work. He is an addictions counselor and runs a men’s group of mostly court mandated participants that live together in a halfway house. He said it has really helped some of them deal with anxiety over not using.

It’s pretty amazing how big of an impact a childhood classic can have on us even as adults, eh? I definitely notice it helping me with my stress levels, especially the adult ones since they require a lot more focus because of the small details.

Ha! The landline phone. Yep still have one, and only the parents use it!
We should just call it “the parents phone” shouldn’t we? π
Julia @ Lord Still Loves Me
Oh goodness- I love my planner as much as the next girl, but I cannot imagine paying that much for one! Is it worth it? I usually tend to just go for the $5 at Taret and while it is not as beautiful, it gets the job done. Iβm curious as to what is so special about them!
Is the picture of your smoothie just frozen bananas with almond butter? I need to try that!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I think it’s definitely worth it, but I guess it also depends how into planning you are. If you just need something to get the job done, then a basic one is fine. But I like to decorate mine and almost use it as a little scrapbook, so I don’t mind paying a little extra. Especially since I’m using it for 365 days.
Daisy @ Fit Wanderlust Runner
WHAT!!?? How did I not know about the new EC planner! This just made my day!!
Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves
Wow I need to look into this adult coloring book business! I mean, coloring IS a great stress reliever.
And that’s such a good point about landlines. I never realized that my family really doesn’t use it that often anymore. Everything is cellular!
I know it’s getting super hot, but at least we have long days. That’s what I’m in it for. π
Laur
I really want an adult coloring book, but I think it’ll make me mad if I don’t have time to sit down and do it. I love coloring, so I could see myself getting heated over it! I like to fill in the colors perfectly (!!!). #perfectionistproblems
I’ve never watched game of thrones…?
Shannon
I am not a fan of hummus, but maybe it’s because I haven’t had the right one! I really need to try making my own.
Dani @ DaniCaliforniaCooks
I LOVE those planners! Wow! And making homemade hummus has been on my bucket list for a while…
Morgan @ Managing Mommyhood
Ugh my anniversary is this month and. I told my husband I wanted an erin condren. When he found out out much it was for “just a planner” hr laughed at me.. π
Amanda @ Diary of a Semi-Health Nut
Oh my gosh I’m totally making cookies in my toaster oven!! I tried making them in the microwave once…no bueno lol.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Omigosh I completely fail at everything I ever try to toss into the microwave. I don’t even think I’d be able to boil water in there π
Laura @ This Runner's Recipes
75-80 degrees is really hot! It’s getting up to that here in Seattle and I just want this heat wave to pass. Then I realize that’s the low in most of the country and I’m just ready for fall as well, so you’re not alone. Can’t it just be 40-60 degrees year round?
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries
I’m totally ooooing and ahhhing over those new Erin Condren planners. Beautiful!
Mmm, your hummus looks amazing!
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job
I eat an ungodly amount of almond butter every day. I make it at home so I am never without it. Im thinking maybe I should actually buy some other snacks so I am not constantly eating that and dates. So good though…
My husband and I just bought a ninja turtles coloring book and have been coloring in it together instead of getting sucked into the TV. You could always just revert to kids coloring books until yours gets there…
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I actually have one. And wax crayons π It’s what I’ve been using for a little while now, and there’s definitely nothing wrong with it, but… you know how it is…
Gretchen | Gretchruns
I know what you mean about losing your appetite in the summer! I just never feel hungry any more, and the only thing that sounds good for dinner lately is ice cream (whoops). I have a race tomorrow evening and the high is 95…wish me luck !
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Good luck, Gretchen! You’re going to rock your race π
Kristin
In regards to #9, it’s because starbucks puts crack in their coffee. Duh.
Also I’m an Inkwell Press girl myself, but those EC planners are adorable.
Jo @ Living Mint Green
I bought an adult coloring book from Chapters a few weeks ago – I love it! Except I need to go to an art store & get a better variety of pencil crayons.
I’m so confused by your “I wish it was fall/winter” statement. But why?! It’s cold & doesn’t feel good. There’s no vitamin D synthesis. Or margs. Or relaxing by the lake with a book.
You should move to Yellowknife or Whitehorse if that’s how you’d like to live. π
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
But there’s snowboarding… and you know how I am with my snowboarding π
Hayley @ Full of Life
I love Erin Condren planners. I have been slacking on my planner game since for work all of my meetings and such are on Outlook calendar so I don’t like switching between the two every day. #firstworldproblems last week it was like 105 degrees here one day which was brutal but I love the heat usually (70-80 is perfect). I do always miss the holidays though during this time of year.
Sky @ Blonde Freedom
My Mom absolutely loves her Erin Condren planner! Maybe someday I’ll invest in one of those. I’ve never tried frozen bananas with almond butter as a snack. I’ll have to do that on a hot afternoon!
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl
I think I might have to break down and buy one of those planners for next year. I am totally Type-A and love organization, so I think I deserve to treat myself for that π
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
You definitely do! And if you think about it, it’s with you every day for 365 days, so it’s not a bad investment π
Sarah @pickyrunner
I would KILL for a summer in the 70s and 80s. I actually don’t mind the heat, but this 90 degree weather we’ve been having is excessive. I used to be all about the planners but now that I’m not in school I just use my phone because i know I’ll have it everywhere I go. I do miss writing my schedule down in them though!
